Seasonal Drinks are awesome, came by to visit some places to move and stopped by on recommendation and now Ill be the one recommending it to others!
Got the seasonal Lumberjack Latte and it was amazing! Definitely recommend stopping here.
Pros:Amazing staff, they’re so nice and welcomingLarge amount of options for drinksThe environment is so cozy and I found it a good place to studyVegan option!Cons:My friend ordered the vegan sandwich and they served her a regular meat and animal based sandwich, which she thankfully noticed before she ate it, but they quickly replaced it with the right sandwich that she said was very good.I ordered the avocado toast and really disliked it. I thought it tasted funny and looked a little weird and I realized I don’t think they use fresh avocado. I picked up a piece of the avocado and it wiggled like rubber, maybe frozen or something but it was really off putting.I also ordered the fall coffee flight, while the autumn sage and the pancake one were great the cold brew was not very good. I would say avoid that.I look forward to coming back and trying the cocktails for brunch one day and maybe trying a breakfast sandwich instead of the avocado toast.
Fantastic place! The special events are always a blast whenever I visit!
Great food and the waitress that served us was so nice. She was attentive and helpful. She helped me and my sister choose wonderful delicious dishes for dinner. We will visit this restaurant again when we venture into Ohio again.
Always delicious! Lately I have had the summer coffee specials and they have been amazing!!! Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.
We worked with The Flying Joe to cater a small business meeting in the Toledo area. Becky was responsive and helped advise on how much (pastries/coffee) to order. Also, their baked goods were fantastic and looked great. Will certainly use again. Thanks!
Wondering if joe can actually fly…….nonetheless, loved my time here at this establishment. will take great great gram next time. she is 128.
Great coffee, excellent vegan baked goods from local baker- Vegan Taste and a few other sandwich and breakfast options that include vegan choices. The staff has always been very pleasant every time. They have some outdoor seating, outside of the front and rear entrances.
One of my absolute favorite local places! The sandwiches are fantastic. The pretzel croissant is a must have. The avocado toast is the best I’ve ever had. I don’t think there’s one thing I don’t love on the menu. The employees are always quick to greet you when you walk in the door. Added bonus: They serve alcohol!
Fantastic coffee and atmosphere. Love the honey lavender coffee
Went there about two months ago. The coffee was good and the environment spacious. While there I did overhear employees talking about work conditions and will not be returning as a customer. Sad to hear a coffee shop that looks as good as this one doesnt pay their workers well and doesnt treat COVID as seriously as a food establishment should. Good coffee, but not worth it after this in my opinion.
Coffee was great, season latte flavors were a little try hard, but points for experimenting. I like the inside ambiance and if it were less out of the way, could see myself spending too much time here. Pastries were on point
Nice coffee shop / bar with coffees, mimosas and cocktails and pastries
Staff couldnt seem to stop talking to the regulars and address a new customer..... Ill just keep going to starbucks twice a day..... coffee was good tho
Cute shop and good food/drinks, but very disappointed to see they don’t enforce masks. I’m fully vaccinated, but I still recognize the importance of continuing to wear a mask. It’s very telling that others clearly don’t agree. Will not be returning
Great breakfast options and great coffee, cool to see all of the locally sourced and vegan options for those that partake!
My absolute favorite coffee shop. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, outstanding coffee and delicious treats. The gold standard for coffee and coffee shops.
Always enjoy The Flying Joe. The dark mocha was recommended to me, and I will recommend it to you!
Loved this place! They have gluten free pastries and the best lattes. Outside and inside seating.
It was my first time and they didnt really impressed me. I did go for a latte and everything bagel which taste horrible and like a rock, however the staff were friendly and cooperative. I tried their coffee right before I left and I didnt like it . The sofas were Nasty and the place is small and not clean .
Great Vegan options that are clearly marked!!!
They have their standard brew as well as seasonal offerings. Ordered the Fall Fiesta Mocha this morning. It is their standard mocha with cinnamon and a touch of cayenne pepper. Delicious! Also sampled their maple bourbon latte and was pleased with it as well. Vegan options available, if youre into that. And tons of swag to show off that you support small business
The Flying Joe offers incredible service in a comfortable atmosphere. The drinks are big city coffee shop quality by highly trained baristas. I love all of the gluten free and vegan options.
Driving through town looking for good coffee from a non-chain and we stumbled upon The Flying Joe... Delicious fall seasonal drinks (I had a maple pancake latte, my husband had a fall fiesta latte) and a breakfast sandwich which hit the spot. Though I understand that food service in the current pandemic is tricky to navigate, I appreciate The Flying Joes customer service and the attention they paid to us travelers who had no clue what was what on their menu. Be you local or traveler, The Flying Joe will scratch that caffeine/food itch!
Delicious Colombian coffee. No need to add a thing!
Always great coffee and made with care!
A coffee shop that houses some of the best local businesses as well as brews some great coffee. Locally roasted beans, locally baked goods and even a bar for those interested. Located in a beautiful section of Levis Commons and strong enough Wi-Fi to let you work for a spell while you enjoy your drink. Great breakfast food and snacks as well...hard to go wrong here.
Friendly, fast service and quality coffee.
Nice little comfortable coffee shop clean and friendly
The house coffee was excellent, as was the service!
I recently visited every coffee shop in the Greater Toledo Area as a part of the local Coffee Quest 419. I ordered the same drink. A large coffee with 2oz steamed heavy cream a a tablespoon of butter. Most Baristas at other shops just gave me a blank stare but the person here jumped right on it. The drink was delicious. The coffee they use was very bold but not bitter or sour. Just right. These guys know what they are doing. The decor in the place was very thought out. Hip vibe with a pilot theme but its not over the top. At first you dont realize that is what they are doing but the longer you are there it all flows together. Well done!Atmosphere A+Coffee A+Service A+
Polite staff, amazing operation under COVID regulations, and great drinks!
Friendly staff but the aesthetic is cold and dark.
My pour over was truly divine! The guatemalan was an excellent roast. The place was clean as well. Given the quarantine restrictions sucking the life out of commerce, it was refreshing to stop by and enjoy some excellent Java from a local place!
Amazing food, and good social distancing practices.
Stopped here on a trip from Cleveland to Ann Arbor and couldn’t be happier with the experience. The bar manager Frankie had great taste and got us exactly what we were looking for. We will be back to Flying Joe!
Best iced vanilla latte around. Better than any coffee shop Ive been to even in NYC or Seattle. Staff here are all very welcoming. Also, note to owners, thank you for your service to our country in the United States Air Force.
I like giving local businesses a try and would have rated this place higher if the coffee was palatable or hotter than bathwater. My drink looked beautiful and the service was fine. Go to Starbucks its right there.
Absolutely incredible!!! We stopped overnight on a road trip to Detroit, and walked over in the morning from our hotel.I couldn’t make my mind up, so my mom and I split 4 lattes, the pesto toast, and the pretzel croissant. The coffees were all excellent! We tried the pumpkin brûlée, fall fiesta, chocwork orange, and berry caramel. Out of the four, we couldn’t pick a favorite! Each one was perfectly balanced, not too sweet or too bitter, with just the right amount of flavor to enhance the espresso without overpowering our tastebuds. For the seasonal drinks, I would compare the fall fiesta to a Mexican hot cocoa. The pumpkin brûlée reminded us of gingerbread cookies with a hint of pumpkin spice. The classic menu drinks, I’m not quite sure how to put into words besides amazing and definitely try them! The pesto toast had incredibly flavorful and fresh pesto, perfect slices of hard boiled eggs, and hearty multigrain toast. The pretzel croissant was divine and crowned beautifully with their housemade blueberry ginger jam.Overall everything we tried had the perfect balance of flavors and was incredibly well thought out. Staff and customers were friendly and the ambiance inside (outside seating too!) was so welcoming!Wish we lived closer!
I stopped at The Flying Joe a few weeks ago to meet a friend. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and helped me select the perfect cup of tea. I also ordered a breakfast sandwich, which was phenomenal! My friend had a cookie and latte, both of which he thoroughly enjoyed. Thanks to everyone at The Joe who works so hard to make sure that customers not only have great food and drinks, but a great experience as well!
Nice friendly staff and great coffee
Let me start by saying that I’ve gone here for several years and they still provide what I believe to be, the best coffee in the entire Greater Toledo area. My Coffee Quest winner 2 times in a row. But when I order a pourover (for dine-in) is it so much to ask that I get my coffee in a mug and not a paper to go cup, when I clearly ordered my drink for there? I understand maybe the whole tray setup may not always be available for every pour-over but the last 5 times I’ve gone and ordered a drink for there (which costs slightly extra by the way) I’m given my quality coffee in a paper cup and it just ruins my experience. I know it probably seems like a petty thing, but getting a quality brew in a nice ceramic mug is what defines quality coffee to me and I haven’t been getting that lately.
Easily one of the best coffee houses in the Toledo area. I recommend their Americano or Irish Coffee.
The drinks were fine but the guy who was preparing our drinks stopped and was just standing there talking to another employee. The other employee was working but he just stood there. I had even given a 15% tip ahead of time. We stop there whenever in the area, but I am not sure we will the next time.
Great place! Excellent Customer Service!
Always courteous and prompt service. As a lover of bright and fruity 3rd wave light roasts Id say theyre probably the only place in Toledo where even their auto-drip coffee is good!
THIS IS AN AWESOME LOCAL COFFEE SHOP WITH GREAT FOOD AS WELL!!!! I often come for a morning frozen caramel latte and an avocado toast an on a regular basis. 😁
The Flying Joe offers a truly excellent experience. Upscale pastries and gourmet coffee and teas are offered at competitive prices by a charming, cheerful staff that always makes us feel welcome. The staff went far above and beyond the call of duty. My wife inadvertently dropped a very expensive necklace when checking out. She searched frantically for two weeks, finally returning to the Flying Joe and lo and behold, the staff had held it for her and returned it with cheer and grace, refusing any reward, even remembering who she was. You cannot do better than the Flying Joe.
Coffee is on another level!
The scones here are incredible. They dont always appear over the top but the texture and flavor is perfect.
When Im looking for a top notch cup of coffee or tea concoction this is the place I think of first. Im in love with their matcha green tea latte, and the desserts on display are homemade and out of this world. The brunch looks beautiful and delicious; havent tried it yet but will update when this happens. Prices are reasonable for the quality you get. Highly recommended.
The staff is always super friendly! If they dont have you by name, they will recognize you as a regular though!Theyre all willing to help you find a coffee or tea drink that youll like!Pastries and treats are great pairings to their drinks!
Favorite coffee place in the area. Every drink on the menu is fantastic, and always made with the highest quality ingredients. The interior is a nice relaxed atmosphere, with a decent amount of seating.
First time in the area and liked to try local coffee shops. Staff was amazingly nice and prompt service.
Delicious latte and breakfast sandwich. Was very curious how the garlic aioli would taste on a breakfast sandwich and was pleasantly surprised. Finished my sandwich in 3 minutes tops, it was so good. fairly priced and quick as well.
Crazy good bagel sandwich- better than any other one you will try in the area. Coffee is far above average and brewed the right way. Extremely friendly staff and great atmosphere. Would not change a thing.
Typical coffee shop youd find in a big city. Provides everything you would expect and more. I am happy to have found this place. The only thing Id like to see is unisex bathrooms. They are both single occupancy units with toilets. Waste of time to make them gender binary.
I came on a slow morning and ordered a hot chocolate and avocado toast. I waited for 15 minutes for my food while they served a person who came after me before me. When I finally began to become impatient and stand by the table, they rushed to make my drink and my hot chocolate was hot steamed milk instead.
I had the honey lavender latte...could barely taste any lavender...
Great place for high quality cup of coffee. Made from pure filtered water. Cookies sandwiched with cream filling are unique and way to tempting. We love this spot for a stop on a weekend morning.
Great experience here today! The service was very good and the cappuccino was the best I have had in town to date. I will definitely return to try more!
The food is good, however for the price, I dont think the food is near worth the price. I ordered a quiche from there, and it cost me $9 for a piece of quiche equivalent to a small slice of pie. I make better quiche than they do, and could make two quiches for the price of their one small slice of quiche. I dont believe they bake their own pastries, they have them delivered from an outside bakery. Ive never had the coffee, though Ive had their matcha, and its above average. Three stars because of the convenience and location when in a hurry.
Cute place. We each ordered a breakfast sandwich and it took maybe 5 minutes to make. The garlic aioli was really good!
Tasty drinks - Staff was a bit unwelcoming.
Great coffee and the people are very niceBeen going here about once a week for years and never had bad service or coffee. They never fail to impress me with how good the coffee and service is. Would rate 5 more stars if I could. Even converted my Starbucks-crazed-sister by having her try this coffee only once. Shes now hooked needless to say
The Flying How is my new favorite place for coffee! Fantastic latte reasonably priced. Delicious! Highly recommend.
Not a lot of space here to get work done, especially if its busy. Coffee is good, but the atmosphere just isnt very cozy if youre looking for a place to relax and unwind. I would get the coffee to go and walk the Commons.
Very friendly. Nice atmosphere. Good prices
Coconut syrup is an easy choice in any drink.
Pretty good place to get a coffee or a pastry. not the healthiest or best place but pretty good. I got a green tea coffee which was delicious and a strawberry pastry. better than the rest in the immediate area
I went to The Flying Joe for the first time today after having it being recommended to me by a friend. The shop is very much like most other local coffee shops that have been popping up in the last few years with a rustic aviation theme. They are all about sustainability and responsibly raised products and they are very conscious of health fads by offering vegan and gluten free pastries, baked goods and other products. I really enjoy coffee shops like this, however that being said they did not blow me away. I told the cashier that it was my first time there and she didnt even flinch to offer any kind of assistance. Now I realize that coffee is coffee and a latte is a latte, but usually these types of shops get excited when a new customer comes in and they try to offer some insight into what theyre about, in their defense they were slightly busy with it being Sunday morning. I went ahead and ordered a cappuccino, which is unlike me as I tend to order either regular coffee or a latte and perhaps that is why I did not care for my drink. The cappuccino was a little bitter and strong, yes I know that it has two shots of espresso, but it seemed a little strong. I will be going back to give it a second chance and I will order something different and see if that was the issue, so that I can make a better comparison and decision as to how I feel about this particular shop.
Ive been coming to Flying Joe for years and am never disappointed. Great service and phenomenal atmosphere. Im obsessed with their Matcha Latte! Just cant get enough!
Best iced vanilla latte i’ve ever had!
This is place has the best coffee. Everyone is very friendly, especially the owners. The perfect place to get a coffee(tea, smoothies, etc) and relax. Would be a great place to get together with a study group.
We found this place with a Google search and was pleasantly surprised with a warm cozy atmosphere with nice music and couches. The staff was very friendly and suggested customer favorites. We were in the mood for extra caffeine so we I had a dark mocha and she had a flying joe. These were the best drinks anywhere! Very flavorful and rich, not bitter as some of the national brands tend to have. We are happy to have found this little gem! Try it, youll love it.
A great local gem! I am a regular here and love the services and the coffee. They offer great latte favorites as well as a wide selection of pour-over coffees. Hungry? Sandwiches, snacks, and doughnuts available for noshing. Give it a try.
Always a warm atmosphere and the staff are inviting. I love their dark chocolate mocha and the carry Actual Coffee for retail.
One of my former favorites! Quality of service and drinks haven’t quite been as excellent since they started serving alcohol.
The staff was SO nice and knowledgeable. Helped me pick a delicious drink and lunch that I never wouldve tried without the suggestions.
A good cup of joe. The microfoam was good, and the espresso was smooth. They had interesting flavors like Blackberry mint and orange vanilla. The food selection is a little sparse, but the pretzel sandwich and the focaccia was tasty and the homemade oatmeal creme pie was delicious. The wait was quite long though. No one in front of us and we waited about 20 minutes for our food and about 10 minutes for 2 lattes. Everything was fresh though.
Beautifully decorated and quaint. Menu has great variety and the staff is very knowledgeable. I visit often when in the Perrysburg area.
Not bad, there is a large coffee menu with many local options. However, the atmosphere could feel a little more cozy. It seemed a little too plain compared to other local/non-chain coffee shops. I would also like to see a larger food selection.
We go there every weekend for coffee and a bagel. Who knew simple could be so good!? Love Flying Joe, never had a bad meal or coffee.
Beautiful place and the coffee was great!
Very friendly place, very clean. I like it a lot. These cookies and muffins seem great. Very reasonable priced.
A friend mentioned the place. Rides his bike up from BG to hang out there. So, I wanted to try it. Enjoyable atmosphere. Good eats and drinks. A great place to meet friends.
This is certainly the best coffee place around. Inside youll find a very cozy atmosphere with aviation-themed decorations and very high ceilings, all with plenty of tables and sofas to give that lounge feel that Starbucks so desperately tries to emulate. Every barista Ive spoke with seems to have a real enthusiasm for their work and the world of coffee, so you know youre in good hands when you place an order. They also have a pretty great selection of loose leaf teas if thats more your speed, along with the usual pastries and snacks.
Far and away the best coffee shop in Perrysburg. I like the other places but no other shop has the staff, the atmosphere, and the drinks that The Flying Joe does. The staff makes great coffee but their breakfast sandwiches are to die for. Interesting people are always stopping by to meet up and talk and the staff knows dozens of locals by name. Its rarely long until they are regulars. I have tried most of their drinks, partly because I wanted to try a bit of everything they had but also because I needed an excuse to stay longer to soak up the sun, use the WiFi, and get work done. They use local roasters, which is always good, but they also make one heck of a cocktail. Its the perfect place to catch up with a friend, get work done, or just enjoy a great drink. Highly recommended to anyone, whether a coffee drinker or not.
