Must visit every single time we are here in Portland. The flavors, the creativity and the magic is felt right away as soon as you walk up to the building. This one is my favorite location. Enjoy all the delicious treats they have to offer. Customer service is exceptional. Thank you for the magical experience Voodoo πβ¨
While the doughnuts are quite good. They have slipped from how good they were when we first got them six years ago. Bummer! The staff was bordering on rude and seemed only interested in moving us through. When traveling from out of state, you want to experience the place and they robbed us of that opportunity. Finally, Old Town, in which this place is located, is not a safe as it once was. It is very dirty, approaching slum-like conditions. We wonβt be backβ¦. Ever!
Portland staple. You have to try it because it just is. Signature pink box with the store logo on it brings up so much memories. The donuts were chewy and sweet. Our favorite were definitely the maple bacon. Voodoo one was a little too sweet for me. The staff were friendly, quick service and the shop offered a whole vibe.
Our late night scavenger hunt through the streets of Portland led us to Voodoo Doughnut. The place was glowing in the distance, and everyone was eager to get inside. The voodoo donut did not disappoint. It was sweet, soft and chewy. Removing the pretzel stick was probably the best part. There was no filling in that area, but a single bite exposed the injection hole on the other side. Red filling spread everywhere. Enjoyed every bite.
Enjoyed our donuts and it wasnt overwhelmingly sweet. There was a line when we got there but it moves fast. U can also order ahead and pick it up (dont have to wait in-line for that). This is just a small shop but really quirky. They also sell cups and hoodie. We bought 7 donuts, some are big some are small, and got 2 free!! I think this place is one of the must see Portland.
Incredible donuts at a great price. I am not a huge donut fan, but I tried this place after a friend recommended it to me. I didnβt regret it. Situated in the Old Town area of Downtown Portland, this place is surely worth a visit. There is always a line here, and getting in can take 10-20 minutes. The donuts come in many flavors, and making a choice could be difficult. Just go with anything, and youβll love it. The area around it is a little shady, but itβs okay. I highly recommend this donut place.
I heard about this place from my friends.I have tried different donuts places in different parts of the States. I could say it is one of the best donut places.I have tried the classic donut combo which is 16$.I like all of them except the sugar powdered one and the plain one. One should give a try if ur in downtown Portland.Peace π
I was searching for local attractions in Portland and interestingly Voodoo showed up in the search results. I made it a point to try these donuts and they are delicious. Old fashioned glazed is the best and the Portland Bavarian cream donut is yummy. After tasting them you will get a feeling that each donut is specially prepared. This experience has been very similar to the Donut Friend store in Los Angeles.
Had to wait in line, but it moved quickly, and now that Ive eaten the donuts, I can confidently say it was totally worth it! Had the Oh Captain, My Captain and Voodoo donuts, and even though Im not a huge fan of donuts in general, I would eat here again without question! Must see place, and the people are so friendly.
This is the original iconic shop where it all started almost twenty years ago.Their selection offers a mix of classic and unconventional flavors combined with vibrant colors, pizazz, and phenomenal taste! When a doughnut craving strikes, whether itβs an order in-store or online delivery, Voodoo Doughnut should be on top of the list!
Many people were waiting.Still, the line of waiting decreased quickly. The distance from each counter I order is a little close, but there was no problem. The doughnut price was not as expensive as I thought and it was so delicious.I understand why you are famous. If theres no waiting line, its a place I want to try again next time.
These doughnuts were amazing. We would definitely return. Went on a Saturday morning and the line to get in was pretty long so we placed an online order which was ready in 15 minutes. The area around is pretty sketchy since its half a block away from the homeless mission. The weekend market is less than a block away so we wandered that way.
Worth it. Iβm sure youβre thinking βItβs a doughnut. It canβt be that great.β It is truly that great. Delicious. Light. Fluffy. Amazing. Highly recommend. One tip: Go first thing in the morning so you arenβt waiting in line all day. We got there about 30 minutes before it opened and weβre 4th in line. So plan accordingly.
Its more of a hype. The donuts are unique for sure but not tasty. But I would like to shout out the person who was packing our donuts. We accidently left our credit card and left the shop. She came outside leaving other customer to return us the credit card. Loved the hospitality we received.
Great place to check out the original Voodoo Donuts. While this wasnβt my first time having their donuts, itβs a quaint location that has monthly and seasonal selections. Just be aware of your surroundings as thereβs a reason they have a security guard. However, there are good photo spots in the area.
The doughnuts are worth the wait and the line moves fairly quickly. They now take cards, which is great and they are handling service well during COVID restrictions. I didnt give 5 stars because I didnt like the new Chai doughnut.I highly recommend going to others!
Fun donuts & great staff. the line might look daunting, but it moves along pretty quickly. the pastries themselves are tasty, but have a dif texture than the traditional fried donut. its a little less chewy in my opinion, but still delicious. we always try different flavors when we visit & my fav is probably the butterfingering (lol)
We got lucky with no line at 9:50am on a Friday. The greeter was SUPER sweet and dogs were allowed. Service was quick and understanding with great recommendations!
Guava doughnut & Tango Mango the best. Everything there is good. Funny names too.
We were snowed in on our trip so we were excited to try out Voodoo donuts. Overall, they were decent donuts. I wouldnβt go as far to say they are the best in town, but itβs more of a fun thing to try because of their awesome looking illustrations on their donuts. Donβt expect them to be the best, as there are better and cheaper donut places in town thatβs a better bang for your buck.
We walked here from Deschutes brewery. I think it was a 13 min walk. I dont think Id recommend doing that. The street on the way there was run down with sadly many homeless people sleeping on sidewalks and in tents. We chose more of a main street on the way back that was a little better. We should have pre-ordered because we had to wait in line in the sun to get in around 5pm, and the line got considerably longer after we arrived. They seemed to let 2 groups of customers in at a time. (We didnt realize where the line started so by the time we walked to the door and back to the line, another group had gotten in front of us.) The inside is very small, not with a traditional bakery display cases like I had imagined. There was a revolving display case which was fun to look at but we made our list while waiting in line and looking at the choices on the posters, so we might as well have ordered online. The inside had a cool vibe the way it was decorated and with stained glass.Only the pre-selected dozens are a discounted price, otherwise you pay by the donut, each with its own price. We paid $31 for a dozen. Pricey, but actually a little less expensive than some gourmet donut shops in RI. You may want to check your order before you leave because we didnt get one donut that we ordered, but were not sure if we were charged for it. They did not have any large bags with handles and they did not tape the box shut. The 13 min walk back was not too fun with a large box that kept popping open. The donuts were very good. The guava colada was my favorite. The powdered donutwas very small, especially compared to everything else. A couple of the other ones we ordered were on the smaller side too, I didnt check to see if that was reflected in their price.
Good doughnuts in a pink box in a sketchy part of Portland. They doughnuts are good and very unique.
It was a fun place to see when we were visiting. I do have to say that it is the first donut shop that had to have security, for good reason. It is in a awful part of town with lots of homeless shady people around. I also read on another post someone was attacked by a homeless person leaving the store.* REASON FOR 5 STARS*It is a fun and different place to visit. You have to stand in line outside because the building is very small. They have lots of variety to choose from. They also are also decorated so fun, with interesting names. I really like visiting and experiencing all the strange atmosphere they have to offer. As for tast, it me, a donut is a donut.
Awesome people work here. Great donuts. They are so cute and different.
We visited Voodoo with high expectations are were not disappointed. We went on a Friday around 2pm and there was no line. The creativity of the donuts were incredible and the taste was amazing! Overall, 0 complaints! We were hoping to try Blue Stars for a comparison but unfortunately didnt make it.
A favorite with the locals, many original donuts are served here. We walked by the previous evening, and there was a log line. The next morning, we got right in with a cheerful clerk and our bought out stash of unusual donuts. Yumm!
Friendly and helpful staff good doughnuts you can order online π
We got the voodoo doll (chocolate icing, raspberry jelly) and the school daze (actual peanut butter on top, raspberry jelly filling), both of which were available vegan. The voodoo doll was very large - good for 2 people - and while tasty, not sure if itβs better than the average donut as we donβt eat donuts that often. Would happily eat it again, or not. The school daze was too dry- we had thought it might have some sort of peanut butter icing, but it was straight up PB and there wasnβt any raspberry filling to make it less dry until the last 1/3 of the donut. Wouldnβt get that one again. It is pretty neat how many vegan options they had in store and the line around 1pm on a Sat only took about 15 mins - it moved faster than expected.
I had craved for donuts, but other places do not have vegan donuts. Voodoos vegan donuts are the best. So delicious! So satisfying! Thank you for making vegan donuts available. The peanut butter jelly donut is my favorite. Cant wait to go back to Portland to get more!
I love how the fame hasnt gotten to their heads! π₯°I honestly thought Id be paying like $10 for two donuts but I only paid around $4!!!!It was a nice surprise!I got the little voodoo guy & the Homer! Both suuuuuper good and nice and softThe voodoo guy had a little pretzel stuck through his back like a knife, it was a cute touch π
Good donuts. Interesting flavors, just more expensive than expected! But still enjoyable
The donuts taste pretty solid, some of the flavors are weird although I think that is the point! However, I do really like the voodoo doll flavor, covered in tons of chocolate with a very good filling. I would stay away from the grape ape flavor, it tastes like fake grape flavored candy and no one in my party was a fan. If youre visiting Portland, its a must go!
Love the doughnuts n the services was amazing...
Loved it! Yummy donuts! Worth waiting in line, very friendly
Unique and big tasty donuts. Had to try a couple. I liked the Hibiscus donut, something different.
Not sure what all the hype is about but obviously I am in the minority. The donuts were not bad but zero wow factor to justify the price. For all their combinations of taste, the simple glazed donuts were the best.
We waited outside in line for about 10 minutes. They cleaned the lobby after ever customer, which there where 3 tills at a time, service was fast, safe, and friendly. We drove from north Seattle just for the occasion. It was great!
Very soft doughnuts but misleading. The voodoo doughnut was not frosted on the website to look like what it should have been and was disappointed to have waited in a long line to end up not getting what was marketed. I love doughnuts to look aesthetically pleasing but when marketing not what is on the website for the Voodoo doll doughnut rather not happy. Also the fact online ordering isnt up and running for a business who gets lots of customer service and to not have it working should be fixed.
Its different and out of the ordinary. Long lines that moves quickly. The pastriesπ© are HUGE! and worth standing in line. Enjoy.
Voodoo doughnuts is all the rage in Portland. Doughnuts were good, merch was cool. Overall layout and design of shop was intriguing.
Slightly above average doughnuts. Fun selection, but nothing groundbreaking or original. They were enjoyable, but not worth going out of your way for. More of a tourist trap than an actual good doughnut.
I love it soo much!
Great doughnuts!!! Love the buttermilk bars.
We only sampled a few donuts, but we liked almost all of them (wasnβt a huge fan of the Grape-ape donut or the plain raised yeast). However, I would get the maple bacon bar again AND their apple fritter OR...try a chocolate cake donut next time. Anyway, though Voodoo still has nothing on a fresh Longβs yeast donut (YUM! π€€), itβs definitely something worth checking out if youβre in the Portland or Universal Orlando area.
Absolutely rude!! The donuts are ok, but the staff have some of the worse customer service skills Iβve ever encountered! I will not support voodoo donuts again!!
They have a good variety of flavors but are not super delicious.
I usually love the vegan donuts here but they have made a royal mistake! Very sad. I was supposed to receive a dozen delectable vegan donuts but they mixed it up and gave me a non vegan batch instead. So sad! One of the donuts even had bacon on it, gasp! By the time I realized it it was too late to return them and I had to go without donuts for the day! Major disappointment. It was one of the saddest days of my life.Next time I go I am hoping for a free batch or two to make up for the heartbreak I had to endure. I am hoping they come through.
Helpful tip: Order online! There was a long line to get these donuts. Ordering online will save you some time. So many cool donuts to choose from; my favorite is the Key Lime donut, so good! The Homer Donut is good. The Maple Bacon donut is super nice! The bacon on top was nice and crispy but soft enough to bite into.
The lines moves kind of slow, but its definitely worth it. The prices vary by the doughnut, and the cake donuts are definitely smaller than the yeast ones. If youre a fan of chocolate, Id go for one of the yeast donuts with chocolate frosting, especially the chuckles! And the buttermilk bar is TO DIE FOR!And if you dont have time for the line, just order ahead via uber eats or another platform and that should save you the line time.
Funky and whacky donuts, order online to pickup much quicker than 90 minutes line.
Doughnuts are delicious and creative though a few are a touch crass (made me laugh though). Staff was friendly and moved quickly. Have every intention of returning!
Theres a lot of hype around voodoo doughnuts, and I always thought it was probably a bit much. Having finally gone, I now realize that the hype is absolutely well deserved. I got a mango doughnut and a guava doughnut, two of my favorite fruits, and they were insanely good. So good, I frequently feel nostalgic for them. Voodoo doughnuts will be a stop for me whenever I am near one from now on.
Should be able to order merchandise without waiting in Donut line. Possibly via online order.
Absolutely delicious donuts!! I wish we had one closer to my hometown in Kentucky.
Still the best!! They stopped making the double chocolate penetration though which was, in my opinion, the best there. Super clean store, cashier was very friendly. Glad we stopped!
Never went inside, but, the outside looks so cute, and so do the donuts!
Im always worried with places like Voodoo that are so well known as touristy stops that the substance wont be worth the expense. Voodoo totally shocked me - the donuts were AMAZING. The coffee was also delicious and everything was priced reasonably.
Donuts are huge! They taste fresh and decent prices. People working there are really nice and welcoming. Expect to get in line but it advances quickly. Definitely come here if you like donuts.
Amazing donuts! Minus one star because it was a long wait and we tried to order online but it showed unavailable. We watched multiple people walk up to pick up their online order and they even advertised on a sign to order online. Why have the sign if its unavailable.
So good! Worth the traffic and pricey parking
The line moved very quickly, and the doughnuts were delicious. Very fluffy and light dough, we tried the chuckles that was delicious and the bacon maple (good, but I dont get the hype... Very maple-y).
Best VEGAN donuts on the planet!! Love their Vegan School Daze and all the vegan Maple donuts!! The bottom shelf is all vegan-- many choices!
There is no doubt that Voodoo Doughnut is a Portland institution but it doesnt mean it has the best donut in town. I have the impression that they are more famous for the funky vibe or even the fame itself than for the donuts. Their decor and presentation are a little sloppy and the donuts are very sweet, on top of that, often the wait...
Good novelty donuts!! With a Keep Portland Weird vibe. Service was super friendly. Located in downtown Portland. Tried the Blueberry cake and the Portland cream. Both were great with a cup of coffee!!
Wonderful, great experience. Fun, upbeat, worth the wait .Customize the real big c**knba*ls donut!!We got 2 dozen, Huge donuts, all different kinds. Awesome vibes. From outside to inside this place is unique and fun. Big smiles the whole time!
Great donuts what a wide variety! We had to get a dozen to try so many different ones.
Amazing doughnuts! I would even say these are better than places Iβve been to in NYC and Philly!!!We ordered two doughnuts and the person gave us three extras free of charge!I was very surprised by the bubblegum flavor (one of the freebies) and it was probably one of my favs along with the βMiami Vice.βEverything is delicious from the doughnut itself to the icing! My recommendation would be to go for iced doughnuts over filled ones, but that may also be my preference :)
You must give these a try! The donuts are massive and ohhh so yummy! Aside from my kids commenting on the names of some of the donuts, it was a great spot to grab a local treat. I recommend that you grab them as youre heading home from your ventures because theyre surprisingly heavy to carry around!
Several VEGAN options and priced extremely fair. Service was excellent! Didnt have to wait long. The hot coffee was on point, too. Will definitely return if passing through again.
These donuts are really great but the homeless people outside singing and saying they were going to kill us whilst throwing the contents of their backpacks at us was even better. 10/10 entertainment
This was my first time trying Voodoo doughnuts. I ordered online and was able to get my order quickly. They are HUGE and honestly, too sweet. They are more bready than fluffy or greasy/crispy. The bubblegum didnt taste much like bubblegum. The hibiscus was like a floral berry flavor. The maple cream had more of a custard filling than the fluffy cream I was expecting. The rose pistachio had a really good flavor, although again too sweet. My favorite ended up being the PB&J donut, which thankfully wasnt too sweet due to having peanut butter on top instead of the frosting. It was interesting to try the flavors but I wouldnt go out of my way to come here again.
Voodoo doughnuts on Friday the 13th
