Hmmm...My brother in laws girlfriend took us to this restaurant when we visited NJ last month. As soon as walked in the restaurant that smell of Lysol hits my nostrils. Only one server taking care of 9 tables. Pretty busy place. We ordered 2 whole chicken and I was pretty hungry so I gobbled 4 pieces right away. We ordered other things and these are the only pictures I took since I was hungry. The chicken was great. Nice flavor and tender. The hot sauce they provided was amazing. Price is great as well. I forgot about the Lysol smell. Left full and happy - 4 stars!
Unbelievable food!!! If you want to eat Peruvian food with so many dishes to choose from. This is the place to go! I have been to a lot of Peruvian places in the US. But none like this!
Delicious peruvuan food with dinosaur portions! Huge bang for your buck$!
Just left this place and honestly the food is good which is great the only thing that lacks is the service once we came in no one acknowledged us but they were busy so i guess i understand and the waitress we had seemed serious but maybe it was because she was tired. The floor was also so greasy thats how you know they dont clean it that well. Anyways i give it 2 stars
I have been going there for years now, since they were over by the Car Wash. The food is always delicious and the family that runs the establishment makes you feel like family too.
Great food quantity!! If you have small appetite, you can share one main dish and one appetizer with one more person. We ordered seafood dish, I was not so fond of the taste but other customers recommended roasted chicken which is famous for one of signature Peruvian dish so it might be good to try.
Very delicious Peruvian food, I had two different dishes along with an appetizer all of which were great.
When l visit nj its a must to eat at SE Salio El Pollo the food is great tasting, such pleasant & friendly staff will visit again. 😀 👍🏽💗💗👏💫💫Thank you
Beautiful place for family dinner or lunch and the food its great
One of my favorite places to eat in Perth Amboy!! My husband and I are obsessed with their homemade green sauce. I normally get the chicken and rice. The only downside is if you order when they are super busy, you may have to keep dialing until you no longer get a busy tone. Otherwise, it’s truly one of the best places to eat in town! 😍💞
I ordered take out- Saltado a lo Pobre with a side of fried cassava (yuca) and everything was delicious my husband and I enjoyed it all. Will definitely be going back maybe for a dine in. When I picked up the place was clean, parking was a little complicated but no big deal.
Very good chicken and French fries must try!
Very very good food, I highly recommend it...😋
Ordered take out aguadito de Pollo (rice chicken soup with cilantro) and it was greasy, tasted spoiled. Either it was sitting all day in the pot cooking or it was an old batch from their fridge they heated up. My parents got cau cau and it smelled and tasted spoiled too. Wont be going there again.
The chicken here is great, but what makes it amazing is the aji. Make sure to get extra for dipping. I wish the fries were crispy here, but they are always soggy, even in the restaurant. But i dont come here to eat the fries.
Delicious authentic peruvian food. Parking is a bit of a hassle since theres limited parking in the rear. Youre probably better off parking on the street (across the street) and walking over. Pricing is reasonable for the amount of food they give you. The only thing I dont like is they ration the green hot sauce & white mayo based sauce. They also charge you extra if you ask for more sauce containers when youre taking to go. The place is clean and always smells good. Hand sanitizer is now available at each table which is convenient.
Ordered yucca a la huancaina (the sauce wasn’t spicy at all and didn’t have flavor) i make better sauce then this! and half rotisserie chicken with fries. (The chicken didn’t have much flavor and the fries weren’t crispy they were all limp) definitely nothing compared to kikiriki or chic king! Won’t return
If I could give a negative 5 I would. I love coming to this place, however today was definitely my last. 4 tables in the whole restaurant 2 servers. 1 of which taking all tables, the second server literally sitting at a table on the phone. We asked him for service and he said you have to wait. We sat for 35 minutes and no one came. We asked him one more time if anyone could take our order and he said again, you have to wait for the other server, Im busy. Just beyond disappointed. Please dont come to this place. Service is just beyond bad and aggravating. See pics
The food is good, the service is alright. We got Lomo, salchipapa, and a half chicken🤤. If you park in the parking lot, make sure you back into your spot because its tight to get out!
I been going here since they been located on RT 35 and since I moved an hour away there is no place near me that comes close to this place . I gladly travel over an hour to go there and the food and portions are always great . I wish they would have a location near Easton PA . I have nothing negative to say about this place . Always a great experience and thinking about taking a rd trip for a visit today .
Their Peruvian chicken has to be one of the best I’ve ever tasted. It’s cooked and seasoned in a heavenly way. But the reason I can’t give them 5 stars, often their customer service can be shaky. But it is still worth ordering from, just try to avoid peaks or busy hours.
The place was not friendly, the floor was super grease and slippery, the when I ask why was the reason charging 3% for using credit card, I believe it was the owner he got upset and answer me very nasty. Sorry but it was my first time there and my last.
Very bad service the floor was wet the table was dirty, and the waitress took for ever and in the top of that she tell us we sit in the table of the forgiven because we sit in the back part because it was very crowded,I had come here before it was good but it looks like is a new owner,I end up leaving with my wife to another place never going back there worse place to go if you desire Peruvian food on a father day.
Love se salio el Pollo everything is so good a little pricey but good food love the Anticuchos when they are just done so fresh and juicy. Todo es rico lo recomiendo
Big portions, great service, comfy atmosphere, and most importantly delicious authentic Peruvian food. What else can you honestly ask for!!! Also coming from a fellow Peruvian.
Terrible costumer service, you order for pick up waiting one hour twenty minutes, and they don’t know where is your order is, and the only excuse we have a lot costumer 🙄😡
They close at 8:30, but told us dine in was closed already when we walked in at 7. I’ve never seen a kitchen as inefficient as this one.
Food portions are huge! Also food is delicious make sure to come hungry!
Best peruvian food ever.
Good food but a little cold not a problem but it will ne if u keep on with it
Very good food, fast service.
I absolutely love this place. I’ve been coming to them for years. About 13 years ago I went on a date with a Peruvian guy and he brought me to the old location and I absolutely fell in love. (with the food LOL) Place was small but very nice staff it looked family owned. Now their new location is big and nice and clean . Also got a lot more space for tables. One time when I pulled up to pick up my food, they seen that I had two small babies with me and a nice Gentlemen brought me out my food to the car. When I tried to tip him he refused. (So sweet) Just a genuine nice family oriented place. I would Definitely recommend it to all my friends and family, absolutely delicious!!!!
I ordered ceviche, jalea tallarín verde con bisteck and one extra menu.I just can said its the worst peruvian restaurant that I never tried. Firstable I wait more than one hour for receive my order and all food was cold, ceviche and jalea dont have any taste and the menu was lomo saltado a lot of onions and 3 pieces of meat.... Nice job for me, I never going to order for this place.
Food was delicious! Price is resonate for the portion size. I was happy they were open earlier then usual because I wouldnt have been able to discover them being that I happend to be around the area.
Its a great place but way too expensive.
Ceviche was very good.
Employe is very rude, I didn’t finish ordering and she was acting like a pig, worst experience.
Good food...great customer service.
Great food peruvian food is deliciosos
Food is amazing but the owner, omg is like she hates being there and takes it on customer .
Never answer phone..went in to see all register clerks cussing out loud! and acting foolishly in front of everyone. They must thought I dont understand spanish.
Worst experience ever, third time on arrow that we get uncooked chicken. The only part that looks cooked is the skin but once you start eating you see the red uncooked chicken.
Not taste good
The best peruvian good in the área special the charbroilchiken and jalea and ceviche sudado Etcétera
Best Peruvian food in Middlesex
Do not order through the phone they make you wait and they don’t take your order right... when I showed up to pick up my order they are fast to charge you before they give you the food but aren’t attentive when it comes to giving you the right order don’t go here...
Bad costumer service, no patience with the costumer and but attitude.
I went to oder just a shaufa and 1/2 of chilken.and other people that order right after me got the food faster than me.wath a wasted of Time. And bad service the person that took my oder have a bad time to remember my order.nerver again.if you want waste your time go head and go for it!
If you want genuine Peruvian food in the Perth Amboy, NJ area, this is your place. They are a little bit pricy but is worth it.
The taste horrible
The food is good but when you buy roasted chicken the children look Well done from outside but from inside of the pieces it is raw if they just well done the meat it shall be better if they just made the chicken roasted because when you buy it from inside you see the is raw some time you even can see the blood in the chicken .
Good services and very professional employees
I love getting my food from this restaurant I usually get the chicken steak rice mix it is called in SpanishArroz chafa mixtos.
I personally like the Chicken, my husband hates it. I will say this the service SUCKS! They are rude, abrupt, and quick to dismiss there customers. I have had multiple experiences under the same circumstances. Not an isolated case! I would say it may be a cultural thing, but Im Hispanic myself. So No excuses! Being kind goes a long way! And Im sure the food would taste better if they added a little love!
Delicious food every single time
Love the food and the sauces. Best around hands down.
Employees rude not polite at all. Prices different on brochure menu and online. When I asked why they said do to pandemic prices went up. When I suggested they update the prices online and their brochures they said you dont have to order here. Who talks like that?
Great foodGreat services
Super delicious food, the place is clean, welcoming, staff friendly, prices are reasonable, good lighting, bathrooms are clean, parking is fair but the food is super good. Strongly recommend this place
Great food ! I love the chicken, the rice and the sauces... now that they have moved to a different and bigger location its slightly better! I just cant go any higher than 3 stars because service is terrible every single time... as other people mentioned before, they take forever to greet you and even longer to take your order. To the owner of this place... PLEASE do something to improve customer/guest service and maybe, just maybe you might get better feedback and greater clientele !
Its good
Horrible experience services is bad, bad, bad and don’t you dear complaint. Came here for a second time in hope the service improved and had the same results as the first time but worst. Is lunch time the only consumer in the Restaurant is me and order 1/4 Chicken and they have me waiting close to 10min. When said I couldn’t wait any longer and explained this not the first time they have me waiting. They older guy exploded with a sarcasm and poor attitude letting me know pretty much that I am not the only customer and that the cook is cooking for others too. The first time I went to eat in the restaurant God is my witness they had my waiting in between taking the order and bringing it to me closes to two hours and one of the orders where completely wrong and the explanation was that since they had mess up on the actual order and it takes time to cook that I should eat that. I thought that was wrong but did not argue since just want to eat and get out of there. Well after finishing the meal I asked for the check and guess what right, waited another 1/2 to pay the bill. And, yet I was respectful about it. Today I came for a quick take out and got the same results plus the aggravation of who I believe is the business owner. If you come to eat and don’t care about anything else and yet are ready to wait be my guest the food is fair BUT pricey. However, as a consumer if you like to be treated with dignity and respect and you value your time. This is definitely not a place for you.
This is the BEST PERUVIAN RESTAURANT in the area. All their dishes are delicious. Huge portions at reasonable prices.
DID NOT PROVIDE EATING UTENSIL FOR TAKE OUT ORDERS
Had chicken combo. Very nicely seasoned. Aji was amazing. Love it.
Real good food in this place
I just went to their second location located in Roselle NJ, I bought a whole chicken and when I cut into several pieces it was pink.I called the location to let them know that the chicken wasnt fully cooked. The woman who answered the phone was disinterested and didnt care to remedy the issue with the order.I will not be ordering from here again.
If I could rate this place zero stars, I would. However, the food is actually very well cooked so that one star is for the food. It saddens me that this restaurant makes excellent food, but the service to the customers is horrendous. My parents and I were seated after 3 families that came in after us were seated first. When we were seated, we waited 25 minutes for someone to take our order. We did not stay quiet, but continuously asked for someone to please take our order. During this time, the 3 families that were seated ahead of us, ordered and received their food. The man who cleaned our table noticed that we had not been served yet and told a male waiter to take our order and that waiter shrugged his shoulders, made a nasty face and never came to take our order. That is when the man who cleaned our table took initiative to take our order. After our meal was over, we asked a female waiter 3 times to bring us our check. Once again, during this time, she gave 6 other tables their checks. Then, my father walked up to the front and asked for the check. When the female waiter asked the male waiter if he was in charge of our table, he gave a nasty attitude and said noooo. They did not care whatsoever. We traveled from Brooklyn to eat here because the food is so good, but we were saddened by the service. My honest advice is to order your food and take it home.
The food was delicious and the portions above average! I will eat there again but only take-out. The service unfortunately its not good. The girls that are there dont care a bit for customer service, they kept mixing up the table orders and it took them awhile to attend to customers which majority of times had to chase them to get their attention. Very poor service but again I really enjoyed the food. Price very affordable and decent parking space available. The restaurant is nicely decorated and the food presentation was very appealing. Like I said, customer service is their downfall and hopefully dont ruin their business.
The restaurant is pretty nice but a little on the cramped side. Although, parking can be a bit of an issue. Most the food is really authentic and flavorful. Be prepared to wait a long time, whether youre getting take-out or eating in. It is a little pricey but if youre looking for good Peruvian food, then you came to the right place.
The best Chicken
We live about 25 miles south of Perth Amboy but happened to be in the area and had some time to kill. It was lunchtime, we were hungry and happened upon this homey restaurant. Its small and unpretentious, but we were amazed at the EXCELLENT food!!! I ordered the sauteed spaghetti with beef because Id never had anything like that before. The portion was huge, the vegetables were super fresh and the spaghetti and beef were to die for. Weve told our friends about this treasure and we cant wait to go back!
The food was very well done and the service was excellent. Would recommend to others.
Best Peruvian chicken in town!!! Was there yesterday and loved my Pollo a la Brasa, my friends Chaufa with beef and the monstrosity of a piece of cake!!! I was totally in heaven... now customer service does need to be improved. Although my friend and I loved her beef dish, she had asked for chicken. I think the place is just way busy and they have not nailed the customer service part yet. But when you taste the food you might even forgive it. They probably should put peoples names on a list as they enter so they don’t lose the order in which people came in, that’s what they do in many establishments to keep the order and keep customers from getting upset. I hope they take the advice. And of course they need somebody to tend to the phone properly. Oh yeah that purple juice and green sauce are FABULOUS!!! I will be going there again despite the crowd, and I’m trying to treat my son and daughter-in-law yo dinner so they can go there and try it!!!!
Omg!!! Very very disorganized even if you call to order you still have to wait almost 45 minutes outside in these heat..
The service is terrible in this restaurant. Waiters are so slow and not polite. When We enter the restaurant the waiter told us to wait to be seated but there were 4 empty tables. We waited for several minutes and ask one of the waiters if are table was ready and he completely ignore us. After several times asking to the people in the cashier we were seated. Food is good and the menu offers diverse Peruvian dishes.
This restaurant has the best chicken in town. I eat here once a week. Delish
The best Peruvian food in new Jersey
Excellent place, delicious fresh food, great chicken flavors, affordable price, nice attentions, friendly staff. Family atmosphere.
Best food in perth amboy...better than any Dominican restaurant that ive tried in perth amboy...best fried red snapper.and best juice baked chicken
Good food. Fast service. They wvwn have the walls painted that green from Peru
Food is good. However, service is lacking very badly! They dont pick up their phone. I called to place an order and thought maybe they had closed. I tried all of their numbers and multiple times until FINALLY someone picked up. When I went to pick up, I witnessed them just completely ignoring the phone. They need DESPERATLY someone that can MULTITASK! After calling the order in 30 minutes ahead, I still waited another 30 minutes to get my food. Ridiculous!!! They need to move the lady in the front desk, she moves like a sloth and will practically ignore you!
It was ok. Servers were friendly
After a year i decided to give them a second chance and Called in to pick up an order,, i will never sit inside to eat in a restaurant that serves in plastic cups and disposable plates, ok. I parked and i exit my vehicle to look at my right side tire, i didnt even get out of the car one of the owners comes out and yelled at me i cant park there, i asked why he said this is only for customers, i answered what makes you think Im not a customers, he yelled back because you Dominicans and Mexicans park here and go to the supermarket next door, looks to me he has problems with Mexican and Dominicans, their food is not he greatest for the price, too greasy and the owner should worry about buying a dishwasher than looking at everyone who parks outside, i will never go back and will never order any food from work.
RUDE OWNER!!!! Called too place an order at 9:20pm pm and online it says they are open till 10pm and I told him that and he didn’t care and said “yeah that’s for the people that are eating here bye “ I don’t recommend! That’s the last time I ever give them my money !
Chofan de pollo exelente comida.Chiken chofan is the Spanish version of the typical Chinese rice. But way better. Try and let me know...
Perfect
Your website says you close at 10:00pm on Sundays. I just called at 9:30pm, willing to pick up the food and the man said they close 8:30pm on Sundays. Maybe your website should reflect your hours of operation.
The service in this place SUCKS!! They are always busy and rude. There is an older women who is the rudest and not customer service person at all. They need to start hiring a bigger staff and not be so cheap on labor because it is ruining their reputation. The only good thing they have is the food. I really wish someone else would open up another restaurant close by so they can be out of business.
