After searching for our perfect van for a long time, the final decision was easy when we found ours through Vanlife Northwest. Danny’s massive portfolio of incredible vans imported over the years speaks for itself. His honest, straight forward communication and integrity in his work sealed the deal. Even though he is extremely busy, he has been gracious enough to offer mechanical support and walkthroughs when necessary. We’re very happy to be a part of the community created by stoked van owners. We love our 92 Hiace Super Custom Limited.
For myself, working with Danny and the rest of the Vanlife Northwest crew was a lot of firsts. First time buying sight unseen, first time buying an import, first time waiting for a vehicle to be shipped from anywhere let alone the other side of the Pacific! Each and every step of the way, Danny and his team were there to make the experience as simple and straightforward as possible. The most difficult aspect of this entire purchase was the waiting (Well, that, and explaining to my insurance company why my 1995 van doesnt have a 17 digit VIN. But that worked out with a couple phone calls!). If youre interested in something as special as an imported Japanese van, patience will be one of the first things you become comfortable with!In my particular case, I ended up selecting a beautiful 1995 Toyota Hiace Super Custom Limited. Everything presented to me was how it came. From the initial photos, to picking it up, I dont feel like anything was hidden or altered. Of course with any 25 year old vehicle, there will be compromises but I am more than happy with my purchase and waited several months to post this review just to make sure!Immediately after picking up our Hiace from Vanlife, it made an 11 hour, 700 mile trip with a cumulative elevation gain of just over 4600 feet without a single issue. All the installed extras worked, all the mechanical components worked, everything was road trip ready! Now, Im just over 2 months daily driving a 25 year old, right hand drive, Hiace and I am simply loving each and every moment. If youre considering a Hiace, Danny and his crew will take care of you! Major kudos to Vanlife Northwest and if I can ever convince the significant other that we need another, wed be back in a heartbeat! Thanks again!
Danny and his team delivered an exceptional product. My expectations were surpassed by their level of attention and knowledge. Im now the proud owner of a 1992 Hiace Super Custom and I love it! I just completed a 1,700 mile road trip from Oregon to Yellowstone and back with ease. What a great rig to have fun in! Thanks to Danny and his team for getting the job done right. Pictures of some smaller adventures below.
I purchased my Toyota Hiace Space Cabin two months ago! I LOVE IT! Just right for two people, fun to drive, with thoughtful and attractive cabinetry and details. The bonus is having trustworthy, knowledgeable mechanics nearby if needed!
Check out their website for online auctions when they pop up youre going to find a unique vehicle that you can trust. On those long camping trips.
I purchased a beautiful 1993 Hiace Super Custom Limited in June 2018. The process was very straightforward and easy. Danny is easy to work with and very accommodating. He went above and beyond getting the van into top shape for my drive back to LA and we spent 30-40 minutes going over the details of the van such as how to check all the fluid levels, things to watch out for, maintenance intervals, etc. The trip went off without a hitch and it was very easy to get used to the right hand drive.Over the past year, I have had a few incidents with the van (some my fault, some due to the age of the vehicle, some due to other mechanics) and Danny has always been not only extremely responsive, but also helpful in figuring out the fix, and was able to diagnose a few tricky issues from 1000 miles away! (bad fuel injector, idle surging, black smoke). At this point, I dont trust anyone else to work on this van and plan on making the 18 hour drive next time I need any serious work done because its worth it!If you get one of these vans, you owe it to yourself to have one of the most knowledgable experts at your fingertips when you or another mechanic have questions about how to work on them. Oh yeah, when you buy from Vanlife Northwest, you have support for the life of the van. Im not aware of any other dealers that offer that kind of customer service. For all of the naysayers, yes, he does charge more than others. Yes, you might have bad luck with things breaking/going wrong (its still a 30 year old vehicle...) and I have had my share of problems. Do not buy one of these expecting zero issues, and take time to understand its quirks (like 45mph top speed on hills and watch the temperature gauge), and youll be happy.
I wanted a reliable van that I could go on road trips with and sleep in. Now, I have my dream van and always looking forward to the next trip. Vanlife Northwest. Best dudes. I reached out to Danny by email and got a call back the same night. He ran down how they do things and what kind of time frame I would be looking at (5-7 months). The payment breakdown was straight forward. The van seemed like it was brand new when I got it. A 1993 Toyota Hiace Super Custom Limited Wagon. Excellent condition with only 50,000 miles on it! I took my family on the maiden voyage to Sequoia National Park in California right after I got it in December 2018 and since then I’ve taken it all over Oregon up and down the coast and even up to Glacier National Park in Montana. We love this thing! Its super fun driving on the right side and people always get a kick out of it. I drive it daily and I still get hyped every time I hop in. Stoked I found this place and glad I didn’t buy something off craigslist that might look okay but need a bunch of work. If you’re serious about getting one of these vans, you should go through Vanlife Northwest. What’s also great is you get a down to earth, trustworthy, top-notch team of mechanics out of the deal who know these vans better than anyone out there. Danny and his crew are amazing, and it shows in the work they do. Thankful that this place exists. Check out the website and see for yourself!
If you have been thinking about taking the leap on an imported van, this is the person and the place. I spent a couple years looking around, but once I was referred to Danny and Vanlife Northwest, I found the confidence to jump in with both feet. Dannys experience with Toyota RHD vans and Mitsubishi Delicas is extensive, perhaps the best on the West coast if not across the country. Clients come to him from the other side of the US to purchase and drive home these rigs, and its not just because of his inventory. Danny makes the experience of buying one of these vans personable, reassuring, and lifelong--that is, you dont just come out of it with a van, you also have his expertise and concern to call upon if an unexpected problem or an expected age-related issue arises. Im fortunate to live in Portland, so that I can take my van to him for regular maintenance and upgrades, but both I and others have benefited greatly from Dannys willingness to teach his customers how to be more self-sufficient and understand the needs of their vehicles.Youll likely note that the price point is higher than many other dealers offering these vans, yet those tend to be as-is and without the meticulous inspection, upgrades, and road-readiness that the Vanlife Northwest crew ensures before any of their fleet goes into a new customers hands. You get what you pay for, and with a 25+ year old vehicle, well.. its nice to have those issues fixed before you head out for a 3,000 mile Sunday drive.Im so grateful to Danny and his team for making the addition of this van to my life a decision Ill never regret.
Helpful and knowledgable people, and the best inventory of vans in the area. The owner Danny, and Jamie, were a wealth of knowledge and were very patient with my never-ending questions about the process. I ended up going in a different direction due to my own constraints, but would happily do business with Vanlife Northwest in the future when Im back in the market for a JDM van
Danny is a true professional. When it comes to Japanese imports, he is the most knowledgeable and able individual I have come across. He has more experience with these vehicles than anyone I have spoken to. He is a top-notch mechanic who takes great pride in his work and it truly shows. I purchased a 1991 Toyota Liteace in the Bay Area, and although I didnt purchase it directly from Danny, he has been an invaluable resource for me from day 1. Even before I brought it to him for service, he has made himself available to answer my questions and give me advice. I have the utmost confidence in him and his recommendations. Ever since I got my van back from him, it has been running like a top. I have had several questions about other issues since the work was completed, and he continues to be very responsive. At this point, I dont trust any other mechanics when it comes to maintenance on my van. I will be a lifetime Vanlife Northwest customer, and if youre interested in this type of vehicle, I recommend you do the same.
I am the owner of a 91 TownAce. I was in need of rotors and pads. I asked Danny if he had parts(not a parts dealer or repair shop) and he went out of the way to take my wheel off(no charge), confirm the correct parts, and sell them for reasonable, no up-charge price. He even sourced bearings for me within a day. I was in a pickle, and Vanlife went out of the way to help. Danny even offered advise for the repair. All they were interested in is that my brakes were safe. Good people.
I bought a 1994 Toyota Town Ace with 60k miles on it. I immediately drove it from Portland to Austin to New York. I had zero issues putting in almost 4,000 highway miles right off the bat. Registering the van in New York was a breeze. Ive never spent less time at the DMV. The vans a real head turner and I feel comfortable driving it anywhere.Danny and his guys did a great job of setting everything up. Super happy with the van. Such a clean van. Highly recommend doing business with Vanlife Northwest.
Vanlife Northwest is solid. Danny really loves these vans and it is easy to see that. He owns one himself. The process was fairly simple which I liked. The van we purchased looked brand new and got to Colorado with no issues. That was a huge relief. If you are looking to purchase a van like this and you should then definitely gives these guys a consider. The knowledge you will get from them will help you out when it is needed most.
Danny at Vanlife Northwest has been awesome to deal with. I bought a 1992 Super Custom Limited Toyota Hiace from them last year and they kept my up to speed on how the importing process was going with lots of communication each step of the way. Once the van was state side, they would call me frequently to let me know how the progress of servicing was going and when they expected me to be able to pick it up. If you haven’t imported a car before, you need to understand that it can sometimes take time, as unforeseen issues can arise. Vanlife Northwest had set this expectation with me up front so it was not a surprise when delays occurred. Since getting my van in 2017, I have been having so much fun on weekends traveling all over the Northwest, making constant improvements to my camping setup and enjoying the outdoor adventures the west coast has to offer. I recently took my Hiace back to Vanlife Northwest for annual maintenance which was a seamless experience. If you’re looking for the world’s most reliable engine at an affordable price, then the vans Vanlife Northwest are importing from Japan are just what you are looking. I get asked about my Hiace everywhere I go and have never had an issue. I recently met a guy who own one when leaving in NZ and he mentioned he had never had a problem with his Hiace for the 5 years he had it. Unfortunately, his Westfalia wouldn’t start that morning and had to call AAA. These Toyota’s are capable and reliable rigs—worth every penny.
Wow... with all the people out there trying to rip off others, when it comes to ideas, money, originality, and just about anything... I was terrified to embark on my search for an older van. Until I just happened to stumble across VanLife Northwest on Google -- first glance, it was unlike anything else I had seen so far in my search. I was thoroughly impressed with the presentation and photos on the site, I knew I had to call. I immediately was answered by a gentleman named Danny - who I was a bit nervous to even speak to, given that I was such a novice. But he took an HOUR---- AN HOUR--- on the phone with me, patiently answering my questions and providing me an insane amount of info and security on my decision to purchase. He wasnt trying to force my hand, and even suggested that maybe a van wasnt the best fit for me. But, I am incredibly stubborn and set in my ways, so I went ahead and purchased a few weeks later. Since then, Danny has called me on a few different occasions, checking in on my van and making sure I was aware that I could call anytime with any repairs or concerns. Pleasantly surprised with how easy Danny and his troops made this buying process, and the care shown even after purchasing. I HIGHLY recommend. The uniqueness of this business is unmatched by anyone else. Period.
If you need a car dealer this is the place to go! Good prices, very professional and communicative and friendly as well!
Super honest mechanics. They have been taking good care of me for two years and I don’t know what I would do without them. Thank Danny!
Danny has always been professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and honest since the very beginning. He is an outstanding business owner and a great member of the community. He is always working hard and helping out others in need. You can tell he is genuine and an all around great human from the first time you meet him. His small business has grown into a great operation, and I couldnt be happier to know him and do business with him.
Danny and the Van Life crew are epic to work with. They are incredibly knowledgeable on JDM vans, and have the process of importing and road readying low mileage vans dialed. They make the process of importing your dream whip a breeze, and then go above and beyond by offering their expertise and help down the road with any questions, issues, or modifications you can dream up. If you are looking to import a JDM van, these guys are your guys!
Danny is a great guy who does great work. Although I havent purchased a van through Danny I have leaned on him countless times to help me troubleshoot and fix mechanical issues in the past. I even shadowed him doing work on a customers van for a day and was blown away at how thorough his inspection/rework process is. I definitely wish my import came from someone as thorough.
I love my Toyota Van! Danny at Vanlife Northwest knew my rig inside and out & made sure it was absolutely ready to rock before my purchase. He is a true professional and a living encyclopedia of each of his vans. It is so refreshing to purchase a vehicle from someone who fully understands and loves their work. By far my favorite van purchase. Thanks Danny!
We owned Toyota vans in the past, but NOTHING like the vans Danny imports and restores! When I found his website, I immediately knew my search was over. I worked with Danny narrowing down exactly what we were looking for. He was patient, knowlegable and never got pushy for me to decide. When we decided on our 1992 Town Ace, Danny was great at keeping me in the loop, and when my husband drove into the driveway the first time that I saw it in person, I was ecstatic! Wow! It was BEAUTIFUL! We LOVE our van, and any time we have questions, Danny is prompt with a response. I made this purchase without ever meeting Danny, because I knew I could trust him to get us what we were looking for. NO regrets! And it is a rare occurrence to drive that van without someone stopping us to ask about it! If you’re looking for a Toyota van that comes with extra love, Danny’s your guy!
The practical detail at which these vans are restored is amazing. The mechanical restoration of these classic vans done by Vanlife Northwest is done so well that when I drive in a newly restored van, it feels like Im driving something right off the assembly line; very smooth and dependable feeling. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for, not only a cool looking classic van, but a reliable traveling adventure vehicle that is road ready! Love Vanlife Northwest!
For the last 10 years, I’ve known Danny to approach the things he’s passionate about with care and meticulous attention to detail. He has developed a wealth of knowledge and experience around Japanese vans and pours his heart and soul into his business and his customers. Honest, reliable, direct, and incredibly hard-working, he will take the time to walk you through the finer points and help you find your dream van.
Cool guy diesel 4x4 craziness from Japan
I have watched Vanlife Northwest being built from the ground up over the past 3 years. Danny has truly created a niche for these vehicles in America, and as such is the foremost expert on the acquisition, maintenance and improvement of these vintage vans. This is a true example of turning a passion into a career. In addition, his work ethic is second to none, as I learned firsthand when purchasing a van from him 3 years ago. Through my connection with Danny I also joined a community of like-minded van adventurers, and you cant place a value on that!
What a fantastic anomaly of an experience that keeps on going in the most positive manner!!!From the initial meeting, with a firm hand shake and great eye contact, through the purchase of our dream vehicle-when Danny offered and made custom adjustments at no additional cost, and even after the purchase-Danny has patiently walked me through changing the oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, and is available for any other maintenance to come-Danny has been professional, full of integrity, knowledgeable, dependable, punctual, down to Earth, relational, kind, comical, and extremely helpful. This man and the men of his shop represent the epitome of excellent business because the impetus of this business is the love of what they do, as well as being able to gift their talents to another so they too can enjoy the marvelous nature of these unique and highly functional/dependable vehicles that are being hand picked and imported.I cannot give a higher recommendation to any other business in mind that ranks higher in quality of product, quality of customer service, and quality of human being. If you want to know what you are getting, be spoken to directly with truthful words, and be treated with importance and kindness, this is the shop for you. If you are looking for some of the most amazing vehicles our world has to offer, this is also a place to investigate your curiosities.I have never been happier with a business relationship than the way I am with Danny and the crew at Vanlife Northwest. I have also never been more excited or felt more pride than I currently do owning the van I purchased from Danny. His pride in work ethic, design, creativity, and a job well done has rubbed off on me. I care after this pristine vehicle in a way that I have never cared for a vehicle before. The Hiace Super Custom Limited that I get to drive now even gathers attention everywhere I go because it is such a beautiful vehicle.A million thanks to Danny and his team! Through this connection I know I have a quality relationship that will last, and also now a wonderful friendship. I also know I can call on Danny for anything related to the van and I will be helped in a timely manner. I am so appreciative for how much time, energy, and effort Danny has already put into all things related to the van. It’s like I’m calling on a friend to help me out, meaning that he is sincere with wanting to help. This truly sets him apart.Thank you for this unparalleled experience on so many levels!!!I’m in love with the woman of my dreams and now get to adventure through life with her in the ultimate travel van of our dreams. Life has been upgraded because of Vanlife Northwest! We already have so many phenomenal memories in this van and we have just begun! I’m full of joy knowing how many more peak experiences there are to come in this one of a kind touring vehicle. With gratitude...Fritz Tramonte
Proud owner of a 93’ Toyota Hiace Super GL!!! My wife and I got our van last November and love it more and more every day. Every time I park it I get asked questions or get a “killer van dude”, something to that effect! The van it self has more than exceeded our expectations. We’ve driven it from Portland to Ashland as well as out to Boise and back and have had no issues, it’s also my daily driver. We have taken it on multiple 4x4 adventures. From sand dunes out at the beach to a Vanlife Northwest hosted 4wd Japanese van run in the snow! Our van has more than exceeded our adventure capability expectations! Danny and the guys at Vanlife Northwest have been great to get to know and were extremely helpful and knowledgeable through the entire process. We had a few extra things done in the build of the van. We had Danny cut a hole in the roof and install a Maxxair fan as well as an auxiliary battery and diesel heater. All of these things were done professionally, looking and working perfectly! Danny is a deep well off knowledge around any and all things surrounding these vans and has been more than a helpful resource with any questions before and after ownership of our van. Confidently looking forward to our next adventure!!! 🚐💨
I bought a Toyota Hiace from danny over three years ago. It has been the best investment ive made in a vehicle. Danny had serviced and ready to go the day I got it. I built it out drove it to Canada, then to Mexico, Colorado, and back to Oregon. The only problems ive encountered with the van have been from my heavy use of the vehicle. When Ive needed help Danny and the Vanlife Northwest team have been amazing. Helping me repair the vehicle or find parts. This van is currently the delivery vehicle for my business and I feel confident in its reliability, I also love driving it and taking it on long adventures. I highly recommend finding your next rig with Vanlife Northwest. You will be stoked!
I bought a Toyota Hiace Super-Custom from them and have loved it! It is an 89 and still runs great. Danny is awesome to work with and has made himself available for when I am in need of advice for the van.
I can’t recommend Danny @ vanlife northwest enough. He’s a stand up guy, very communicative and honest. He found the perfect rig for me and did a meticulous upgrade when it first arrived. He helps me with every question I have even now, a year later. I drive my van every day for work, it’s bulletproof and totally exceeded my expectations.
I was considering buying a van from Danny, and he was so helpful running me through all of the options and figuring out what would be best for me. In the end, he recommended I go with a different type of vehicle, which just shows he really cares about his customers and their interests. Hes friendly, responsive and deeply knowledgable. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a dope van or van repairs, whether youre an expert or a novice.
Vanlife Northwest is the real deal. If you are in the market for a high quality, truly unique vehicle contact them and talk to Danny. You talk to him for 5 minutes and you know he truly cares about his product. He goes over these things with a fine toothed comb. Really down to earth and doesnt try to pitch you anything. Just get used to driving on the the wrong side of the van!
If your looking to get into a jdm van there really is no reason to go elsewhere. Danny knows the ins and outs of every aspect of purchasing owning and maintaining these vans. He will help you not only find the right van to suit your needs but also help you keep it travel ready for decadesTo come.
These guys import the best vans and are so nice. Yay for Vanlife Northwest!
Danny and his team are the X factor. When I was referred to Vanlife northwest, I initially balked at the difference in price between their vans and craigslist or other importers. As I met Danny and saw his in depth, systematic approach to updating all his vans to the 21st century, I was convinced. Couldn’t put my finger on it at first, but then I realized he was the X factor. The variable that makes the product always work. My delica ended up being a bit of a problem child, with several issues arising that no one could have predicted. Each time, danny took care of the issue without question and helped the hang up be a minimal issue. He is committed to professionalism, his product, and generating a culture around his van community. We just had a blast on Sunday with 12 of his vans off-roading in the mountain, all coordinated by danny.
I have purchased two vehicles from Danny and had the vehicles serviced at his shop. great communication. easy to work with and knowledgable. strongly recommend.
I purchased a van from Danny at the end of 2016. I still have it now and adore it every day. I bought it with 30k miles in pristine condition thanks to Dannys careful curation. Ive traveled the west in it and it is my daily driver. Its dependable and a joy to own. When buying a van from Vanlife northwest you not only get a conversation starting vehicle, but also get Danny as a resource and reference for maintainance and questions. Im sure Ill buy another van from him when I upgrade.
I had the pleasure of working with Danny on some modifications to my van. This guy knows his stuff when it comes to the rigs, not to mention customer service and just plain heart. My next purchase will be through Vanlife Northwest and he has my full recommendations.
Bought a van from Danny two years ago - he was quick to respond, very knowledgeable, professional, and made my family and I feel very comfortable in our purchase of our first family adventuring vehicle. I am 100% satisfied with the van, my interaction with Danny, and all the amazing places Ive gone thanks to Vanlife Northwest since.
The first time I met the owner of Vanlife Northwest I had just limped back into North Portland in my 87 Toyota Van. I was new to owning the rig and my van was dumping fluid everywhere. I had the hood popped and was looking to find where it was coming from when I heard someone say, Hey man, do you need a hand?. Turning around I saw Danny, and over his shoulder I saw him walking from a gorgeous baby blue Toyota Van. I explained that I had no idea what I was doing and he got in to take a look. After assessing things he told me to come by the next morning and hed see about getting me back up and running. I brought my van by and within 45 minutes of pulling in I was pulling out of the driveway with my van running like a dream. Since that day a few years ago I wouldnt trust anyone else to so much as change a headlight on my van. The confidence and comfort I get after Danny has done any work on my van is something I rarely experience when dealing with soliciting services of really any kind. The prices are extremely fair, the folks are super sociable, and truly have a passion for the work they do. The only thing bigger than the smile on my face when I leave VLNW is the smile on theirs, knowing they are continuing to keep these cool little space cruisers around to time travel another day.
Great buying experience. I had tons of questions about these vans and Danny was patient and responsive. The 1992 TownAce I purchased had low mileage and was in great condition. When the belts began squealing a few months in, Danny tightened them for me - no charge! The true test was a 3,000 mile road trip through Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Idaho and back. The van performed top notch. Post-purchase support has been excellent. Danny really loves these vans; his knowledge and help is a huge reason to buy a JDM vehicle through Vanlife Northwest.
Danny is awesome. These guys love what they do and live it.
Danny/vanlifeNW is seriously one of most competent technicians I’ve met in any industry at all, he’s a gift! Love him. Catalog memory of parts & theory of operation, exceptional quality of work, easy going, & to top it off he’s super nice. He helped me with a disintegrated brake caliper when I was up there once, and also helped me with a snapped belt over the phone a year later - super cool cucumber and I look forward to my 87 van breakdown so he can help me again!! Thanks Danny 🤙
Danny is a straight shooter. Hes a specialist and I trust his expertise in Delicas and Toyotas-I havent (and wouldnt) go anywhere else!
After doing a lot of research, we ended up purchasing a ‘92 Toyota HiAce from Danny and I couldn’t be more happy with our decision. Danny is not only an excellant mechanic, but he’s an expert the vans he imports. He was very detailed in his inspection of our van and completed any repairs needed while also doing preventive work. Throughout the process Danny answered all of our questions, communicated in a timely manner and most importantly was extremely direct and honest. This was a big purchase for us and throughout the entire experience I trusted that we were in good hands.Danny has continued to be a resource for us while owning our new van and has always been willing to share his knowledge. It’s obvious that Danny is extremely passionate about the work he does and about building a community around Japanese vans.If you’re looking for both a cool and reliable van, I highly recommend Vanlife Northwest. You won’t find a company that cares more about their customers.
Exepctional work! Not only amazing photos, mechanical knowledge, and attention to detail, but also willing to educate and communicate kindly to customers. Would 1000% recommend this business to anyone looking to get into the #vanlife. ❤️
Danny is the van master, incredible attention to detail on selling/restoring these classic Japanese vans. If you’re looking to buy or need service on your JDM vans, look no further. Helped me with my Delica L300 countless times and is my go to for van advice.
It was quite by accident that I found Danny and Vanlife NW. My husband and I have been Previa owners for years but needed a larger van for my dog competitions. We were extremely impressed with Danny, his knowledge, vehicle choices and willingness to let us ease into the idea of a right-handed steering van--he even let us practice before purchasing! I love our HiAce van--it is immaculate for a 91 but the 3 sun roofs make it perfect for dogs! Danny personally performed the required maintenance, lifted the carriage, new tires etc. but he compulsively oversaw the repair of a dent in the roof that occurred during a careless moment when the van was on a car lift at another shop for detailing. He made sure that the body work was acceptable and cost not passed on to us. He made available to me a complete comparable part list for the van for my local mechanic to have on hand for common maintenance items. Danny has also been my guardian angel for emergency road calls while driving across county from Portland, Oregon to Springfield, MA. I encountered some fuse and air conditioning issues that Danny was able to talk me through over the phone. His calm, easy-going manner got me through a very stressful situation while on the road! Owning one of Vanlife NW vans is really a life changing thing! One cannot drive into a parking lot, garage, business, store, park, gas station or some times, stop light without someone stopping me to ask about the van. I have met some really wonderful people who want to know all about the van and where I bought it. Hopefully, Danny and Vanlife Northwest are getting my referrals! Danny is a wonderful mechanic, business man and the vans are delightful. I am so proud to drive one of these unusual vans!Martha Schostal
First off I think it’s safe to say Danny is the USA authority on Toyota vans both jdm and domestic. Danny helped me out endlessly on my Toyota Van. He got it restored to the point where I could confidently take it on an epic 4 month tour of the US. Thousands of highway miles and even some challenging four wheel sections and my 4wd le van handled everything with ease. When I had any questions Danny was available to help me and even talked through some things over the phone. Danny’s legend proceeds him and all of my van friends I’ve met on my way have vouched for his helpfulness and knowledge base of the sometimes enigmatic Toyota Van. All in all if you’re thinking about getting into that Vanlife you gotta check out what Danny has to offer. Some real gems that you won’t find anywhere else.
Best in the biz! When trying to get into the vanlife, all lead to Vanlife Northwest, and with good reason! My van is the talk of everywhere I go, and Ill be going for a great long while due to the expert restoration on behalf of VLNW - I also take comfort knowing that if I ever have problems theyll be there to solve them fast and affordably. In an era fakes, snakes, stepped-on-rakes, and unfair shakes - Vanlife Northwest is the truth, search no further. God Bless.
Shady dude. Overcharges for pretty much everything. Will try to up sell you his vans and his service. Charged me for a lift which he never performed, only slapped new tires on.
Danny did a lot of work to get my Toyota HiAce Super Custom road trip ready and I was happy to pick up the van from someone with the expertise and care to really dial it in. I took the train down from Seattle and Danny was very helpful over the phone in answering my questions before I made the trip. The website and video walkthrough of the van really helped me get a good idea of what I was purchasing before heading down. I love driving this beast around, the diesel engine runs great, the ride is smooth, and people are generally stoked to see a JDM van on the road. It is super fun. I am completely satisfied with my purchase and I am looking forward to many river and beach trips in my HiAce. Thanks again yall!
Overpriced, dishonest, and very poor communication. Vanlife Northwest AKA Danny Hellevig one man shop, avoid this character.
Danny is good people.
Spoke to Danny regarding a van, he was super unfriendly, and very quip with me. I asked him several questions and he seemed to get very defensive with his answers. Friend of mine bought a van from Danny as well which has caused him nothing but problems. Danny also charges an arm and a leg for any services.
Such a sweet place!
