This place is very unprofessional!I went here for glasses and a contact prescription. I have insurance. I’ve never had a copay before with my insurance! Yet, here they said I had to pay a $50 copay. (And they rush u in and out the door)I paid without complaint, no biggie. I also paid extra to get a blue tint on my glasses & make them scratch resistant.After less than 20 days I contacted the company and complained that there was no blue tint & that my lenses had deep scratches, despite my glasses never leaving my house, which shouldn’t be the case, being that I paid over $100 extra with all of the ads-ons.I was assured that someone would reach out to me with a resolution within a 48hr period.Here it is, over 6mths later, and I’ve made several inquiries and STILL they refuse to not only speak with me but to return any of my emails or calls! I would just walk into the office, but at this point I fear I might lose my temper as I have waited So long & paid so much…for what?!?! A generic pair of glasses that I could’ve gotten from a dollar store???Today I will be filing a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau as I begin my search for a new eye care professional.So sad that you can’t even depend on businesses these days…I went to this company for my very 1st pair of contacts when I was only 11yo!!! I am 33yo now.You just lost someone who was probably 1 of ur best customers. I hope it was worth it…idiots 🙄
Great service, always helpful for whatever it is you require. Always let us know what the insurance covers. Staff is some of the nicest and helpful people I’ve seen at a business. And I always seem to get my glasses within a reasonable time
Beware… they will schedule you for a telehealth appointment without telling you in advance. I went there for my appointment and when I go in there’s a doctor on a TV. My glasses prescription is completely wrong and I have to go back to have them corrected. I requested to see the doctor in person there but they said I would get charged as a whole new visit to do that. Moral of the story… if you want to see a doctor in person, make sure you ask specifically for that first or even better go somewhere else.
Staff are friendly but my appt was scheduled for 10:20 am with the telahealth doc and I didn’t actually get into see anyone until 11:06pm. I almost walked out. The actually appt was quick and simple. But then I was guided out to pick lenses (why wasn’t I prompted to do so in the 40 mins I sat and waited in a back waiting area). So I speed pick out my glasses because I have other commitments I am running late for now (so I didn’t have the luxury of taking my time), all to sit and wait for some insurance authorization before they can process my purchase any further, this didn’t take more than 10 mins, thankfully because overall I spent from 10:15 am- 11:55 am
I do not know about all the bad reviews, I have been here for two years now. I never had to wait, and everything goes smoothly.
Dont go there. I waited for over two hours just for them to check my contacts after I told them over and over that they were fine. There is a mystery beeping noise in the waiting room that will drive you crazy. The technician, Riley, was very nice but they obviously way overbooked her. Everyone else I dealt with there, however, was rude and not helpful at all.
The service at this place is painfully slow..it is terribly slow. I come for my 6pm appointment and the first thing they say is we are least an hour behind schedule.. you need to clear your schedule for 2-3 hours to get an exam done at this place…pack a snack and bring a pillow and blanket so u can take a nap…place is a joke
They dont pick up their phone, they should hire more front end help if theyre having trouble.
I was not called & notified that my glasses were in, when I tried calling MULTIPLE times, I couldnt get a person from the actual store to answer. Instead, I spoke to computer Amelia, & kept being put on hold for 1010-20 minutes, then spoke w/ a customer representative from I dont even know where! 😡😡 Very rude they dont answer their phone personally, or call to let you know your glasses are in!
Very clean and wiping everything down when you leave each station. Got my wife and I in on time. Very pleasant to work with. Explained what our insurance covered for frames. Excellent visit.
All I have to say is the employees there are RUDE. I thought maybe I was being a little over critical but a friend of mine went in for glasses and she walked out because they were rude to her as well. You have a big problem in that Potsdam,NY store. I will never go back there.
NEVER GOING BACK. I have seldom been so frustrated with modern customer service than I have at this store. The people were pleasant but very unhelpful. I left the first time I went in because I got nothing but No, sorry, but no suggestions as to what I could do. I cooled down and made an appointment to go back another time and Darcy was much more helpful. So helpful that I scheduled an appointment to see her when I went to pick up my glasses. But I did not see her and the person who fit my glasses was the same, unhelpful person I saw the first time. When I got out to the car and looked in the mirror, the lenses were riding so high that I was looking straight through the progressives. I adjusted the nosepieces to get them down some, but I cant believe she didnt see that and try to fix it when I was there. Despite their broad selection of lenses, Im going back to a small optometrist who communicates with me.
I broke my glasses frames and cant see without them. Visionworks is my primary care doctor so my friend offered to take my glasses over while I was at work since all I needed was the frames. When she arrived and told them what was going on, they looked and said they had the frames in stock. Perfect! It should be a five minute fix and the lobby is empty. My lucky day, right? Wrong! They told her that I had to make an appointment to come back next week and theyd have to order frames because they couldnt guarantee that the frames I needed would still be in stock. Ive never been so furious. They were rude and unhelpful. I dont expect the world to be dropped for me, but theres an empty lobby and it shouldnt have taken that long to put the lenses in the frames. Ive had it done other places without a problem. I remember getting my glasses there and not being impressed with how unfriendly they were. But I was young and needed glasses at the time. Now, Im furious. Needless to say, Ill be taking my business elsewhere and you should too.Update: My friend took my glasses to Walmarts vision center. They were fixed in 5 minutes and the woman that fixed them was blown away that they couldnt take the 5 minutes to change out the frames. Thank you Walmart!!
So frustrated with them! Not friendly at all. I felt like I was an inconvenience to them. Poor choices of frames. They tried and failed 3 times getting contacts for me! First time they didnt realise I had astigmatism, which was in my files AND they did do an exam. Second try, I put them in and couldnt see! I was told to let my eyes adjust first?? Ive worn contacts for years and never had to let my eys adjust. Third try....still not right. I give up. Ill be looking for a new place to go. I so miss Dr Saidels office!!!!!
The employees were not helpful at all! When my husband and I were the last two patients before lunch, they would not let us come in together. When my husband returned, they said he was late and would not see him. Funny, I came out at 1:00 from the doctor’s exam so they were behind anyway. There reply was the Doctor has lunch from 1-2. Looking for another place to go!
I have just purchased my first pair of glasses, so this was a totally new experience for me. Before I made my appointment, I read the other reviews and almost went to Watertown. I am happy to say, that wasnt necessary. Everyone was friendly, efficient and helpful. I was seen promptly, and yes, there was a brief wait in between each phase of the process, but nothing extraordinary. Lots of choices of frames. Very happy with my glasses and will continue to use Empire Visionworks in the future. Thanks everyone!

Staff is unfriendly and unfamiliar with services. Basically just a bunch of young kids running the place, very unprofessional. Wait time on glasses is a lot longer than 10 business days. If you would like professional service and a thorough exam, seek elsewhere. Definitely would not trust this specific Potsdam location with my children’s eye are.
This place is the biggest joke of a place I have ever been. I’m sitting here and it has taken over an hour just to see the optician. No one is even in this place but me. I have never been so disappointed. I will not be coming back here after this. Also they have a overpriced and awful selection of glasses. Hope this helps everyone else out.
Absolutely disgusted. Once I walked in I was treated with disrespect by the staff. Had to get my frames fixed, which cost me 97 dollars even though I had them on warranty. I go to get them fitted and they wouldnt even do anything! I looked over the front desk and a woman was playing solitaire! Not coming back. Ever.

Ive worn glasses for 45 years. In that time Ive had good ones, and not so good ones. My prescription from Visionworks is perfect, and the fit is great for computer work. As far as customer service; they will do what it takes to make sure you are happy with your glasses. I highly recommend them.

The quality of the glasses was very cheap and workmanship was very poor. They tried to justify that by saying they were custom made lenses, so they arent going to be perfect. Glasses that expensive should look perfect! A few people that work there were very arrogant and defensive. Not a place I would ever recommend

My experience at vision works was eye opening! (Pun intended). The staff was very informative and knowledgable. The virtual eye exam without a live doctor in the room made me skeptical at first, however upon completing the exam I was very pleased with how accurate and enjoyable the process was! The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because I dont have insurance so the out of pocket cost dinged my wallet... but I suppose thats the price you have to pay to be able to see lol I would recommend to family and friends for sure:)
Horrible visit. Doesnt even deserve 1 star. My appointment was at 345 and it is now 515 and they havent even measured me for my glasses. Getting ready to walk out. I feel ignored. Staff is rude. Dont come here.I was not happy with my first visit but my glasses came quicker than expected and I love them. It was my second pair of progressive lenses and I can finally wear them while on the computer. Changing my review to 3 stars.
I had called to set up a eye exam and the receptionist was very rude and unprofessional, VERY UNFRIENDLY AND POOR SERVICE DO NOT RECOMMEND!!

Not overly impressed after this last visit, still waiting on my daughters contacts that were ordered a week and a half ago just called to see what the deal was, and was told they are on back order....the day of the appointment was horrendous! we both had appointments scheduled I cancelled mine after I was told upon arrival my insurance was out of network (after confirming I was in network when I scheduled initially)so I cancelled my appointment and we were still there for 3.5 hours. My personal information was broadcast across the store when one associate called inquiring about my insurance. I will not go back! Even if they are the only place in Potsdam that IS in network with my insurance.
This place is a piece of ***. They overcharge on contacts and lenses. This place should be shutdown, never coming back again. Do not recommend this place to anyone.
Tele-Exam was great but the fact that our appointment was double-booked wasn’t. A staff member needs to check appointments made over the weekend; especially on a Sunday.
Horrible! I will never return to the Potsdam Visionworks! To start with I was never told until after they did the exams, that for a first time contact patient that she would not be receiving her contacts that day, that she would have to come back 2 other times! Which is a huge inconvenience when you live an hour away! Then they didnt even have sample contacts there, everything had to be ordered, and was never called to let us know that glasses and contacts were in! Each time we have come our wait has been ridiculous, at least 45 minutes before we are even seen! The 5 of us will definitely never ever be coming back! This place is a joke! Only reason I gave it 1 star is because they dont give an option to leave 0!!!
My optician was really nice. He gave me a full description of lenses and how I can save money on some of them. I am eagerly waiting for my glasses. :)
They are very disorganized. This is the second appointment Ive taken my daughter to where the appointments were confirmed by vision works and then she goes, checks in and waits for over an hour to be told that they have too many patients so she will need to come back again. This is rediculous. They should not overbook appointments. Hopefully tomorrow she will actually receive her exam.Very Poor Service!
The optometrist is so nice and thorough, so I really regret leaving this review. I do really like the facility and some of the staff are thorough and great to work with but the wait and organization of paper work is so poor - it’s time for me to talk about it. We have been coming here for years and they are not just never on time but they are multiple people who have appointments behind every time. Therefore, I believe their scheduling process needs to be greatly improved, and surprised that it’s still the same as years ago. This is so inconvient for people and if this review helps them to move into this century of scheduling then we would like to continue to schedule at this Visin Works. Please fix this.

This was my first time at Vision Works and I honestly hope I dont have to come back. The staff was friendly to everyone that they knew or they had as a patient before but when its someone they havent had I noticed they arent as helpful. I was early for my appointment because I knew Id have to fill out paperwork but I didnt get to see the Dr. until 30 minutes after I was scheduled. When I finally got around to seeing the Dr. he was very closed off and not exactly the kind of person that makes you feel comfortable. I didnt even know his name until I asked and he corrected me because I pronounced it wrong. From then on the appointment was silent and awkward. I wish it would have been a more comfortable experience.
Lenses are hugely expensive . But they have great selections of frames . And Mark is a super agent at insuring a perfect fit of your frames. Follow ups are always free.

This place is a mess. Theyll have you waiting for hours! Called to schedule the appointment, was told they took my insurance, then get a call like the day before my appointment from them to tell me my insurance couldnt be accepted. So I was told Id need to pay out of pocket. Then showed up for my 3:15 appointment and wasnt even seen for over 45 minutes before I figured out what a mess this place is, while watching staff just stand around wasting time, I had to actually go up and ask if Im going to be seen soon, the woman tells me shell check, then tells me theres still at least 2 people ahead of me before I could even be seen, that theyre wayyy behind and that right there was the point I decided to cancel this whole thing and leave before wasting more of my time. With staff wasting everyones time like that, is absolutely unprofessional, people were ahead of ME waiting hours! Dont bother with this place, unless you plan on camping out for the day. Such a waste of time. So glad I didnt waste my money on this place.

Theirs only one optometrist, and no one knows what theyre doing. If you go there prepare to wait about two hours.
Went in on a Saturday to have my frames adjusted and was told there was no optician. Unbelieving, I clarified that it was my FRAMES that needed adjustment and the response was there was nobody there who could do that. On a Saturday. Why were they even open??
