We had reservations for a 12 top and although our server was nice, it took 50 minutes to get drinks and food over an hour. (Largely out of her control, I had to guess.) Of note, they were out of many items: egg nog (featured cocktail), sweet potatoes (in a dish ordered by three of our guests), and mashed potatoes (also in a dish). Once food arrived, everyone seemed pleased with their selections, including my vegetarian buffalo chicken sandwich which was too generous of a portion to finish. This would easily be four or five stars if they can button up timing and inventory.
Went for a late lunch this week, and loved everything. I love that they have both vegan and regular options on the menu.Started with the fried pickles, which were spears instead of chips, and they were phenomenal. The breading was so crunchy, and the vegan ranch they came with tasted better than regular ranch.I had the shrimp Po boy with chips (and asked for more vegan ranch, its that good). Loaded with shrimp and flavor. The Pico tasted fresh and delicious.Wife had the soy chicken buffalo sandwich. She was ecstatic over the flavor. Honestly, I tried it too and the gorgonzola and buffalo sauce were fantastic. Might have to order that myself next time.Service was quick and food was great!
Went here for the first time back in 2018, on December 23rd during brunch hours with our vegan friends & had a convinient menu that works for all. Im no vegan myself but wow, the vegan wings tasted authentic as the real thing! The meals were appetizing! The overall mood and setting of the location is laid back and retro. Awesome customer service, our server was attentive and courteous. Will return again in the future.
Great food and service. We are visiting from out of state.I am vegan and had the Impossible Burger, great! Everyone else is not vegan but enjoyed their meal too. Vegan BBQ sandwich, The Real Burger, and a Deli Sandwich.I do wish they has a few more options for the kids menu that was none vegan meats.I would definitely go back and try other items on the menu! THANK YOU!Update: Came back a second day and got the veggie meatball sub, and my child got the vegan dog! We both enjoyed out meal!
Why can’t there be 4.5 stars.. Everything was great but the food that I ordered seemed bland. I got the tempeh sandwich, a side garden salad with a lemon tahini dressing and the french onion soup. Giving the benefit of the doubt it could be just what I ordered. But I make similar sauces and sandwiches at home that have tons of flavor and these were just so bland. The lemon tahini dressing wasn’t very good to me. It was a little bitter and dry so it didn’t make to good for salad dressing. On a positive note I love the look and feel of this place. The staff were all so friendly. There is lots of seating. Parking is difficult, I had to park about a quarter mile away. The remedy serves a lot of those alternative meats and cheeses that are vegetarian friendly but for somebody who eats vegan/plant based it was a little difficult for me picking things on the menu. Because of the diet I eat I have to eat a lot of plant based calories and this is the Remedy is more for alternatives. I still loved it and I would go back for fun, but it wasn’t what I thought it would be.
Traveling far out of state, the waitresses gave us some opinions as to what we should check out in the area. I was pleased to have a nice glass of wine, and be able to enjoy a black bean burger (which didnt taste like a burger, but instead much like my mothers homemade stuffing... 10/10) while my boyfriend has his BLT. The art was fun to look at, and the home made pie delicious!
My son had recently eaten here with his girlfriend and suggested we come tonight. Im glad he suggested it. The place was extremely busy so our service was not the best, we had to actually ask another server to get ours to tell drinks. But, when the food arrived it made up for the lack of service. I ordered the vegan chicken volcano sandwich and it was just out of this world. We also had the flash fried broccoli appetizer which all by itself might be worth coming for. And the house made blueberry basil lemonade was just awesome. Ill definitely be back, just hope the service will improve a bit.
Came to The Remedy Diner with my family after hearing about how highly acclaimed their vegan options are. Their Non-chicken Wings were superb. Its the first time I had wings since I stopped eating meat and they were everything I could have wanted. For our main courses we each got BBQ, two of the vegan and one of the pulled pork. Again, we were extremely impressed by the consistency and flavor of the meat substitute. My mom was thrilled because she doesnt like fat in her meat and now shell never have to worry about that again. My grandmother loved the pulled pork and more importantly the collards. This is the first restaurant weve been to where Ive seen her actually eat all the greens. Normally theyre not up to her standards. She LOVED these ones!I will absolutely be coming here again to satiate my wing and BBQ cravings.
Disappointed with my most recent visit to the Remedy Diner. Ive eaten here regularly for over a year and have had mostly positive experiences. When I visited for Saturday brunch this afternoon they were extremely busy. My girlfriend and I were seated immediately in the bar area, which would have been fine, except that the bar area felt like there was no AC blowing. Our server was very polite and attentive, and she never let our drinks get too low. She warned us before we ordered about long wait times on food, which was appreciated. I ordered shrimp and grits. The consistency of the grits was much thicker than I expected, almost like thick mashed potatoes. We asked our server if the consistency was normal. After checking with someone in the back, she confirmed that nothing was out of the ordinary. I barely ate the grits and would have really appreciated it if an effort was made to ensure I enjoyed my meal. I paid $14 for the entree but all I even ate was the few shrimp that came on top. I wasnt offered something else to eat and then paid the full price for the meal I barely touched.
Pretty good dinner that caters to vegetarians/vegans and omnivores. Apparently the quiche was amazing, but I found my No Huevos Rancheros to be less than satisfying as I am used to some of the best at Fosters in Durham and some great chilaquiles at Monuts and Elmos. The Buffalo wings were good for not being the real thing as the sauce was very good, but overall I found the vegetarian food to be somewhat lackluster. Parking is also challenging as its mainly on street only.
We were in Raleigh for the weekend and went to the remedy for brunch and ohh my goodness. I cant say enough good things about our meal. We got the vegan chicken and waffles (which had an amazing orange marmalade) and the Hot & Gooey (Soy fried chicken, vegan bacon, vegan cheese and gravy on a biscuit). The biscuit and gravy and soy chicken were so delicious. Both our meals came with seasoned potatoes that were very yummy. The staff were also super sweet to our pup and brought him a bowl of water and a treat. We couldnt decide on one dessert so we got 2 and they were both amazing. Well definitely be making pit stops here anytime were traveling through Raleigh again!
First timers. We had the Nashville Hot Tofu, Mac n Cheese, Vegan BBQ, and a few other items. All were fantastic. Service (Evan was our waiter) was great as well. If I were to try to find a negative it would be that the broccoli seemed a bit oily, most people probably wouldn’t be bothered by it.Highly recommend it for vegan and non vegan. Food is just good!
First visit to The Remedy and it was fantastic! I had the Groovy Train and my wife had the Portobello Pita, we shared and each was delightful. The service was good and we both loved the decor and environment. We are both vegetarians so its nice to have so many options on a menu. Hope to be back many times.
Impossible burger is impossibly delicious! Mustard and pickle are SO yummy! Wish it was a little cheaper... this burger deserves to be enjoyed by many and not just intended for a splurge. Half of bottom bun was a soggy approx 25 min after carry out pick up, but otherwise perfection.
I went here on New Years Eve at about 8pm. There was an extensive wait for our food but that was understandable and excusable as it was a holiday celebration. I got the pomegranate champagne cocktail which is perhaps one of the best drinks Ive had to date. I ordered the mainstream BLT with the chips. The BLT was good and I would recommend but I think the vegan BBQ is far more delicious in my opinion. The staff was nice. The restaurant was clean. This is one of my favorite vegan restaurants in the city!
Great atmosphere and menu. We loved the curated vibe and festive decorations, and everything on the menu sounded great. It covers a broad range of tastes and highlight the remedy angke in a playful way. Most of the vegan or vegetarian choices are basically a version of a meat thing, but they dont bill them as such. Definitely going back! (Also some of the art is for sale)
What I found great about this restaurant is that while they have their regular menu, they have the exact same options for the vegan menu. So, if you visit here with a vegan friend, both of you can enjoy a burger and each others pleasant company. They have an outside area, so you can bring your furry friend with you. Their pies are delicious. I got key lime and coconut cream to-go, and they did not last past the walk to my car. Its an awesome lunch spot!
The takeaway for this visit and the items that we tried was that the appetizers and homemade sauces and dressings are delicious, while pricing is slightly high for “diner fare” and somewhat mediocre service. The atmosphere inside is artsy. Tables are crowded and it became noisy once the restaurant was busy. We found parking on the side street, although the restaurant’s website indicates that other parking is available. While initially somewhat hovering, service became unavailable when needed after receiving the food. The restaurant had become significantly busier, so this is somewhat understandable. Service could have been friendlier. We still tipped at 25%, as we thought maybe staff was having an off day. There is a wide variety of specialty cocktails offered for $10 each. A few local draft beers are available as well as a selection of non-draft beers. We each tried the special, a bloody mary, which was relatively small, very spicy, and had strong taste of what seemed to be clam juice. The best part of the experience was the appetizers. The non-chicken “wings” are listed on the menu as being PETA’s top five wings. Rather than traditional wings, they are like vegan chicken nuggets smothered in a tasty vegan buffalo sauce with ranch dressing on the side. The jalapeno pimento cheese fries served as a comforting appetizer. My hopes had been set very high for the Tempeh Tantrum since the menu listed it as having been selected as being on PETA’s top five vegan sandwiches. Overall, this sandwich tasted bland to me. The Big Mama was a basic Boar’s Head roast beef and turkey sandwich, similar to one you might find in a grocery store deli. Each menu item comes with chips, with an option to upgrade to fries, soup, or salad for an additional $3.50.
Great location with a front patio. Excellent service and one of the best options for vegetarians and vegans. However, I was not impressed by the mock chicken wings that were voted on by PETA. These are the same frozen mock chicken nuggets that many other restaurants serve and are not an original recipe. If a restaurant is going to boast about mock meat, it should be the restaurants original idea.
The Full Breakfast I had was Deliciousreal home fries that were crispy out side perfectly cooked inside, seasoned properly & Still hot when they got to the tableI judge every brunch place by how well they do the potatoes Too TierHowever I had to ask 3 different people, over nearly 20 min. for a bag for my carry out which Should have been brought With the containersDo they really expect you to juggle a hat stuff all the way home & not end up with grits ( which were delicious too - So rich & creamy) in your car seats❓
New location is better than the last one but the rest of the stuff just simply is sub-par. The food takes ages to come out and isn’t hot when it arrives at your table. Not to mention the portions are some of the smallest i’ve seen at restaurants in town. 40 minutes wait for your food when you’re one of three tables in the restaurant? No thanks. Better spots to eat in town for the same price.
Honestly, the food is so heavy and disgusting that its nearly indigestible. I have no idea why anyone would try and make a vegan menu that relies entirely on meat and cheese substitutes, the amount of hydrogenated oils and processed vegetable proteins alone are enough to make you sick. Not to mention wayyy over priced. Host and servers always amazing, friendly and accommodating. I would give them a 10/10 if I could. The owners are incompetent and mistreat employees.
My daughter favorite place, mine not so much. Atmosphere nice, pictures, lamps for sale. Food alright. I dont know what the Remedy for but it not how the food is cook. Food was bland for my taste. Girlfriend French toast soggy, Salsa was good but not made there. Potato chunks served in little fryer basket, cute but potato nothing special. Portions are good. I just wish more time put into the food. Using seasoning would help. Also using unique foods like purple potatoes would be neat.
Best service Ive ever received at a restaurant. The food was delicious and we didnt have to wait long at all. I would definitely recommend and definitely come back.It was amazing that they had so many vegan options and that all of their desserts were vegan. It was nice to go to a restaurant where I didnt have to sub anything out on my meal. Also, I wish I could have gotten my servers name. That man is a legend and a blessing.11/10.
Honestly really disappointed in the experience. Got there and was greeted by a very nice person who ended up being our server (they did great but sadly not great enough to beat out the bad experience and over-priced nature of this restaurant). The first sandwich order placed we found out a key ingredient was no longer available (seems like something the kitchen should tell their wait staff at 12pm on a Friday for lunch). The second sandwich ordered goes in fine, but requested no mayo on the sandwich. Food comes out, sandwich looks great. First bite in and there is the mayo. Scraped it off the bread, still not a $11 sandwich. And the side salad they uncharged $3.50 for looked old and wilted. The meal (I also just got water) cost me $17. Not worth it.
Service was quick and the food was yummy. Really enjoyed the vegan chicken wings. I gave it 4 stars because the take out container was styrofoam. I expected a more sustainable vessel from this level of restaurant ... And all restaurants really.
I enjoy coming here regularly for the delicious vegan BBQ plate! Great ambiance, great service, too.Only wish, to add to another prior review I read, is for Remedy Diner to upgrade their takeout containers to something more sustainable than what they’re currently using: styrofoam. :( It’s really a turn-off for me. Otherwise, love this local spot.
Seems kinda overpriced for what you get. Id sorta expect that I get fries if Im paying like 12 bucks for a sandwich. Tortilla chips do come included with salsa and its pretty good but not what I would expect. They have a lot of good vegan options so thats worth the money if youre into that.
We went for lunch with our pups because The Remedy had too ratings for being dog friendly. Wow! They were beyond hospitable to our k9 companions and to us. And our food choices (quiche and impossible burger) were delicious. Loved especially the crust for the quiche. Thanks for your gracious hospitality!
One of my favorite vegan/vegetarian places that also has great dishes for carnivores as well. I love their vegan buffalo wings and the Sgt. Billy club. Also their vegan chocolate cake is just one of the best chocolate cakes Ive ever had, period.
Servers were very friendly here. The vegan options are amazing! All the desserts are vegan and delicious. Although the coconut cream pie didnt look all that presentable, it was delicious. Its a little expensive but thats usually the case with most vegan options. They also have options for meat eaters, so theres something for everyone. Good for a quick dessert or a nice lunch.
This is our go-to restaurant in Raleigh because the food is so good. But it really can be a hit or a miss. Tonight we ordered food to-go because we had a lot of studying to get done. We asked for the Tempeh Tantrum as a wrap and it didnt come out that way. It was missing avocado. I asked to add tomato to my Pesto Club, it had none. Vegan wings did not come with any ranch. Of course didnt get the ranch I had asked for for my fries. I know ordering to-go is a risk because you never know what youll really get, but they seemed to have really obvious things. Then again we should have checked our boxes before leaving. Ive worked in restaurants for 10 years so I get it. But some stuff at Remedy can just be so inconsistent, and its always the simplest of things that seem to go wrong. Its not a big deal, I just wish it was more seamless down there.
My hubby and I tried this place for the first time Friday. We have already told our friends about it. Our dinner was very tasty! We recently started on our plant based journey and this was a good place for date night. Music is good, our waiter was helpful and I like the eclectic style of the decor. We will be back. 😊
I enjoyed the bean burger and the home fried chips were very crisp the way I liked it. Nice outdoor dog friendly seating. The service was attentive and our drinks were refilled regularly, unfortunately the kitchen was was very slow - over half an hour to get our lunch. We thought we had been forgotten but our server told us that it was typical.
My new favorite restaurant! Tons of vegetarian options but meat options also. This place is mostly vegetarian with some meat a twist on most restaurants. The service is excellent they have outdoor seating lovely cocktails. And this food is just so darn good! I
Dinner was delicious and it is a great place to bring our vegan friend without feeling like we have to eat vegan as well. The menu is extensive and delicious. Great atmosphere but parking can be a bit of a challenge. Drinks ans desserts are great also especially the coconut cream pie, so good!
So good! The atmosphere here is pretty sick. Theyve got a dinosaur head on the wall!! They offer a good selection of vegetarian/vegan options, but also food for the omnivores among us. Good prices. Good people. Good Times.
As always, the food was amazing. Ive never been disappointed by the dishes here and its great to have such a high-quality vegetarian restaurant in the area. This was the first time Id been to their new location, and while its much larger and they brought over a lot of the decor from the old location, it still lost a bit of its charm. I will always love and patronize Remedy, but I miss the location and feel of the original space!
This place is amazing. Recently moved to Raleigh and love their food. I am a vegetarian, not vegan, but I could easily be vegan everyday with their foods. Best around!!
Went for brunch this weekend with a group of friends, me being the only vegetarian of the group. The waitress/service was great however the food was mediocre and overpriced. I ordered the vegan BLT and honestly I could have made a better one at home, it was bland and did not live up to my expectation of a vegan restaurant. My friends ordered the “real” bacon which was not REAL bacon, it’s turkey bacon, not pork. I have no issue with turkey bacon but don’t advertise it as real bacon when it’s not. My friend also ordered over easy eggs which we were told they could not do because all eggs were made scrambled which I found odd for a brunch restaurant. They also were out of pancakes & tortillas (for the breakfast burrito). I ordered my son a side waffle and it came out cold, not warm/fresh as would expected. The food was not great but at least the mimosas were good.
Went for brunch. Waiter was attentive. I was seated promptly without having to wait for the other 2 people in my party (as some places do). Food was very good.
Remedy Diner is one of our must-go places whenever we visit Raleigh. This was our first time at the newer second location. The food, atmosphere, and staff exceeded our expectations as usual. I keep meaning to try something new from their menu, but we love our old favorites so much, and I swear they just taste even better each time we go. I get the Vegan Reuben and my husband gets the traditional one - both delicious! This place is perfect for couples / families with vegans, vegetarians, and meat loving omnivores - something for everyone.
Worst place in all of Raleigh. I would give them 0 stars if I could. Corrupt owners who do not care about their employees or customers. Overhyped and overpriced. You’d be way better off spending your money at a respectable establishment like the Fiction Kitchen. Or anywhere else in Raleigh, for that matter. I can’t even believe they’re still in business, it’s that laughable.
Incredible food, incredible wait staff, and an incredible atmosphere. The prices were very reasonable for the amount you get. They also had some really great cocktails. Personal favorite item that I got was the Kaiser roll. One of the best Ive had in NC.
Restaurant with vegan-friendly options. Also has very good regular options for those who dont need dietary options.Be willing to pay at least $11 comfortably. The restaurant itself is very nice and trendy. Nice decorations with great music combine for a nice vibe. Definitely recommend!
I ordered a VEGAN breakfast plate. My server put it down and said vegan breakfast...but TWO things about it were not vegan. First it came with real butter pats on the side. I asked my server if it was butter or margarine and she said butter as if nothing was wrong. I asked for vegan butter and she got it for me. Then...the collards had BACON in them. I thought they tasted a little off, and then I noticed absolutely unmistakable small pieces of real bacon in the collards. Tasted nothing like the mock bacon on the rest of my plate. I was disgusted and upset. Very disappointing for a restaurant that claims to have vegan options to treat it as a preference or guideline rather than a requirement. If youre a vegan, BE CAREFUL!!
While the food was actually really good, the service and atmosphere were extremely poor when we went. The hostess and waitstaff both seemed put out by seating and serving us at 9:15 PM when they close at 10 (even though it claims 12 AM online in the Apple Maps app). It also took more than an hour to get our food even though the restaurant was mostly empty. I would never come back here for any reason if this is how they are going to treat people.
Went and ordered the vegan Mac and cheese but didn’t like it because of the vegan cheese. Ended up only eating two or three bites. Receipt came and our waiter said that she had taken the Mac and cheese off of the receipt because we didn’t eat any and gave us a small to go bowl free of charge of a different batch. Food was great and also had a great atmosphere! Would highly recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great food and service. Wish there were more places like this that cater to vegans and vegetarians. I had a veg BBQ sandwich. Only reason Im not giving 5 stars is because I wanted to try the veg Reuben but they were out of pickles.
The food is tasty and the server did an excellent job of taking care of us. The vegan lasagna is delicious! The atmosphere is cozy and the lighting at night is colorful and warm.
We had a large party this evening and Sagey was amazing! All of our food was incredible and came out perfectly. This has been the best Remedy experience yet!!! Will definitely request him as our server next time.
Great place for all types of breakfast - vegan, vegetarian and carnivore. The restaurant has a funky, hip vibe, but without being pretentious. Where we sat there was some original art and the wall had a fun older, style wallpaper, but with skulls. The service was very good. My coffee was refilled at least four times during our brunch (probably says as much about my caffeine consumption as it does the service ...). I had the vegan hot and gooey. A plant based chicken on a biscuit with gravy and fake bacon and home fries. It was pretty darn amazing. It was easily the best vegan breakfast I had in Raleigh.I recommend making a reservation on weekends, though it is worth the wait.
My first time at Remedy definitely wont be the last. Good food in normal, vegetarian and vegan flavors. As for the vegan and vegetarian menu items, its not a beat me in the face with alternative diets like Ive dealt with at other progressive eateries. Remedy is very inclusive of everyone (even us meat eaters).Bravo, Remedy!
Always loved this restaurant and had left a 5 star review up until now. Multiple bad service experiences recently make me consider not eating here anymore. Food is still great though!
Server was top notch. Pork plate and collards were outstanding. Guacamole tasted like it was not fresh.. too oniony for my taste as well. They were down to three desert selections, and food took a while as they were short on kitchen staff. Next time I will come for lunch instead of dinner since they seem geared more for that meal.
We read the reviews before we went. We were there on a Sat. night, which should be a peak time for the restaurant. Well, we ran into a lot of the stuff mentioned in the reviews: they told us when we arrived that the kitchen was on a 30 minute wait because they were backed up. And, after we were finally seated at our table and had ordered, they came back about 30 minutes later to tell us that the chicken for our order had been mistakenly given to another customer (and that they did not have anymore chicken). However, when it was time to pay, they offered to comp the entire bill to compensate us for the inconveniences. We paid nothing. We were blown away by this friendly gesture. And, yes, the food, particularly the vegetarian items, were delicious!
Wanted to come here for years (when they where still at Moore Square). Hubby finally brought me to celebrate our anniversary! Hip atmosphere. There was a little snafu but our server and manager were great and took good care of us!
The place is well done and appealing. The food is cook to order, so when it is busy, it will be slow, so I understood. But when items are out at opening on a Sunday, such as the vegan quiche, that was a disappointment.Device was good but the young woman did not introduce herself.Good, but could be better.
Great prices and I love the food! Great choice for vegans but also has a wonderful regular menu! The only thing about this place is the service kinda sucks. I have noticed lately theyve replaced some staff and the newer people seem to be a serious improvement! Overall the food keeps me coming back! My favorite is the vegan BBQ sandwich 🤩
LOVE the food, so many good vegan options! My favorite is the pick three tacos with vegan pulled pork and vegan cheese. I also love the non chicken wings and the vegan lasagna. I havent had all the desserts but every one that Ive tried has been awesome, the sopapilla cheesecake is my favorite. My only complaint is that the food takes FOREVER. At first I thought the service was bad but it isnt. Every time Ive eaten in the restaurant it took so long I only get take out now. It usually takes at least 30-45 min regardless of the day or time. About 50% of the time something I ordered is forgotten. Once I got home and realized they left a whole order of wings out (and yes I was charged for it.) Other times theyve forgotten the desserts or sauces but I caught it before I left so no harm done.
When I went, the service was incredibly slow. It took 15+ minutes just to get menus. Perhaps the server forgot us? The diner was far from packed, so I’m not sure what happened. But not a great experience, my group ending up leaving without ordering.*Pre-COVID review*
Loved the new location! very cozy, fun and intimate. I also love that they have kept their menu and just added more new things. I had the vegan Reuben, Mac n cheese and peanut butter pie. All were fantastic and am so happy to have a new ramped up Remedy diner!
This is such a unique restaurant with a great vegan menu. I had the vegan wings, and they were delicious. The service was great, and I cant wait to come back and try other vegan dishes.
Wonderful, fresh ingredients, and plenty of variety in sandwiches and even some vegan alternative food. Cool atmosphere, and good service. Four stars because Im not used to downtown hipster price level lunches.
