They have a stellar reputation. Understood thats why they were booked out over 3 weeks to look at my trucks manual transmission. Told the story once on the phone, second time in person. Asked if it was primary vehicle and that was probably my mistake to answer truthfully and say no?I called for update at end of the day since this was my understanding. This was Wednesday around 3pm after leaving truck at 830am. He just repeated what I had told him twice without any additional information and said he would work up estimate. Two days later on Friday afternoon after 4pm they left message to call back. On the plus side, they did call back twice Monday morning before 10am. When I returned call, only one employee knew more information and he was on a parts run. The second return call (all calls were before 10am), he was gone again but had left paperwork so I could be told of their estimate of problem and cost. But they would not know for sure until they looked at clutch itself. Made sense but I also wondered why it took two days to make a guess based off the info I had given them and some sort of process that did not include eyes on. And yes, I understand the concept of not being able to guarantee that the problem might be bigger than initially estimated and am willing to give benefit of doubt they must know enough to kind of know without actual eyes on clutch, etc.Anyway, estimate seemed reasonable and I asked them to go ahead and he said he would start work. I wasnt too concerned since I had out of town plans. Surprised I wasnt at least called with update. Trip took a week so I called to find out situation, 15 days after drop off.The original employee I had been dealing with sounded kind of hesitant and said they should get in bay today and hopefully finished before closing.For what they estimated sounded fairly basic for professionals, I guess Im not super happy about questionably being done after 15 days. Not sure how this can possibly go that would change my rating. If their guess is right, only 15 or 16 days to do the lower limits of their service. If they find something wrong when they actually look, not sure when I might get my truck.Anyway, Im not really local (5 years in PA) and dont think my experience is the norm for them, I thought I would at least let it be known that this experience was (and continues to be) far from perfect.

I went in with an 04 jeep Grand Cherokee and expected to do a full transmission rebuild. They diagnosed my vehicle and found that all it needed really was a solenoid. I had my transmission rebuilt just before Scott bought this business and the transmission went out 26 months later again. Scott and Brian were awesome to deal with. Even tho it really was not their responsibility to help me with this issue Scott rebuilt my transmission totally at no cost to me. I was on a road trip and passing through Port Angeles visiting my brother. I started hearing a weird clunking noise that seemed to be transmission related. My brother asked some friends for shop recommendations and was told Tranco. They got me in and diagnosed the issue the same day I called and fixed it up within a couple days before I had to leave town.They charged me a very reasonable fee (less than the original estimate), very friendly, and seemed completely trustworthy. I was totally happy with Tranco and would recommend them without reservation.

I really cant say enough nice things about this shop or its staff; I had a teriffic experience here! They showed great consideration to me as a client and great concern to my beloved truck as their patient. Even though I paid more than I was hoping (the old gal had some major issues; isnt that often the case though?), their cost of repairs came in $1000 less than their competitors estimate (which I just scoffed at) with twice the work completed. My transmission has been slipping and I was dreading taking it in because transmission work is always so expensive, and Im leaving for vacation in a week. I stopped by out of the blue, and the guys did a quick fluid and leak check that determined that i was not going to explode and set me up for a proper appointment a few days later sending me away at NO CHARGE. Today the guys got me in and out for under $100 and they even replaced my burnt out brake light for me! The guys were very friendly, hard working, and funny. Prices were up front and honest. They left my car very clean and its running great. Im back on schedule and in budget for my vacation. Thanks Tranco!!!

I am extremely obsessive about working on my vehicles, I do all of my own work, nobody touches my vehicles, with one exception: Automatic transmissions. I will not mess with the inside of an automatic tranny.Back when I lived in Port Angeles I took an E4OD in and had them work on it, they did such a great job, that they became my transmission shop for as long as they are in business, which judging by their work and customer service, will be a long time. Well now I live in Marysville, so quite a ways away, and needed my 4L60E rebuilt, so I contacted Rick at Tranco Transmissions and let him know the symptoms that my tranny was having, he said that my issues were very common with this particular tranny and that they would be able to get it completely rebuilt within a few days. My wife dropped the tranny off Monday morning, and I received a call from Rick Wednesday at around 4:00 PM saying that my tranny was done and ready to be picked up, which was surprisingly fast. He knew that I lived a couple of hours away, so he even offered to come in on a Saturday and meet me so that I could pick up my transmission, talk about friendly customer service! When we met, he went over all that they had done to my transmission, and since I have quite a few vehicles, I asked him a few questions about other transmissions that I have, Rick really knows his stuff when it comes to transmissions! He gave me some suggestions on each different type of transmission, what to do to prolong its life, he is truly a stand up guy, and is nothing but forthcoming and honest, which I appreciate. Their prices were very fair as well. If you are like me and very skeptical of any and all repair shops, believe me, Tranco will treat you right, and charge you a fair price, and if it helps you sleep any better, I know the head mechanic for the City of Port Angeles, and the city has all of their tranny work done at Tranco, enough said.
