One of my favorite shops in Portsmouth. The shop contains a thoughtfully curated collection of the elegant, unusual, and delightful. The owner is an interesting fellow (as one would expect) and is happy to answer questions/talk about the wares. This little place is a must-visit for vintage enthusiasts and collectors, as well as anyone who just has an interest in the old, odd, and wonderful.
A shop and a museum! Brought in some old linen sport coats, of “Beach Blanket Bingo” vintage. A fair deal was struck in a courteous way. It is satisfying to know that those old jackets now give comfort to someone else.
Amazing little hidden gem of an antique shop! Tiny shop, but full of treasures!! Some great vintage mens fashion. Will definitely be making it a regular stop whenever Im in Portsmouth. Owner was very friendly & helpful, made the shopping experience that much better!
The owner was knowledgeable and friendly. We ended up buying some really cool ties and tie clips a lot of friends have noticed. Will definitely go back!
Went to check them out for the first time and their hours werent correct on Google Maps. They ended up being closed but it looked great through the windows. Hopefully they will update their hours!
I have nothing but positive regard for this haberdashery. Before passing through the charming entrance of this shop, I had expected to be greeted with a particularly snooty look from an old man with nothing but frail tuxedo jackets of the late 19th century. What I discovered was a beautifully adorned shop with a warm atmosphere accented by early jazz music. Mr. Irish, the owner of the establishment, adds to the aesthetics with his timeless fashion. His inventory covers a large spectrum of menswear, accessories, and vintage oddities from the 18th to the 20th centuries with a majority from the latter. He is particularly well stocked in hats (fedora, ivy league, boaters, other unique headwear), jackets and coats, and quality suits. Since then, I have returned to his shop quite a few times and have always been pleased with our dealings. He always gives a reasonable price and is happy to conduct a fair barter. I recommend a visit to Old as Adam, Vintage Haberdasher and Cabinet of Curiosities, to anyone who happens by the Portsmouth area.
First time there yesterday. Will return when it’s less busy
Poor customer service.
