Great service! The owner, Bill, said he would tune my violin free of charge, saw my strings were metal and not synthetic inner core (for better sound), he gave me a great deal on a new set of strings, re-strung them in front of me, and taught me how to tune better with an iPhone tuner app. Thanks for your help Bill! God bless!
The owner took the time to answer questions & share his wealth of experience with a newbie.
I came looking for a cello bow. I received good information. The owner was willing to work with me in the choice and trial of a bow.
I got my cello from SchwÄn Violins. It has a beautiful sound, and I love it. They have great customer service and wonderful instruments. The shop is really clean and neat and organized.
Knowledgeable. You can find lessons and rental instruments here too.
I am an older gent who is quite impatient with my learning skills. My wife and I decided that Cello lessons would be perfect and we embarked on a 2 hour journey to retrieve said instruments. SchwÄn Violins came highly recommend after doing a few years of research on the subject (Doubting myself while looking at the options). The cost was a tall order for me but I would like to share this very important detail. Learning cello has been a challenge for me and the one thing that kept me going was the quality of this instrument. I am not the nicest guy to my tools and this cello handled my temperament with grace. Not once in 4 years of renting (yes I rented for 4 years because of this) did the cello pegs become loose or the strings slack. Only minor adjustments to the tuning were required and I played this cello at every opportunity. The ability to pick up and play the cello while having a consistent (beautiful) sound was key to keeping me going. I did not have to fuss or worry that this fine instrument would not perform. I did wonder (worry) but that is my way. What worries I had always ended up unfounded. I grew to love that instrument. After doing research beyond my rental I found that similar quality instruments all came in under the same price. The quality is what counts and a lovingly made instrument will help you as much as a great teacher. The ability to pick up and play at a moments notice greatly improves the learning curve.I am a better person for having rented this cello and so could you be.
The violin I purchased has a perfect sound and quality. This is my second violin, and both are exceptional. I traded up the first one I used in 5th grade for a full size one to keep up with learning.
Great experience getting a not so great violin I owned, fixed to hold tune. I was a newbie! However, after interacting with the owner, I found he knows what he is doing and furthermore, does it well. Highly recommended.
I bought a violin here last week with a discount applied from rental credit. The quality of instruments and services was excellent. The owner was knowledgable and helpful. Will definitely come again.
I went to SchwÄn Violins to get the bridge of my cello replaced. Bill was quick and professional and the price was very reasonable. I am very pleased with the result and he even help me point out that my fingerboard might need work, something I didnt notice before. If it does becomes a problem in the future I will return to SchwÄn Violins.
My son rented a half cello for over a year and it has worked out well. Manager is friendly and knowledgeable and we’re happy with the convenience and the selections. Equipment is covered by insurance and readjustments and tuning is included.
Very knowledgeable store owner with inventory to meet our needs for upright bass even though he specializes in violin and cello. We will continue coming back for more!
The boss of SchwÄn Violins has been doing great jobs taking care of my sons violin while having major competitions and concerts since we moved to Tri-Valley 3 years ago. The boss just knew how to make our violin sing beautifully when we changed new bridges. We recently had one of our bows rehaired, we were more than happy playing Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with this bow now which made the sound even more phenomenally. We are very happy to have this string shop in our area.
Ive been a customer of Schwan Violins for the past 8 years. Im very pleased and impressed with their level of expertise and courteous customer service. The Tri-Valley is fortunate to have a skilled luthier that serves the community very well.
Nice little shop located at the south end of Main Street in Downtown Pleasanton. Bill was very pleasant and was able to explain a number of things about the items he had available. Prices are comparable. A great supporter of the Pleasanton community!
Schwan Violins is very conveniently located in downtown Pleasanton for us. We appreciate his kindness towards us and the quality of his products. His prices are comparable to other shops in the area. We are currently renting a violin from him and he allowed my daughter to try multiple selections of German and Austrian violin strings before choosing what she wanted. He seems very patient and willing to work with my daughter to help her choose the suitable violin for her.
We had a fantastic experience at Schwän violin. Great customer service.
Owner is very knowledgeable and fair priced. Good support and service
I visited this luthier to get a pickup installed in my violin. Although not the most typical job, he hit it out of the park. It was a time sensitive job and he handled it very quickly but thoroughly. I will certainly be going back to Schwan violins.
Highly recommend Schwan violins for your string instrument needs, be it for rental, purchase, repair, advice, even to find an oustanding strings teacher - we found ours by recommendation/association with Schwan. Great variety of options for renting, ability to swap up to bigger sizes as my child grew, and also many options for buying, with rental credit applied. A great local shop!
Great customer service and extremely helpful advice.
Bill is a very knowledgeable guy.
