I learned a lot with Jeff. He provided options and good ideas for what I needed. I was looking for a simple set up for portrait shots. I didn’t get the feeling I was being up sold. Good service, prices and expertise.
My GO TO camera shop. They are THE BEST! They have saved me so many times!!! I appreciate how great they are at helping you choose what gear to get. They always do a great job cleaning my gear. I recently went mirrorless and I was very nervous about it, but they helped me through it all and I am SO glad I did.
The staff is always so helpful when I come here. I got my old Nikkormat film camera from here and also a flash for it. Reasonable prices! Definitely recommend for all of your photography needs!
This place is well organized and a great place to find any camera gear you need. However most of their stuff is for camera photography only. There is not much here for the cellphone photographer. That said, the staff is super friendly and helpful. I was able to get a CF card for my camera no problem.
I have had nothing but good experiences in this store. I purchased my first real camera from them. They explained everything simply and clearly. I was even able to take a class to learn more about my Nikon DSLR.I have since been in several times over the years to purchase Nikon Speedlight flash, lens ugrades, lighting accessories, batteries, cards etc. It is so great to have a local brick and mortar store where they actually talk you through and explain things to you. They even told me NOT TO BUY something because I didnt need it. Who does that anymore? The staff at Peace have helped me grow into a much better photographer. Thank you Peace Camera for being there for newbies and helping us grow in experience and knowledge. Yall are awesome!
Dont waste your time here. Horrible trade in values. Several times Ive had the store down the road beat them by significant amounts.
Twice I needed help with two items that most people would have charged me for and they took care of it for free. Very friendly and helpful because of that I did make a purchase there later on and well be doing that going forward.
Great customer service and insight! I stopped by today to have a lens checked for calibration issues. Brian spent a ton of time talking me through what he found and gave me great recommendations. Its so much better to talk directly to a knowledgeable sales person instead of scouring youtube videos and forums. Ill definitely be back!
The first time I went in with my old camera and lenses and walked out with new knowledge on how to take great pictures using what I already had. There was no hard sell -- just solid customer service from people who have a true passion for photography. Ive been back since, made some purchases and always receive great service even when the store is busy.
Knowledgeable folks that wont take advantage of individuals that are new or just flat out ignorant to photography/cameras.
The reason behind the 5 stars is the one on one quality service the offer. Then they will inform you of the situation before making any decisions to purchase. I have been in there 3 times and each time satisfactory. You can’t go wrong with Peace Camera.
Knowledgeable and friendly staff.Fair pricing.Just ask and likely they will have just what you need tucked away somewhere.
Very helpful vendors. They got me started on my home-made video studio.
It was great I came in to get some color film and the employee there helped me make an informed decision that didnt take a long time. If been coming to peace camera for a long time and couldnt be more satisfied with the great service will return again
Great customer service clean store will be coming here more often
It is a good camera store with a good selection of cameras both old and new.And if youre into film, they have a good selection of film.
I went there today for the first time. I was very pleased with the service that I received . Gabriella was extremely knowledgeable and understanding of my photography needs. She was very accommodating to the budget I had, and this allowed me to not only purchase the lens that I went in there for, but also 2 filters and a monopod. And if that wasn’t enough, she also cleaned my camera for FREE. The prices were fair and reasonable.Thank You Peace Camera.Thank You Gabriella.
Peace Camera is by far the best camera store in Raleigh. I have used their services for many years and have purchased both new and used equipment, all of which is superior in quality. Their prices are very reasonable too. The thing that sets Peace Camera apart from all others is their knowledge and willingness to help! Great product, pricing and superior customer service!
I actually have had the best luck with this place. They are super organized, super helpful, and they really care about photography. Quick story for why this place is so great. I picked up a Minolta SRT 101 at a thrift shop for fun, didn’t know a thing about photography (I still have a lot to learn.) I googled these guys and went in with the camera to pick up some film. Well what blew me away is that they said they could look at it for a few minutes and asset the integrity of the camera at no cost to me and the guy then explained how to load/unload the film. After that I was looking at filters and the guy said my advice to you is that you only buy based on your need plus you will have a higher quality shot if you learn first. He was correct. These guys aren’t after a quick buck they care about quality photography. When I make the plunge into a higher tier digital they will be the guys I go to first.
Great staff that is ready to make a deal, very smart and customer oriented. Prices are reasonable and can see myself making more purchases in the future. I am pleased to say that I have not received any attitude from the staff but that may vary from customer to customer, I hope this isnt the case.
Great local shop with good trade in selection
Guys were very helpful and listened to our needs. Easy transaction. Awesome experience.
Good place - and a real camera shop! They have an assortment of new and used lenses (the reason I go), as well as new and used camera bodies.Great selection of camera bags and backpacks as well. Always nice to be able to hold one instead of guessing from a picture online.Lots of accessories, and as with all things they range in price from reasonably inexpensive to I want to look like I shoot for Vogue or National Geo.Staff is... Interesting. Knowledgeable and willing to answer questions. You do have to speak up to get help, as they normally will leave you alone if you do not indicate that you walked in to buy something right then and are not interested in looking around. I personally like this, as I usually go there to purchase a lens or accessory, and also like to browse around some without someone breathing on my neck to push a sale.Would highly recommend them. Support local businesses!
Horrible service and experience. I have tried Peace camera several times but they are just rude and unprofessional to customers. I actually had one of the guys behind the counter sigh in annoyance when I asked to see a lens. I asked to look at one lens and you act that way? I asked about prices and they made it seem like I asked them to cure cancer. The biggest issue I have is they treat you like an idiot and I have seen them do this to other possible customers. I have seen them treat customers that are going to spend a good amount of cash with way more respect and give them a great customer experience. What a shocker, you treat people that will spend a butt load of money at your store with more respect. They act very elitist when you are talking with them about a particular product. I have been photographing professional bands and musicians for years and I am not an idiot when it comes to gear. Stop treating your customers as if they are wasting your time and get over your elitists attitude. You lost a customer for life and I would not recommend your store to anyone.
Novice photographer here! I came in looking to replace a kit lens that I broke and they did not have one in stock. The nice gentleman did sell me a 70 mm lens for my Nikon, gave me a very informative lesson on appature, told me about an up coming class, cleaned my lenses and mirror and not once made me feel like a beginner. I highly recommend Peace Camera to anyone with little to no knowledge because they dont mind actually answering questions and help you find what is right for your needs. I drove an hour one way to go here, and I doubt that I will ever go anywhere else!!!
I inherited a Canon AE-1 that needed some small maintenance. Brandon helped me on two separate visits and got the camera fixed up for me. Wonderful customer service and lots of great knowledge. I highly recommend this shop.
Great place to purchase, buy, have repaired cameras, and camera accessories. Personnel are friendly, helpful and will not just sell you something, cause you walked in. One of the best camera stores I have ever been in.
I went in for a relatively low priced, used item. The salesman that helped me was very knowledgeable. I inquired about a few other upgrades and I truly feel like he steered me in the right direction even though it meant a lower sale for them. Im very happy with my lense upgrade and Peace Cameras customer service. I will definitely return when Im ready to upgrade my camera body!
Good hometown service personnel, reasonable price, and selections.
Very helpful staff, a good selection, and competitive prices. Im really glad to have a place like this nearby!
I had one of the best customer service experiences at Peace Camera. The gentleman who helped me, Brian, was very courteous and patient. I am a beginning photographer, and not knowing much made me nervous to check out cameras, but the staff made me feel at ease, and I didnt feel rejected for not knowing much about photography. I left the store, camera in hand, very happy with not only my purchase, but my experience with Peace Camera.
My wife and I had a wonderful experience at Peace Camera today. We stopped in to get some advice on a problem we had with a memory card. Brandon came to the rescue, and patiently and professionally assisted us.Although we were not in the market to buy anything, Brandon treated us like we were his best customer...very impressive. When we are in the market for a camera, we will definitely visit Peace Camera and Brandon. Great employees, great business.
Love this place! Ive bought close to $2,000 dollars worth of equipment from them and it hasnt let me down yet! The staff all have great advice through years of experience in the profession, I highly recommend talking with Bryan. Very attentive and very helpful!
I brought a used Nikon F5 film camera and they were very kind and easy to talk with. They went above and beyond the call and put in fresh batteries for the camera, a strap and lens cap all at no extra charge. I was basically ready to start taking photos when I left Peace Camera Supply. They also carry an assortment of film for those of us who still enjoy the finer quality that film provides over digital.
Love the people at Peace Camera! Stopped in there a few times and have gotten nothing but awesome customer service from past experiences. Recently got a film camera as a gift from a family member, but the camera wasnt working. Dropped the camera off to have fixed, it was fixed quickly, and was fixed for a lot cheaper than expected! They arent there to rip you off in anyway and are extremely helpful when purchasing or looking at equipment. Support your local businesses people, these guys deserve it!!
I attended a great Photography 101 class tonight at Peace Camera. It was more theoretical than practical, but still very good. Staff is super knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. Ill definitely go to the next class.
Bought a used Leica M9 and it was better than I had expected. It arrived quickly and was carefully packed. Would highly recommend them.
Went in today & got camera lens cleaned. Also learned a little more about my camera. Even bought a remote. Thank you for the great help. I many live a little bit away but worth the 1/2 he drive. My pictures are much sharper now.
Went in to look at used cameras, as I wanted something to learn on. Jef helped me - sort of. He was more interested in chatting with his regulars and employees (that were off-shift) than me - as I was interrupted multiple times. Honestly, I should have left and went elsewhere.
I am from NC but I have been living in Indianapolis for the last 5 years. I had the pleasure of doing business at Roberts Camera where they bent over backwards to make customers feel welcome. I went into Peace on Saturday and saw one customer at the counter and 5, 6 or 7 employees gathered around him to facilitate a trade. Even after wondering around the entire store, not ONE person spoke to us until we glared at the young lady behind the counter, who then handed us off to someone, who, like the other posters mentioned, seemed annoyed to help us. Your customer service is abysmal. It was before you moved, I had higher hopes. I ll shop online from Roberts, they appreciate my business. A bit of advice, go down to Chic-fil-a and see how they treat people buying a $6 sandwich. Take some notes, notice how they look you in the eye, provide good service. Bring that experience back to your store and train employees to respect customers. I wouldnt buy anything from your store.
Positive first time experience at Peace Camera today. Jim listened to my goals and helped me try out each lens and make a good choice. Pressure free! Bonus, I learned several new tips too!
Great customer service
I absolutely love Peace Camera, and everyone who works there. They are always willing to answer questions and guide me in the direction I need for product. As a photographer, having reliable individuals for all my camera needs is not just crucial, it is a requirement.
Best camera shop Ive ever had the pleasure inside! Jim B. and staff were absolutely top notch. You dont get that kind of service at Best Buy or Walmart. They have so much knowledge and experience its definitely worth your time swinging by! Thanks again Jim, Ill be back!
I spoke to someone on the phone that was the worst salesperson Ive spoken to in a long time. They were only interested in talking about what they had in stock to sell, they were not interested in finding out what was best for my needs (and when I called him out on it, he said, well yeah). He told me that he did not know everything about every camera, in a real crabby tone. I even asked about a camera that they could order for me, and he was not interested in talking about it, again, only what they had in stock (which apparently is not much for a specialty camera store). I had to hang up on him before I got so mad that I said something that could not be printed here. I will never call, visit, recommend, or look at their website again. Just google camera stores and you find much much better. I would go to Walmart and ask them for help or making a purchase before going here. Im heading over to the nice, helpful, and smart folks at Southeastern Camera. Peace Camera would have gotten no stars if that was a option.
Great film selection...and random parts for various cameras. They have a vast collection of cameras and lenses with pretty good prices. Check out the $1 a roll film box!
Staff is helpful, knowledgeable, friendly and patient. Excellent variety of equipment in stock. My favorite camera store in North Carolina.
Bought a studio lighting set up and was pleased to price check online later. We saved $20 per stand and got great advice and help. We also sold older equipment and received fair trade-in value. Definitely will return.
I want to give them 4 or 5 stars but cant due to the service and declining stock. I still enjoy going in from time to time but I am afraid the employees are just to burned out or indifferent to send a new person there. One of the few remaining real camera stores in raleigh so if you are coming to town you might as well check out both. The other is South Eastern. A number of pros still go here but not my 1st choice for a beginner.
Took my daughters camera in thinking it would need to be shipped off for repairs. Staff spent about 15 minutes figuring out the issue. Camera works again! Best part besides the camera working? No charge for the service!
What a beautiful store. Great bunch of helpful people. You will find all the camera gear you will possibly need.
Very tough staff to work with. Typical attitude is we only deal with what interests us.If you ask for anything special, look up a product availability, special orders, or just odd questions, you may get an answer if they know it outright. However, most of the time they are inhospitable and will visibly be annoyed while delaying as much as possible. On my third and final time visiting this store, I called ahead asking if something was available and got a yes. I arrived at the store and I walk up to the counter asking for the specific flash diffuser and get the answer we never carried that product. I traveled from over 12 miles to find out I was lied to on the phone. That was the last straw, most of the staff cannot be bothered with helping.
They have everything you will need. whether you are a beginner or a pro. However, some of the guys can be snobby sometimes. On the other hand, there are some really cool guys. I usually go straight to the desk to the left after you walk into the store
Had a great experience. Jim Brusso helped me pick out the a great telephoto lens and helped but me at ease from all the confusion of reviews and what the Pros were using. For my skill level, experience and knowledge, Jim knew exactly what I was looking for. I really want to thank him and his time and the guys there at Peace Camera. Everyone was really laid back no sales pressure just pure passion for photography and sharing knowledge. I would highly recommend Jim and Peace Camera to anyone whether you are just starting out or have been into photography for years and an experienced veteran. Definitely need to check these guys out even if its just to look around. Thanks Jim and Peace Camera!
Great staff that is very friendly and knowledgeable. Found a great deal on a used lens and saved me money.
Knowledgeable is not a word I would use to describe the people I talked to. I really wanted to buy something from them, but the high pressure and poor customer service was just too much. The kid I talked to at first was friendly but an older guy wanted to tell me that scratches and dust dont affect image quality... I hate to think that people are attempting to become educated from the workers here. The other staff may be fine, but I didnt get to talk with them. Bottom line, I dont want to spend my money here
Been there a few times, both old and new locations. Super helpful; they took the time to answer my questions and demo things when needed. Admittedly their used selection can be hit and miss but otherwise excellent place for camera shenanigans.
This is a real camera store...a rarity in the modern world. As professional photographer it is impossible to know about every single camera, lens, and piece of lighting equipment. I support this business with my own money so it remains a resource for knowledge to help me solve problems! The culture of the place may startle at first...the staff is a bit acerbic. Get over it and support a local camera store.
Ive been coming to Peace Camera for over 10 years and have nothing but great things to say. Ive purchased a lot of camera gear from here and Geoff has always been very helpful. Thanks for keeping it local!
As a professional photographer, in my opinion, they are the best in the Raleigh area. Very friendly and cleaned my camera while I was there.
Getting back into photography and needed a few things... found them here... great folks... looking forward to going back for more stuff.
Awesome place for all of you photography needs. Great for any camera buff. Buy and sell, new and used. Theyve got it all.
Absolutely incredible experience. Friendly, informative staff that helped me choose the right gear for my needs.
Wonderful service. Very affordable used lenses.
The reviewers who give negative reviews may have valid points in their cases, but Ive been very satisfied with the service theyve provided over the last 6 years. Ive purchased multiple film and digital bodies, lenses and accessories from them and have always been satisfied. They will even clean your camera sensor for free.As far as being told that Steve is the only one who would work on a camera I can tell you from personal experience that is a good thing. He has worked on several of my cameras and there is nobody else in Raleigh that does in depth repairs in house. If you ever have a problem just ask for Geoff, you will get better results than complaining on the internet!
Staff was very pleasant and knowledgeable. I was able to find all the different film I needed like 120 and Fuji Instax Square Instant film.
Great place for new or used photography equipment. Helpful staff.
Not a lot to write about but it is a family owned camera shop specializing in high end lens and attachments. They carry a sizable selection of tripods and lighting options. They do sell Go-Pro but they have a higher price for the previous body numbers.
This was a great find accidentally one day as a road warrior in Raleigh. There was a guy behind the counter that was very patient with me looking at all the used cameras and lenses. They have a great selection and good prices on used stuff. Ill be back for sure as I add to my photography equipment collection.
Bless this small camera store for existing. We need more of these. Good place, good people.
Awesome staff they really make you feel at home and patient im horrible with words and trying to convey my point but the staff answered all my questions!
I dont usually take time write to many reviews but I felt compelled to share my experience today. I am all about supporting small business, but this is my third time walking into this store and not one time have I had a positive experience. I walked around in the store for about 8-10 minutes and no one said a word to me. There were 4 staff members there and 2 if the females were behind the counter playing on there smart phones and one was with a customer. I was kind if taken back that not once did anyone ask if I had any questions or if I was looking for anything particular or even a hello for that matter. Small business 101...speak to your customers and provide. Customer service or they will find there items online at a cheaper price. The only thing they could have ignored me differently would have been customer service but I failed to get that either so I will be going to the other side of town to spend my money at my usual camera shop where Im always greeted and serviced!
Great Staff! Extremely friendly and willing to assist.
Tremendous! I am a freelance editorial shooter for the Wall Street Journal and I always love going to Peace Camera when I am up from Pinehurst. They are a great resource.
Always enjoy going in here. Super helpful!
Knowledgeable and friendly staff with a good selection in store and can order nearly anything you need. Support your local stores!
Great staff and product selection. The new location feels more spacious and inviting.
Does a fantastic job with customers. Had both cameras sensors cleaned as well.
Had what I needed today and in times past. Im a very satisfied customer!
Had a lens cleaned. Great service.
Great camera shop with tons of excellent 2nd hand equipment. Worth checking out at least once
I had a badly bent pin in the CF slot of my 5D which is useless without a memory card. I could have sent it off to Cannon to likely replace the entire card slot, BUT the folks at Peace fixed it for me in 5 minutes for free, saving me at least $400.
I am leaving Raleigh and Peace Camera is one of the only things I will miss. You guys are AWESOME :)
Brian was enormously helpful. What a friendly and helpful bunch of people these folks are. THANK YOU!
While vacationing near Atlantic Beach, NC, I discovered I failed to pack the charger for my Nikon P7000, A couple emails and a phone call was all it took to have a replacement on our porch the next day. (I contacted three Raleigh shops, and Peace was the only one to respond.)
My girlfriend went up there to sell a Pentax film camera and the guy said he needs to take it to the back to see if it “passes the test” when they came back they said they had too many of them already. The camera my girlfriend got back has a huge black line in the viewfinder that it didn’t have before and I don’t think it’s the same camera she gave them. Beware this company is shady.
Ive been in here 4 times and Im baffled that people give this store a high rating. Their prices are astronomical. There is one associate there that is so arrogant he inspired me to never step foot in there again. Im not a professional by any means. Instead of helping they talk down to you like youre a idiot. Did I mention that the arrogant one laughs in your face when you have a question??? Seriously.. this place is no place for a beginner. By the time you leave youll want to give up the hobby all together.
Awesome staff! Super educational and friendly.
Disclaimer: I havent actually purchased anything here. However, the reason for that is that Ive had fairly bad experience with customer service once in person at the store and once over the phone. Maybe I just got unlucky, but I feel like the reason to go to a local shop over Amazon is customer service.
Great selection, reasonable prices, very knowledgeable and friendly staff!
Good prices - people willing to help - not pushy it trying to sell you something you dont need
Love this place I go there weekly
The staff is very knowledgeable and personable. I’ve been in a couple of times, each for a different reason, and each time I am greeted with a smile and a “How can I help with you?”
Good source for camera equipment, even the old stuff.
Great for both new and even used camera equipment.
Every time I go in, Im met with friendly people and helpful advice.
The staff is always very helpful.
Not many real camera shops left great place
