As a former employee I know things are different being a customer now. But most the employees don’t even know how to work their hand held battery/alternator tester or know what they are selling. They are slow and don’t offer half the service I was expected to give while I was an employee. I refuse to spend my money here if I can help it. The new store manager tried to give advice about something he knew nothing about. Should have just recommended to see a mechanic.

Nate, the store manager was awesome. He took the time to take care of me and not only that but after I was taken care of he was making sure everyone that was there was helped out, greeted and welcomed. Dude is a grade A manager. Never had a bad experience here.

Very clean Store, Friendly clerks! The clerk I had actually came out to my car and tested different screws to hold on a license plate in the front of my car and he put the license plate on!

They had what I needed.

I was stranded in portales nm. I went in to test my battery and alternator. They sold me an alternator i didnt need. After I installed the alternator I went to go get my charged battery and they shut the store down while charging my battery and never notified me to come get my belongings. I had to call the district manager to have someone return my belongings to me and they never completed my core return transaction and told me that my battery was bad. After being forced to go to oreilys that store told me my battery was never properly charged and that my battery was now either over charged or was never charged at all and had to replace it or wait an additional 2 hours to charge it and test it again. After buying another battery I had oreilys test my alternator which advised me it was a good alternator and there was nothing wrong with it. So now I was forced to buy a battery, I have a switched alternator which I dont need and 600 dollars later Im left with this other alternator that I now have to pay another mechanic to switch back in order to return the new one to the store, or just eat the money I spent, single mom by the way... and I now have to have an exception made because I already put the part on based on what this girls machine was supposedly reading. Is it really worth paying a mechanic to take it off? No because then I pay two mechanics to pretty much do nothing and get paid. So I might as well keep the part on.. when really she was just trying to get me to buy stuff I didnt need.. all I ever needed was a battery which could have taken 2 seconds to switch it...I didnt get home until midnight with my 3 year old because I had to wait 3 hours to get my belongings back and it took 2 hours to switch all the parts and get a ride to the store multiple times... all to find out they didnt do anything they said they would be doing. I was completely lied to and all the district manager did was say Im sorry. No refund, no credit, no assistance for the major inconvenience on their employees part who walked out at the time by the way. They had to have another manager who just got out of the hospital go and get my battery from the store and because of her condition couldnt even pick up my battery. I am utterly disappointed with the service received. I would give zero stars if it was an option. I feel as a company you totally failed me. Thanks for nothing.

To those that dont already know the employees of Auto Zone are very helpful and experienced in troubleshooting automotive problems even if it doesnt result in them making a sell. They have saved me countless dollars with their tool loan program that allowed me to repair my own car rather than having to take it too a repair shop.Thanks Auto Zone!

Scam artists and liars. Tried to tell me I needed a $700 alternator in a brand-new car; turns out I just had a loose ignition wire.

I went to visit Auto Zone because of a battery I had bought at another location about two weeks before today. I went and explained that my car was dying and I had no idea why everything seemed to check out to be ok at first it was a lady who helped me and was really nice and she explained it might be my starter then Edward the store manger here at Portales, NM over heard the conversation and jumped in and helped he was well mannered and helped me out for 45 minutes until we finally got the car running. This man helped me out so much and didnt have to, its easy to say I know why he is the store manger now. Give this man a raise! Edward thank you man, you helped me out a lot you and your whole staff thank you!

Much like all parts stores, they have the generic random parts and hardware you need. The markdown is because I have a Nissan Frontier aka a fairly common truck and they don’t stock common parts. I end up ordering most parts online because I can get them as fast a Autozone can. Fluids and common parts good to go. Less common parts are hit or miss. Staff is always very friendly and helpful. I go here over O’reileys for one good reason, Autozone is closer to my house.

Usually have to wait around to check out because the clerks are being asked technical questions about car repair. Their website is usually pretty good about what they do and do not have in stock.

Unbelievable this is the 4th time order a part prepay tell me it will be in the next day and they cant or better they dont want to find out where it is. Very unprofessional and have to wait there 30 min. to get help..Update ended up getting a holed of the manager and they made things right.
