I needed my gas logs checked and the pilot light lit. Easy company to deal with. They came right on time, technician wore his mask, explained what he did after. I will definitely use them again.

The quoting process was smooth and the installation team was a great experience. I had an upgrade to the old gas fire log set that was 26 yrs old. Mr. Smokestack had website links with pics and videos to help us pick out new logsets. The installers focused on safety and double checked for gas leaks. They also trained me on lighting the pilot light and use with the remote control. I have also used them to inspect the chimney and recap the portion above the roof. Great company!

We had a complete tear-down and rebuild of a wooden chase structure, along with installation of a new firebox and replacement of the chase covers on both chimneys. We had a brick chimney which had a crack and was leaning towards our home. I did a lot of research and had several appointments with various companies in the Triangle. Cullen came out and performed a Gas Service that included A full diagnostic inspection and cleaning of our gas logs. Before this, we were having issues getting the fire to start at all. We had a masonry inspection/sweep plus dryer vent cleaning done on Oct. 15th by Joab. He was very nice and informative with everything that he was doing. He even reattached the handle that was dangling from our damper. All of the work done was at a reasonable price. He also provided a quote on our cracked chimney crown. We have been trying to have a wood burning insert put into our fireplace for some time. We were having trouble finding a company that returned phone calls. I found Mr Smokestack online. For those who were unhappy the company responded and did a decent job of fixing the problem. The sales person was knowledgeable. The technician, Gregory,and his helper were nice, clean and informative. We knew exactly what they were going to do. Gregory also went over the break in period and use of the insert. The competitor told me he couldn’t do a standard cleaning and it would be 3x the originally quoted price due to need for special equipment. Given some of the great reviews, I was very confident in doing business with Mr. Smokestack. I agree the employees I have had contact with have been (mostly) very professional. I called in Sept 2020 to convert my wood burning fireplace into a gas one. The salesperson was nice enough and the price was in line with what I thought it would be based on others in the neighborhood who had theirs converted by other companies. The gas fireplace itself was not installed until Feb 2021 (and unfortunately the logs much bigger than anticipated) but given the pandemic, I understood the delay. There were some delays I thought were unnecessary but overall was just happy to have it finally behind me even if there wasnt much winter left to use it. Unfortunately, I was only able to use it for three weeks before I started smelling gas. The team did come out the next day and determined where the gas was leaking from and diagnosed the issue - a defective part which just so happens to be on back order for, evidently, also months. I have heard very little from the company - and nothing since shortly after this happened - about updates or possible alternatives to waiting almost ten months for a safe, working fireplace. I will NEVER recommend them and for others in my area that are looking to convert their wood burning, I will be happy to share with them my experience. To be sure if it took me this long to pay, it would be unacceptable, as it should.

We had wanted to stop using wood as it was messy and inconvenient. We had a gas line to the fireplace that we decided to use. Mr. Smokestack came out and did an estimate. The appointment time made was the time they showed up, not that common among services these days.Upon installation it turned out that that the gas line was not connected properly. They arranged to have to have it connected, dealt with the City of Cary for the permit, arranged for the inspection before and after install and again showed up to install within the allotted window.They took care by using drop cloths to ensure that there was no mess on the floors or carpets and when they left the place was impeccable.Appropriate time was spent outlining the use of the firelogs, including using the remote control and outlining how I would set up the carbon monoxide monitors that would be needed for the inspection to pass.In summary, professional and courteous organization and will use them for my future needs.

Overall excellent experience. The initial evaluation of the chimney and ultimate repair were pretty consistent. The chimney required more pointing than originally quoted, but that was due to bad joints that were hidden originally. Very professional: Graham discussed what he was doing throughout the 2-day repair and kept me up to date with progress via photos. Graham is clearly very skilled and experienced. The chimney now looks great, and (time will tell) hopefully wont leak anymore!

I called this company to get my gas log fireplace up and running. it hadnt been used in years. they tested the inside gas line to it and fixed a leak. i also purchased a new log & burner set. There was a delay in delivery from the mfr. and that mfr was not very forthcoming w/ their inability to deliver so Mr Smokestack assisted, via phone and website, in showing me options. They installed the new log set and it worked fine however the set up was done in such a way that the remote receiver housing melted from the heat. They replaced the receiver and set me back up and so far so good. Everything working as it should and looks good as well. They were very prompt on their appointments and the Tech who did the install made a nice adjustment so the new receiver should be safe from the heat. He had a lot of experience and I certainly feel confident is his ability. Based on this experience I would definitely recommend this company.

Dont use my gas fireplace but I do turn it on every now and then to make sure it is operational. Checked it the other day only to find out that it was not working and became very concerned. The logs were cleaned, pilot light cleaned, fan check for proper operation and set to the speed I wanted. Although the project took a half day longer than estimated, Brendan finished the job with professionalism and craftsmanship. Within hours of Brendan completing the work, a hard persistent rain hit the chimney side of our house – the fireplace remained dry! They installed a chimney cap. The two servicemen who performed the work seemed very competent, and accomplished their task quickly and cleanly. Since I could not climb to the top of the chimney, they provided a photo that shows what appears to be a proper installation. They are not cheap, but they do good work.

The person that came out said he would be emailing us a list of recommended services to ensure our fireplace is safe to use this season. He emailed us a blank list of recommendations. When we called the office and sent several emails for the last several weeks, we received no response back. We paid for the full inspection fee, but need to now call another inspection company as we do not feel safe using the chimney.

Mr. Smokestack replaced the chimney cover and cap. The salesman came out got on the roof took measurements and ordered the material. It had to be custom made and we had to have the top put on before we closed on the sell of our house. The ladies in the office worked with me to insure the top was expedited and the technician scheduled before the closing. The technicians arrived on the day promised and installed the topper and cap, on one of the hottest days of the summer. Craig and his trainee, Jay, arrived as scheduled promptly on the day of the appointment. Jay, with little experience climbed a difficult roof and diligently cut and fashioned screening to prevent the further intrusion of squirrels into the chimney of a rental townhouse. He also cut away branches that overhung the chimney to further discourage squirrels. Time on the job was about one hour and fifteen minutes. I found them both attentive to my concerns and personable. Fee was reasonable.

Mr. Smokestack serviced our gas log system, purchased from PSNC in 2015, and did a very thorough job. I have full confidence in their services.

Brendan and Nick were absolutely amazing couldn’t have asked for more friendly knowledgeable people. Gave us great advice and knowledge on our fireplace and chimney and got the job done wonderfully even with my toddler asking a million questions. Would recommend to anyone if they need any work done at all.

The Mr. Smokestack experience was great from start to finish: the office staff were responsive and helpful in setting up an appointment, and the technician arrived on time, was friendly and did a quite thorough job of cleaning out our gas fireplace and optimizing its settings for the coming winter. After he left, we received a follow up report - complete with photographs - showing what hed done, and what findings he had (voltage on thermocouples, etc.) The fireplace needed a tuneup and we got not only that, but peace of mind as well. From now on, I wont bother calling anyone else.

I initially contacted Mr. Smokestack to get an inspection of my indoor gas fireplace; as well as a quote should I decide to upgrade. While the appt was far into the future (3 months), I was super pleased with CJ. Very professional and great knowledge. Was not a pushy sales person and quickly got me a quote with various options. While at my home I had CJ look at my exterior woodburning fireplace and received a quote for cleaning and mortar repair. It is not easy to find professionals doing this work. Yesterday technicians Donnie and John completed the work and it was thorough, professional, and required real skill. They cleaned up, addressed all questions, made sure I was happy, presented the invoice and emailed a copy to me. They were a true team. From the initial contact to the work yesterday I was impressed with everyone I encountered along the way - scheduler, sales, technicians. My experience was worth the wait.
