Almost 1 hour(53 minutes to be more precise) for two drinks and an order of churros!!...I dont think this place provides the proper training skills to their employees!..
Very cool take on Horchata and many unique drinks to enjoy. We ordered the Horchata Frappe and the Iced Green Tea Horchata, both turned out very good and enjoyable to drink. Also the Churro Sundae was very different and so delicious. Overall fun cool decor inside with Frida Kahlo everywhere which we love and amazing drinks! Also dont forget to check out their merchandise and shop online, really cool take stuff they have.
One of the BEST desserts I have had in a long time. Homemade churro with ice-cream and guava toppings. A must try.
It was great it was amazing and it was so fresh and cool inside and the vibe was positive and music was chill awesome experience!!!! Also the Pins and Expo was sweet.
It was mine and my husbands first time trying their items. We walked in and the employee said they were closed and to go through the drive thru. We proceeded and the menu in the drive thru only listed two sizes which confused us, and so we ordered their large drinks unknowingly. They said it was $9 each!? What the heck, that is more than Starbucks.Anyhow, we got our size reduced which the manager was really nice about.HOWEVER,My order (Horchata frappe w/o coffee) tasted like grounded up sand and it was very chalky! My husbands drink (Churro frappe) tasted like mediocre unflavored vanilla shake with cinnamon.I cannot believe it.. We are disappointed and that is why, today, we are going to Tierra Mia.
The Café de Olla is perfectly done. The location is clean and very inviting. The owners are vested in their products...great job!
Ordered a churro frappe with double shot espresso, tasted like nothing but milk and ice blended. No flavor whatsoever.
56 minutes to get a mazapan frappe and a cajeta frappe No CHINGUEN
It was my first and only time coming here.My family and I were in the drive thru for 30 plus minutes . Two cars before the order windowA worker comes out saying they are closed and not taking anymore orders. That’s some shady stuff. Why wouldn’t they put a sign that no orders after 10 so that customer won’t waste their time waiting is line .It’s called common courtesy!!!
Amazing! Love this place. Very delicious!
This is the new location for Horchateria. I drove over an hour to check this place out (freaked out when I headed over the old location, thank God it was only 5 min away) and was sadly disappointed as the experience was meh. Just like their employees. The guy that took our order was not super friendly or outgoing. Some feedback I would like to give this place is to have some photos of what to expect (like on the menus). There is a variety of items on the menu but don’t know what to expect. There are restrooms locating in the facility. The place is massive and the their wasn’t a lot of people on a Saturday evening, so it felt awkward. They had an extra room with what seemed like vendors and music. No signs to enter and browse once again very awkward. The staff could’ve been friendlier. The prices were okay... bought two drinks a small keychain concha, a sugar cookie, air freshener and pin for around $32. The place is massive and just very empty... kind of a let down. The moment you walk in you see a sign to head to your left and follow through a straight path... felt like I was in a maze... Needless to say would I drive over an hour again? No, I’ll pass and try something new. Ps. Horchateria you need to update your address in google maps... don’t give people a mini heart attack when they head over to the previous location to see black metal bars and a closed sign)...
Oaxaca horchata is really good as well as the cajeta frappe. Highly recomended place to sit an enjoy a cup of coffee
Amazing place! I am so glad I tried this. The drinks were amazing and the price was fair for the quality of the drinks. I will say the cookies are too cute to eat. And honestly they werent up to par with the quality of the drinks. The cookies are also a bit pricey and not worth it for the flavor. Use your $5 for another drink instead (:
We wait 53 minutes for two frappe and an order of mini churros and on top of that they lost our order!!...
Good stuff. Staff needs to be trained in customer service.
Churros and coffee are good but there should be a sign saying that dine in is close at 9 instead of 10. I walked in at 9:10 and a rude employee yelled saying “dine in area is close go through the drive thru” they should at least take orders to go even if you’re not dining in. The drive thru is open until 10 (if you’re in the car waiting and it’s almost 10 you might not get a chance to order because they will just tell you that they are close once 10 hits) so please Horchateria make it clear here and in the store what is open and what is closed.
This place take for ever to give some churros.
There is alwayyyyyyyyys a line. BUT WORTH THE WAIT. Try something new here and you will only like it here. They have MASTERED specialty items that are now getting more popular in different states. Horchata and coffee is fantastic. The best Ive had, and I like to try it when its available. Concha ice cream sandwich was perfect! Check out their cute products for sale, support local artist and buy a one of a kind product. Trust me, I get compliments everywhere I go on my concha keychain.
I cant believe I havent left a review for this place yet as Ive been coming here (and their previous locale) for some years now, but after today and the experience we had at the drive thru I thought that I should. They got me my large order pretty fast and made sure we had everything we needed before we pulled away. And of course the drinks were absolutely delicious, as were the pastries. This place has always been good to me and thats why Ive kept coming here year after year.
Favorite place to get churros. My favorite is the churro Sunday. Delicious!
Very clean and authentic, great and friendly service 👍
Loved the drink here! And soo happy they had vegan options yay! I got the vegan horchata matcha and my cousin got the churro frappe
Coffees and desserts are wonderful. Nice to see them in a new location with plenty of space to experiment.
I was excited to try this place but I was a bit disappointed 😞. The frappé I order didnt have the consistency of a frappé. It was more like milk. It was ok.
Cute shop but if your main dessert is churros I expect good churros.. The churros didnt have enough cinnamon sugar on them they werent hot even tho it says they fry them per order. Also the texture wasnt soft and fluffy inside they were kind of dry. I got the mazapan frappe and I could taste the mazapan. But, it got watery and I couldnt taste the coffee in it.
I really want to give this place a one star but I’m going to be generous because this isn’t usually happen but I waited 35 minutes in the drive-through for one drink they need to move a lot faster I see them talking inside all the time and they have all this food and drinks behind them and don’t have my drink ready. This is a drive-through not a park and wait for half an hour they need to park people whose orders are big And just got faster in general so disappointed and bothered tonight did not end well.
Disappointed that they dont have brewed coffee or drip coffee however you would call it ready to go I mean 9 am isnt so early and it would be good to have all coffee available and ready to go by the time the place opens, sometimes people like myself have no time to wait for the person to start making the batch of coffee this is the only place that has told me I have to wait until the make it most places are ready to go unless they run out and have to make more thats a different story
Online orders unavailable & staff informed us that phone in orders were not being taken. We decided to make the 30min drive to the store, and upon arrival were told the 8 orders would take an additional 30 minutes.Great product & staff. But management needs to address customer service issue. Best churro in the area, the entire family was disappointed.
Horchateria Rio Luna serves up the greatest Cafe de Olla. Lightly sweetened with a hint of cinnamon. Pair that with some fresh Churros makes for greatness. Not a huge place, does have seating inside, but gets busy quick. Plenty of parking outside as it is located in a strip mall. Id give this place 10 stars if I could.
Do you want to be reminded of how much you love Mexico and everything Mexican? Do you want to stuff your face with some amazing pastry ice cream combinations? Do you want to have a Horchata Frapuchino? Of course you do!!! How some one has not put such an amazing combination together before is beyond me. Tons of art and Mexican nostalgia. Great ambiance, super friendly people, great service are just some of the things awaiting you at this local family owned business. Its not a franchise, but if it becomes one its literally going to take over the coffee/Arthouse/ generally having a great time and hanging out business.Do yourself a favor and go try it. It borders on a life changing experience.
Food and drink were great. I think that maybe they could be a little more organized and work a little more efficiently. We waited for over an hour in the drive thru and the cashier was standing around watching the other employees scramble to get the orders together. They got me my churros and I waited another 15 min for my latte. The entire 15 minutes the cashier was standing and watching. The other employees were getting other orders together and one of them finally remembered that I was waiting on my drink.
The horchata iced coffee is like Christmas in a cup and the churros brought happy tears to my eyes!! Made this chunky girl so happy!
I found Horchateria Rio Luna on Facebook. There was a video that had gone viral about the place, and the next time my family visited the LA area, I thought, I have got to try this place. And so we did. Apparently, we got lucky visiting in the middle of the day during a weekday because there was no line. We got a churro sundae, an horchata, and a concha ice cream sandwich. The concha ice cream sandwich was my FAVE - so DELISH! & the shopping, way cute stuff - very cutesy, boutique Mexican. The place is in a shopping center, so plenty of parking. If youre in the area, go check this place out. ;)
I came here because I head of it through Instagram so why not try something new! It was okay, the concha is good 😜 I waited like 20-30 mins in line to order on a Saturday so it does get packed. I ordered the concha with ice cream and an horchata iced coffee (I didnt really like it) my boyfriend got the horchata frappe and it was better than the coffee. Anyways, just give it a try it if you havent yet, maybe youll like it or love it but for me its not my omg this is my new to go place. P.S. My boyfriend said que le encanto 😉👍🏽
Great coffee!!! And service
Churros were hot, fresh, and delicious! We also got a pumpkin Horchata Latte and it was very good!
Fun and fast service great music.
Long lines, but worth it. The churros are really good. But dont over order. One order of churros are good for 2 people. Super busy in the evenings and weekends.
Really good the churros are really good the horchata frappe delicious 😋
I was actually surprised on how good it was and the sizes are huge. Over all great place
Delicious and awesome place! I had waited almost 2 years to finally make a visit to California and come here. Great menu and awesome variety! I ordered the small concha ice cream sandwich along with the Horchata Oaxaca, which had pieces of cantaloupe, walnuts, and served with pitaya sorbet. Nice space and feels open. Aside from their food menu, they carry many products from local and Latinx artists...which is a very nice touch. From Latinx food themed pillows and housewares, to mugs, childrens books, and so much more. It really is a place for Latinx community to appreciate and feel represented, as well as for other people of different heritages to appreciate what it means to be Latinx.
Great atmosphere, a pleasure and delightful mexican oriented coffee shop. A variable choice of Pan Dulce would make a great add on in the near future.
Never had a bad pastry here. Everything is so good and mouth watering I try to come here at least once a week😋
This place is amazing! I went twice while visiting and if you can swing an early morning, thats really the best time. We got there when the doors opened and had the place to ourselves. I came back with a friend a different time and the line was out of the door at 9! We enjoyed those delicious churros at 10 :) worth it!
Love it here. Specially their vegan options
Im a hard critic, but sweet lord that was a fine dessert. Will definitely return for round two.
Place was so good I wish they had more & closer to Orange County!I had never heard of this place until a friend from out of state said it was on his To-Go List for Cali. We drove an hour to get here in horrendous traffic but well worth it.They have churros -my fave- & horchata -another fave-.Cute decorations throughout the store.Service was ok.
Amazing! The concha icecream sandwich is one of the best ones Ive had. Plus the shop itself is super cute.
I just went today.Got an horchata frappe as usual. And I thought I was tripping but it was disgustingI tasted my cousins and it tasted goodSo I think they put expired ingredients in mine. I can feel my stomach churning right now it was disgusting
The BEST💯they have Amazing Drinks and yummy desserts! I love this place i live in Downtown LA i NEVER mind the drive to horchateria
Cutest coffee shop ever and the yummiest drinks !!!
Hands down some of the best churros Ive had!!
Vegan churros are every vegans dream! The server recommended the strawberry and guava drizzles and they did not disappoint! My boyfriend was sad he got plain churros after realizing how yummy the drizzles were! The server was nice and super cool. We got there right before the line got super long and there were lots of families there. Great atmosphere. I highly recommend.
The place is very unique along with the flavors and desserts. I was excited to try it out. And I can say that it meet my expectations. The churro sundae & the concha ice cream sandwich were very good desserts. And the frapuccinos are delicious. I dont know about any other place where you can get a horchata frappe, mazapan frappe & cajeta frappe. I love the decorations.
Had to make it for Star Wars day!! The churros of course were amazing
Luckily we were driving through this part of LA and made a stop. So worth it!! I loved the horchata iced coffee, but I am glad my friend and I split a churro sundae with horchata ice cream. INCREDIBLE. My friend (who is Mexican) had been craving churros, and these were the best kind - fluffy but still crunchy, and not greasy. Everything had great flavor and the folks working there were so friendly.
Service was friendly and fast,Atmosphere was great. The churros were delicious.
Very cool place to visit......one of a kind.
