I purchased a used oriental wool rug and took it straight to Silk Road Gallery for cleaning before I even brought it in the house. I am grateful we have a locally owned small business that I could trust to do the job right! The price was entirely reasonable to have that work done, and everyone I interacted with was very knowledgeable and nice. They did such a great job cleaning it, the rug is prettier than I remembered! The gallery is full of amazing rugs, I am looking forward to looking through their selection when Im in the market for my next rug.
Let me start by saying this place has thousands of beautiful rugs and the guys working there were extremely nice and informed. Having said that, the answer to how much is this one? Was always you will have to ask the owner making it less than convenient to purchase a rug without committing a large amount of time going through the piles. I also got the line that these are all hand made which puts an image in the minds eye of small, artisan, craftsmanship from some village somewhere. Seeing the bar coded tags and large lot numbers not removed on some rugs makes me think otherwise. Again, lots of rugs to check out and if you want the owner to regale you with stories, serve you tea, and spend several thousand dollars on a rug, this is the place for you. I just felt like there was a lot of smoke and mirrors going on here and the pricing was based on whim or your ability to pay more with no uniformity. Side note, I say that from a place of being fine purchasing luxury items. Just not when the cost is artificially inflated by a good story line.
We were delighted to work with Moe and Benny on the purchase and care of our 12 X 18 classic and beautiful rug. Moe brought us several to look at, but he already knew which rug would work - and he was so right. (When our friends came in to help move furniture back after the hard wood floor was installed and the rug was laid down, Moe positioned himself to catch the initial reaction of those coming to help. He was delighted with the exclamations and reactions to the rug:-)My family is in the oriental rug business in Boston, so I know how good Moe is. He has a wonderful eye for color, and appropriateness of each carpet. He is easy to work with and really knows his product.Several friends suggested Moe to us as they were so pleased with their transactions with him.Not only dealing in rug purchases, the store does a wonderful job of repairing rugs. Very impressive work. In addition, Moe comes about once a year to turn our rug and to check out its condition! The company also cleans rugs in the traditional manner. We highly recommend Moe and Deb to anyone interested in keeping the wonderful tradition of true, hand woven Oriental rugs alive!
Very helpful. Skillfully clear ac ned my antique rugs. Also observed them re-weaving /repairing rugs-- very well done.
Moe is so knowledgeable about rugs. I have taken 4 to him for cleaning and repair. Without hesitation he was able to tell me what country and village they are from and approximately how old they are. Does a beautiful job with cleaning and repairs and very reasonable. Great service and youll be entertained by his stories!
