This the best of the best local butcher in the city limits of Portland. The customer service is like no other, they dont just treat you like a number, they always remember me and are fast. The smoked pig ears for my dogs are the go to! Their fr sh made pepperoni sticks are so goooood!!! The meat is very high quality and most of the time beats out grocery store prices! $25 worth of meat wasted. The rest of the meal burned while the meat was still raw. This meat is a joke. Cooked it for 3+ hours and it is STILL raw. I will never be going back there.

The crew at The Original Steer Market are fantastic. Joel helped us order our Christmas ham, along with getting some other great in house made treats, like their beef jerky and pepperoni. They are all very cautious about maintaining the limited number of people they can have in the lobby, and take the extra precautions necessary.

I have been coming here for YEARS! The staff is what makes this place special. Most of the staff have been there for YEARS, which says a lot about a business! I have always been impressed by the customer service Ive received EVERY TIME. I recently bought some meat a couple weeks ago. I was pleased to see they only allow a few people in at a time and have tape to mark the 6 ft. social distance rule outside. Its very stressful shopping now-a-days during this global pandemic. Havent had a true butcher in about 4 years, so I nearly wept for joy upon walking in. Cases upon cases of beautiful cuts of meat. Want something already seasoned or marinated? Theyve got you covered. Want a brisket? Theyll ask if you want the whole thing or the flat. And itll come trimmed and ready to go. These folks know their stuff and the prices appear very competitive.

This spot may just be the best darn butcher in the whole dange world.

Last week I was helped by a young lady. This was her second time helping me ever. I ordered a seven bone roast cut in half so one side had no bone. The lady cut it showing irritation and didnt do what I asked. I told her it wasnt right politely but she told me she wasnt cutting it again and if I didnt like it then dont buy it and leave. I asked to speak to a manager and she very firmly told me she was the manager. I was very embarrassed by this whole exchange. I probably wont be coming back.

I have been going to this meat market for awhile and have never been so disappointed in the customer service or bad attitude that the “manager” had toward my daughter and her friend today.The two of them went into the store and ordered about $45.00 worth of meat and when they were ready to pay the magnetic strip on the food stamp card would not work. My daughter asked them to try and enter it manually because earlier while shopping at Winco she had had the same problem and they refused saying they did not enter cards manually “for one reason or another”. The gentleman I was speaking with could not give me a direct answer or solid reason as to why they would not take the time to do this.My daughter felt pressured and embarrassed and didn’t know what to do because the store was very busy and there were a lot of people waiting to be helped so her friend paid for the meat with a debit card to resolve the issue.I feel the store would have been more than happy to enter a bank debit card manually and because it was a food stamp purchase they chose not to accommodate my daughter. Discriminating against people because they use a food card is wrong and their decision to not make the effort because of that is disappointing.Speaking with the owner today about the situation and his attitude about it was also discouraging. I thought more of the business and it’s integrity and feeling toward the community and it’s customers. I guess I was wrong.There are other meat markets like Gartner’s to shop at.I hope they seek to improve how they treat their loyal customers.

The service was phenomenal, great selection, super knowledgeable staff, got all our meat and dairy for the week for $35. $5.30 per lb pot roast whole organic chicken $9 was a dang good deal! We also grabbed some jerky that Im pretty stoked about. We will be coming back! Would recommend to a friend!!!

I drive all the way from Vancouver to get my meat from this place. The steaks are a bargain and taste great. There cuts are also nice size. Then from some reason I never thought to get my turkey for thanksgiving from them until just today. Will pick it up tomorrow and it will be fresh and not frozen. I bet it will be amazing and only at 1.99 per lb.

Meat they have is good for the most part, but prices are meh and I was upselled German sausages with cheese (they were out of regular german sausages) and I come to find out that the sausages have zero cheese inside. I mean literally (I hate that word) zero, nada. So basically I paid more for no reason. May or may not be back.

I went there yesterday, and a wonderful man named Joel helped me. He went way beyond his job to help me. On all of my purchases he wrote down the temp, and time to cook my meats. He also wrote down recepies to help me out. Joel, you are the BEST! I will see you next month. All the employees there are very kind.

I love this place. The staff is absolutely amazing. This is the only place that I get our beef. I ordered a smoked Turkey for Thanksgiving and was blown away at how delicious it was. My husband and I agree that well never have Turkey any other way again.

So good. Stuffed pork chops are to die for. The meat is wonderful i saved so much money buying this meat than at Fred Meyers or Safeway. The Beef jerky is great to camping and going fishing. I love this place and would not go any where else the staff is Wonderful out going and sweet. The new spicey sweet beef jerky is the best. The stake pack is a steel for what you get and how much you get. Along with the pork pack!!!! all around five stars !!!!!

Thought I had finally found a place to get pork neck for kebabs when the female working there said she could order it for me. After she made a call, she said I had to buy the entire package, 30 lbs, for her to order it. The next day I pick up a box, everything inside is frozen so its hard to see anything. I pay then open and inspect the box more to see that it is filled with pork neck bones. After telling her that I didnt want bones and didnt ask for bones, she shrugs and says their distributors dont sell the meat. These people are not real butchers and I wont be going back.
