This chocolate place right in the heart of Palo Alto downtown is a green of a place for people who are very interested in trying out great dark chocolate. The owner of this shop goes by the name Panos and is a very knowledgeable chocolatier. He is very passionate about chocolate and the art of making them. He was kind enough and patient enough to give us samples of the offerings of various flavors and explain how to savor them. We bought the dark chocolate infused with Liberico coffee, Loucouras coffee bean truffle and the chocolate with alcohol infused grape s. The chocolate that we purchased was 70% dark chocolate. We also tasted the 100% dark chocolate as well. It was very smooth and had a very distinct chocolate flavor. The owner mentioned that the 100% one is not bitter because he has removed the ingredient that cause the bitterness while manufacturing the chocolate, so that we get the actual taste of the chocolate itself and not it’s overwhelming bitterness.The various chocolate bars come at a cost of 28.50 USD(slightly pricey, but definitely worth the cost).

Such an educational place to learn about chocolate and do taste testing! I highly recommend for those who love chocolate and want to know more history behind it. This is the only place i would ever buy expensive chocolate.

Alegio is one of my favorite stores to go to when I am in downtown Palo Alto. I was first introduced to this place by my friend and now we make it a tradition to go to the store each December as a way to celebrate our birthdays.Whenever, I am in the area, I make sure to check the store out and buy myself or friends chocolate from this store as a gift. If you want to treat yourself take their chocolate tasting session. I promise it wont disappoint.Yesterday, I stopped by with my nieces. Robbin was really sweet about sharing how chocolate gets made. She even allowed them to try the cocoa beans. The 4 year-old wasnt a fan, but the one year old craved more. Both of them had a chance to try the chocolate with crystallized orange peel and fell in love.

Has most everything you need and the service is good. It can be busy at times because a lot of people like this place.

Best chocolate available in the bay excluding price. These guys offer special beans from a Africa that arent as bitter as others. Comes at a high price. They are pretty friendly and generously offer tastings. Definitely come in once to try their 100% and 80% with sugar crystals. The boxes are expensive so I only buy from them sparingly but man they are good

Phenomenal place to learn more about REAL chocolate and highly recommend using a Groupon for a chocolate tasting. It was an experience that I will never forget. With ten different samples and an educational experience to see how chocolate is made, it is definitely well worth the price!

Do the chocolate tasting tour, you wont regret it - or maybe you will because itll ruin all other chocolates for you ;-)Even their 100% bar is smooth - still very dark, but its much more palatable than any other 100% bar Ive had.

Great service and great chocolate. Small shop with small batches of pure chocolate from Africa. Prides itself on not being bitter, even at 100% cocoa. Following this, it is very expensive.

We took our 11 and 9 year old kids to a tasting with no expectations that they would like the dark chocolate. We were all pleasantly surprised - the chocolate was excellent and the kids loved it. We also learned a lot about the history of chocolate. Great experience!

Probably the best chocolate I have ever had! I went here for a chocolate tasting and it was an amazing experience. The staff is very friendly and I learned a lot about how they make their chocolate. Some of my favorites included: candied orange chocolate, wine (grapes) chocolate (which is 5% alcohol)

The chocolate that is being sourced at Claudio Corallos shop is nothing short of magical. Simply, the best chocolate I have ever experienced. Everyone had a wonderful time at Alegio for an office outing! Panos was great, answered all of our questions, and even put up with our slightly rowdy bunch. Bring some wine when you visit! Their products are pricier, but high quality and make for great unique gifts.

Went to the chocolate tasting and had a great time. I would definitely do that again. The difference between this chocolate and others is that they remove the germ from making the chocolate. The germ is what gives the chocolate its bitter taste.

Very informative chocolate tasting session. The owner is knowledgeable, and a 45 min class can easily run into 90 to 120 min! A new favorite chocolate destination in the Bay area.

This is the best chocolate I have ever had. And that is saying something. There are shops in NYC that have stuff for $110/lb which is just silly. Allegio chocolate is the sweet spot of outstanding and still affordable to normal people.
