This was something new for me, the staff was very friendly and professional. The portion was a lot larger than expected and Im not complaining. The steak was cooked to perfection. Overall taste 5/5, service 5/5, cleanliness 4/5. Highly recommend if you dont feel like hitting up a large chain restaurant.

I may have given this place a 9 out of 10. We ordered one meal in the photos I am posting here... the cooks kindly split our chicken fried chicken plate and sides in half for us. We did order an extra roll since everyone said they were the best, and they were amazing. My partner on the other hand had a different opinion. The food had a deep chemical after taste that was hard to describe to me. I slightly could taste it, but easily couldnt as well.. Maybe the oil burner coils were burnt out? Gosh I dont know... But something in the fried food was off. Also my partner would rather we did not dine in again unless the tables werent so sticky. Oh, the waitstaff had been delightful.

The hamburger steak is the best! It comes with grilled onions and mushrooms in a gravy sauce over the top. The gravy is not made in house but the taste is on point! I prefer to order it blackened but you can order it regular, I find it’s more flavorful that way. Check this place if you’ve not been yet, and try the hamburger steak!

Ive never been to this place before but Im hooked and totally in love!!Fried pickles are the best Ive ever had the breading has a unique taste and actually has flavor.The chicken fried steak was divine... Black eyed peas spectacular. The mixed vegetables were cooked just enough they had flavor and a bit of a crunch.The chicken fried chicken salad is the best salad Ive ever eaten paired with House made honey mustard dressing.Dont pass this place by make sure you try it out!Thanks yall!!

First visit. Service excellent Lesson learned ... dont get an appetizer. Portions are generous. I had chicken fried steak, & hubby had chicken mushroom chicken. Loved the small loaves of bread & cornbread. Would have loved turnip greens with the cb. Brought enough home for dinner. Have a bar as well.

Hands down one of the best mom and pop restaurants I’ve been at. The food was amazing, side note if you think you need another roll with your meal… you don’t because they are huge. Tyler served is and had impeccable customer service. Aveen was the good runner and even the short interaction with her was so very pleasant . Fantastic place over all !

My wife introduced me to this place, because she mentioned that their fried okra was the best in town. I was pleasantly surprised by the other things this restaurant had to offer. I was very surprised at the fact that the outside looks so small, but once you come inside, you see how big the place actually is, and that it even includes outside seating! The customer service here is the pinnacle of southern hospitality, and the food options here are incredible. I tried the blackened pasta which was amazing, and the country fried steak is unlike any Ive ever tasted. I was most surprised by their bread that they give you. Its a thick, heavy bread, and its really really good, and it is very filling. I can highly assure you, you will need to go boxes in the end. I definitely will come back to try more items from their menu!!

The food is very good especially their appetizers. Mushrooms, cheese sticks, fried pickles to die for. Great happy hour 4-7half price apps and drinks. A little understaffed during Covid but hey isn’t everyone? Great local place.

The best chicken fried steak Ive ever had. They use an actual ribeye! Great service, great food and cold beer. Cant beat it. Dont go to any other southern style restaurant. They cant compete!

When I look at southern cooking I look for real ingredients. I can say the food was good. I had the rainbow trout the fish was good. I can only say that I think some things could have been done different. The steamed rice and vegetables were perfect. I did not try fried food so I can not say anything about that.

The last time we were here was 4 years ago. We commented on Facebook that we were impressed... not sure why 🤔We had the CFS and chopped steak. The breading on my CFS would came off everytime I went to cut off a piece and to me thats a HUGE no-no! The food came out lukewarm as well. The only saving grace was the dinner rolls, those were the best! Texas Roadhouse is MUCH better!!!

Great food, great customer service. Our waiter was very nice and polite. The rolls and the cornbread OMG! So good! My husband and I had the CFS and tilapia with sides. Food was on point fresh and hot, like its supposed to be.

All they need on the menu is grilled pork chops. I have to say they mite be better then my own on the grill ! Lawd!

I really like their chicken fried steak which uses a touch of hot sauce to add taste to the shell.

Good food. Large portions. Good variety... Plus entree comes with 2 veg AND a salad. Reasonably priced. Nobody does yeast rolls better... And yes they have real butter, which makes a difference on those rolls and cornbread.

The food is good but the service is not good if your arent a regular. People who were seated well after us recieved their food at their tables within minutes while we had to pour our own coffee and waited three times as long for our food as the regulars seated after us. There was also a huge water bug on the wall that one of the regular customers took off her shoe and killed in front of us and her shoe landed on a plate of food. Thankfully it was a person seated at her table but it was not appetizing to us as we were still waiting on our food. No wait staff around when that happened. The waitress only came to our table to tell us that we didnt need anything. I said, no I would like our check. She left it at the table and my husband had to wait at the bar to pay for our bill because she never came back. As I said, before if you are a regular I guess its good but Ill spend my money somewhere else.

Employees are super nice. Restaurant was clean and quiet. The food was freshly prepared but super bland. Bland mashed potatoes, chicken fried steak, gravy, and chicken fingers. Not bad. Just bland. My wife had a ribeye though, and it was above average.

Our first time here and I habe to say the service here is absolutely the best. There was 3 ladies making sure the ENTIRE restaurant was taken care of. The Deluxe Salmon was ok. The catfish was ok. But the VEGETABLES OMG... Thats where the southern cooking came in. They are delicious! Between the amazing service and those green beans, no wonder people keep coming here!

It’s such a shame that I discovered this place just recently and not sooner. I heard from someone that the food is great and I should try it out. I said I love home cookin and I’ll try it out, and boy am I glad I did. Food is just fantastic and I’ve now found my favorite corn bread. It’s big like a loaf and taste so good. Southern Recipes Grill and Jay Jays are by far the best home cookin spots in Arlington, hands down. It’s now a once, sometimes twice a week staple for me.

Its rare to get a meal where the cooks aced every part of it, but the staff at this restaurant pulled it off. The food was fantastic!First off, the chicken is the best Ive had in Texas (or ever) to this day. Crispy, well-cleaned, flavorful, and the perfect amount of breading.Everything else was on point. Fries, salad, soup, & cornbread were cooked to perfection. My wife loved her meal too. It was an unbelievable value for the quality of food we received.I also wanted to note that the staff was very friendly and professional. Ill definitely be bringing friends and family back here for dinner.

I ate here for the first time today and it was O.K. You pick up your menu and flatware after entering and find your own seat. We ordered the mushroom burgers and they were O.K. The bun was toasted, which was good, cheese and mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, purple onion and pickles. I couldnt taste any spice on the large thick patty. I had sweet tea and was not asked if I would like a refill (YES I Would)

Due to the virus, they have a short staff. But the woman waiting tables, nursing tables, tending bar and being the hostess was amazing! I wish I had her name to drop here. But kudos to her, she is the best! The food was also really tasty!

The restaurant has a nice name, the womens bathroom was pretty clean and thats where the good stops. You know the saying, If you cant say something good, then say nothing at allBeing from the South, Louisiana to be exact, I expected more but, was disappointed.

They were very pleasant to deal with. We ordered and when it was ready she brought it out to us in the parking lot. We will go back again.

I like the restaurant. We often order takeout but recently had a meal in the restaurant. The place is clean with a nice look - rustic isnt the right word, but hard wood floors, wood furnishing and so forth. I ordered the fried catfish which is really good - definitely one of my favorites. The wife had a grilled salmon that she enjoyed. The sides were good - not necessarily memorable but were good. As any restaurant who claims to be southern, they need to be able to fry things. Ive had the chicken fried steak and chicken as well - all excellent. There is a lot of variety on the menu but still under the genre of comfort food.

Love to come here with my family for weekend breakfast. Such nice, caring employees. They make you feel like you are family. Food is excellent. Made the way you want it.

The service was great and the portions were huge!!!! I had the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, a roll, and baked apples which was amazing. The gravy was perfect it wasn’t too peppery. My boyfriend had the Philly with potatoes and cornbread. The sweet tea was amazing! I will definitely be back
