Literally the worst auto experience i have ever had. listen i am 23 years old i have never written a google review in my life but this place is just?? awful? brought my car in due to battery issues and was told my alternator was bad. was told they could fix it within two hours. SIX HOURS of sitting in the shop and it was done. did it fix the problem? nope. brought it back a week later and was told i had to bring my car back on a saturday for a special electrical worker to look at my car (after an hour of waiting) so i bring it back today. brought the car in at 9 am thinking it would be done today before this hurricane comes. nope just called the shop and they haven’t even looked at my car and they know nothing of a special electrical worker. 500 dollars into my car so far and zero problems solved. don’t waste your time just take your car somewhere else because this place is extremely unorganized and will just take your money without fixing any issues.

Not the best place to go. Less than friendly services from the men, kind and friendly service from the one girl who works there (she was super sweet when dealing with me). First time I went, had a 4 hour wait for an inspection. I figured it was just busy. Second time: had to get one (literally just a singular) tire changed and it took 4 hours. Third time here, they said they’d be done by 3:15 for a 2PM appointment to get an inspection. It’s now 5 PM and they haven’t even started on my car.I totally understand how busy it can get, or if they’re understaffed but then they need to allot more time for each customer or be honest with their capabilities. I suggest going somewhere with faster times and friendlier staff. Pepboys is cheap, but you get what you pay for, I suppose. This doesn’t sound like an employee problem but more of a management problem.

Dave is very good at handling the administration and customer service at the auto center. Good discounts with coupons and reliable service. Dave makes sure you leave the center satisfied. You receive good work on your car. Prices are at the middle to low range prior to the coupons. You can find cheaper places, but does cheaper mean equivalent or better work? Probably not. Always new parts only. In the past, I preferred lower prices to newer parts. My mind is changed because SAFETY IS MORE IMPORTANT TO ME. Are mistakes made occasionally? Rarely, and all administrative in my experience. Pep Boys N. PATCHOGUE meets my price to service comparison standards. I am wary of going elsewhere because if something is working well for you personally, why attempt to fix it?

I would like to thank all of the staff in the auto shop and the auto customer service counter for their amazing service today. I brought my car in for an oil change and inspection. Even though I forgot my cell phone with the coupon for the oil change, they honored it anyway. When there was an issue with a part on my car, they went out of their way to get the part delivered same day so they could complete the job. This did take longer than they had anticipated, but they made sure to communicate every step of the way, and even let me use their phone to call my husband so he could come by with another car when the time got close to a doctor’s appointment I needed to get to. Furthermore, the total cost was so reasonable. Thank you all again for your dedication to customer service and quality auto work!

I read some negative reviews on here and I cant speak to those but my experience there today it was excellent.My windshield wiper broke in the middle of an absolute downpour torrential rain. Pep Boys was the closest to me. When I entered the store, I was greeted almost immediately. I told the woman I needed a windshield wiper and a headlight and how could I find the correct one for my car. In previous experiences at other Auto Parts places they pointed me in the right direction. Here they looked it up with the computer and then went and retrieved it for me themselves. She told me all of the price points that were available and help me choose the product I wanted. I asked her if windshield wipers were easy to install and she said they can be but if I had any difficulty to pull around back and they would help me. After 5 minutes of getting soaked trying to install it, I gave up and pulled around back. Within 1 second so, despite the heavy rain someone approached my car and installed it for me in just a minute. They were kind and gracious and helpful. I would absolutely recommend this place due to what a pleasant experience I had being taken care of by the employees who made it safe for me to drive in the rain again.

Came in wanting to replace 2 tires. They kept the car overnight, left a light on draining my battery, had to wait for them to recharge it, found out they replaced the wrong tire, called asking for the manager twice with no luck, finally got him on the phone and he was useless, came in later and they all told me how it wasn’t their faults, then they tried to tell me that the tire I wanted replaced wasn’t the worst tire, (it had a 3” bubble which I showed the manager), they finally agreed to replace it after the mechanic came back from lunch, then they parked my car behind some bushes so I couldn’t find it easily. Customer service is a joke here. No one is ever at the counter and management is obviously uncaring. I never complained once when it took longer than it should have to do simple tasks here but this time was a 3 day nightmare.

Terrible service!!!!! How can you not know how to run a repair shop? Set appointment for 2:30, drop car off, 3:15 comes and I get “sorry we can’t get to you today”, you didn’t know that at 2:30?! Bunch of novices! You should be embarrassed! Never will set foot in that store again!

I scheduled an appointment to have tires mounted and balanced on my car. Got there only to find that they never actually scheduled my appointment, they still got me in but annoying none the less.They never called me to tell me my car was done, so I called 3 times and never got an answer. I ended up just going there to find out my car was done.I got my car back and upon inspection found that both rims had been severely damaged around the outter edge during the process. I took it back and showed the manager. To their credit they owned up to it right away and said theyd take care of it. Im being told hes looking for a place to resurface my rims and fix the problem but thatll still be at least a day with no car and a lot of hassle. Depending on how professionally this gets sorted out will further impact my view of this shop, but I still can not recommend this work.

SPARE YOURSELF AND DO NOT GO HERE!!After waiting 3 hours for getting tires balanced WITH AN APPOINTMENT, they managed to bend a metal protection plate behind brake rotor when remounting tire. SERVICE MANAGER WAS LAUGHING AS IF THIS SAFETY ISSUE WAS FUNNY! This place is dangerous and wreck-less!

Needs to be shut down for scamming. I went to this place for one thing and they keep pressuring me to spend more money for something else. They told me someone wasn’t good with my tires and that my tires will eventually explode while driving and I took my car to a two different affordable local tire shops and they said nothing was wrong and my tires look good as new.

Dont bother with this location. The first time I went here due to my car having issues with the shifting in gears (transmission) I was charged for diagnostic and was told nothing was wrong, but also told to return if it happens again. See I was misinformed, they had said I would receive a refund for the diagnostic (and they will go through my car coverage) but was told complete lies! Made a reservation to return for the same problem, I rushed over there to get turned away. Guy at the time feeding me BS! saying At the moment I have no one who can look at your car Terrible service!

Scammers!!! I’ve had the unfortunate event of having a nail in my tires a few times the past year and each time I magically need a new tire. I was finally fed up this time and went for a second opinion at another tire shop. They fixed it for $12. These people don’t know what they are talking about.

Terrible service. I asked the gentleman for help finding light bulbs for my brake lights and head lights he pointed to aisle 8 which is 7ft from the register. I found one light bulb but couldnt find the other so I asked him again about the other he said bottom shelf. Mind you he was standing there doing nothing at the time while the next cashier had 3 people on his line. I had to ask whats so hard about walking his self to the aisle and pointing it out in front of his coworkers for him to move to help me. I use pep boy every month but this was my first and last time using the one in Patchogue NY if I can help it.

I don’t understand why would you have a system to schedule an appointment and it not be honored. Second when I came in to the store I did not expect to pay for a tire rotation when on your website it ads it’s free. But be up charged to a tire balancing. Even still with that did not expect to be over charge. If the prices on the website are not correct then they need to be fix. I shouldn’t have to wait and find out at the store that the information on the website was wrong. Third would never think that you would have people who don’t care or want to be at work at the counter. My first time here and my very last time.

Ordered tires online for mounting at the location. Got to location and they had no record of the online purchase and online reservation that I had made. Even with the receipt I received from my online purchase they were still dumbfounded. Took way to long to get to the bottom of it and to get the same price that I was given online.

I set an appointment last Saturday for 8 am tomorrow to get new tires. I received a call at 8:20 tonight advising a Mechanic was out. They would have to work something out for me.I called back and mentioned my 8 am appointment. While unfortunate, the call out shouldnt affect me. Right?Wrong! 4 other customers had an appointment for the same time. They MIGHT be done by 1 pm. I stayed calm, told him to cancel it and hung up.When I set an appointment, Im not expecting to be penciling in with that many other people as well.I had no intention of waiting at home for the repairs to be made. I needed to be done before 11. Even without the call out, 11 am wouldnt have happened. Obviously my business isnt valued.To be called at the last minute tells me Management has no control over staffing.Ill certainly be taking my business - and hard earned money - elsewhere.

Customer service is atrocious, wait times are never remotely close to what they say, and a few of the sales reps will obnoxiously take advantage of women in particular. I take my business to local privately owned shops now.

I went on 12/21 to get 4 new tires. I really wanted to have a good experience because the gentleman that checked me in for my 3pm appointment was really nice. Unfortunately, I can’t remember his name. I called around 6pm to see if my car was done and I was told it was being worked on and I would get a call soon. By 7pm I still had not received a call so I went down. The person working the tire counter was RUDE. He had a tag on that said Ken, but I’m unsure if that was actually his name as he never introduced himself. He told me my car was being worked on. I asked how much longer as I was told an hour earlier that my car was being worked on. He told me it takes 2 hours. That’s when I brought up that my appointment was at 3. In his exact words “yeah appointments don’t mean anything, they just check you in.” I waited another 45 minutes there until my car was ready. Ken told me my car was out front. I confirmed with him my car was out front. I walked out front and guess what, my car wasn’t there. I had to walk all the way around the back of the store to have another mechanic laugh at me. He said “oh I guess we forgot to tell him.” Great customer service to be openly mocked. To top it off, half way home my tire pressure light came on. You would think after getting 4 new tires they would ensure that the pressure was correct. Don’t waste your time. Read the reviews. Go elsewhere.

Brought my car in for an inspection. They said brakes wouldnt pass, and needed $400 front brake job. I declined and took it to a shop of a friend of the family a little further away. He confirmed my suspicion that brakes werent needed. Unfortunate....they are located close to my home, but they are obviously either dishonest or incompetent. Either way, I wont be back.

On Saturday 8/10/19 while driving back from Manhattan my alternator started to go as I was on the LIE. We drove directly to pep boys where my car died right in front. It was already 5:00pm, and while they were very busy they were able to help us and were just so helpful. They replaced my alternator, battery and a belt and were done by 6:30. I want to thank Steven and all the other guys. You were so friendly, helpful, and professional.

I came today with a CONFIRMED appointment for wheel alignment. Waited for 3 hours for an alignment and voila!! When I brought it was breaking to the right but when they return it to me it was now breaking to the left. I thought the bad reviews were just a bad seed. Dont want to go back here for re alignment. How can I get my money back? Wasted 3 hours of my time.

UPDATE: In response to comment below from Pep Boys, I did send an email with my experience to that email address. Days later, I received a call from senior management, a woman who basically said, Sorry about that have. Have a nice day. I certainly wouldnt say Pep Boys made it right.Had a 4pm appointment to get a tire patched. Waited in the waiting room for 2 hours before asking if my car was ready. It was and no one had told me. I left and when I got home immediately realized the tire that was patched was leaking air. You could hear it. I have no idea why the shop would give me back a car that was clearly still leaking air from a tire. I returned to the store and the front desk guy told me the nail had been in the sidewall. He said they don’t Patch those but the tech had insisted that he wanted to try. At 410 someone should have been in out in the lobby explaining the situation and my options. I may have purchased tires if needed at that point. Instead I wasted three hours of my time and took my car home. This morning I woke up and the tire is completely flat. Patching a tire that never should have been patched made things much worse as now I will need to get my car towed somewhere.

I have been to this Pep Boys at least 3 times. 1st was in need of a tire. Very helpful. Had to order it, can in time and was out the door in 45min. Next was an oil change appointment I made. On the way there I got pulled over and given a ticket for a blown brakelight. Pep Boys did the oil change and replaced my build. Only charged for the bulb. Next was for an engine check lite on. Such a simple fix and very cheap. Was a sensor. Out in less than an hour. I always make an appointment so this way I know I will get my car fixed. You come in and want service then. ... of course, but you will be at the back of the line. Simple

I feel I just got royally screwed by Pep Boys I bought a Champion battery from them a 124R 700 CCA (Cold Cranking Amp)paid $164.99 + tax, then by chance I went into Costco and saw an Interstate Battery 124R also 700 CCA for $97.99. Pep boys will not refund or price match even though I only made the purchase a few hours earlier today. Pep Boys you lost a customer, I used to go to your store for everything car related. No more. And I’ll make sure anyone else I know hears what just transpired. What kind of customer service do you offer? You just gave me the answer.

Been dealing with getting new tires on a car, everyone we’ve spoken to has been an absolute horrible human being, unbelievably rude. Disrespected the hell out of my partner and laughed in her face. Forget the wait from when I arrived to the time my vehicle went into the shop. You cant count that, but once it got into the shop to check the charging system and the battery. And replacing the battery and taking it out of the shop. More than 2.5 hours. Just a battery replacement was the final outcome.I think thats way too much time inside the shop. I dont know what they are doing over there. I dont think they know either. Sorry Pep Boys, your missing something!

The only reason I am giving this store 5 stars is because of the salesperson Jessie. He came to the stores rescue on Sunday 7/28/19. The service center did not have a service writer show up for their shift so there were about 10 people waiting on line for their 9am - 930am scheduled appointments & the manager called Jessie to come in to work. He literally saved the day for them because he walked in to irate customers because we were waiting over half on hour. He came in to a broken printer so he had to write up all the service people needed & he did that with an smile and a apology. He is a keeper for your store & he deserves some kind of recognition from his supervisor.

I called the night before bringing my car in for inspection and oil change. I was told I didnt need an appointment, just bring it in early. I dropped it off at 8:20 am. Was told it would be ready when I got off work at 12. It wasnt. They said I was next. It took 5 more hours for it to be done.I recommend making an appointment.

Greg was very helpful when i was trying to choose a set of 4 tires and listened closely to get the best choice for my specific criteria in my price range. And i got some hubcaps and they kindly attached those without an extra charge. I even walked in that friday morning and though it was already busy they got me on the road relatively quickly. He also looked and found a few other coupons to add on (15% off the hubcaps) without me even asking!

Had a 6pm appointment for an oil change. Got there 5:50 but waited on line til 6:15 just to hand in my keys, where they told me that even though I have an appointment it will be over two hours wait. I asked when is a good time to make an appointment that they will be able to keep. He said NEVER it’s always like this. LOL. I told him ok fine but I need my car back by tonight so you’ll call me when it’s done? He said of course and even offered to give me a discount later on when I picked it up which I thought was nice. He then told me that they didn’t have the right filter for my car but could use a premium one which costs $20 more. It’s annoying but not the end of the world and I really needed the oil change so I told him fine use that one. But they should’ve called me when I made the appointment to tell me they don’t have the filter. So I left my car there and had someone pick me up. At 8:45pm I still hadn’t been contacted and I knew they closed at 9 so I went over there to see what was up. My car was in the same spot hadn’t even been touched and they weren’t even going to tell me when I told them very clearly i could not leave my car there over night. Solid waste of time now have to find somewhere else to try tomorrow. Only gave 2 stars instead of one because the original guy at the counter was nice enough to have offered a discount.. just too bad the work was never done and I couldn’t use the discount!

I used to go to a local mechanic who pulled a fast one on me with my brakes. He told me he had installed new brakes, yet they made awful loud noises. I took this car to a Pep Boys one night on a whim and they showed me that the brakes were rusty and corroded. They had a fan ever since. I moved to Holbrook about 4 years ago and went to this Pep Boys.I use them for most of my car services: inspections, tires, oil changes, brakes and a few other problems.Are they the fastest place to get your car serviced? Probably not, but I grew up going to my parents mechanic who when you leave your car there, it is there for the ENTIRE day(8 hours) just for an oil change. Pep Boys can get you in and out if theyre not busy in about 45 minutes.They have a club which you can join that gives you a bunch of benefits including a free brake inspection which has been invaluable to me. If you get a flat tire and go to your Pep Boys when you are in their club, you will get a free patch (yes, FREE).Im very loyal to this store and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants some car service.If you have a problem with the work done, there are managers and a corporate number you can call to get the desired results. If you have a problem with a local mechanic and want some accountability....youre out of luck.

Every time I come the estimated time is always wrong, waited over 2.5 hours for a job that takes 1 and on the bill it came out to 1.10 hours I had an appointment. Needless to say the job was messed up back with in 2 days same complain and its been over another 1.5 hours for a job that takes less then an hour. The messes up my car last time just doing an oil change costing me over 1600 I do not recommend this site to anyone

A terrible experience with Pep Boys, Sunrise Hwy, Patchogue location. My car was towed to Pep Boys for a simple top radiator hose to be reconnected. Gregory, the service manager said he would check the hose and the compression and would call me with an estimate. After not hearing from him after a few hours, I called at least 3 or 4 times before he got on the phone. My car wasnt ready until 24 hours later. He never gave me an estimate and when I went there to pay he told me the price, which was $355. I never expected to be charged that amount for this small job and especially was upset for not getting an estimate before they started the work. I will never go there again or refer anyone.

These guys are great. Its no good waiting there, as with all mechanics if youre getting something repaired youre best dropping the car off, but thats not a problem. Theyre friendly and professional and the mechanics are skilled at least for the usual mishaps like brakes and starter motors and that sort of thing. I would go somewhere else for a longer, more involved job, but otherwise I recommend these guys!

One screwdriver, two zip ties and the right YouTube video later and I had cold air in my car. It was the temperature control switch, not the compressor. Ill still shop there for parts but Im never using their mechanics again.

Bad service i went for alignment and mechanic said i need a kit for alignment they charge me an $ 100 dollar extra for a screw which was part of the alignment then i ordered four tires for my honda civic and i waited 2 weeks and then after two weeks they didnt called me back then i went there personal and they told me that didnt have my tires but they didnt give me a called me back at all but i talk to the indian guy i told him i was a new customer and they choose to give a call back for my tires and then he told me to take my business somewhere else and i told him i will never bring my car back at all and i wouldnt recommend this to nobody else bad service and im still waiting till this day.

I had an 11am appointment on Sunday to fix a flat tire. Arrived early only to be told I would have a two to three hour wait. Told to come back the following morning. No thanks.That ends Petco. I went to a garage where it was repaired right away. 1 star because Thier is no zero star.

I like Pep Boys because you know that when you take your car there, the repair will be done properly. However, since you pay a flat rate (as opposed to labor hours), the repair is not always done as quickly as you would like. The retail portion of the store has everything you need although not always at the best price.

I bought two new tire and also i need alignment. I wait more than two hours for just the tires. i cancelled to do alignment because its took forever. its cheaper but not worth it. It was a first and last time. Good luck. Pay little more and save hours.

Train wreck.2 1/2 hrs for an oil change is unacceptable. The kid forgot to put the oil filter in and caused a disaster in the undercarriage of my Jeep. Total incompetence at the management level. Wasted my whole afternoon with my car in the lift for a job that should’ve taken 15 min.

Had a scheuled oil change today at Pep Boys.First had to wait almost 10 min in line while the single person at the service desk took care of one single couple ahead of me in line.Then the appointment I had booked online didnt show the special I signed up for, and the guy behind the counter argued with me over the price, and even pulled out his phone and told me to show him where on their website I saw the price (BTW, mobile version of the website doesnt work the same or have the same options as the desktop version). I tell him multiple times it was $19.99 and finally that I had the paperwork printed up and couple bring it back into him. He finally said he would let it slide this time, but next time bring in the paperwork - because apparently his system doesnt track specials that are stated as part of the appointment booking process.Then I go and wait. After waiting for over and hour and twenty minutes, I looked out back, and my van still hadnt been moved. I asked for my keys back and left.Absolutely abyssmal customer service, lack of staff, lack of concern for customer, lack of communication between appointment and service appointment. Never once did the guy say things were running behind, or that there might be a delay, or that he could try to reschedule me when I asked for the keys back.
