It doesnt get better than BotW. Imagine if you dreamt up a beer shop that sells single cans of everything on the shelves, has plenty in coolers, plus cider, whiskey, wine and spirits, not to mention a taproom with consistently great selection that you can get in multiple formats (I think 4-16oz),and a seating area with ample, varied space that includes sofas and tables. Good dream? This is that dream come true. The icing on the cake? And actually most important of all, is that the staff know pretty much everything they have, and give awesome recommendations, from a special shelf reminiscent of the blockbuster video staff picks, to simply asking them, got anything like... and they can point it out immediately. Oh, and they have an attached café next door. It just gets better n better!
Really friendly and knowledgeable service. Very fair prices. I wish they would serve their session beers in pints( you can only get 12 oz servings).
Great place to try beers on tap or get a few cans for at home. Price per can is reasonable and allows you to not feel bad if you dont like a beer and dump it. Best beer shop in the area!
A truly wonderful bottle shop. I’ve been going to Beer on the Wall inconsistently since they’ve opened, & each time you can see their popularity is taking off. They have a wonderful taplist & an equally diverse selection of bottles. Indoors they have a nice selection of board games & even an NES that’s open to the public. If you’re ever in Park Ridge, stop by, you won’t regret it.
This is the Mecca of beer stores. Whats really awesome is that they have a bar serving craft beer. . .So 10:05 AM, Saturday May 25, 2019, I ordered an IPA from the bar and then walked around to check out their imitable beer selection. Man, I was a kid in a candy store. I asked one of the staff a beer recommendation--I wanted to try at least one Ive never had before--the first 5 she rattled off, Ive had, but I knew shed knew her beer, as they were all outstanding. She finally recommended some I havent had, and she was spot on as I am currently on my back deck enjoying them.It took my a few minutes to figure out the arrangement, but it made logical sense when I figured it out. Beers arent just arranged by style. For example your favorite local IPA may be on one part of the store but an IPA from say California would be in another. With the exception of singles (in case you want to take a road soda or two), the beer is not refrigerated, which is fine as their inventory obviously gets rotated frequently, ergo there beer is always fresh.Opportunity for improvement: I noticed for most people the hand-held baskets by the door were sufficient for their beer drinking needs, but Im not most people. I drove quite a ways to get here, so Im going to load up my trunk with delicious beer. I had to make 5 trips with the hand-held basket. . .So itll be nice if they also had a shopping cart or two.I will damn sure make the pilgrimage here again. . .and again, and again, and again!
Very nice and chill spot. I came after work, mainly to sign up for a drawing. Thought while I was there let me try some beers. Not disappointed at all! Definitely would come back again. Great selection! And I know I can get into trouble with that selection. In a good way.One downside for me, no fault at all of the owners. Is the chairs at the bar area are a little small for a big guy like me. But I figured it out and still had a nice relaxing time.
Fantastic selection of beers from near and far. Mostly to take away but there is a small draft section as well. The staff are friendly and helpful. If I lived closer, they would have all my money!
Great selection, knowledgeable staff anle to make good recommendations.
If you would like to meet with friends and enjoy delicious beer 🍺 without food obligation its a great place.
They have a huge selection! Very impressed I could fine Southern Grist and Drekkers here!
The perfect place if youre looking to try new beers regularly whether its on tap, on the shelves, or their monthly beer subscription service.
Beer On the Wall is my favorite place to buy beer at.They have an excellent selection most of the time, the draft beers are always fresh and they get limited drops. the best part is that you dont have to purchase an entire 4 or 6 pack just to try a beer. You can just buy one.The staff here is always happy and energetic. Not sure what you want? Ask them and they are sure to help.
The best spot to enjoy a tasty beer in Park Ridge. Period.
I accidently put my review at On the Wall Cafe :(
One of the coolest things about this store is that you can break 6-packs to build your own 6-pack variety. Of course you should scope out the fridge and shelves to see if there are any single beers that catch your eyes or spark your taste buds, but if you find a multi pack in the store youre interested in, just take it to the tap area and the staff will assist. I also tried the Sofie-mosa and it certainly tasted like the perfect Sunday brunch drink!
Awesome new find! As a stout drinker, I was in heaven. Found this place when looking for a coffee shop and was pleasantly surprised to find it and so much more. I cant wait to get a large group together to meet there and play one of the many board games or classic NES. Always great options on tap for everyone. Plus the fridge is always stocked to buy and drink there.
Best place in the suburbs to get craft beer. Its great that they carry newly released items from our favorite breweries. My boyfriend and I basically stopped by every week to stock up on new things.
Outstanding selection of beer to go or to stay and drink. Tap selection is ever-changing and ever-interesting. Staff very knowledgeable and its easy to spend time in this comfy and casual spot. Order a flight and stick around the bar for the occasional gratis sample of something new and fun. Great for a quick drink or an evening of fun. Grab a few brews for your home bar while youre at it!
Beer on the Wall (BOTW) has everything. Pay them a visit and you will not be disappointed! Highly recommend!!!
Best place around!
Really different experience, not only do they have some really affordable awesome beers on tap but they have several fridges to cool bottles and cans to enjoy in a glass as well. Was able to have a couple beers and walk around the store and browse the unique selection of beer. Extra points for the cool seating and NES out to play.
Staff is amazing! We came to celebrate our friends 29th birthday and they played the music we requested, answer questions we had and were very nice with everything else! I recomend this place if yoj are looking for a chill environment and willing to try and retry different beer/wine! Great place to go because of the staff!
Great service and great selection! Just moved in the neighborhood but Im already a fan.
One of the best places to find anything beer related. Staff is super friendly and always offers great recommendations.
The owner should be patted on the back for letting his staff have a day to decompress. I know things are hard and as a community we should be supporting local businesses not arguing about dogs or having to wear a mask. Cheers to you guys. Keep on keeping on.
Always a pleasant place to grab a beer with friends. The food from off the wall is always good and I have yet to try most things but the nachos never disappoint.
Best beer selection around. Been here many times. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. John, in particular, is awesome.
Unparalleled selection. Staff is great and knowledgeable. Love the micro and nano brew drops they get.
This place is awesome! Great staff, eager to help out and give suggestions.
My first time visiting from out of town was a great experience. There was an excellent selection of beer. The staff was great, super patient and knowledgeable. I left with a big selection of local and regional beers that Ive never heard of before. All were excellent recommendations. Ill be back!
I cant speak highly enough of this place. The staff is the best. The beer selection is great. The tastings are frequent. Really like the ability to reserve the back for small parties for free. I could live without all the kids, but that tends to be a Friday night thing...so go on other nights.
Pretty cool place they have going on here. Walked in and was wowed immediately. Their tap menu is awesome and Im told they update it regularly. Their beer selection is also one of the best Ive seen in the area. Will be coming here again.
Very cool place. But be ready to pay extra if you want to drink outside on the patio area. It cost $20 for 2 cans of beer that were originally priced at $3 each. If I knew that I would have just bought 2 individual 6 packs for the same price from their huge selection and drank them somewhere else
Outstanding selection. Always helpful. One of my favorite places to go in Park Ridge!
Such a great place for All kinds of local beer
I love this place! This is one of the few establishments I visit often, with the little free time I have. Ive been meaning to write a review for a while. BOTW is a quaint storefront with a cozy bar. There are a good amount of tables and lounging areas to accommodate groups of varying sizes. They even added a small outdoor seating area by the entrance. You get a street view of parked cars and its literally across the street from a Metra train stop. Parking can be pretty sparse during busy evenings, especially Friday/the weekend. Its nextdoor to the Harp & Fiddle Restaurant which can get fairly busy. Generally I can find a close-ish spot, but you may wind up parking a block or two away. It doesnt bother me since Im used to the area but I can see it being an issue for people who would expect a nearby lot or ample parking. It has a really laid back, local coffee shop type feel and its a nice atmosphere to chill. They dont serve food but it is BYOF. Ive brought takeout and even home cooked dinner. Ive come here alone with my laptop to get some work done and have a couple drinks. My husband and I once bought our 4 and 6 year olds who thought the old school Nintendo was so cool.I had my birthday party here last winter and it was one of the best birthdays Ive had! Ryan and Eric couldnt have been more awesome about accommodating and taking care of my group. I had about 25 or so guests, most of whom live in the area and had never been there. So many people told me how much they loved it and planned to come back. At that time they were only offering beer and coffee (Dark Matter coffee, which is now my favorite btw). I think thats changed because Im pretty sure I saw wine and some hard liquor on the shelves when I was there last week. They offer quite a decent variety of craft beers on tap in a constant rotation. I love trying something different every time and discovering new favorites with the flights. They have an overwhelming selection of beer, some of which are sold individually in the fridge ready for you to grab and drink if youre not into whats on tap. I love the beer chalkboard. You can gift someone a beer, flight, $ amount, whatever for them to cash in the next time theyre in!I saw recently that they are opening up a new location. Its awesome to see BOTWs success. I can tell the owner, Ryans heart is in this. I see him here at least every other time I come in. Im looking forward to seeing their upcoming location.
Great place. Love the selection. Easy to order online and pick up quickly at store.
Laid-back craft beer hangout with a wide selection of items that Binnys might not even have. Will be back. Good luck with finding parking.
Great place to stop by and have a drink. The staff is always friendly and is very knowledgeable. They have a few tables and let you bring food/snacks in to enjoy with your beer. Also serves great coffee in the mornings. They have an ever changing draft selection and many many beers in bottles/cans.
This place has a great beer selection. They have a great variety of ALL kinds of beer and always have seasonal options as well. Highly recommend for any beer lover to stop by. You can enjoy beer on site and they also have board games and super Nintendo’s set up if you want to hang out there.
Great selection, very knowledgeable staff, friendly, with amazing selection. Not too load, great place for working with tables etc. You can buy singles of any packs of beer, and they’ll even chill it for you to consume on-site.
This place is awesome. We thought it was just going to be a beer store, bit when we walked in, it was a bar! With board games! They have a really awesome gift card wall where you can prepay and leave a flight for people. Being Canadians, someone had left a flight for the next Canadians, so we had one and left two for future guests. If youve never been to this place, I highly recommend it. Board games, Nintendo, and all the beer your heart could want, tucked into a nice little area!
Great selection of beers in a store-like setting. There is a place to play games and have a birthday party too. I saw people order food from local restaurants, or you can bring your own snack.
Great Place they have different craft beers on tap and they have a large selection of craft beers, different wines and hard liquor. They also sell dark matter coffee
Fantastic selection of beers! And awesome people working there. They will help you find new beers to taste, and theyre amazingly friendly while doing it. Theyve got board games, a Nintendo Wii and a refurbished NES for entertainment. If youre ever in Park Ridge, and you like yourself a good beer, this one is a must.
My favorite place to grab a drink. Just the best.
Have been coming since they opened. Amazing staff and always something new on the tap list. Don’t know how you could have a bad experience here. Park Ridge is lucky to have them.
Nice store. Interesting beers. Some I have not seen anywhere else. Oddly I was pleased that they had some normal beer as well. Higher prices than the big stores but you pay for speed and convenience.
Beer On the Wall is such an amazing part of the community. Even as someone who prefers whiskey over beer, I absolutely love it for many different reasons. First of all, the owner and staff are all great people, super knowledgeable and welcoming. You can tell that theyre in business to fulfill a passion and it shows. Their selection of craft beers is the best in the area and theyre always bringing in hard to find beers from some of the top breweries. They also have a selection of liquors too, but unfortunately they only have a beer license so you cant drink any liquor on site. The icing on the cake is that they also have coffees and teas for the non-beer drinkers, especially during the daytime when you need a spot to work from. Beer On the Wall is definitely a gathering place for the community, its a kid friendly spot and its my favorite spot in the area.
I love this place. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. But they are not stuffy or snooty about beer. I asked for a recommendation for my husband that like dark, dark beers and they had awesome ideas to try out!
I bought a 6 pack of Le Tub from Whiner Beer Co. It tasted sour for a farm house ale. I couldnt finish it due to the awful taste and dismissed it thinking it was just the type of beer only to discover later that I had been sold beer that expired 6 months prior. Check the date when buying, as they probably dont restock often due to the wide variety of options they have. Otherwise the ambiance of the place is welcoming and seems like a good spot to catch up with friends as they offer several board and video games.
The place is great, good service. Google says its dog friendly. However it is not. I brought my dog here and pets are not welcome.
Awesome place to go and try new beer.
My favorite place for craft beer in the suburbs. Casual atmosphere with knowledgeable staff. Great place for a couple drinks with a friend or small group.
Great craft beer store with very knowledgeable staff. They also have 12 taps that are rotated often so you can sample the beers and ciders. 4 Oz Flights for tasting or you can enjoy a full size brew. Different seating areas with a couple of video systems bar height tables and lounge chairs throughout the shop.
A great selection of craft beers and other items, friendly and helpful staff, and delivery options for a very reasonable area make this one of the best, if not THE best craft beer stores in the area.
Who knew that stodgy Park Ridge could hide a hipster enclave right next to the train depot on Main Street? Obviously, all of the young, bearded beer nerds getting off work, the young couples holding hands while trying a new IPA, or even the young parents relaxing in the game area with their toddlers. The result, for me at least, in my first visit, was a welcoming neighborhood vibe, comfortable but still stylish. I enjoyed a custom flight of four samplers which I selected from the daily menu of roughly 30 drafts. The bar staff knowledgeably helped me with this and served it up professionally and with warmth.Although this was only my first visit, and Id been wanting to go for a long time, I do plan to go back-- more as a special occasion than a regular place, for me, though.
Its a pretty awesome place. Surprisingly they serve coffee and its excellent! I didnt drink any beer at the bar so Im not sure of their price point. The only I wasnt crazy about was when searching for beer, I wasnt able to ask for any ones help. It seems everyone working is behind the bar (mid-day Saturday).
Best place in Park Ridge for craft beer, beer knowledge and beer loving staff. The beer selection is top-notch. The employees are helpful and friendly. If youre passing through or live in the surrounding suburbs, you should definitely stop in. Cheers to great beers!
Great place! They have a great beer-to-go selection and about a dozen taps with new and uncommon beer. There is plenty of seating and games to play. The atmosphere is laid back and well lit. Will go again!
This was an unexpected surprise. I dropped in with my wife looking for some bar supplies. They are very beer-centric so they didnt have what we were looking for (vermouth, bitters, etc) but they do have a great beer selection and it seems like you could just hang out here and play some games while enjoying your purchase.
Originally I gave them 3 stars because the coffee seemed overpriced. The owner clearly cares a lot about good customer service and customer satisfaction. After I posted my review, the owner reached out to find out why I gave the rating I did, and then comped my coffee. I was surprised with this level of care and customer satisfaction quality. Bumping up my rating for this reason. A portion of my original review is below.Really cool vibe between bar and coffee shop. Lots of seating, nice interior, calming and easy to work in. However I wouldn’t get coffee here again.
Great little place. Not the largest selection on tap but they always have something different/unique. Also, it is fun to peruse the bottle selection they have for sale.
Awesome place! And you can even get coffee and chill not necessarily a beer. And the beers options it’s magnificent
Great place for a beverage and conversation. Large variety of beer on tap. Great for sampling. Knowledgeable staff to assist in trying new brews.
Trivia nights on Wednesdays are the best!
Great selection, helpful & friendly staff, really cute space! Be prepared for slightly pricy tap pours. They also have coffee!
Enjoyed the great selection of coffee by Dark Matter and regional beers on tap. The shelves are loaded with quality beer selection and staff were both friendly and knowledgeable. Overall, a great spot for work and libation.
Amazing bottle shop and beer bar with regular tastings. Also keeps evolving to include new features such as tasty iced and cold brew coffee from local roasters like Dark Matter and recent additions of liquor and wine for sale.
Unbeatable collection of local craft beers and a great vibe to just hang out and play some old school NES.
Really great shop! Super friendly and knowledgeable. I enjoyed my visit here and look forward to coming back!
Great staff, great selection.
Great atmosphere and selection. Super friendly staff. Loved it.
This place is a great idea for beer lovers and I used to go there for limited beer releases until I was checking out with the cashier who i think was new, another gentleman had come over to check me out I mentioned I wanted to drink a beer on location which i was charged for which is a little ridiculous since I already paid extra for the 4 pack itself. The second gentleman walked away and original cashier stepped back in, I paid my bill and upon asking for a glass for my in house pour that i paid for I was interrogated by second gentleman who rang me up asking what products I purchased and what my bill was. Thought I was buying beer not at a police station being interviewed. Havent been back since but great idea for a beer store
I cant believe I havent rated beer on the wall yet. I think this is my favorite store on the planet. If you love beer, come get your geek on!
The beer specials were good but hey $5 for a 4 oz pour. Better go to the bank youll need lots of cash to have fun here.
If you like craft beer at fair prices with great selection, come here
Lots of beer, knowledgeable. Helpful. No pressure sales. Pleasant environment but no food to go with the drink.
Versus what I expected, the beer list for what would be drinkable at the place is just all right. The taps were meh, the bottles in the fridge were limited. Some of the other bottles on the shelf were better selections; however, price point wise it just was not worth it to me. It is a good concept, and if they could get better draft and fridge bottles it might be worth going back to test again.
Beer on the Wall is an excellent addition to The Summit of Park Ridge. There is always a plethora of beers to choose from. Every Friday theyll host a free beer tasting from local breweries. Theyre awesome.
Knowledgeable staff, great selection, fun atmosphere.
Great place with large selection of bottles and cans. Decent seating and things to keep busy, like nitendo and board games. Only thing that could be better is a larger draft menu
Such a cool place. Cant wait till it expands!
Was never there. Further, I dont drink. I am disgusted I recieved this thing in the first place. Other than that, I have no complaints. Goodnight John boy!!
Great mix of rotating beer on tap, samples and flights to experiment. Excellent retail selection and laid back but helpful folks working here. Have some new beers, play a game and chill for a bit.
Outstanding service and great varietals! Must go!
Lots of fun beers and outdoor seating.
Really nice place to play games! We were trying to play board game but music was too loud and we couldn’t hear each other. They were almost closed and it was few people so I asked the staff to make music not that loud. He said no in a rude manner. I am not sure if I will come back.
