I had a wonderful experience at the Academy of Eye Care! They were friendly, efficient, and had a great selection of glasses. I was in and out in about 30 minutes and felt very well taken care of throughout.My only complaint is how long its taken to receive my glasses. Its been three weeks and typically I dont have to wait this long to receive new glasses. Other than that great service!

They’re very professional and friendly. I love their selections of frames! No waiting forever. I’ve made appts on my lunch hour!

Doctor Byers of Academy of Eye Care is terrifically both amenable and professional and her staff is always friendly and efficient. I love going to my appointments to get updates on my vision.

I have had optometrists in the past that have told me that I wasnt a good candidate for contact lenses.Dr Amanda assured me that she thought she could get my vision correct with contact lenses. It took some effort and patience from her, but I can say I am well pleased.She is awesome and has a great staff.

No long waits and I did not feel like I was being herded through like the big eye practice near Target!!Very friendly concerned staff!

Ive missed this place. Yesterday was my first time back since 2014, due to a change in my insurance. I was very pleased with all aspects of this appointment. I was able to get an appointment quickly. Some of the employees even remembered me from 6 years ago. I truly felt like everyone there cares about their patients. Im so thankful to be able to return to their practice.

I was traveling from out of town, called to see if by chance they could squeeze me in. There just happened to be an early morning cancellation. I had an irritation in one of my eyes. Turns out, it was a good thing I went ahead and made this appointment, rather than waiting to get back home. My irritation was much more than just an irritation. Staff was friendly and the doctor was very kind as well. Took care of me quickly and got a prescription called in right away. Follow up visit scheduled for when I get back home. Thanks again.

Very friendly and knowledgable staff, seemed to generally care and take time with me. Dr actually does most of exam instead of underlings. And they dont require you wear a face diaper!!!!!!!

Dr. Byers and staff has always been great but Sherri at the front desk needs to listen to patients. She blatantly scheduled a full eye exam instead of the eye glass exam that I asked for. I ended up being charged for Sherri’s mistake. I’ve been a patient for over 10 years but this is unacceptable.

I was not rushed. It was refreshing for the doctor to take her time and listen to my concerns. Everyone were very friendly and professional. I didn’t feel like livestock being herded from one location to another to only sit and wait some more. Love it there!

Everyone here is so nice and patient! I went in for my first time to get an exam done and get contacts for my first time and was so appreciative they had given me contacts that day they had some very close to what my vision is. Dr. Amanda Byers is amazing and I didn’t get the assistants name that helped me practice putting in and taking out the contacts but I HIGHLY recommend this place!

I absolutely love them! They were super patient with my crazy rowdy children. They even diagnosed why my daughter has double vision. Which two previous eye doctors had missed. I recommended them to my neighbor that night.

I love these people they have always been kind and courteous they actually care! they have been caring for my family for several years now and I have even seen them open up after hours to help with my disabled daughters glasses in an emergency.

I have been coming here for several years, but it has taken a pandemic to learn just how much this physician really cares about the well-being of her patients.I came in for my yearly appointment and during my visit discussed my concern with Dr. Byers as well as one of the staff members regarding the lack of social distancing and mask wearing from the employees.In talking with the staff member, she danced around it as best she could, but was insinuating that if she were to wear a mask, she would have to deal with blowback from her co-workers. She told me to just bring it up with the doc.After voicing my concern to the physician and the reasoning behind it (being an at-risk individual), I was told that there is no evidence to support mask wearing, and when I brought up the fact that wearing them helps protect the patients that walk through the door, I received a response of Im not going to argue with you from Dr. Byers. It was shocking to me that the idea of helping to keep patients like me safe was not a good enough reason to be open to the idea of wearing a face mask during this time. It was clear that the option for Dr. Byers to put a face mask on during my visit was out of the question.Since I was met with firm disregard, I sent her office a list of REPUTABLE resources for recommendations/studies/literature relating to masks. We should be doing everything we can to protect both ourselves AND others during this time, especially with the increase of cases were seeing with the coming cooler weather.Having experienced firsthand what this virus is capable of, its disheartening to know that local members of the healthcare community are dismissing a key component in limiting community spread of COVID-19. The office is small and with the practice of Optometry, close proximity to patients is inherent and unavoidable. This, coupled with lack of social distancing between employees and the decision not to encourage mask wearing among them provides an environment conducive to disease transmission.I implore Dr. Byers and staff to consider the health of their patients before choosing not to mask up.

My family and I were visiting from out of town when my 5 yr. old daughter got sand in her eye. I thought I had washed it all out but by day two it’d only gotten worse so I took her to Academy of Eye Care and everyone was so beyond friendly! They all welcomed us with open arms knowing we wouldn’t be returning clients. My daughter was scared to death but they made her feel so much at ease, she completely trusted them! I’m so glad I took her because she ended up having sand embedded in her eye and it had scratched her cornea. I can’t thank the doctor and staff enough for being so wonderful to one scared little girl that was in a lot of pain!!

Top to bottom excellent. Dr Byers is great and everyone on the staff seems to go out of their way to help. Despite damage from the hurricane the operation is run like a well oiled machine. Sometimes great reviews are actually true.

Used to love this place! Since the hurricane it has gone completely down hill. Trying to charge fees that even my insurance is questioning. Treated very unprofessionally by Whitney and Courtney. When I had my warranty lenses replaced they literally scratched the lenses with the heat gun and tried to give them to me like that. Waited about 6 weeks just for lense replacement. They are now trying to duplicate charge me for a contact fitting because, its been over a month since I ordered contacts. I will admit my fitting was two months ago I didnt know I was on a time constriction or I would be charged an additional $60 for their greed. I called both my insurance and other practices and they had never heard of such a thing. Hurricane Michael price gouging? Love the doctors the office staff is minimal at best.

Had what ended up being a scratched cornea, but was extremely painful. They told me to come on in even though they were totally booked. Didnt have to wait more than 15 minutes. Got me in and helped me quickly. Everyone is extremely pleasant and sweet as well. Will not go anyplace else.

Fast, but complete eye exam..not the normal 3 minute test and done. Dr and optometrist both spent time to get me the Best prescription and glasses...awesome

They take great care of my 8 year old daughter. Wonderful for those just needing glasses. They help to explain how the eye works and why you need correction with glasses/contacts.

I first saw Dr. Campbell when she worked at the Walmart Optical Center. I was very comfortable with her right away. She then changed over to Academy of Eye Care and I followed her there. She has always been very thorough with my care, even sending me to a neurologist and then a specialist in Tallahassee. She errs on the side of caution and continues to follow up with me yearly. There is a short wait at times, however I expect that. The care and attention, in addition to the professionalism and knowledge have kept me coming back; my mother is also a patient of Dr. Campbells.

They are so nice and introduced me to new multi focus contacts. Something my old eye. Dr had never mentioned. Wearing them now and. I have not been able to see this well WITHOUT THE USE OF READERS! In years. Extremely greatful. I have already refered many friends to the. Academy. If. Eye. Care.

Over priced and very disappointing customer service. I was a customer for many years. I was recently hurt and unable to go in for my annual check-up. I asked if I could order one pack of contact lenses until I was able to walk again (Fl law requires a two year check up). The person on the phone was completely uncaring and rude. Said she only followed office rules and I would have to come in to get ANY contacts. Bye bye academy of eye care.

Great environment quality care. Was told by other Doctor that I could not wear contacts.Dr. Byers said that I could and after one follow up visit I am now wearing them and love it.She is the best!

Office staff is friendly. They were very patient with my daughter who has a phobia about getting her eyes dilated. The staff was understanding and eventually helped get her eyes dilated to complete the exam.

My son and I have been getting our eye exam here for over 7 years with no big issues until I picked up my last pair of glasses and was first told I needed to pay 83 more dollar to get the glasses even though I paid the entire balance of $200 that was requested when I ordered them. When I protested the payment and showed my receipt that states my portion should be $200.... Which I paid. After waiting 20 minutes for them to sort everything and they called the insurance company one of the staff told me I still owed $10. I asked for the information stating I owed $210 instead of the $200 I had already paid. After several attempts they could not manipulate the amount I was to pay, they only could get it to state $200. I was running late for work so I just paid it and the glasses are awful. I was told the office would contact me when the insurance company paid it portion for my refund. This never happened. There were new staff assisting me and I still cant see out of the glasses. Ive contacted the insurance commission and Im waiting for resolution.

Our first impression of this place was not the best. The wait & appointment in general is pretty long. Staff are not very friendly in the office or on the phone. Communication between the staff & patients needs improvement. My husband went here for his eye appointment & we probably won’t be back again.

I had a very good experience with Dr. Campbell. She was very professional and pit me at ease. Her staff was excellent as well. I would definitely recommend her.

I made an appointment for noon. Arrived 10 min early for paperwork. Was still waiting at 12:25. Asked several times how long I would need to wait since I was trying to do this on an extended lunch hour. She checked and never told me. I left and will not return. My time is just as valuable as theirs. Obviously they overbooked. What a wasted time and very disappointed.

I see dr. Julie Campbell, and I have seen her for years. I recommend her to everyone who needs Eye Care. The entire staff at this facility is amazingly friendly. The people who work there are very fast with what they do, and when I bought my glasses, and they arrived, they called me right away to let me know they were in. I also do not have eye insurance, and their prices are very good.

When I contacted this office and asked if they took United Health Care Vision they checked and said they do. We made two appointments with Dr Campbell who we really like. Today we get to their office and fill out the paperwork and they informed us that they do not take this insurance.

Dr Byers is great, I had been using her for years with my daughter. The new doctor and issues with it, I will not be back. Its a shame that someone new can mess up something so good.

Be prepared to wait in the lobby even if you have an appointment. Other than that service is great. Staff very professional and courteous

Nobody wears a mask and if you inquire they say they are not required. Perhaps this is not a priority for you, however, for me it speaks volumes about customer care/service.

Doctor is thorough. Optical shop is horribly unorganized, incompetent and should not be in business.

I bought a pair of fully loaded glasses for my son with warranty and when we tried to get them replaced.... almost 3 months later of my child being without his glasses...we are still waiting for them to come in. will never go back to this place

The entire staff that works at this facility are phenomenal. My girlfriend had severe eye trauma which was misdiagnosed by Bay Med, and had it not been for Academy of Eye Care she would have lost her eye.

Dr. Quesada, was extremely knowledgeable with my eye problem. She offered me options Concidering my financial situation. I highly recommend Dr Quesada, everyone at academy of eye care was extremely kind and helpful.

I ordered a pair of replacement glasses when one of mine got a scratch on it. I was told they would be in within 7-10 business days. I kept following up and gave up after a month passed by. Terrible customer service; do not recommend!

Ive gotten my glass here for years until i moved. I got a new pair right before i moved and they were very wrong. I didnt go back until two years later. They made me a new pair with my new rx and mailed them to me for free. I am amazed at their customer service!
