We were really happy we decided to come here for lunch. There was a wait, but they text you when your table is ready so you can wander away if you like. We ran through the market on Palafox to burn time.I ordered the Polonza burger medium and it was cooked perfectly. Nice char from the grill with sizable serving of pimento cheese. The cheese that oozed out the burger was great with the fries. Best burger I’ve had in awhile.Wife ordered the brisket biscuit benedict and was very happy with brisket, large slices of brisket that were juicy and not fatty. BBQ sauce was tangy and not too sweet. Biscuits were fluffy but did not fall just fall apart. Eggs were cooked nicely with runny yokes Both dishes were really well created. We will return.
This corner restaurant serves some of the best breakfasts around!! The helpings are good portioned. Great parking area also. Keep in mind the breakfasts up to Friday are priced different than Saturday and Sunday. Saturdays and Sundays are considered brunch so the prices are slightly more. There is indoor and outdoor seating available also. Highly recommend the original breakfast and the Florida pancakes which have a hint of orange flavor.
This was our first time at Polonzo Bistro, and, while I intended to have a omelette, I ended up getting the Braised Pork breakfast burrito. I asked for fresh jalapeño instead of the poblano, because I wanted more spice. Our waiter, Joseph, was very accommodating and truly made us feel like he wanted us to be happy, so communicated with us a lot.My wife had the Traditional breakfast, with sourdough toast. It seems that the further away from San Francisco, the more varied sourdough becomes, and this was on the sweet side - not sure why? Not unpleasant, but not traditional. She likes food more salty than I do, but felt the potatoes were too salty (I had potatoes in the burrito, and they werent salty, so it may have been added after, in the kitchen). The coffee was fresh and flavorful, and my wifes jasmine/peach tea was incredibly aromatic, and brewed fresh as well.Overall, a little pricey for what you get, but I would come back when I want to splurge. It was a cool September day, and we sat outside, which made it spectacular! Joseph, our waiter, even commented how much he enjoyed serving tables outside in this weather. No doubt!Recommendation: definitely visit, but expect to spend $18-$20 per person for breakfast.Negative: they took out the poblano pepper in my burrito in exchange for the jalapeño, but charged me extra. Next time Ill make sure they leave the poblano. Thats just ridiculous.Positive: Joseph made our visit very pleasant. Good on him, considering we now live in a time of bad service from people in the service industry.UPDATE: Since we enjoyed our first visit, we decided to come back for lunch on Sunday. The place was hopping, but it wait for an outside take was only ten minutes. Not bad.Amanda was our waitress this time, and she was very good as well. Sure was comfortable with us, and with the menu. She has quite a few tables, but didnt make us feel like she was stressing out, which is important. It kept us comfortable.I had the Fried Green Tomato Club with sweet potato fries. It was good, and Id probably order it again. Being a sandwich, not much more to say.My wife had the Salmon/Beet salad, and she loved every but of it! Cooked properly, seasoned well and flavorful. My female friend had the Ancho Chile and pork omelette, with country potatoes, and she said it was, out of this world! Wow!Her husband had the Steak and Eggs, which was a prime rib, and over medium eggs and a biscuit. He didnt like it. The cut it meat was gristly, and Amanda happily exchanged it. The second one was better, but he still felt they need to select their cuts better, especially for the price.Overall, Im keeping my rating, and recommend both the restaurant and Joseph and Amanda as servers.
If I were making a pros and cons list, this place only had pros. The food and coffee were delicious! The people working were kind. Especially Kayla! She was very friendly, efficient, and went above and beyond. The portion sizes are generous and the prices are reasonable. The bacon and jam sandwich was soooo good! Definitely looking forward to coming back!
Really good food. Steak breakfast is fantastic. Salads are really good too! Corned beef sandwich is a no go....good service. Recommend 😉
This is a great place for weekend drinks, business lunches, or for book club meetings. The menus and deals change depending on which day you go, but tea and drink prices are great! If you’re looking for great fries to split and a burger, this is a great place! My favorite drink to get here are the London fogs. The burger and blue cheese burger were huge portions and delicious! Each burger was about $10 each. Fairly cheap for the quality you are getting.
Best omelette Ive ever tasted. It was the Pecan Pesto omelette and the chef made it for me with egg whites. Side salad of arugula, pecans, and tomato and sweet onions was a bonus and fabulous. Outside table was quiet, shaded and lovely. Simply a delightful breakfast.
The coffee here is outstanding and so is the food. Not a bad dish on the menu except for my empty plate at the end. The new Chef Ed really brought the menu up a few notches, so good!
Probably one of my favorite locations in all of Pensacola, phenomenal staff and great food very pet friendly outdoor seating environment.
Great menu selection! Food and service was great! Very family friendly and enjoy the indoor and outdoor seating
Amazing place to eat! The ranch dressing is probably the best I’ve ever tasted! I ordered F.G.T. Club sandwich - amazing!! Bring your appetite! Friendly staff ❤️
Brunswick stew was superb! Burger was one of the best ever! Fried green tomatoes and caprese excellent also
Decent little coffee bar. It has a quiet and cozy ambiance. Had good biscuits and gravy. The coffee was good and dark. The customer service was good and Jordan was kind. They are also hiring!
Absolutely the best food and service in the area. We stayed in the hotel down the street (Sole) and the waitresses were always willing to speak with us about local attractions. Great service and food; cant wait to return to Pensacola just to eat here again.
Food was great. I had the chicken salad wrap at lunch. We did have an extremely long wait for the food though. Maybe next it will be better.
Ive really come to love this Hidden Gem nestled in downtown Pensacola just off of Palafox. They have the most absolute best breakfast. If youre hungry but you dont know what you want? I absolutely recommend the sausage and gravy. I made some pretty good sausage and gravy, but Im going to tell you this is got to be the best Ive ever had. Ive been told by staff that it is made to order. They have a nice little bar with a great coffee station where they can make lattes expressos and whatnot. I could give this place six stars I would. 10 out of 10. Looking forward to going again been there twice already
The service of the place was astonishingly wonderful. Our server, Savannah, was extremely sweet and attentive with our orders. Moreover, the quality of the food was top tier and the flavors exploded in your mouth making it a carnival of color and textures. This restaurant is well-deserving of their five stars.
Food is always good. I had the new Brunswick stew. The best I have ever had.
The service was a little slow, but other than that the food was good
My friend and I came in just before breakfast time was over but the hostess and waitress were ready to accommodate us. I had the patatas bravas and my friend ordered the toad in hole. My dish was the perfect amount of savory, slightly spicy, and tangy without being too heavy for breakfast/early lunch. I also had the iced honey latte, which was very yummy and refreshing. Everything was immaculate and signs are posted everywhere to wear a mask if you’re not seated at your table. Doing our part!
Best place downtown Pensacola for brunch. I end up here almost every Saturday morning, even if I plan to try somewhere new. The outside seating is really nice and in a beautiful part of downtown. Their coffee is really good - try the honey latte (hot or iced) made with local honey! The food is always amazing, no matter what you order. The servers are very polite and accommodating and quick! Great place!
Really really good food. Most everything is good here.
I went for lunch with friends. The food was very dry. It was just dry piece of toast with fried egg and some lettuce on top of the bread. It did not have any taste. Coffee was stale and cold. It tasted the same even after the server brought freshly brewed(hmm?). Mimosas were cold. Cook at home as you will save money and make better food. The lunch costs us over here $100.00. Disappointing. Visitor to the area
Service was Amazing! The food was top notch!
Used to be great.A part of me always feel bad about writing a negative review especially when anytime in the past I would have given Polonza high praise, but when I compare my previous lunch visit to the one I had today, I feel I should say something. Id like to chalk it up to Theyre having an off-day, but I feel this is not the case.I ordered the same thing today as I had on my last visit. Something I wouldnt normally order, but took a chance and I was blown away by how great the meal tasted. I should mention that there is about a 4+ month gap between the two visits. The food took about 1 hour to get to the table. Again, Maybe theyre having a off-day? or Maybe some of the cooks walked out today?, but when the food arrived, it was completely different. Different like it was a business decision rather an off day. The portions were much small and meat smell was off. The food? Chicken tenders. Simple tenders. Honestly, if someone brought me the same food and asked me to guess where it came from? I would have said leftovers from Zaxbys at best.To sum it all up, I paid $15 for 4 pieces of shriveled up chicken tenders that sucked and took about hour to make it to the table which made me late getting back to work, so Im writing this dumb review.** The 2nd star is to the memory for what Polonza used to be.
I dont really care for bread but their buns for the burgers are sooo good! Great food! Cute trendy restaurant!
Ordered the Cervantes Fritata but got the Garden Fritata, and I hate mushrooms. We were seated right away (12:30ish) but it took close to an hour to get our food. Waitress was very nice, but only came by our table once after we were served, even though they werent busy by then. The 4 of us were waving our arms trying to get her attention so that we could pay and leave. Our friends loved their gumbo and Brunswick stew.
No to go orders during a pandemic. Odd decision
So, I normally don’t leave bad reviews but in this instance I feel it’s warranted. So 2 weeks ago my fiancé and I came here for brunch with a friend and it was amazing, server was great, the food was incredible. Today, however, we did not have the same experience. It was quite busy so I’m aware that was a factor in our experience today, we waited about 30 minutes to sit down, typical for a Saturday downtown. We ordered the Steak Frites which is advertised as an 8oz cut of Picanha severed with a compound butter and fries for about $20 dollars. This was the same meal I tried the first time we came. Again, we waited nearly 25 minutes for the food to come, which we understood, since it seemed they were under staffed like many other restaurants in the area. (I also wanted to note that our server was very polite and really worked to provide the perfect experience given the circumstances). Once we get our meal we realize, 1. the meat was a bit overcooked, we had asked for medium rare and the steak was medium 2. The steak was not Picanha! Which we confirmed unfortunately after we had eaten it and found that it also did not taste correctly. In our haste, after driving about an hour to have lunch from Navarre, and waiting almost another hour to eat (and share the plate), we ate all of the steak while contemplating saying something about it because we typically are not those kind of people. We talked to our server who was very accommodating, and we mentioned that we knew it was not his fault but that we were wondering if the cut of meat was supposed to be Picanha. He returned to let us know that they had switched it out for ribeye steak, which in our eyes, an 8oz. Ribeye and fries was not worth 20$.We weren’t looking for a refund as we did eat the entire meal, but still wanted to talk to the manager about the mix up since we had come specifically for Picanha. The manager sent our server back saying that since we ate it he would not do anything, without even coming to speak to us about it.Because of this experience, we will not be back to Polonza, nor will we recommend it.Just beware of busy days because it seems they will not tolerate any backlash to them changing advertised items without notice.
The hummus aas excellent. If you never tried it you most definitely should. If you ever tried hummus and it was horrible think again. This hummus was fantastic and Ive never liked the stuff.
Wow.. great food, great atmosphere, very good service (even when crazy busy). Veggie frittata and ham & swiss cheese frittatas were awesome as well as the cheese grits. Coffee stayed refilled however, never came to the table hot..... Have to make it back to try the toad in the road?
Great atmosphere inside, but a little loud for us this morning so we sat outside and enjoyed our meals! Delicious food and friendly service. Definitely will be back!
We went here for brunch, wasnt too terribly busy, we were seated within 2 min walking through the door. They have a good selection of teas. The food came out promptly and was portioned well, you definitely get your moneys worth. The service was spot on. The waitress was attentive and refilled our drinks without any of our input. Id definitely recommend this place for brunch. Next time we will have to try them for lunch.
Restaurant is clean and everyone is friendly. The food is good, but no real WOW factor. Food seems on the pricier side considering this.
I’ve gone here twice and both times their was a waitress that was beyond rude to both us and her co workers. A dark headed girl with glasses. She almost hit one lady in the head just walking around yesterday. She has zero customer service and I’m sure her co workers would lend a hand but I know that if someone I worked with acted that way I wouldn’t lend a hand either. I’m not sure why management is just allowing this to continue. Don’t know her name I’m positive it started with a K though. As long as she’s their good luck keeping staff and customers!!! Let us know when she leaves and my family and I will come back until then I apologize to the staff and that rude ladies customers because she obviously doesn’t think she is doing anything wrong or rude! Management needs to do it’s job and get her in check!!!!
Love the food and they have outside dining and are pet friendly
Their breakfast is good. The coffee is even better. The service is fantastic. The prices are a little high but hey, its downtown.
I was not impressed. Its too expensive for the quality of food. I got Caesar dressing for my salad that looked like a mixer of dark water. My water had some tiny plastic pieces in it. My hot tea looked like the tea bag busted in it. I was very disappointed since the restaurant has such a high rating. The staff was friendly and fast, which is the only reason for the 2 star.
Always amazing. Tables, coffee bar and permanent outside comfortable curbside dining! Food is always great as is customer service. I drove about 15 miles this morning to have breakfast sooo... Thanks!!
Great breakfast! I had a Toad in a Hole along with a very solid and bottomless cup of coffee. This place has a great ambiance and feels like a spot you can come for a lunch with friends or to just get away by yourself to get some work done. Service was a tad slow, but it wasn’t anything that made a difference. Actually, it was nice not to feel rushed or like I had to make decisions super fast. For those who head over later in the day, they have Elysian Space Dust on tap. That is reason enough to go there!
Pancakes were great, other food was heavy on the seasoning.
BLUF: Great chicken and waffles, strange honey latte.Ate brunch here in a Saturday. Nice that its right next to the farmers market. Outdoor seating is available. Wait staff is very nice. Honey latte tasted and smelled like it was alcoholic. Very strange, unusual flavor. Asked about it but they said it wasnt. Waffles were mind blowing. Very good food. Chill environment, much less formal feel than another broken egg, and cozier than Ruby Slipper.8/10 would recommend for brunch.
This bistro is always a nice treat when we visit Pensacola. Very quaint with good food and great coffee!
Amazing food with a great price. I always look forward to go to Polonza when Im in Pensacola.
Went back today for breakfast with my brother. Got the chicken and waffles! It was about $15 and worth it. Two big Belgium waffle with little bits of pecan. I chose the bone in chicken. You have the option to get tenders but bone in is the way to go. It had a nice crunch with a bit salty flavor that mixed well with the syrup waffle. Would definitely recommend too give it a try.
After visiting the Saturday Market for the first time in months (because of the pandemic) I found this little spot for breakfast. It was very full but they found a spot for me in their outside sitting area. I found it very pleasant. The menu is modest but seems high quality. I got the toad in the whole. A weird but tasty exploration of a menu item Id never heard of. The wait staff was really on the ball. They came by to fill coffee frequently and checked on me and other diners. They managed to be in a hurry and yet cordial. Ill be back.
Come and experience what the south has to offer. Excellent hospitality, excellent food and a warm embracing experience.
Love this place the cheese grits were awsome the people were so nice and friendly
Coffee was cold and soso flavor. Breakfast was pretty good. A little pricey for $$.
Went there for the 1st time today and everything was horrible! The service was a nightmare, coffee tasted terrible, & the food wasnt good either!
Delicious! Every menu item Ive tried is top notch.
Great breakfast, not very crowded and food was good. Service a little off, but think they were understaffed
Very solid food, staff was tad inattentive, maybe because I was lunching alone but otherwise worth the visit for sure.
Brunch frittatas are off the chain! The atmosphere is so Nola. Waitstaff is great. We tried it on a whim during farmers market and well be going here for brunch and then maybe farmers market afterwards.
Great place to eat. Always a good meal and friendly staff. Theyve got fancy coffee if thats your thing. Chicken and waffles good. Must try. Inside and outside seating. They wear masks.
Waitress was awesome,we sat outside, big mistake, flys. Ordered two steak and eggs... Twenty plus for four three inch long pre-cut slices of stk....weird..... and tuff.Toast was cold, and un buttered. But the waitress..she did a great job!
I have been coming to this establishment nearly every week for the last 2 years or so. The coffee is always excellent. The food is good. The employees are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. This is a great place for meetings, studying, or anything else one would do at a coffee shop.It may not be in the best location, in my opinion, but being out of the way causes people to think they have found a gem. Which, yes. They did. The food is slightly expensive, but still not bad. I DO wish they had breakfast past 10:30am. But, I make do.
Good service. Nice atmosphere. Decent food.
The service was wonderful and our food was absolutely delicious. We tried the fried green tomatoes and portobello sandwich for lunch with the side of their mac and cheese- It was to die for! everything was very good & seasoned well, and of course their coffee is the best! We also didnt feel pressured to hurry our visit up even though they were changing shifts when we arrived and we were slow to order and lingered to chat after lunch. Never had a bad experience at this restaurant and parking is super easy.
Relaxed atmosphere, good food, good service, within walking distance of our weekly Saturday Palafox Market.
Phenomenal service, food, and atmosphere! The current pandemic has my family wary of eating out but while visiting Pensacola, we stopped in for lunch and it was amazing. All the staff were masked up and everything was clean- wonderful to see in Florida. Our server, Lacy, was so helpful and kind and enthusiastic about the city- truly a wonderful person working at a wonderful restaurant. Can’t wait to come back again! All our love from Texas.
Great local food with an authentic feel, greatly enjoyed my first visit here. The food was phenomenal, the staff was very personable, and the restaurant was well maintained inside and out. Prices are reasonable, especially for location.
Quite possibly the worst eggs I have ever had. No joke. Two regular eggs for breakfast. How hard can that be? Unfortunately I was with business clients so I couldnt send them back, or complain. Ugh.
Found it while out running - more of a neighborhood vibe, if you will. Lori (Laurie?) behind the bar was helpful and efficient. We enjoyed brunch (very much)with a couple mimosas. Most breads (maybe all) are homemade. We had their take on Toad in the Hole and a veggie fritatta - very good. The rest of the menu looked solid and this is certainly a place well visit again.
Great service but noisy for a meeting spot.
Ive never had a bad experience at Polonza. I typically get the blue cheese burger and it never disappoints. Great service and delicious food. Ill be back!
Excellent Place for Brunch. Lacy went above and beyond. Burger was cooked perfect and the iced tea super fresh tasting.
The food was very nice however the service is pretty terrible. It took longer for us to get our credit cards back than it did for the meal and the meal took a good while. Apparently our waitress was walking around with our cards in her pocket serving other people.
Bistro with an excellent cappuccino as well as teas. Courteous, caring staff. Warm atmosphere. Will return.
Excellent food and service! Highly recommended the avocado toast for breakfast!
Disappointed that they stopped serving brunch at 3. Tried their happy hour food and left with food poisoning. On the bright side though. the beers were good.
FRIENDLY! Very spacious and so cute. Husband loved his Conquistador and I loved my Toad in a Hole. The Chai was good, a little too much cinnamon from what I normal make but it was still great. Its a quiet, nice atmosphere right on the corner. We enjoyed it.
They told me I had to have a reservation to sit outside then I called to try to make one for later they tell me I would need a reservation to sit outside.... confusing....Sure it was explained. When I called and wanted to make a reservation I was told I did not need one.🙈
Food is good but not really affordable if youre on a budget $15-20 for a burger is kinda expensive
Nice place to have a meal and beer
Got the chicken and waffles...not bad but not great. Coffee was lukewarm and when we asked for more it took a half hour to brew a new pot. Staff was friendly and attentive. Seated right away. Just not really impressed. 😞
Good food good atmosphere prices are just a bit high for what you get $16 steak salad is good but very expensive!
