Today was the first time I’ve been there with my husband and grandson and we enjoyed ourselves. They where cooking lobsters and other sea food outside I got some stuffed fish with a Greek salad with some other great finds and it was good. I am looking forward to returning with a friend sooner than later.
Nice spot, great produce grass fed meats seafood and even fresh oysters. Some prepared foods. No ginger ale, idk why!Pies and cakes etc.Good store mixed location.
This place is good to go if you want to buy something small and healthy is like a mini supermarket. You can find everything healthy and fresh. They also sell small prepared food like sushi, turkey and also baked chicken.
Neat place! Great variety. Recommend for pantry items.I want to love this place, but I keep getting disappointed with the fresh produce. Ive had a Pineapple that was pale white and I couldnt chew it. Tasted gross. Every... single... melon has been a disaster. Unripe, hard cantaloupe. Flavorless watermelons. I just had a watermelon that was goopy and gummy in the center. It was so unusual I gagged. Ive had to get my produce elsewhere, as I toss too much of the produce from here away. You should be good with tubers and greens as you can tell at a glance if they are fresh and tasty.
Love this market!! always helpful fresh fruits and vegtables. Local poultry and seafood. Wish we had one in Woonsocket
I absolutely love Urban Greens! Discovering it was like finding a treasure chest in my backyard. They carry an amazing number of my favorite things, even though the store is small, and I discover other newly-favorite local products that I did not know about. To me, the products seem well and thoughtfully chosen. They also have beautiful plants, several of which are on my windowsill now. Ive found the staff kind, helpful and genuinely friendly, which makes a visit there a real pleasure! :) Its a cooperative venture, and I chose to join after my very first visit. They offer a 5% discount twice a month to members now, and while thats great, I really joined because I think its a venture so worth supporting. Theres also a member plan for people who are struggling, which is a virtue and a sign of hope to me. Thanks so much, Urban Greens -- I am a total fan. A COVID19 note: I am extremely cautious about where I go in person, and Ive felt quite safe here -- the staff have all been masked, it has not been crowded, and they also offer a morning hour for seniors and those at high risk (I think it is 7-8 a.m. weekdays, 8-9 Sunday mornings, but check their website to verify).
Great co-op grocery store. Wide selection of high quality and local products including fresh produce, meats, dairy, and specialty products at reasonable prices. Check out their Facebook page for fun special events featuring local vendors
For the reviewer that complained about food prices… I don’t blame you at all. You are correct - what we feel is ‘OK’ to pay for food is largely psychological. So I would like to help you feel a little bit better about paying a little bit more for food at a co-op.We pay quite a bit less today for food, and spend a smaller percentage of our income, than I believe at any time in the past in the United States. You can look this up and verify for yourself. For example, in 1940 a dozen eggs cost $.40. That would be roughly 6 dollars today. Prices have been kept artificially low. This is why we have the scourge that is factory farming. Raising traditional free-range chickens just isn’t possible for three dollars a dozen.I now try to buy higher quality meat, eggs, etc. I pay more for it, especially to buy local. So I buy a little less, and substitute with rice and beans etc. And I am OK with that.Just something to think about!
Nothing special. Overpriced, with some locally sourced products to fill slots. Staff was not very helpful and everyone looked miserable. Checkout was… well not very thought out and inconvenient. When asked which way to go and cashier gave me an attitude. For no reason. The vibe is suppose to be urban and welcoming. Buttttt….yeah. I dunno how that all went wrong. For a clearer picture, I felt it was the usual Walmart attitudes when you asked for something. Save yourself some time. Thank me later. But if you do happen to go, don’t say I didn’t warn you.
The place sooo nice and the butter rum muffin is fantabulous.
The store is a bit small but makes up for it in carefully curated products. The staff are friendly, down-to-earth people. I sometimes feel like I’m greeted by friends at check out.
Food co-op with many locally grown and produced foods. Love the cookout and prepared foods, too.
Cannot say enough good things about this market. I really hope they are able to continue to build and succeed.
Im a member of this Coop - you dont have to be to shop there -, and I am wheelchair bound.Staff is very helpful, great products - most locally sourced - and, may I add a cherry on that cake, shopping there is also community building.Vigorously recommended, check it out.
Do not go to this store!!!! The people here are rude specially Allyn. They are not nice people. Mr Philip Travertt, you might wanna consider getting someone else bec this woman clearny does not represent you properly and very much does the opposite!
Love shopping here even if its not in my neighborhood. Great selection of produce, meat substitutes, and a decent bulk section. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Nice selection. Healthy foods. Good prices.
Neat. Clean. Expensive to be healthy in an urban area. S/B called Mellinial Greens.
Great little local grocery store that spotlights local products. Good quality produce, nice helpful staff, and a pretty good selection.
Love this place! Fantastic selection, prices, quality & service!
A nice place for Ice Cream. 🙂
Been going to the co-op for over a year, and we love it there! Great place to get fresh produce, locally sourced meat and fish, and a wide range of products from local bakeries and florists. The staff is friendly and also diligent about upholding their safety policies like checking each customers temperature and face covering, so we always feel safe going in.
Whole food, fresh fruits and vegetables and so much more!!
I shop here often. The quality is good but a bit pricey. They have good deals on dairy and occasionally on meat items. Friendly staff.
So excited Urban Greens is open! I think the market is the perfect size - small enough that its a quick shopping trip, but big enough to find everything you need for a recipe. Im happy to see the mix of local / organic and more affordable conventional options. Love that you can bring your own container for bulk items.
I really love the customer service, the produce, and it’s mission.
Pretty awesome place. They have tricycle ice cream, seven stars bread, great produce and a decent cheese and meat section. Also super friendly. Not as expensive as it looks.
Sweet little grocery. The produce selection is fresh and full of variety....even during the fall when most stores only have apples and oranges. Great selections of local goods throughout every department.
I’ve just moved into the neighborhood and love coming into here ! My dog loves coming in too ! great selection of organic goods and very reasonable prices. Officially addicted to their hummus 😍
Very nice and convenient tiny supermarket whith great quality foods and goods while stocked from local vendors and farmers.
Its nice to have a grocery store in Fed Hill, and this is a pretty good one by most standards. The thing I like most about it is the produce section. While things are a little more expensive (that goes for everything in the store) the quality is probably the best Ive seen in Providence. Theres a good selection of gluten-free and vegan items, unfortunately not a great selection of much else. They do events from time to time, theres a kombucha bar, and the people are super friendly. I like the idea of it, being a co-op and what not, and Id like to give it 5 stars but its just a little too pricey and not quite as big an inventory as Id like.
Nice urban store with a decent selection considering the small size of the store. Disappointed it does not sell beer or wine (unless I just missed it). Lots or organics and items that I assume are local or fairly local. Lots of names I have never heard of. Some of the prices were on the high side. Im sure if I lived in the area it would be a go to spot to shop. Friendly staff and clean bathrooms.
I know we are all happy to have them here in the neighborhood and upon going in it looked clean, organized, well-stocked and welcoming.I saw seasonal items like fresh peaches at a normal, reasonable 99 cents a pound. While we all understand that theyre not part of some major supermarket chain where they can buy a particular item at a huge discount and run a loss-leader sale, and I want to qualify this by saying, I dont know if its a generational thing, or if it just comes from growing up poor, but I have had this conversation with many friends and colleagues, and people are very price-sensitive.We love avocados, for instance, but wont pay more than a dollar for an avocado even if we can afford it now. We cannot justify it. We will walk right past. Even if we want one and even if we can afford it.The same thing goes for eggs, never in my wildest dreams would I pay $4 for a carton of 12 eggs. The store had I think three different choices of a dozen eggs, starting from about $4.30 at the low end and the rest were more expensive.I will never buy eggs there. I dont care if God gave birth to those eggs himself. I do not understand a dozen eggs costing over $4 and cant justify it.Certainly, I need to go back and look at things more closely, I did not do a complete assessment of the place, but just dashed in. But I cant get over those kind of prices.
Great place to shop. Good food! Really nice people too.
The best place in Providence for a low waste, friendly, and clean grocery shopping experience. Lots of local and organic options, along with a near perfect bulk section. I’ve run into problems with bringing my own container for bulk foods at whole foods (which kind of defeats the point for me), while it is encouraged and accommodated here. Lots of the same options as the farmers market. Urban Greens will always be my first stop for groceries!
Urban Greens is great. I dont live on the west side, but Im frequently in the area and I pop in here a lot. They have a ton of local produce and most of what youd want from a regular big supermarket, with some minor exceptions. If youre vegan, they have lots of vegan meats and other vegan stuff like you can get at whole foods. The pricing is also very good, I feel. Its definitely an excellent addition to the west side.
As a vegan, I love the variety of products they offer. There are so many specialty items that I can only find at the co-op, not to mention the amazing selection of local produce and the bulk bins that help me to pursue a lower-waste lifestyle
Love going here and its nice to have it so close to home
This is a great little grocery store. Everyone is friendly and the stock is great. The veggies and fruit dont rot the day after you buy them like some other places Ive shopped. Happy to be a coop member!
Friendly staff, great variety of products, never busy. A little pricy but a welcome neighbor.
They require all customers to wear masksEnough said
Its a solid grocery market
Support this coop! The folks there are great. The produce is fresh and amazing. Join up and make a difference in the community.
Love my new neighborhood market. The local produce is like having a farmers market everyday. Lots of unique items to try. The dry pasta brand is the best I have ever bought. The people who work there are very nice too.
Great little market. Good organic options, with reasonable prices and lots of local good, not a large meat selection however. Lots of variety for the amount of space they have
I love shopping here. Its small, cute, and friendly. Although I shop there often, I always find and leave with new goodies.-Alkaline shopper
Love your store
Awesome co-op! The prepared foods for lunch are wonderful. I love that I can get a meal to eat at lunch and bring home food to cook for dinner! My new favorite place
Great little market for a variety of healthy foods and good produce. Very nice people. The store is always super clean.
Awesome market great Manager cooking up lamb and rice, Tahini, my husband cant wait to eat! Ty Urban Greens cant wait to come back!
I like this place cause they sell alot of organic food and products that you can buy and sometimes they have sales. alot of people go here to shop for organic foods and products. they also cook homemade food and make homemade products. they sell expensive products there and food.
Love this place so much, the prices are great, everything is conveniently placed and they have everything I need.
Very friendly The things are very reasonable
Love this place! Fresh produce and local food!!!
Love this place. Sometimes my friend and I go at lunch time and get the day old food in little containers. Like baked veggies or pulled pork, baked mac...
Ill only go here in case of a grocery emergency. There are several things to complain about, like how Trader Joes is cheaper, anyone ever hired by Traders is friendlier and more helpful than the staff here, but the real reason to stay away from this place is they wont have what youre looking for.I think theyve had the prosciutto I was looking for once, they were missing the cheese I wanted the other day, didnt have any ground beef, no pork chops, no sourdough bread, and amazingly were not carrying chicken breast the other day.I guess this place works if youre vegan? Ive never left this place with everything I came to get. Sometimes the meals I have planned can dance around it, and other times Im forced to go to a different store. Not having any meat the other day was my last attempt at using this as a replacement for a regular grocery store. Its unfortunate because I would have liked to support my local farmers while also having the convenience of a store a couple blocks from my house.
Great new spot with a really nice produce section. Theyve usually got something new that I generally wouldnt be able to find anywhere else. Staff is always very friendly as well.
Best grocery store in Providence. Locally owned and well run. Love their bulk section (which is currently closed due to COVID-19 protocol).
Excellent selection of organic and vegan products
Lovely neighborhood grocery, with a good selection of local produce and meat, and great staff.
Place is excellent. Only concern I have is with the sweet potato. It is barely bought (I guess) because I have picked out a few rotten ones (different occasions). When I get home and slice them open they are no good.
Excellent grocery store. Highly recommended.
Amazing store for its size. The produce was fresh and lots of it was local. Prices were great. Looking forward to shopping here regularly.
Its nice having a grocery store on the west side for specialty items that i cant find at price-rite. Prices are about the same as whole foods. Its smaller than whole foods though. I come here probably once a week. With that being said, some (not all) of the staff members can be pretty standoffish, making me feel a bit uncomfortable sometimes. I dont expect an all-smiles service, its just sometimes the way a couple go about interacting with me makes me feel like Ive done something wrong.... Im just tryin to get in and out with my groceries!
The store is very clean, friendly, a good selection of food. It is a bit pricey. I will continue to go to the store.
A decent sized store with everything you need. Has a huge selection of gluten free and vegan options which is great for when I’m shopping for clients.Whole Foods type pricing. Some things I thought were really cheap and others I was surprised at how much it was BUT a lot ended up being cute small local businesses which I think is worth paying extra for. Spent about the same as I would spend at WholeFoods on the same amount of groceries but it’s closer to my house and had less traffic at it. Check out was fast and easy even at 6pm (which is usually packed and takes forever at other grocery stores)There’s a person who bags your groceries for you there as well at the end of the register to speed it up even more.Has a little salad bar set up with fancy olives etc, a soup to go station and a small hot meal to-go bar with like rice and fish and stuff like that.Safe Bike parking rack outside etc. I think it’s a nice medium sized market and i will come back
Cute little market with a lot of variety. The staff were super friendly and knowledgable. Its a great addition to the area.
Very clean, organized, bulk items, many products. Just bought 6 eats of born for 2.99! Cant wait to eat them!
It was really nice. Much more than I expected. Hope it does well. Ill go back again
Convenienceeeeee. Fast stop for all the basics you need when eating clean.
Love the attention to detail
Great local co-op!
The market is a little expensive on some things, but its farm-grown and organic meats. I will return to purchase more vegetables and fruits.
Would love to be able to buy bulk shampoo etc to decrease plastic use.
Good place. prices are the same like wholes foods.
Nice grocery store local produce.
Excellent place, wish they had bulk shopping!
Organic and conventional options in my neck of the woods. I like this place a lot.
Very friendly and helpful staff..highly recommend..
Good greens, low key shopping
Yes. Its the best grocery store in Providence.
