First time peoria zoo visitors here! Absolutely loved it. Not too pricey for entrance tickets. lots of animals. The gift shop was super cute. We wanted to see meerkats but sadly they werent on exhibit; maybe next time! The australian walk about was super cool; got to see wallabys up close (dont touch though). Was sort of hard to get into but they have to do it for safety of animals and guests. Very clean zoo, lots of hand sanitizer, and restrooms were clean!! Easy access to pretty much everything. The staff was VERY friendly!! Will definitely come back!
Going and experiencing Peoria Glen Oak Zoo was fun every time. Halloween event was FUN! I liked it. First time going to the Halloween event. I really did like it like a little does. Dam it was fun! Almost choked on Halloween 🍬 it was FUN!🤣 I think I said enough.
We love our zoo!My kids are 3 and 4, and we have so much fun when we go.Not everything is open yet this year and we still spent an hour and half looking at the different animals.(4/21)I would recommend the family pass if you live close by.It can be crowded at times, but with the pass we have been really lucky to feel like we had the exhibits to ourselves for a nice amount of time if you go at slow parts of the day.So happy to have a zoo like this close by!
I usually take my daycare kids to the Peoria Zoo on donation day and my littles really love going! Definitely wish that they had more animals but we do like the giraffe exhibit a lot! Unfortunately today there were a few animals that we didnt get to see and we also couldnt do the African exhibit where the ostriches are. We did see them through the gate though. I think every time I go to the zoo that area is closed off. It was definitely a warm day today so there wasnt many people at the zoo we sat down in the air-conditioned Cafe to have a popcorn snack and the workers they were very accommodating with me and all my littles. There are two areas in the zoo where you need to wear your masks and theyre also limiting the amount of people that are able to come in. Like I said though it wasnt very crowded when we went so it was fine.
A zoo far larger and better cared for than you would think a city of Peoria’s size would have. Beautiful grounds, lots of animals, and right across from the Peoria PlayHouse Children’s Museum. Lots of people come and enjoy both destinations and make a day of it!
Parking is not the greatest. The zoo itself has a great layout. Nice facility, and clean zoo. The exhibits are large, but its also easy to see animals from multiple spots. The employees were friendly and helpful. Only downside is that they still require masks in certain areas. My family and I had just been to the Nashville, TN zoo, and were in proximity to similar animals (in Nashville you can pet kangaroos) and in enclosed spaces with no masks required, yet they still claim here (Peoria) that vaccinated or not, masks are necessary in certain spots. Thats certainly their prerogative, and theyll probably claim its about safety (whether thats valid or not), but just be aware of that and pick the destination you spend your money wisely. Gift shop was extensive and items were reasonably priced.
The only possible issue we saw, was something like a wildebeest not a wildebeest but something like it. It was from close to the Siberian mountains and had long hair. I could only imagine that they are used to cooler climate, they were panting in the hot sun. I wish they had a better cooling area to cool off. Other then that, the zoo was great.
This is a smaller zoo than Chicago but it was really nice. The Rhino looks to be in great shape and was running around. The giraffe pen was awesome. And the lion looked to be in peak shape. It’s not big and doesn’t take that long but I loved it.
Hallzooween was a ton of fun! The Littles enjoyed everything!
It is not a huge zoo but does have a good variety of animals. The giraffes were my favorite but i enjoyed all of them. its a great afternoon trip. the price was good as well.
Small, but really nice! So much shade and the animals all looked really happy. I was really impressed with how nice the pathways and general atmosphere was. The animals in the Australian enclosure just could not care less that we were in there. They were RIGHT next to us. I had to keep telling my son not to touch them they were so close to us. Really cute place, and I cant wait to go back when covid isnt as much of a threat. They had lots of precautions to keep the animals from getting sick
Easy to follow trails. My 4 yr. old granddaughter did just fine walking. We saw almost all the animals and you can get up close to some of them. We enjoyed feeding the budgies, too. We were there for 2 hours. They ask you to wear a mask in a few places. It cost $10.50 for an adult and $7.50 for my 4 yr. old.
Admission price reasonable. Not terribly busy or crowded, which was great. Loved the wooded walkways, shade, and variety of animals. Staff was nice. Family really enjoyed the experience.
For as small of a city Peoria is, it is nice to still have a city zoo. While some people complain and try to compare it to city zoos like St. Louis and Chicago, I have an enjoyable time each time we go on nice weather days. There are a variety of animals too see, the park is kept clean, and the renovation to the Africa exhibit is a great way to see the Giraffes up close. It is a great place to take the family, the kids, or a date! Enjoy the Glen Oak Park by taking a picnic while you are there.
It was amazing to see all of the animals, but it was depressing at the same time. Expecially seeing one of the monkeys locked in a room by himself, no noise, no interaction, he sat there on a branch against the wall and I swear he was crying. It was so depressing, it ruined the whole experience. We were not happy about this at all and it needs to be reported 😥
Great place! People were friendly and very helpful. Place was clean. It was easy to get around. The animals were very active! I have never seen animals so active. Very cool!
Absolutely lovely Zoo! We came for a short visit, but stayed the whole day! The staff is so fun and patient...Jordan and Phil were both so helpful and kind, they really helped to make our visit special. It was great to be around so many exotic animals and kind happy people! The wonderful food in the Very Clean and air conditioned restaurant was a Big plus to cool us down and fill us up mid day! Best day Ever! ☆☆☆☆☆ Thank you all!! ☆☆☆☆☆
Small zoo and can see animals closer. Compare to st louis zoo which is much bigger this is easy to cover in just 2 hours. Definitely kids enjoys this place. Lot of small reptiles to see
Nice clean little zoo. Admission price was also reasonable
A very well organized and run medium size zoo with lions, giraffes, monkeys, and good venues for events, such as weddings.
A great zoo, easy to visit, the tigger exhibit need more careful
They were working on the walkabout exhibit but everyone was friendly and the zoo was very clean. Always a fun day.
Best zoo Ive ever been to the walabees run free staff was exellent
Having visited both the Lincoln Park Zoo and St Louis Zoo this year, it was refreshing to be able to get so close to so many animals and not have to fight the crowds. We had a great time!
Awesome zoo alot for kids to see and the animals look healthy and well cared for ❤
Actually was not as busy as I would have thought for being Fathers Day. Always enjoy the trips we take throughout the year. Be certain to swing by Luthys while you are there. You will not be disappointed.
A great place to spend a half day. Picnic areas, and a small but wonderful zoo. The animals seem very happy and active. Great for families!
Nice place to bring a family. Pleasant staff and lots to see.
This is a very clean facility. Not too big but not too small. All staff were very friendly and helpful. This was my first trip and Ill definitely be going back many times.
Very cool! Went on a cool day so animals were active
It was fun but def. Not what it used to be!
I used to love this local zoo. That was until they got rid of the seals. So did Miller Park in Bloomington. That was a factor in my star deduction, its also not the most manual wheelchair user friendly, think steep long ramps and STEEP hills that can send you careening of the path into a rail or bush. Cool. The woman who kept the gift shop open for us while I made a decision on items, and helped tell us about item turnover, was wonderful!
It was nice there good and clean had fun well go back again
Nice little zoo, fairly priced 😁
Spent $32 for 2 adults 2 kids. When we went about maybe 10 animals were able to be seen along with maybe 6 reptile/amphibious tanks. Not much sadly. Looks like the zoo has seen better days.
We’re members and typically visit 1-5 times per month. Average visit is about 1 hour. The expanded Africa exhibit is awesome - the animals have better enclosures and you can get close enough to watch their interactions. They’re always making improvements as the budget allows.
Well kept clean n easy to walk around but seen that the wood bridge was getting bad in some areas and needs be replaced.Staff mainly the giraffe keeper n the staff in the gift shop were rude! The staff that did the monkey skull was awesome! Hated seeing animals be advertise but not in the zoo.Prices n value of the products being sold in the gift shop were ridiculously way over priced. The worst part of all is it had no handicap buggy to use (rent or barrow) yet you could of easily used one thru 95% of the zooI recommend to lower prices... Fire the rude staff.... Stop charging to feed giraffe n ask for donations instead... And add more options to the food court! Oh n get fresh chips for the nachos n use alot more cheese expecially when asked!
The Peoria Zoo is a nice attraction for the area. They have a nice selection of animals and play areas for kids. The Africa exhibit is the best part in property. They also have a nature walk with some animals walking around in it. Is it the best Zoo? No, but it’s really good for not having to drive a long distance.
Very fun for the whole family - close to Childrens Museum
Amazing place to visit & be active (lots of walking), if you have Miller Zoos pass, you get half off, great deal! Friendly staff at the gift shop offered to watch our wagon while we went out to wash our hands!!!
The Peoria Zoo has come a long, long way in the last few years. Animals look clean and healthy, enclosures are well maintained, and there is a renewed focus on teaching and learning.
A very pleasant experience. The weather was great. The kids really enjoyed it.
Dont really like the idea of animals being trapped in certain cages so the city can collect money. Everything is not meant to be profitable 🤷🏾♀️🚶🏾♀️
Great to see the zoo open.Masks are needed to protect the animals.
Nice afternoon and the kids got to feed the giraffes. Lifetime memories.
Nice. Clean. But small. Done in like an hour
We went on Labor day. The zoo had normal hours and normal prices. $40 for a family of 4. Im 34 and have been to this zoo more than 20 times in my life, but I havent been there in at least 5 years. I was so shocked how ran down it is. Tons of missing animals. The petting area had 3-4 goats and 2 donkeys. The sea lion exhibit gone. The bat tunnel completely empty. Even missing reptiles and scorpions. We spent 45 mins and the kids were bored. So sad to see what the Peoria zoo has become. Not worth the prices if you ask me. Spend the $40 in gas to go to a bigger better kept zoo
A good little zoo. I miss the seals, peacocks, otters and penguins. Africa and Australia exhibits were fun.
The zoo is nice. A lot of walking and a little expensive. Hate that the exit is through the gift shop
Small and expensive. Set up for covid-19 safety.
Decent, could be better however. Im thinking Pre and Post Covid here. The floor plan of this place doesnt allow for the best use of space for the animals. It also needs more Plants in the actual enclosures. The Great Hornbill could also be re-incorporated, considering it was once the Face of Peoria Zoo... Now she sits all alone in the very very far corner of the Zoo. Shes lonely. She an Old Lady and deserves to be treated with Respect and Admiration... Especially since the species is Endangered. I feel this Zoo Lacks the staff to care for the facilities. They need more Volunteers, Support and someone to come in and whip this place into ship shape.I am not degrading what the staff here does. Its just very evident that they are working too hard, with not enough resources.
The parking was my only concern, other than that my family and I had a wonderful and entertaining time at the zoo
Peoria zoo is always a nice time. its a very relaxing atmosphere.
A very up close experience with the animals and an amazing venue for a wedding! Loved it
Zoo was clean, animals looked healthy. Unfortunately, several exhibits - both outdoor and indoor - were closed, which put a damper on this outing. Id be willing to come back once the zoo is fully open, but wish that the closures had been better advertised as the long drive to get there wasnt quite worth it. The gift shop at the main entrance was open, but nothing throughout the zoo for refreshments or otherwise.
Nice small zoo. Easy to walk around with kids and see everything
I went on a trip with my family and everyone was very happy . I love it.
Animals very active and almost all exhibits open. Missed the meerkats and monkey in outside exhibit.
Great Zoo! The zoo was nice an clean, animals looked well cared for. Hubby an i went on a sunday morning after visiting the irish fest. It took about 1 1/2 hours to go thru, plus browsing in the gift shop. If the kids were with us prob add another 30 minutes. Several exhibits had keepers with the animals to answer questions. There are special events every month to check out. There is an Australian Walk About that was interesting.....Wallabys were roaming free as well as a couple Emus. We would visit again!
Spent the day with my son Brayden and fiance and it was nice to be welcomed back after several years. Staff was very nice and the prices seemed reasonable.
It used to be fun, they didnt have a lot of animals. Had to pay for my mask.
Great set up for covid times, but keep in mind all indoor areas, interactive areas etc. are closed. They have one shopping area set up outside. One-way lane through all the exhibits. Easy to social distance. One of the few family fun activities that there are no worries of safety! Giraffes, rhinos, zebras, baboon in Africa were all very active. As was the walk through with emus, cockatoo, and wallabys.
Enjoyed coming here ...gotta come back to visit
Nice zoo date. We came for a 5year olds birthday and it was perfect
Great Energy!!! From good people
Its was peaceful but scary. I could imagine some of the animals getting loose. Didnt get to see a lot but it was a great adventure
First time going to this zoo. First off i wanna say i understand the pandemic has altered the experience for zoo goers. With that being said this place is WAY over priced. We paid 39.00 for a 10 min walk around the park. Everything was shunt down due to saftey issues. They shouldnt make people pay those prices when the park isnt up and fully running. We left very disappointed. I will never return to this zoo.
Its close to home. Its a fairly nice zoo. I just wish it was bigger
Me and the family had a great time.. didnt expect to see a rhino lol she was pretty cool!
We love the Peoria Zoo.
A lot of the animals were off display for the winter, but they still charged full price. The zoo has giraffes, lions, tigers, monkeys and all sorts of things for kids to get hyped about.
Nice zoo. Everyone enjoyed themselves.
Great zoo, but was very upset the gift shop and the outdoor set up were closed. My daughters 6th birthday she wanted a souvenir.
Every time we come to this zoo, we run into Care staff that you can tell is really focused on giving the animals their best life. Always friend and willing to share information about the animals and conservation of their habitats.
Very nice visit ! Friendly staff ! Animals look healthy !
Although there wasnt many animals probably due to the pandemic its still a really cool and fun place and you can learn new things about animals you may or may not know about and this place in general is a fun place to spend time with your family.
Great place to take the young and old.
Always amazing!
