DO NOT use the shop for anything! I had a hitch installed a few months ago and that was a huge mistake! They made an appointment and did not tell me when I got there they didn’t have the parts. When the parts finally arrive, they were installed. A few weeks later, and this is my bad, I noticed several parts that were removed from the car were never re-installed. Now I have to spend another $100 to have the parts reinstalled by the dealer. Of course this shop would never admit they did not put the parts back.Horrible experience!The so-called GM, Sharlenet Thillet, won’t return phones calls, the guy at the service desk is rude and obnoxious and can’t be bothered.Save yourself from an awful experience and do no use this store!FYI the one star is only because they don’t have no stars.
Attempted to drop off a trailer with a non specific destination on my reservation and was told to take it somewhere else because:We dont want to deal with it.So I went across the river where I received excellent service in Newburgh.This place is run by a bunch of kids who dont care about anything.
At the time of pickup I was informed they didn’t have the truck available that I reserved.
Terrible place. Terrible employees, more like crooks. All the information on my receipt was false. Charged me 4x what it should have been. Only used the equipment for one day, charged for 4 days and insurance added that I didnt consent to. Go somewhere else that doesnt employ crooks.
Horrible Horrible Horrible. I unfortunately rent from this Poughkeepsie branch for my business and it is always something new. Every time I go there everything is unorganized and a mess. Today once again i got charged for an extra day because they are lazy and returned my truck 1 hour after i dropped it off making it show that i returned it later than when i was supposed to after being instructed to leave my vehicle in a certain spot by a worker. Its the sameeeeee thing every weekend. Everyday I am in there theres always an issue going on. This manager needs to be fired and they need to clean house and start from scratch. I have never seen a business ran in such a horrible way.
Our experience thus far was excellent. I gather when we return the rental truck, it will be fine.

I arrived to this location at 6:25 PM (store closes at 7). I needed propane which I had purchased at this location along with a new tank a few months ago. There is a bell button on the gate that encloses the propane that has a sign to “ring bell for propane”, (or something along those lines) I rung the bell and waited for a few minutes. I then walked into the store. There was an employee behind the counter with his mask down on his chin counting out the register & putting the cash in a blue bank bag. He glanced up at me & mumbled something. I said “I need propane please”, (which I’m sure he already knew because I had rung the bell which he ignored. He answered “propane is closed” I said “the website says you’re open until 7” he then says “we’ve been having trouble with it” I said “then why isn’t there a sign saying so” of course, no answer. Strike 1. Mask off in the presence of a customer during a pandemic. Strike 2. Very poor customer service. Strike 3. You’re a horrible liar. I will never set foot in this store again and like other companies who have lost site of customer service I will tell everyone who will listen.
Rotten service! I have been canceled on last minute three times in a row when I show up. No phone call ahead of time. Apparently they only have one technician who doesn’t show up for work most of the time.Don’t waste your time trying to get any work done here!
No. Just know absolutely do not go to this u-haul. Please do not waste your time, this u-haul is run by Adult children. This was the worst example of professionalism ever, it wasnt even an example because it was non-existent.I would be embarrassed if I owned this store. Where can I begin? The mistakes with my reservation? The hold on my card that was never removed? The irresponsibility of the general manager to call me back? The fact that I could not even leave a message with the manager because his voicemail is always full? Or the fact that no one was at the front desk because all of the staff was in the back garage doing burnouts? Not to mention the staff does not follow COVID regulations. Please if you are moving locally or far do not waste your time with this business you will be very very disappointed and most likely very upset.
I reserved a cargo van online and the process was clear and fast.Waited 2 minutes for customer service once I got there and the rep was wonderful. He found the reservation in seconds, then walked me through the operation of the vehicle and gently gave me the confidence I needed, as I’d never driven a van before.Low mileage and clean, everything on the vehicle worked smoothly during my rental.The return process took under 5 minutes, with the second rep equally friendly and efficient.
On the day we were there it was quite busy. There were two people working counter. They were well stocked with items you might need for a move. But understand this is not cheap. One way 84 miles $144+ plus gas, + insurance etc. And .40 cents for any additional miles
Two weeks ago I rented a 15’ box truck, from the Route 9 Poughkeepsie NY location, to move some furniture. I explained to the sales rep that I had to travel at least 120 miles round trip. They gave me a truck with 137000 miles on it. After loading the truck, proceeding to I84, while reaching highway speed the truck had so much play in the front end, that it was switching lanes by itself. Left with no other choice because I already had the truck loaded I had to exit the highway, and take the back roads all the way down to Southern Westchester county. After returning the truck to explain what happens, The service representative at the establishment became very rash, and unprofessional doubting my complaint. I tried to explain to her that the truck was not road worthy(definitely not for the highway) and suggested they not rent it back out to anyone before having it checked out. She was very doubtful, condescending, unprofessional, and had a bad attitude. I had asked for a discount or a refund due to my inconvenience, was denied and I’m currently disputing the charge. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AS THEY SHOWED NO CONCERN FOR MY SAFETY, THE CONDITION OF THE VEHICLE AND WERE VERY UNPROFESSIONAL.Shame on you.....
Horrible. The GM Marcello Deltreste was very agressive and persisted that we broke a door until the worker said that it was already broken, he had a bad attitude, swore and burnt out when he left. Very bad experience and very unprofessional.
Its a hassle every step of the way with this location. If you can avoid doing business there, please do.
I would like to rate as Zero stars - Awful! The truck we rented had a flat tire! We were in the parking lot and they wouldnt fix. We had to call roadside assistance - from the parking lot FFS.
The overall experience was good regarding politeness and charges. My only concern was their policy of meaningful assurance which appears to be a U-haul policy on their website. This is where they asked me for a friend or family members phone number and they had to call the person to confirm the person.This is to ensure that if they cant reach me they can get in touch with someone who can. I was there in person all my documents matched. (drivers license, Credit card) so whats the need for this step? if U-Haul cant get a hold of me how is this person going to? and lets say they could, then what?They did not enter into a contractual agreement with U-Haul so they are not obligated to say or do anything for U-Haul. To me its discrimination or profiling disguised as something that makes no sense. Besides i told my coworkers and they said that never happened to them. including one who worked for U-Haul a while back.
I’ve rented from these guys time and time again very easy! They explain everything thoroughly and have gone above and beyond for me multiple times!
Im leaving it for stars because my experiences in the past have been terrible. But the last time I was in for a move upstate went very smoothly. Very friendly and professional staff and was very quick to process my order. And the best of all was that my truck was actually there.
Redicoulsy poor service. Manager can watch video footage for proof of this account. I arrived 20 minutes early to return my trailer. It was raining. All three attendants refused to come help me unhitch trailer, because they didnt want to get wet. Even after I asked for assistance, no one showed up to help. I eventually unhitched the trailer myself, called them a lazy @$$ and drove off. I recommend U Haul 100 percent, but I do not recommend renting from this location. This is not my first poor experience at this branch, but it will be my last, because I will never rent from this location again.
If I could put no stars, I would. I have been trying to cancel my storage unit since May and unfortunately do not work in the County so I cannot go to Uhaul in person. Poughkeepsie NEVER answers their phones and when you are transferred to the Uhaul main line, they do nothing. I highly recommend going somewhere else for a storage unit simply because Poughkeepsie doesn’t answer their phone.
Great service and selection of vehicles. The people are very helpful. If you purchase boxes onsite and dont use all of them they will take them back and give you a refund if theyre in good shape. You can also take used boxes for your own use from here.
Brandy was nothing other than amazing and extremely helpful. We called every other U-Haul in town and every other one hung up and was extremely rude. Brady was amazing and we love her. 10/10 Brady.
This location is the worst! We gave them weekly business for years despite having to deal with horrible staff. Then two weeks ago we had a reservation but then when I dropped off my other half to grab it he was told by Ernest that there was no truck available. I tried calling them to make sure there wasn’t some sort of confusion since I received confirmation guaranteeing the truck for that day and time. They said they were busy so they kicked the call over to corporate customer service who told me there was a truck for us there and ask me to go back. When I got back I was met by Ernest who is in his 40s and a large man screaming at me (a petite woman in my 20s) telling me he’s never renting to us again and threatening to physically throw me out of the store etc. -All while customer service was still on the phone. So they tell me that everything is being submitted to his boss and to just to do the rentals through an app from now on so I don’t have to interact with him. Okay great, that sounds simple. Except we made the reservation for after hours to avoid the staff and when we unlocked our box outside it had two sets of keys, and reservation papers that were not ours and ended up not even matching either of the trucks they left keys for. So we now have paperwork with someone else’s name, address, phone number, email etc.. woah would I be upset if my information was given to a complete stranger!! Getting back to the keys, when we opened the locked box at 10:30pm we thought it strange that there were two keys but assumed they must just give two keys, so we took them, used one to press unlock, walked over to the truck, got in and the mileage was way off. It said 1471 on the contract but was at 1129. So I took a picture and submitted it. The next day once we had the truck at home we realized the other set of keys was not for the truck when we grabbed the wrong ones from our entry way and couldn’t get into the truck. No problem we thought, they made a mistake and we’ll just return both keys to the lockbox. Well we go and drop the truck off somewhere between 7:30pm and 8:30pm and think everything is fine. The next morning I’m waiting for my receipt I always get emailed to me around 7am. I didn’t get it until later that afternoon and it says that we returned it at 2pm the day after we actually did so they charged us for 2 days and then they also tried charging us for driving 244 miles when we get it every week and always do the same thing with around 20 miles. So I think okay they obviously looked at the wrong truck, I’ll just drive over to the location and fix it fast. I walk in there and talk to a young man that was very nice and trying to figure it out, he brought me out to the truck I guess we were supposed to use and he showed me that it had 1473 miles on it-so 2 more than the original contract had which is always the case from them doing whatever they need to with the trucks, so it wasn’t used. Then I ask him if he checked in the truck that was parked in the drop off lane and he said no he did it based off the truck I was supposed to take even though that had sat to the side the entire time untouched because we were given the wrong keys. He was trying to be helpful and was apologetic and said he was going to help me fix the problem. Next, Ernest came over and he was asking about what was going on in a nice way, so I nice explained the situation to him. Then Laryssa the manager finished with the customer she was helping and came over screaming at me that “you guys always have issues with us! We’re no longer renting to you, you need to leave or I’m calling the police to kick you out!” I explained that I didn’t understand where that came from since in years of consistently renting weekly this was only our second issue. She then grabbed her bag ran outside drive away and called the cops, when they came she refused to let the officers look at even just the trucks to see mileage, she hung up on corporate when they tried contacting her about it. This store has the WORST staff and Laryssa has no business managing there or anywhere

I had an 8am appt to have a trailer hitch and wiring harness installed and they told me it should be done by 10am...7 hours later it was finished because they didn’t have all the parts and someone spent nearly 4 hrs to get the part from another uhaul location 30 minutes away...you do the math and tell me if customer service was any sort of priority. I will never go to them again!And all the whole, not one employee came by to apologize for the extra 5 hour wait time...you can do better !
I reserved a 10 foot truck for a one way rental to Maryland weeks in advance. Four or five days before pick-up, I called this Poughkeepsie location, to see if everything is in good shape. They could not find my reservation, but told me that that is not unusual for one way rentals. One day before pick-up, I received an email telling me that pick-up location was changed to Pleasant Valley. The same day I drove to the Poughkeepsie location in order to change it back to Poughkeepsie, or any other location south of Poughkeepsie. That was not possible. The next day, I had to drive 30 min north to pick it up and then drive it south, on miles I pay for. Also, you will not be charged 99 cents per mile you actually drive, but 99 cents per mile they estimate you will drive, which is higher.
Not good, just wanted a price and was asked a bunch of questions that realy did not apply to getting a quote. Told the girl forget it ill go somewhere else. Good luck getting my business......not.
The general manager Tosha and her co worker Justin were incredibly helpful when I had a hitch installed on my van. Everyone in the store was friendly, proffesional and they went out of their way to help me. Plus they were able to get me in earlier and finish faster then expected. What great service. Highly recommended this store.

I absolute worst customer service... I tried to schedule a tow hitch installation and still after 3 weeks they cant seem to get the correct hitch.. They have wasted my time and money and took no responsibility. They have a lot of excuses how this isnt there fault.. which must be very comforting too them, but not much help for me... My only hope is that they rent one of there trucks and move there business far far away
The uhaul truck I was given was clean and worked great. I was able to do what I needed. The staff tried to upgrade me to a 15 footer but I did not need a big truck, so they have me the 10 footer that I asked for. You can leave your car there while you do your moving. Would recommend if you need a uhaul or moving vehicle.
I would give no stars if it would allow me too! This place needs to be overhauled by corporate! Stopped to look into trailer hitches. One employee named George (shorter gentleman with tattoos) attempting to help everyone. He gets 5 stars! He was attempting to complete 3 trailer hitch installations alone. No manager there yet he remained very professional. As a business owner I am disgusted that someone would be put in that situation! George deserves better and so does any customer
Rented a unit from them. My unit was on auto pat ever 25th of the month. They charged me a late charge of the 27th and emailed me on the 28th. Wouldn’t wave the fee for an auto pay that they still took. This place is crazy and can never get them on the phone no matter what type of day it is

The are RUDE. I Reserved a trailer to avoid the mileage and gas cost... When I arrived they said that they didnt have it and they called me and sent me an email. They did neither! Gave me a lousy $50 credit like that would make up the difference for their mistake. 1800 go uhaul doesnt answer the phone... Im never using them again

Made a reservation and received confirmation for pick up that was not only NOT at the location I asked, but also NOT at the time I asked. Pick up was 3 hours later than i wanted. When calling to see if this could be changed the man on the other line is horrible at customer service. He was silent for most of the conversation that not only was I lost I wasnt sure I was still on! Sat on the phone simply in silence to hear yeah basically we cant help you. yall need to train your people better or throw the whole building in the trash cuz yall are just as trash
2560 S. Rd Poughkeepsie I called the local number to try & rent a Rug Dr. - What a horrible process!! Wouldve been easier to rip up rug and reinstall new by the time I finished the reservation, got transferred to the wrong place, was told they didnt have any at that location, finally found out the guy was sitting at the Pok location and thats where Im renting from.Incorrectly got transferred to the regional office (karma!) where they got it straightened out, finally.Im picking up my carpet cleaner tomorrow, in Pok, as I wanted. Now please excuse me while I take a nap, Im exhausted.
POUGHKEEPSIE U-HAUL: HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I had a trailer hitch installed and trailer light connection installed a the Poughkeepsie NY U-Haul on 7/20. Last night, (7/29) I had backed the care into the driveway and went in the house. I had to go get something out of the car and I went outside. It was dark and I noticed the green LED lights under my bumper, even though the car is COMPLETELY OFF and locked,I looked closer and saw that lights on the hitch connector were ON, no keys in the car or anywhere near it. Even though these are LED, I realize that this has been draining my vehicles battery for a week. If i hadnt backed in the driveway and gone outside in the dark, I never would have noticed until my car wouldnt start. I called U-Haul NINE TIMES TODAY, I spent over a total of over an HOUR on hold today, not only did no one EVER answer the POK phone #, the two times the call center picked up, they said would send the POK manager a message to call me ASAP, no one EVER called me back. SHAME ON YOU U-HAUL!

HORRIBLE Customer service!! The local office refers you to the call center and the call center refers you back to the local office. The locks they make you use almost make it impossible for you to access your storage unit due to their faulty set up!! Never experienced such horrible service and the manner the reps speak are totally disrespectful and unprofessional!!! Thumbs down !!! Will never use again!
Honestly one of the worst company’s to work with. I work in a mechanic shop and we are doing a body job and I had to waste time going back and forth 2 Time when both times they got the part wrong! The employee I deli with also had no idea they were doing.

Rip off alert ! Even if you need a truck one day, you will need to pay for two days. Sorry company policy. In Poughkeepsie: Seemed odd the truck was not full but three quarters full. I found out this probably a scam being run by the company. When I went to refill the gas gauge seemed to freeze right before 3/4 tank, I kept putting in another 2 gallons, needle wouldnt move, even after starting and stopping engine.Finally after 26 gallons the needle suddenly popped to full. I drove 170 miles, the computer registered 10 mpg the whole way I should have used 17 gallons max. Im very disappointed the the U-HAUL policy that forces you to buy more then you need or want. I needed the truck for only 24 hours but was forced to pay for two days rental. I was able to return the truck early the next day, but still forced pay for two days. They were also very cheap with the included miles, especially since I had to go 12 miles out of my way to pick up the truck in Poughkeepsie vs the facilities closer to my house as originally contracted.Rutland: The gas refill was a total ripoff. Insist on a full tank, because trying to get to 3/4 was impossible. The needle would freeze before 3/4. Either you filled it up or went back short where they would charge you $9 gallon for the difference. Every car rental company I ever used credited you for the extra gas you put in, UHAUL will not. I had to complain very loudly until I finally got a lousy $10 credit for probably over $30 in gas I had to put in extra. This and being forced to pay for two days, I will never use U-HAUL again and pass the word around to my friends, Facebook and Twitter on these shameful practices.
First, I was advised by phone on 8/1, and by confirmation email, to drop off our van at 7am at the Poughkeepsie office for a trailer hitch installation. I live 40 minutes away so got out of the house before 6:30am - with a second car and driver and dropped off the van.Then, the office never returned my calls the entire day despite my calling 7 times first at 2 hr intervals and then every 1/2 hour - YOU CANT PICK UP THE PHONE AS A COURTESY TO TELL A CUSTOMER WHATS GOING ON????Instead of using an answering service which relays messages (or not) to the uhaul office, why dont you pick up your own phone?And, then (when you finally pick up the phone at 6:45pm last night) -you tell me that the hitch was installed and could be picked up. - BUT, since I was an hour and a half away I could not do that so asked if I could pay with a credit card and they could leave the key. They could not do that.THEN, I arrive this morning, and the hitch installer tells me he got to work this morning saw our van and said what is that doing here? - He had not been advised that our van was EVEN ON THE PREMISES THE DAY BEFORE!So, when he finally starts working on it, he breaks off two (2) bolts and advises that it will have to welded on - Now I have the van at an auto repair where they are trying to drill out the broken bolts and retap the hole in order to be able to bolt the hitch on - Unbelievable - Thanks for nothing but aggravation

It’s impossible to ever get anyone on the phone. At any time of the day or week. I have been attempting in vain to try to contact someone from the store for almost two weeks. Once I can get back to the area, I’m canceling the service with them.

One of my worst experiences. They were deceitful and scheduled the reservation for six hours without my knowledge. When I called back they said that the truck would be needed at 8:30 a.m. because they didnt have any trucks. This was a lie, theyre whole lot was full of trucks!
