My experience at this store has always been positive. I purchased 2 cameras, a variety of lenses, bags, and accessories in different visits to the store. I worked with both Russell and James.I initially went to Wolf to inquire about a large telescopic lens to be used for a particular purpose with an older DSLR. Russell was very knowledgeable about all the different products I might choose from, and he helped me find the best product for me. After purchasing that lens, I then asked about upgrading my camera, and he spent additional time showing me what would be a good next step for me. It was 6 months later before I returned to purchase, and he remembered our previous conversation and what I was interested in. He was always very helpful and never appeared to be pushy or uninterested in my requests.James led my 1 hour Photo Patrol tutorial that I purchased when I bought the camera. I highly recommend purchasing this—these sessions are designed to get a user up and running very quickly with the camera. But these are also tailored to a purchaser’s needs. If I were more experienced, I think he would have focused on whatever I needed. He also went out of his way to help me get set up for an event I was attending the next day. He was very nice and very helpful. He is an experienced photographer as well and I wouldn’t hesitate to work with him—he’s great too!
Ive always enjoyed this store and the employees that work there because of the product and the knowledge they share. I bought lenses and accessories from them in the previous year. However this last trip I made there, It felt like I was treated like an idiot. I had an issue with my flash; that I purchased from them about an year ago. I kind of knew what the problem was but I wanted professional opinion since theyve always been great, I jumped in my car and drove to the store. Upon arrival, I was greeted with a new face who looked at me and just ignored my presence. I waited about 15 minutes before he reached me again; granted they were little busy, It doesnt hurt to say hello to the people who enter your store.I expressed that I may have an issue with my flash, and I relayed the information to him . Even without looking at the flash, He bluntly cut me off while explaining and told me to send it to Nikon because Its my problem. I do not appreciate that kind of attitude. I am in customer service and for someone to say such a thing, Its very disrespectful.I have previously enjoyed dealing with their employees before, but this time, I was disappointed. Theres a lot of places that sell the same equipment but I preferred them because of the vast knowledge I gained from having conversations with them about products and of course It always felt great to spend money in their store, again because they did such a wonderful job in explaining everything to me.Customer should not be treated like royalty only when theyre spending money with you. Its a relationship that should be carried on further when they have an issue as well.I ended up taking it to a local store where they took the time to take a look at my flash; kept it for a day for diagnostics, called me back with detailed information, all for free and gave me my options. I ended up getting it fixed from them for less than what I had expected and frankly speaking, In future, I might as well go to them where they treat people with respect.Like I said, I am in customer service so I would not let 1 employee reflect on the whole company. I will still shop at wolf camera for my photography needs but If I see that employee I would not buy from him for sure.
There are only 1 or 2 employees that are nice to the customers and really try to help the customer in what ever they need. Russell for one, is rude and short with customers. He has been that way with me and I have heard him be that way to others. I wish there were more camera shops around the DFW area. If you dont have to go here, I wouldnt. These bad reviews are correct. Who ever owns this store needs to check the reviews and try to change things.
Was there for over an hour looking at different cameras and lenses. One of the guys there didnt know anything and was completely useless though he admitted that and directed me to someone who could help me. Perhaps he was just new. This other guy was very helpful and gave me a lot of in depth information.
Hello, my name is Landon and I have worked at this store for many years and have grown to know many great people in Plano and surrounding cities. Our company has undergone many ownership changes over the years. However, I regret to inform everyone that our stores are now closed for good. I have enjoyed working at Wolf Camera for the past 15 years here in Plano and trying my best to help everyone with their camera questions and needs. I have read some the reviews here on this site and I have to say that most are positive which I really appreciate, but some are very unfair and misguided. We will no longer be here to serve you, but hopefully I will still see some of you around town. A couple of us will continue to offer the services which we did in store (camera cleaning, teaching, video transfer/editing, scanning photos, backing up phones, etc). Before I go, I want to say thank you to all my loyal customers who have worked with me over the years.
Not the worst customer service Ive ever received, but up there. I went in looking for three items, and the sales associate went straight to the most expensive in each category (this despite my request to keep cost down since Im brand new to photography). Prices were also not competitive with Amazon, even though I was comparing Amazon retail pricing to Wolfs post-Christmas discounted pricing.Sales associate was also persistent in the upsell - I wasnt in the market for lenses, and he kept going to the back to get lenses for me to look at.Generally a frustrating experience. Ill save my business for Amazon + mom & pop in the future.
Shut this Mess Down !I now understand why everyone on the planet shops at B&H Camera. This place is completely rudderless. Inventory strewn everywhere, rude/clueless employees bumping into each other. I told 2 people in the store looking at a couple cameras to only shop B&H and skip this used car lot. I witnessed the employees walking sale after sale. The place genuinely has a we are begging you not to buy here vibe. Very sad, because a store like this should be doing $50,000/Day. I guarantee they arent doing $3,000 even on a busy day. Nope. Shut it down!
On my first visit I was helped by one person. Upon returning no one seemed capable of help because I had already talked to an employee previously but they were able to order my camera. However they messed up my order, tried to up sell me like crazy, and were condescending when I didnt opt for the higher prices. They finally offered to order my original request but now Im having to wait a second time with my trip upcoming. I looked online during my 25 minute wait and found the exact item from the company site it was 100 cheaper. Prices are sketch. Avoid this store.
Sad, this place is close now. It was the only place to get great camera gearss that I know. Since they closed the Flower Mound location, Plano was my only hope for Wolf Camera. TThey now closed this place too.
Most knowledgeable staff in town. Great shopping experience and very well stocked store.
Staff is super helpful and very knowledgeable. I came in to get some advice about a camera and the staff really helped out. 10/10
I stopped in to ask a few questions before purchasing a camera and Russell made an attempt to help but makes you feel completly stupid with his condescending ways. It seemed as if I was wasting his time by asking questions. Well thats 1200.00 of my money he wont be getting. I will never buy from him.. ever.
I bought a Tamron 10-24 mm lens for my Nikon last week. Kevin was the salesman and he was very helpful, answering several questions on a wide variety subjects.
Best place in North Dallas for all your photography needs.
Good array of options to buy for your camera from lenses to accessories
Drove to this location today to find it gone, so sad. Landon you were very helpful to me, sorry the store is gone, wishing you every success.
Very helpful sales person helped me find exactly what I was looking for
Very knowledgeable staff. They take time to make sure you are get the camera that fits your needs.
DO NOT GO HERE.The employees are a bunch of jerks. No one will treat you the way you deserve to be treated. AND, these people will sell you a gray market camera, without your consent or knowledge, voiding the warranty that comes with the camera. Then they will lie to you to cover their tracks.DO NOT GO HERE.These people will scam you and lie to you. This location cannot get shut down soon enough.
Come here and ask for Larry. Hes the most friendly, helpful, and energetic retail employee I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.
Russell was very informative, and patient left with a great deal on a great camera! Thanx
Very very helpful people at this specific location..
Recently went here to buy a solar filter and a telephoto extender to go with my 70-300mm lens, both of which seemed to confuse the poor salesman as he kept thinking I wanted a UV filter, and had a 75-200mm lens. He then assured me that the extender would fit my lens after I corrected his misconception, which didnt.
Charges too much for film processing and they scratched up my negatives. I will go to BWC for film processing from now on.
Very good place
Awesome prints.
Ugly mannered, unhelpful and condescending staff. Whoever owns this store needs to fire everyone and start over. Surprised they are still in business. And FYI, the website listed here is not for Wolf Camera.
