I just started shopping at the new Target in the Portland Galleria and its a wonderful store! The old store -- in the same building -- was multi-level and this new store (which is right next door to the old store) is one level, which is nice! And as a vegan, who is a total bargain shopper, I really appreciate the selection of foods, and other vegan products, that Target has at such affordable prices! Plus, the Target Circle Rewards program is really rewarding (pun intended), because I save 0.01% every time I shop, which I can use toward a future purchase.

Before this existing remodel, this was a unique go-to Target in downtown Portland. The multi-level galleria was well laid out with multiple varieties of products. Even so, I knew the departments offered less than other Targets in the suburbs, but it was still pretty well stocked. The recent remodel is EXTREMELY disappointing. First of all, I went in looking for children’s clothes and they had completely eliminated children’s clothing options, leaving minimal options for men and women. If anything else, this store has downsized to little more than a glorified CVS. Very sad to lose this iconic go-to. Not a fan of the new micro target approach. Very sad and disappointing.

Need something youre looking for? This location probably doesnt have it.The remodeling took the already limited sized store into a very small target that has very very very little to offer. Especially when there is a literal grocery store less than a mile in either direction. This is now a target that has the bare minimum of anything and its honestly a waste of space. I really miss the old store.

I’m just wondering why at 7:10 PM on a Saturday night and the Target downtown Portland is closed- The website and Google maps clearly states that they close at 8 PM and that’s even the new restricted times because of Covid. I have a few perishable returns and this is a huge inconvenience. It’s always something with this location, usually they are out of the most simple grocery items Or the rampant homelessness and subsequent commotion and smell/health hazards from them. 1/10

I used to use this Target when I lived downtown in 2014 and 2015, and I never had a bad experience back then. Fast forward to 2019, and my experience yesterday was that the place was crawling with transients and homeless, you could barely get in the door due to the groups of people gathered there, and the entire store smelled like urine and feces. I was happy that Id at least called ahead and put my stuff on hold before Id come in - I just needed soap and was thrilled to not have to spend time walking around the place. Of course, after I checked out, I realized that Id been charged $2 more per bar of soap than had been advertised on the Target website (thats 50% more than had been advertised on the website - for an item that wasnt on sale). What?! Ill be taking advantage of Targets price matching policy to get my money refunded, but Ill be doing so at a different location. Unless Im supremely desperate, I dont see myself stepping foot into this Target again. I felt unsafe and was totally grossed out by the smell, which permeated everything.... I didnt want to touch anything while I was there, either. Positively disgusting. I would give this location zero stars if I could. Target management and oversight, where are you, and do you even care about the experience of your paying customers? Appalling.

My review is more regarding the guest services and phone calls. I was trying to reach a specific department and first, that department never picked up. So when it automatically transferred back to guest services there was a young girl named Sheena who hung up on me twice. The first time could have been a mistake, she seemed to not hear me, but after having to call back again and once I asked for the department again she hung up on me instantly. The third time calling I finally had a polite man. I personally dont believe one should be working in guest services if thats how they handle phone calls from someone who wasnt even being impolite.

Truly the most disgusting Target Ive ever been in. Before you even step foot in the front door there are hoards of homeless people camped out asking for money. Once inside theres a strong stench of urine and body odor. The shelves are often empty and picked over. Unkempt. The staff is mediocre at best. Lazy and unmotivated. And whatever you do, DO NOT use their public restroom!!!! I cant even describe the sights youll see in there. Honestly, management should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this store to be run so badly. Although I live only 2 blocks away, I refuse to step inside this Target ever again. There are homeless just laying and sitting inside the store and I can’t figure out why. The employees shouldn’t have to work in these conditions. Other than that, the staff was truly obliging. I do not see why this put doesnt have more stars since the fellow who sold me indeed snared me up with a decent RIF paper sack indeed in spite of the fact that I said I was attending to wear them out of the store! Were from a different state, so maybe I just dont understand how things work in Portland, but this angered me enough to bother coming on here and leaving a negative review for a flipping Target store. My wife and two kids were in town for a wedding. My wife needed to pick up some in-soles for her shoes. While Im standing there with my two kids, my youngest says he needs to pee... like, NOW. I go to the restrooms and they are locked with a code. I assume this is to keep homeless people from using them? I walk up to a cashier and to another employee to ask for the bathroom code and they both tell me, We cant tell you. You have to buy something. I explain, We are buying something, my wife is still shopping for stuff right now. We are paying customers, but if my son doesnt get to the restroom immediately, youre going to have a cleanup on aisle 5. Sorry, they say. Youll have to buy something. So while my son is dancing around trying not to pee his suit that hes about to wear to a wedding, I have to stand in line and buy a friggin Coke so he can take a tinkle. In hindsight, I should have just let him drop trow in the middle of the store and let them mop it up, but something about social norms prevented me from doing this. I get it if youre trying to keep your restrooms from turning into homeless central, but we were literally standing there in suits about to go to a wedding. Absolutely pathetic customer service.

The staff were helpful, the place is clean, there are code pads on the restroom doors since there is a pretty significant homeless population down by the store. There is a Starbucks located on the ground floor if you need to get in and out for a quick caffeine fix.You may have to travel up and down throughout the store as it is multiple levels, however I was able to get in and out rather quickly finding the product I was looking for on the third floor with no problem.

The cashier was awesome. It is like any other Target with a Starbucks. I have an objection to most department stores that sell clothes because they discriminate against larger size women. Over half of the female population is size 14 or above, but you would never know that to walk into a place like this. They have a Plus size section, but they fill it with the clearance stuff from the smaller sizes. They literally had three racks of plus size clothes. Thats it.
