I had never been to an eye doctor before my visit to Spectacle and I am so glad I finally did! I did the online check-in/registration so checking in with the friendly front desk gal was a breeze. Then the tech Addie took me back for the screening tests. She was very friendly, knowledgeable and explained what each test was for. Then I got to meet Dr. OHalloran and she was so informative, answered all my questions and helped me with some dry eye prevention. I also needed glasses but never knew it. Then it was out to meet with the eye glass/insurance specialist Gustavo. He was so sweet and got me fitted and helped me with the perfect frames so expeditiously. My overall experience here was a 10/10! Thanks so much Spectacle for being a great resource for all things eye health!

Every visit Ive made to Spectacle has been a joy, much to the credit of the staff. Appointments have always been quick and punctual, and any questions I have are answered thoroughly. The office is rather small but well thought-out, clean, and professional. If you have any glasses or contact related needs I would definitely recommend choosing Spectacle.

I happened upon Spectacle NW on a semi-annual trip to Portland and was doing a little window shopping between meetings. The shop was empty and between appointments; Gustavo waved and invited me in. After wearing glasses for my whole life, my home ophthalmologist had just declared me 20:20 which left me with a bag full of Rx driving, cycling, and sunglasses and not a pair to wear. Gustavo marched over to a display case, opened a drawer, and handed me the Perfect Pair of Maui Jim sunglasses. Just then the next client arrived for his appointment so I did not stay, but Gustavo jotted down the glasses’ model information for me.The entire exchange took maybe 5 minutes but Gustavo’s welcome, kind assistance, and amazing eye for picking the perfect frame made me an instant fan of this shop. And a customer, too. (Since I no longer need Rx glasses, I was able to purchase these the next day.) Wonderful experience!

I had a great first-time experience here. Everyone was so kind and friendly I really felt taken care of and listened to. My Dr. was funny and sweet and easy to understand. I loved the way she explained things to me.Gustavo ( the classy gentleman who helped me pick frames) was so positive and helped me through some self confidence issues getting my first pair of glasses. Hes a real gem! I for sure want to stick with this place!

I went to Spectacle NW for the first time a few weeks ago, and I had a great experience. I showed up to my appointment a few minutes early and they were able to see me right away! Damara, the technician, was so friendly and the equipment was sanitized between each use. Dr. OSaurus saw me for my appointment and she was fantastic. She was very thorough and talked through steps on alleviating my seasonal dry eye. I was very impressed with everyone at Spectacle, and I will definitely be returning.

Spectacle is awesome. We have been using them for exams the last few years and purchase contact lenses through them. Jessica and Corrine are always so nice when we call, and sometimes help us out with trials if I’m a dingus and forget to reorder before I run out! They also have hella cool glasses.

Everyone here was SUPER nice and very knowledgeable. I met with Dr. OHalloran and she taught me things about my eyes that Ive never been told at any other eye appointment. The entire place is very professional, and the frames are stylish too!

This is the GREATEST place ever. I would recommend this establishment to anybody who is looking for quality care, down to earth doctors and badass frames. Getting my eyes worked on is one of my phobias and Dr. OSaurus created an environment that allowed me to relax and enjoy my time in the chair. She was wonderful to converse with and she made me feel like she genuinely cared about my eye health. I would also like to give a shout out to Kirsten who helped me find the perfect pairs (thats right, plural) of glasses!!! Everyone there is so helpful and nice.

I had the best eye appointment experience I have ever had here. They took COVID precautions seriously, and I felt safe with their team. They sanitized lenses, had hand sanitizer available, and had me schedule an appointment to pick up my lenses (which means they are regulating how many people are in the building at a time). They had some different eye tests than I am used to which I found beneficial. The optometrist pointed out some issues which I was not aware of and suggested preventative care options to help! I loved the easy take home sheet and got to work with her suggestions. Then, I was ready to buy frames. The lady who assisted me was SO friendly and helpful. I pulled a few options and then asked her to pick some, and her options were much better than my picks. I wish I remembered her name, but she was wonderful to work with! I found a cute pair of frames and they gave me a discount to get my other lenses replaced (which is what I planned to do originally). Everything was a little more expensive than I have had in the past, but it was absolutely worth it. I value customer service a lot, and they will have my business for a while! Can’t wait to go back to get my eyes checked out and to shop for a pair of frames outside of COVID. I highly encourage Spectacle if you enjoy people who know what they’re doing!

I really do love Spectacle. This is my second year having my vision exam and contacts fitted at Spectacle. Dr. Ngo is amazingly patient and so friendly. She takes the time we need to get my rx right each visit. I cant imagine going anywhere else.

Nice place! Airy and clean! As I walked in I was greeted with warm hellos and a feeling of inclusion. This staff took excellent care of me. They made me as comfortable as possible and even offered me an assortment of beverages.They have state of the art equipment and explained each process in detail. Every question I had was happily and thoroughly answered in plain English.My exam was thorough and well documented even showing me the recorded results along with full explanation of the chart notes. I didnt even have to ask for a copy of my prescription, it was part of my receipt package.As I left, the door was held open for me and since Im disabled was a very nice change to how most places deal with folks like me.I highly recommend Spectacle to anyone needing glasses and/or contacts!Make your appointment now! Open by appointment only now. I didn’t realize this and just stopped to get quick adjustment. No one in the store except for 2 or 3 employees. The refused to allow me to make an on-the-spot appointment. Very poor customer service.

I really can’t say enough good things about this place. I regret not getting my eyes checked at Spectacle sooner. Dr. Anderson is very kind and knowledgeable. The eye exam was extremely thorough and he immediately knew what was wrong with my eyes (something a lot of other doctors failed to see). I’m so incredibly happy with my new glasses! This may sound like an exaggeration, but they really have been life changing. My eyes haven’t felt this comfortable in a long time.The frame selection is SO good - all of the frames are beautiful. The opticians are just as amazing as the doctors. They truly help find the best frames for you and their customer service is probably the best that I have ever encountered in Portland. I have really bad eyesight so I am always pretty apprehensive about seeing a new optometrist. I loved my experience at spectacle. I felt welcomed and safe as soon as I walked in (shout out to korin) I loved how thorough my exam was with Dr. Swihart he really took his time with me to make sure I was comfortable with my prescription. After the exam, Jessica who was so friendly helped me pick out my dream frame. Overall, I love this place and I hope to see them for many years moving forward.

Had a hard time getting my prescription correct with my previous eye doctor, called Spectacle and the optician I talked to immediately started to relieve my stress by trying to find the cause of the problem rather than telling me to throw money at it. I did end up making a full appointment, but it was worth it a few weeks later and I can see much better and my eyes don’t hurt anymore.

I went in to look at new frames because my friend recommended it. Everyone was so helpful and nice and attentive. Very friendly atmosphere and very good selection of frames. Though I didnt buy any glasses that day, I am definitely going back this summer when my insurance will pay for another pair. Highly recommend!!

I’ve been a patient at more than 6 different optometrist offices and this one is by far the best. Genuine hospitality, excellent organization, efficient process, and pleasant ambience. Dr. Ngo and her ancillary staff were fantastic on all levels.

This is one of those most patient centered medical offices that I have ever been to. The time that everyone has taken with me over the past few years is astounding. Dr. Schmitt is very personable and spends quality time with you. I also really appreciate the staff that helps pick out glasses. Sarah was extremely helpful with me last time. I can’t recommend this place more. With two locations it has become even more accessible.

Been going to this optometrist for about 4 years now and have had a good experience during every visit. The staff makes it easy and comfortable to receive good eye care. First pair of glasses from here, I happened to win for free from one of their photo contests, which was awesome. I managed to end up snapping that pair of glasses, but they were quick to help me get them fixed and good as new again! I’m on my second pair from here now and kudos to Elora for having an eye for style and helping me pick out a pair of glasses that I wouldn’t normally go for, but ended up loving!! Can’t wait for my next visit.

I needed to find a new eye doctor after moving to a new neighborhood and Spectacle came highly recommended. They were able to get me an appointment really quickly, and Dr. Anderson was super friendly and knowledgable. Spectacle has the fanciest, most modern eye tests and equipment Ive ever seen–made me think about what my previous eye doctors were missing out on! Megan was also especially helpful--she expertly handled my confusing insurance situation, helped me order contact lenses, price-matched them to Costco and had them shipped to my house for free! All in all an excellent experience!

Update: They actually contacted me and managed to fit me in after I missed my appointment. Very nice!Ill admit that I am the idiot here. Ill update after I have my appointment, but Im a little miffed about missing my appointment.Every other place I have ever gone has a text-notification 24 hours before my appointment clarifying date and time. I made this appointment over a month ago and the time warped from 3:30 to 4:30 in my head.Additionally, I work basically next door. They did not bother to call me until 30 minutes after my appointment and I had already completely missed it. What were they doing in the mean time?The only form of reminder or notification I received was a text message a week before my appointment. No email or anything like that.

Dr. Schmitt and the entire team of professionals at Spectacle in NW Portland are truly fantastic. The environs are modern and clean, the staff are professional and astute, Dr. Schmitt is affable, funny, and truly the most detail-oriented, informed, thoughtful optometrists Ive ever worked with. Spectacle is a GREAT optometry practice. Elora Faye was so helpful during the preliminary exam. She was able to explain all of the different tests and answer all of my questions. She has a great attitude and was very helpful from the time that I walked in, until we chose frames.Dr. Schmitt was extremely thorough in explaining my results, what he saw, potential future issues to watch for, etc. He made some great recommendations and I was able to receive the best customer service that I have received from an optometrist.Their office also has some very cool art - be watching for the hidden meanings.

Dr. Schmitt, one of their Optometrists, is an outstanding provider- he is hilarious, intelligent, kind and caring. What an awesome experience coming to spectacle!Ive been wearing glasses since I was 16 and Ive gone to many different places for glasses and Spectacle has been by far the best place Ive been to.The staff is really great; theyre friendly, knowledgeable, easy to talk to and very understanding. Elora made the process of buying my frames so easy I almost forgot I even bought them! It was that quick and painless.You can tell that they really care about the quality of their work. All of the equipment is very clean and up to date, the displays are kept very nice and neat as well, and its surrounded by windows that lets in a lot of natural light. Dr. Ngo was really nice and she seemed very experienced and comfortable with what she does. She answered all my questions and even gave me information about my eyes I didnt know before. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a new optometrist .Ill be coming back to get some prescription sunglasses soon!

Great check in service, and very easily confirmed they would take my insurance as a new patient. Had the most futuristic eye testing I’d ever seen (makes me realize how little my pervious doctor could even test for) and explained every test to me. Was able to get a refill on contacts for a really low price in the end!

The eye exam was incredibly thorough but well described by Dr. Ngo so I understood how my eyes are doing. There is an incredible selection of frames and the optician Elora Faye helped me with narrowing down which frames would work best for me. When picking up my glasses James was very helpful in teaching me about how to keep my glasses in tip top shape with proper cleaning techniques. On top of everything else Spectacle has private parking which made going there incredibly easy. Overall I was more than satisfied with my experiences there and plan on going again when I need to replace my backup pair.

Everyone at Spectacle is friendly and wonderful. Call me crazy but sometimes I walk in there just to say hi. They have a great selection of glasses and doing my exams there felt like going to a spa.

I have the highest patient satisfaction for the team here, including not only the Optometrists but also their supporting staff. They go above and beyond, including Dr. Anderson answering email questions from me and personally making calls to help me figure out next steps. I am extremely satisfied with my experience at Spectacle, and have been for years. They are AWESOME!

The customer service here is fantastic!The diagnostic tests they run during a basic eye exam is beyond basic. Cutting edge.When I come in they give me cloths to wipe my glasses., water etc.I was able to get a prescription for my over the counter eye drops so now I can use my HSA .Ask them to deep clean your glasses, it’s fantastic.

Ive been coming here for the past three years and cant say enough good things about what a positive experience Ive consistently had. Dr Schmitt is fabulous, both as a down-to-earth doctor and with making you feel at ease, and the rest of the staff is just as pleasant and personable. Theyll walk you through your insurance, are upfront about pricing, and are always friendly and professional. And today, they were running just a few minutes behind schedule, so they gave me a gift card to go next door for a coffee while I waited. Such a nice touch, so thoughtful, and it was entirely unexpected. Great people and great service!

The best experience Ive ever had during an eye exam. Multiple eye tests that Ive never had done that revealed important aspects of my eye health that I wasnt aware of. Everyone I encountered was very friendly and knowledgeable.

I always avoided getting glasses because I thought i wouldnt like the look. But when my poor vision led to some poor choices I knew I had to change something. I met Dr Anderson at Spectacle and he was really informative. He Explained concepts to me I didnt know existed. All of the online research I did was nothing compared to the personal consultation I received. Gustavo found a pair of glasses that complimented my features in the most subtle ways. Most people didnt notice my glasses but treated me differently. When I told them, they thought I was always wearing them. Like they should have always been apart of me.If youre curious about this step in your life I wouldnt hesitate. My only regret is that I didnt visit this place earlier. They have a customer for life.

I must say, this is by far the nicest vision staff Ive ever encountered. My boyfriend was in need of some emergency lenses on a busy Saturday here in portland (we are just visiting the city) and out of the many establishments contacted, they pulled through and totally honored our request. 🙌 My boyfriend being the driver was floored by the service and thanks to them he will be able to safely commute for the rest of our stay. Old school is not what you want when it comes to health care.Spectacle excels at bringing the best cutting edge tools to the job. If your doctor is not investing in their practice like Spectacle is, then your not getting the best care possible and the consequences could be regrettable.On top of that, I have never experienced a doctor more willing to the spend time informing and educating me as well as Dr. Schmitt. The quality (and quantity) of care here is truly amazing. After three years as a patient, I’ve never been let down.The optometrist are also top-notch professionals who work overtime to help meet your needs. I have never been more impressed with any medical practice as this.

I had an amazing experience with Spectacle both during my eye appointment with Dr. Anderson and working with Jessica to look at frames.I moved to Portland from the east coast 3 months ago and am in the process of finding all new doctors - Dr. Anderson made the transition so much easier with his kind + calm nature. He explained everything throughout the appointment and even had some fancy tool that eliminated the need for blowing air into my eyes (yes!) I will definitely be back to see him when its time to update my prescription.The office and showroom are a great space - very bright, clean, modern and comfortable. Jessica was awesome to work with and so helpful in working out costs and insurance information. She was also super knowledgable/honest about frames that werent the best look for my face. What can I even begin to stay about Spectacle. I have been coming here since they opened and Ill never go anywhere else. They have the best of the best equipment for testing your eyes (Pain free). The coolest & cleanest offices. (Seriously the place is so cute & trendy) The staff is a dream team and Dr. Schmitt, Hector, Elora are amazing! You will have zero regrets making this place your regular go to eye clinic.

I went to Spectacle for an annual appointment, eyeglasses, and a follow up appointment. Every single time Dr. Ngo and the crew here were so friendly and could not have been more helpful. It was truly a great experience and Im sure I will be back.I ended up with a pair of Monoqool frames although they have a great selection of brands I dont see often: Monoqool, Ditta, Raen, etc

I was extremely impressed. Ive been shopping around for a new eye place and decided to just walk in and see what it was like. Even with no appointment, or promise of an appointment, the cheery woman at the front desk Megan was extremely friendly and helped me out and answer my questions. Historically, other optical offices have been ridiculously pushy when I try to talk to them and would ask me to schedule an appointment over and over instead of answer my questions, but Megan was nothing but extremely helpful and delightful.Even without the promise of a future appointment, she referred me to an optician named James, who answered even more of my questions. Ive got some tricky issues that make finding glasses that work for me really difficult, but James helped me navigate those issues and took a lot of time out to help me find frames that Im actually excited to try out. Still even without scheduling an appointment, Megan went out of her way and made a file for me and marked down all the frames I was interested in.In short: Ive found my new vision care center. Me and my poor, dry eyes are excited to come back for my yearly exams and for my glasses and contacts needs.

Went to Spectacle for my first pair of glasses in years. The staff was extremely helpful, especially Kirsten, who helped me pick out the perfect frames!

Modern, clean and professional. They have a great selection of glasses to pick from, and really friendly staff to help you! The only slightly negative thing I would say is I was told 5-7 days for my glasses when its more like 3 weeks.

I have been going to Dr. Schmidt for a couple of years now. I am impressed with the time he takes to explain things, the state of the art equipment, and the friendly staff. He made a referral for cataract surgery that was very competent.

I went to Spectacle because I was in need of a new pair of glasses. I was helped by Elora and she gave great customer service! I told her what type of glasses I was looking for and she gave me a whole bunch of options to choose from. Even ones that I wouldnt have thought of! I left with a pair of shnazzy glasses that I love and will definitely be back when its time for a new pair :)

Super friendly staff. Pretty spendy but seemingly high quality with great service. If you have the budget and are looking for something a little different, theyre definitely your place! I was shown mid range frames which were almost 400, so be ready to spend!

I cant say enough good things about Spectacle. The shop is clean, modern, and elegant. The staff are wonderfully knowledgeable and friendly. The equipment is incredibly high tech - and how exciting that theres no more air puff test! Dr. Schmitt is a hoot and had me laughing the entire exam. They even have a program that allows you to nominate someone for a free exam and glasses! Where have they been all my life?? Im actually looking forward to my next exam :)

I had such an amazing experience at Spectacle! The store is beautifully designed and they have a great selection of glasses. The staff are all very helpful and patient with indecisive customers like myself! I also had a great experience during my eye exam with Dr. Schmitt. He was very friendly, answered all of my questions, and even taught me some medical information about the eyes. I would definitely recommend Spectacle to everyone!

I was nominated for a free eye exam and glasses, and throughout the entire experience I was treated with the warmest, kindest service from the staff and eye doctor. A month ago, I was hardly seeing with my old glasses and no insurance or extra money for a new pair. Thanks to Spectacle, I am now seeing clearly with my new glasses!The program they offer thru SHARE helps people and i could not be more pleased with how wonderful I was treated on both visits . My insurance plans changed, so I had to switch optometrists--but Im happy that I did! Dr. Ngo was really great, and Spectacle has more of the newer imaging machines for pre-exams. Spectacle also has a great selection of modern-looking frames--and while I tend to go for pretty eccentric-looking glasses, which isnt necessarily their niche, they managed to pull enough of them that I found a pair I really liked! Would totally recommend and am planning on going back next year.

Dr. Trang Ngo was very knowledgeable, patient, and kind explaining everything. The technology and staff at Spectacle is very impressive. Dr. Ngo showed and explained data of my eye pressure and peripheral vision test. We watched my eye moisture evaporation video, photos of my eye oil grands and their quality, and Dr. Ngo told me tips on how to improve my levels. She showed me a cool optomap of my retinal nerve and muscles. It was the most comprehensive exam Ive ever had.

I really enjoyed my exam and their collection of frames that they have. They have great quality frames and awesome people there to help you. Marc Schmitt is extremely friendly and made the exam easy going and enjoyable. If you get a chance, go check out the store for yourself and see the high quality service and frames that Spectacle has to offer.

A lifelong glasses wearer, coming here is one of my best optician experiences to date. Excellent service, knowledgeable regarding glasses and contacts. They are compassionate about those without vision insurance (like me). Their selection of frames are contemporary and tasteful, and run the gamut from pretty affordable to spendy, customizable high-end styles. They were helpful when I wanted to comparison shop elsewhere, too.

This place is great! I couldnt have asked for a better experience. They are up-to-date on modern optometry sciences, and they are fast. My only complaint is that I wish they served complementary wine or fine craft beer during my eye appointment.Question: Who loves getting that puff of air blown in your eye to test glaucoma?Answer: NO ONE, EVER.Question: Does Spectacle blow air into your eyeballs?Answer: NO - THEY HAVE EYE-SCIENCE!Also, they have a great selection of frames, they have parking, and they have great lighting so you can actually see what you look like in your eye-goggles.

Went into Spectacle hoping that they would be able to adjust my Retro Super Future sunglasses. Veronica helped me out; she was very nice and quick! Would recommend!

I had a great experience getting an eye exam and fitting for first time contacts lenses. I especially liked that the digital retina exam meant no need for dilation. Many thanks to Dr. Schmitt and Hector for their patience and thorough contact lens training. I highly recommend the team for exemplary service!

Spectacle is by far the best Optometry office ive been to. Super clean and classy. I saw Dr. Ngo, she was very professional and thorough. She made sure she explained everything she was doing and made the visit enjoyable. Unfortunately, I am moving to another state but if I wasnt, I would absolutely make them my primary Optometrist.

Spectacle is the best ever. Dr. Schmitt and his staff are so concise and are great at helping you understand any questions you may have. I had been going to another eye specialist and never saw any results in over a year. As soon as I left Spectacle I felt a huge relief - I finally feel like I understand my eyes and all of my questions were answered by doctor Schmitt with both photos and videos. I never knew that I would need glasses, but I am so excited to receive them now that I know why I need them.In addition to the great care they give you during your appointment, picking out glasses is so much fun. They have a wonderfully curated selection of glasses, it is a relaxed environment and stress-free. The interiors and decorating also makes you feel like you are being taken care of. It is clean and just feels really nice :)I definitely recommend going to Spectacle!

What a cool place! I wasnt sure what to expect being near the Pearl. I thought it would be super uppity. When I walked in, I was promptly greeted by Megan, and instructed to complete new patient paperwork on a nearby computer, it was super easy. The staff was super friendly. Gustavo made me feel really comfortable during my pre eye exam. Dr. Ngo was super thorough, and explained everything she was doing. I unexpectedly learned a lot about eye health; Ive never experienced that before when getting an eye exam. Jane helped me to pick out my frames, along with some super sweet support from Megan. The whole team made me feel like I was one of the cool kids. I highly recommend Spectacle.

I went to Spectacle on a busy Saturday afternoon to get an eye exam. At the front, Christy greeted me and gave me a form to fill out. It only took a few minutes, and then the tech, Gustavo, took me to a separate room to look at my eyes. He used several machines and was able to knowledgeably answer my questions about what he was looking for. Then Dr. Ngo went over the results with me and helped fit me for contact lenses and for glasses. I have a challenging prescription and I was impressed that she was able to explain so clearly each result. Then Gustavo helped me pick out frames while figuring out what my insurance would cover. Everyone I interacted with was very friendly and knowledgeable, and the tech and the doctor both went the extra mile to ensure I could have affordable contacts and glasses.

The shop seems very welcoming. All the staff are nice. I found a fitting pair for me with Eloras help. She made my experience in the shop, a good one.

Dr. Schmitt is very friendly and you can tell he really knows his stuff! He described what was going on throughout the eye exam in a way that was easy to understand. Its comforting to know hes looking out for his patients interests. I would highly recommend him as an optometrist!

Loved my experience at Spectacle. Coming from another eye care clinic...this experience was far superior. Its high tech, modern, and everyone there was uber friendly. Veronica explained everything in great detail and made it fun! Dr. Schmitt did a great job also. I love my new glasses!
