So helpful, professional and friendly!! My husband and I were on the way through town and they repaired our car quickly and pretty cheap for what they had to do. They got us back on the road, and during our repair Kevin gave us a ride to a nearby restaurant so we didn’t have to pay for a ride, he even pointed out some local points of interest and recommended a couple hotels. They are a great shop!

I cannot say enough about the shop and its owner. On my way to Canada from Philly and car breaks down on a Saturday afternoon. Shops are closed and cant find help. John opened the door (to his closed shop) and gave his expertise and time to solve our problem. Diagnosis and and repairs were done on the spot without an ounce of irritation. John was awesome the whole way through. He spotted the faulty work from a previous mechanic and got the the car running great too. Guys like this are hard to find and if I lived in the Plattsburgh area, I know this is where Id be taking my car every time.

A little background - I’m a young single female and I’m here from out of town. Home is 6 hours away. So when my car broke down I was of course upset, but also concerned my situation would ultimately be taken advantage of. I don’t know anything about cars and I had no one nearby that could help me. John at City Auto was amazing. He communicated with me the whole time. He gave me a quote, but admitted it was high and wanted to keep looking to see if he could find anything less expensive. In the meantime they kept testing my car trying to get firm answers before doing any work. So basically, they originally thought I needed a fuel pump replaced, but after doing more testing and driving my car, John said everything seemed to be fine and I could come pick it up. Truthfully, City Auto could have charged me $1,200 to replace my fuel pump and I would have had to do it to get home and wouldn’t have known the difference. Dealing with a shop that was honest put me at ease and I appreciate that so much. I’ve never had an experience like that when it has come to having any of my cars repaired. I highly recommend them and wish they weren’t 300 miles from home otherwise I’d continue to use and recommend this shop.

This is by far the best shop in Clinton County. The dogs are fun and loveable, staff is helpful and have alot of knowledge which makes any job big or small go very efficiently which means us customers save $$$ !! Thank you John, Kathy, and Brian!

Lost the brakes in my vehicle while getting off the highway in a snow storm. I called and explained my situation. I was close by and hobbled there. I was offered a ride and was sent a text with detailed info. Ended up having to leave my vehicle overnight and was offered a vehicle to drive. THE BEST AT CUSTOMER SERVICE by far. Highly recommend. I am really impressed with the level of professionalism along with how personable their employee (Bobby) was while they worked on my Volvo.Not too many places in Plattsburgh like to work on Volvos, and without any problems, they took my car and repaired it properly and in a very timely manner.What I really appreciated was the amount of communication all throughout the process. Bobby called every step of the way, keeping me informed and gaining my approval for necessary work and parts.I found them to be a little pricey, but the quality was well worth it and my car is running smoothly. Also, I have one more part to put on my car and because the overall cost for all of the work they did (alignment, 2 front tires, motor mount installation and an oil change) was up there, they offered to install the bushings for cost of part only - no labor fees.So, all in all, I am extremely pleased with their services and plan to bring all my vehicles there, exclusively, in the future.

Very friendly. All I needed was air in my tires but they greeted me quickly and had me in and out in less than 10 mins. Plus the German Shepherd is super adorable

They did the work quick but I bought my own part and they wouldnt use it. I had to use their part and they charged 265 for a 110 dollar part. Wont use them again.

C.A.R.S. has become my go to place for any issues with my vehicle. The owners are very friendly and refer to customers by name. The atmosphere of the waiting area is very inviting. On my most recent trip, they were able to get my vehicle in last minute for a diagnosis even though it was a very busy week just after a holiday. They were also able to complete my repairs a day faster than initially estimated. The text service they offer to confirm appointments and let you know when your vehicle is done is also incredibly convenient. Highly recommend!

I am from out of town. I was having a questionable issue with my car. I pulled in without an appointment, they were very busy. However, they immediately checked my car out for me and did so free of charge. I highly recommend this noble establishment.

When I went in to get 4 tires balanced they were very nice to me. Professional, quick, and accommodating! Just got a state inspection and they took me in back to show me that my pads and rotors were shot. Thanks to the good old New York Salt the lubrication that makes the pads release when the brake is depressed was a gonner. Since the pads were just riding against the rotors it killed them prematurely. My dad even complimented them on their honesty. Hard to find good mechanics that you can trust! 👍👳‍♂️

C.A.R.S. provided exceptional service to my Olds Bravada. I went to the previous location and they were no longer there. I thought they had gone out of business. Fast forward, I have another vehicle and was looking for a AAA approved shop and they appeared in the search results. So excited to find they had not gone out of business but had moved locations. I am so glad I found this repair shop! Great job addressing my concerns and getting me back on the road in no time at all. Great customer service and I dont have to worry about being taken advantage of regarding price and service.

Mr John is very honest and helpful guy. He knows exactly what he is doing. I made an appointment and right-away the vehicle has been checked and let me know whats wrong with the car. He gave me an estimation with the parts and labor hours which I feel is very transparent. The car is fixed professionally right on time. couldnt be more happier with the service.

The service was done in a timely fashion and I was pleased with the work done. They were punctual, ready for the appointment, and knew exactly what I needed. They didn’t try to up-sell me or convince me that I needed something else.

This is by far the best garage in town. When something is wrong they dont just tell me, they take me back and personally show me. They also tell me if it should be fixed right away or isnt something that is a threat to driving. They are always so friendly to myself and my children. They have toys, a television and offer free coffee for comfort while waiting. The bathroom is always clean!! For exapample, half hour before closing and I call about a signal light out. They dont huff or ask me to come back another day. He says if Im near by to come on in and theyll fix it right away. They always inform me how long it may take and the price. Again, best service in town.

My boyfriend and I just moved to Plattsburgh, and were looking for a good mechanic for his truck. Brought the truck to this company because of the amazing reviews. They tried to charge him 650+ dollars for a job that another mechanic did for 200. A lower ball joint and a simple weld should not cost 650 dollars. The part was 34.00 and the labor in a “professional” shop shouldn’t exceed 2 hours for a simple lower ball joint. Highly disappointed they tried to take advantage because of our appearance as college students. Stay away if you’re looking for an honest mechanic.

UPDATED REVIEW: I took my car into a dealer a few months ago only to find that the inspection that was performed here was judged poorly and that my car shouldve failed, primarily because the front brake rotors were too rusted. I would not return here for an inspection... Not worth the risk.Had my car inspected in 20 minutes for around $20. It was the only place that would schedule an inspection on a Saturday that I could find, and also the only one that would schedule an appointment sooner than a week.

Went for state inspection and oil and filter change. have never been treated so well. very professional care by staff. felt very comfortable. will continue going there. thank you city auto.
