We really enjoyed the food at this restaurant. While it is located in the RPV area the food cost wasn’t bad.The sampler was good and filling. It was so filling that by the time our main food came out we were feeling a bit stuffed. With that said, the food tasted great the next day.Glad we ordered desert. It was well presented and had the right amount of sweetness.Our waiter was very attentive and friendly.My only complaint is this: why is there no Horchata? This is a Mexican restaurant right?

Best pizza I’ve had in a long while.The dough is great quality, Tastes home made!Chewy with great medium thickness…Crust was amazing.Loved the spinach pizza, best tasting healthy alternative!Meat pizza had real quality meats! My husband loved that!And the knots were so good I could eat those for dinner.Well done F T !No more MOD for us!!!

Always great food and ambiance. I had a chile relleno with sweet corn tamale (combo 15). Ive had other meals including chicken mole and I have never been disappointed. Drinks are also good.

Yummy! We ate indoors. A table for 6 in the corner. I had a chicken enchilada with Spanish rice and veggies 😋. Hadnt been there in years. 2 bowls of Chips and salsa were brought to the table. We will be back.

Great selection of delicious Mexican cuisine at this historic local jewel. Make sure you read the restaurants history on the first page of the menu. Although the beautifully appointed interior is not currently in use, the restaurant has set up a large shaded outdoor seating area to comply with COVID-19 countermeasures.We had a great selection of classics and all were fantastic. The rice and beans had perfect texture with crispy rice and creamy beans. The ground beef taco had a perfectly crispy fried shell, the carnitas platter was flavorful and delicious, the tamale perfectly combined tasty pork with just the right amount of cornmeal. For a smaller appetite, the street tacos (i had shrimp) were perfectly sized and combined just the right flavors with cilantro, pico, and two salsa types on the side.

I like how there is a parking space out front for pick up orders.The Combination Platter appetizer includes a mini flour or corn quesadilla, two taquitos, two mini sopes, two Mexican rumakis, two jalapeño poppers and four buffalo wings, served with guacamole, pico de gallo and sour cream.A lot of it is deep fried, so not really healthy. But the variety is nice for $17.95, and it feeds two people as a meal.

Havent been to the red onion in a long time and Im glad we came back. The food was excellent, of course it is outdoor seating but it was a pleasant day for it. Reservations are a must unless you like waiting. Plus its hard to find a place that will take reservation these days.

Food was outstanding ... the guacamole was as good as ever but I missed them making it at the table. The restaurant was busy but I wished the server had asked if we wanted a second beer! I did notice that we were the only table served by this waiter! I wouldnt hesitate to recommend The Red Onion again ... one small glitch is easily overlooked when everything else was great!

Wonderful place, they set up a very nice outside patio (Covid) and had the normal menu with their wonderful drinks 🍸... they are open till 9 so that is nice also.. had the carnitas and it was delicious.. skinny margarita 🍹 double was a kick for sure!

Grew up eating at the Westchester location. Found the original recently and I have to say it is just as good as I remembered!! Great food and Breakfast served all day is always a magical phrase for me.

Hubby and I cant get enough of this place. A favorite go to for date night. Everything is good but we especially love the Chile rellano. Mmmm my mouth Is watering just thinking about it! Staff is excellent and they have fine in or outdoor dining.

Outdoor seating is available. However 5 pound pet not allowed in pet stroller. Very popular restaurant. I have eaten there well over a hundred times over the years, but I will never return and I live just across the street. Eating at Asaka today instead .... so much nicer people and pet friendly..... over looking the pacific

After a long drive up the hill we came to Red Onion. Surprised at prices. Happy with service and excellent food. Easy 5 star. Enjoy.

We went here for dinner, and we sat outside in the temporary tent. The outdoor experience was fine, but one of the propane tanks for the heaters seemed to be leaking, and the smell was horrible. The service was very mediocre; the restaurant was clearly understaffed. Our food was fine, but nothing special. I had the carnitas street tacos, and they were a bit greasy. The flavors were good, though. Other dishes at our table were similar; they were a bit greasy but tasted fine. Overall, the night was very mediocre and lackluster. It wasnt terrible, but it wasnt great either.

Ignore any bad reviews on Red Onion.They sat us before our time, brought our drinks quickly. Appologised that they were understaffed ahead of time, and said the kitchen may be a little slow and to bear with them. The food came out as expected and not slow. The margaritas were fantastic.The food was cooked to perfection and tha taste was wonderful. Will return. Brought back memories, as i have not eaten here in maybe 30 years.

Although the restaurant decor is quaint, the bland, low-quality food is only surpassed by the even lesser quality of their in-restaurant dining experience. My husband and I went for dinner (pre-pandemic) and after having an average meal and ZERO check-ins from our server for drink refills, etc., we waited for over 30mins for our check. Service has not improved much since then, so would not recommend.

Ask for Carlos Meneses as your waiter.Very attentive and a gentleman.The dinners were served quickly and accurately. 2 thumbs up!!!

We came for conversation, good food and pitchers of margaritas . Red onion definitely delivered 😋. We had excellent customer service and delicious food and drinks. I opted for the street tacos plate and our table paired it with a peach margarita and at its price point there was nothing to loose.

I been going to Red Onion since I was 6 years old I am 48 now and I live in northern Cali Sacramento every time I come back home I have to come get some of the Greatest Mexican Food ever.

Had dinner there on July 25th. Waitress was a little impatient. Two of our orders were taken incorrectly and when they attempted to correct, they still got one of the orders wrong again. High prices for average food.

This is an iconic restaurant. I remember dining there back in the 70s and it is just as good now as it was then. The inside is still the same even though we are currently having to dine outdoors. Thank you to the Earle family for keeping the integrity of this amazing restaurant.

The Red Onion (aka: “The Funion”) quite simply…IS Palos Verdes. It must be the longest running local family-owned restaurant (1963) in Palos Verdes. The staff has spanned many generations and it is the equivalent of our local “Cheers” restaurant/bar where everybody knows your name. The ambiance always says “Welcome/Bienvenidos” to families, couples, girls night, date night and whatever else you want to celebrate. Starving? Get the giant wet burrito. Craving breakfast at 8:00 pm? Get the Huevos Rancheros. Feeling healthy? Get the Red Onion salad or steamed chicken tacos. Pro tip: ask for a side of avocado dressing to go with your chips, salsa and guacamole. Jerry, our favorite bartender, is ready to serve up some strong margaritas (including Melanie’s favorite skinny jalapeño margarita!), Modelos and shots of tequila to keep the fiesta going. Lots of outdoor seating during pandemic restrictions. Extremely friendly service, excellent food with large portions and stiff drinks. They now have wonderful tents and heaters outside. It all makes for a great evening. Reservations are required for peak times, which are most evenings.

This place never seems to disappoint! You honestly cant go wrong with anything on the menus and if you want a really good Margarita or Cadillac this is the place. I have been here three times and the service is always exceptional with high quality attentiveness. If you want to take your significant other out on a nice dinner this is the place!

My favorite Mexican restaurant!!!! I have been going to the OG RedO since I was a kid. I used to go there with my parents and now my husband and I take our children there. Best Mexican food!!! Been on a Cesar salad kick lately but usually have their combo with the crunchy taco and cheese enchilada.

This place is awesome. I only recently started going there, but I am very impressed by how well they have adapted to the restrictions of the Coronavirus. Their outdoor set up is beautiful and I have enjoyed eating there several times.

They have done an amazing job with moving the dinning room outside. The food is still amazing and the service is outstanding. The outside dining area they have set up in the parking lot is great you dont feel like you are in the parking lot. It is still a great place for an evening out and to enjoy a great meal.

So awesome that they are still here. Best Mexican food on the hill!

A classic haunt in Palos Verdes. The Earle family opened this wonderful Mexican food restaurant many years ago and it is still owned and managed by Jeff Earle. It is a family favorite and their margaritas are delicious!

The Mexican food I grew up with consists of this place and The Enchilada House in San Pedro (if you dont know that place then youre missing out). The Original Red Onion is not the most authentic Mexican food restaurant but its fantastic. The staff are super friendly. In the before time (pre-covid) you would have to wait at peak times but you were usually seated quickly because the place is HUGE. In covid times I highly recommend placing a reservation. There is outdoor dining but the place is popular and capacity is much less than the inside. But it all really comes down to the staff. Theyre about as good as it gets. TRY IT!

Took a long time to bring food.

The outside setup is done really well. It looks like it should have always been there. The service was pretty attentive and professional. The food however was hit and miss... tortilla soup was good, corn tortilla was mushy, drinks are good, chicken mole was underdone. Probably not coming back for a while.

TREMENDOUSLY disappointed with what transpired here today. My family has eaten here on a number of occasions but today we were turned away for no good reason.We called ahead to make sure they take walk-ins. They confirmed yes. We packed up the family (all 10 of us) and headed to the restaurant for my nieces birthday.Upon walking to the outdoor seating area, we were immediately told they could not seat a party of 10. My sister says you can break us up. THEN we were told that there was limited walk in seating and they couldnt seat us.I then went inside to get an understanding as to what was really going on. After explaining what happened the gentleman behind the counter began to make excuses. He then admitted that walk in seating was limited and the guy probably didnt want to give up all the seats. Needless to say, we left after that.I cant say for sure that the fact that we were an African American family was the reason for being turned away, but it certainly felt like it. Our family wont be patronizing them any more, thats for sure.

I’d love their chips and salsa. My family comes all the time. I always get the chicken because sometimes the food is too spicy for me. I love the tropical iced tea
