I came in to this place for the first time ever and they had the best customer service. The employees were super nice, they answered all of my questions, helped me find better camera and made you feel welcomed again. Walked in looking to buy my first point & shoot. Although I did not walk out with one, I learned SO much. Customer service was great. Everybody in the store was welcoming and friendly but still very knowledgeable and professional which was why I was able to immediately start looking at all the cameras, lenses, and other hardware at my leisure. I drove over an hour to visit the store because there arent any camera stores close to where I live and it was not only well worth it but Ill definitely be going back again sometime soon. 5 outta 5 and then some, highly recommended. I was able to trade in some equipment I didnt use any more and they even let me try some high end lenses with my main camera.

Have used johnnie and jamie for color prints of all sizes for several years. they always do a high quality job with a quick turnaround time. and, they want you to be happy with the outcome--even re-doing a job if you want something tweaked just so. nice to have an old-time, specialty retailer like this in town.

Its nice to be able to buy what I need locally. They carry a good supply of seamless backdrop paper. Its a convenient downtown location.

Needed my Sensor cleaned and wasn’t going to get there until they closed. They told me to come on through anyways and they’ll take care of it. This store seemed more like friends wanting to help than a normal uptight business! I’ll be visiting them more often!!!Their used lenses should definitely come down in prices though haha

Jamie helped me get some old 35 mm film developed. The rolls were like 25 years old, but he got some nice images from the film, and I couldnt be happier. Great service and honest awesome people at this shop. Highly recommended!

Tony at the Southeastern Camera in Raleigh has the patience and carefulness of a saint. I know nothing about photography, but my aunt gave me this old Eumig C16 movie camera that belonged to someone in my grandparents generation, and it had film in it. I called around asking if I could have someone get the film out safely and digitize it for me. Southeastern was the only place that said possibly. I took in the camera and Tony explained that they dont process movie film, but that he would see what he could do about taking the film out so I could get it processed elsewhere. Tony spent about an hour, very carefully fiddling with the camera in a black box, explaining to me as he worked what he was doing. After much very patient effort, he managed to get the film out, and put it in a black bag to keep it safe. He even cleaned the lenses for me, and emailed me the instructions he found online for using the camera. I am delighted.

I was at a loss for an amazing gift for my husband. He loves so many things but loses interest quickly. I have been working on finding an amazing telescope because my husband is mesmerized by the cosmos. Tony, the owner, went above and beyond to make my husbands dreams come true. We drove from Wilmington so I could put my hands on a Sony and see if I was ready to take the jump from Nikon. Jason and Kelly were awesome, very patient and knowledgeable . I wanted to explore some lens options for my Sony a6000 and went to the Atlantic Ave location. Their inventory was fantastic and only outdone by their customer service. They were very patient and helpful, as well as eager for me to try several lenses. I cannot recommend this business enough and I will be returning in the future.

Im familiar with DSLRs but I recently bought a Pentax film camera because I want to get into film photography and learn more about it. The only experience I have with film cameras were those cheap disposable ready-to-go ones growing up; so basically I know nothing. I went in yesterday and was blown away with the knowledge and patience of the staff. So many people can be so stuck up or snobbish to beginners and amateurs, or annoyed by questions. The gentleman I spoke to (unfortunately I didnt catch his name) would ask me if I had experience with this or that and when I said no he kindly explained everything. He walked me through setting up the film, how I would take it out, and how some of the different parts worked. He also explained the different films they have and not once did he make me feel embarrassed about not knowing anything.Im glad I found this place. I would much rather spend my money at a locally owned place than a big chain store and I also like having somewhere i can go in person if I need help or have questions, as opposed to online shopping. I will definitely be returning!

As soon as the camera became available, he called me, and even went out of his way to hand-deliver the camera to UPS so it could make it to me via next-day air. Honestly, this place is a mess. Have no idea how anything is organized—it looks like an episode of “Hoarders.” Staff is too busy to help with questions or just ignored me. They probably enjoy a lot of business thanks to the schools but online retailers might whip them into shape. One can only hope.

I decided to go to Southeastern Camera because I saw all the positive reviews. Unfortunately I did not have as great of an experience as I thought I would. I was approached in a cold manner by one of the employees and I was asked several times by him What do you want, what are you looking for?, he did not greet me at all. I took a look around the store after finding the item I went in to purchase. I was approached by another employee who asked me not to record the store. She was very loud and caused other customers in the store to stare. It was embarrassing because I was not recording or taking pictures I had just pulled my phone out to answer a call. They also have no audio or video recording signs around the store and I saw them. It became really uncomfortable after that so I decided to hurry up and purchase the item I came to get so I could leave. I wish I had a better experience.

I hear this place has mixed reviews, but I usually speak to Tony, he’s friendly and super willing to help out.The place is a bit cluttered with photography stuff but to my eyes it’s photography heaven.I usually rent out my lenses here, it’s just under $27 for a day .I’m happy with them.

The employees are consistently kind, professional, and knowledgeable every time I go in. When they didnt have the special adaptor product in stock that I was looking for, they even looked on some competitors sites to see if I could get it elsewhere in time.

As a novice hobby photographer, I came here to explore my options as far as lenses for my Nikon DSLR. I left this lovely store knowing more than I have learned in 10 years from the internet. The staff is absolutely wonderful and welcoming. I never once felt like my current, limited knowledge was inept or lacking. I will absolutely return for EVERY future purchase instead of larger name stores (looking at you, Best Buy).

I bought a flash from here and to no fault of the store the flash was not working properly. Not only did they send it to Nikon to be repaired for me.. they also allowed me to borrow one of their flashes while I waited for mine back. Amazing customer service! Highly recommend this shop, especially if youre looking for used equipment. I buy all my filters here, they have stacks of used filters and they dont charge much for them. Of course they have all the camera equipment you could ever need as well. If youre thinking of ordering online, stop by here first. I bet youll find prices are similar and youll be putting money in the local economy.

I’ve been going to SE for nearly a decade. When I started my business, I was quickly turned off by another local store, who seemed less than enthused to help a beginner. Their mistake- I’ve purchased multiple bodies, lenses and lighting all locally with the help of SE and wouldn’t change a thing! They are patient and knowledgeable and will get you an answer if they don’t know it right away.

Every time I go to this store I feel respected and get quality service. I dont get pressure to buy anything, no one rolls their eyes at me if I have a questions about a lens and most of all they do not treat me like an idiot. Worked with a great guy named Neeto (sp?) to trade in my old camera gear for a new system. He was super knowledgeable and patient as I explored the new system and handled the trade-in with no problems. Trade-in pricing was quite fair and so much easier than trying to sell the old kit piecemeal. Would recommend these guys for all your photographic needs!

I was looking for a good camera to take on vacation and use for family photos. I was a little intimidated by the whole camera culture and the perceived complexity of the newer digital cameras. The staff at Southeastern in Raleigh was exceptional. Very knowledgeable, very low pressure and very patient. I visited several times before making a decision. Each time they were great. Never any pressure and never tried to over sell. I highly recommend them to anyone. The service and knowledge is something you dont get from online or big box stores and the prices were as, or more competitive.

They are AMAZING here. Everyone who works here is so caring and friendly, and they attract nice customers because of this! I had a trade to bring in for new gear I needed to swap out that other shops were difficult to work with, and they made it a seamless process and did everything in their power to find me what I needed. I was having an absolute terrible day until I stepped foot into their shop. Any place that is as invested in their customers as the shop owner and employees here are, has me invested in them for life! It looks like organized chaos, but these folks have the inventory and know what they are talking about! Lots of new and used gear to choose from, and the rental department is extremely helpful for occasional needs. Reasonable prices, too. If they dont have it in one store, they quickly check their other stores for availability.

I have been a patron of Southeastern Camera for about 7 years now, and from day one their service has been exceptional! They have always been kind, helpful and have always exceeded my expectations in regards to their gear recommendations and customer service. The people in the rentals department are some of my favorite folks. I can easily spend 30 minutes or so, just chatting with Molly, Charles and Neeto.This past weekend, I rented an item and mistakenly left it at the store. I called the rentals department to let them know and to ask them to cancel the item because I wouldn’t have enough time to pick it up before my assignment. Charles went above and beyond to bring the item to my shoot location! I would highly recommend Southeastern to any photography lover.

This is a rarity in the world. Its a real camera store!. They are very friendly and helpful people here. They treat me well and dont act like they know more than I do. Heres a secret, the prices here are same as the New York camera stores. Or even better. They will take almost anything in trade and treat you fairly. I highly recommend. Go see them. Look for the yellow sign by the road.

So many items for photographers of all kinds! The people who work there are very friendly and personable. I brought my 3 kids with me and one of the guys was having a conversation with them and telling awesome jokes. They looked over my new to me yashica-c camera to be sure it would operate.

I dont know what took me so long to stop by here. I was having the worst day. Everything that could go wrong seemed to do so. Jamey went above and beyond to help. My card was missing over 600 photos he was able to recover them and even stayed after hours to make sure everything was good to go. I love this place, i hate this place. I love that the staff is so knowledgable, has and knows all about what you want. I hate that secs has things i want when i go in there, have things i want in the future, and tempt me every time i walk in the door. This time i walked in for a used prime lens and nearly bought a new x-pro3 which i prolly will do soon cause it felt so good in my hands.

I purchased my Profoto A1 ( the only place in this region that sold it) from them the staff are great, spend time showing you how equipment work and they have plenty of everything in stock.I was able to get my firmware updated on my camera and lens calibrated.
