I would definitely stop here if you’re passing through Redlands and have children who love a good story. What a great traditional nostalgic bookstore that houses so many unique and beautifully illustrations children’s books. It’s worth taking your children here as I have for the last 29 years. Now my daughter is picking up the tradition with her first child on the way!

Absolutely wonderful! Morgan was incredibly helpful, and the whole store had that wonderful atmosphere of discovery that makes a good bookstore just better. I walked into the place with no intention of talking to anyone, and left having told half my life story and having shared a poem I wrote a month ago. Anyone who remembers the vibe Imagine That! used to have in Riverside with fondness should absolutely visit the Frugal Frigate.

This place is a shining gem of Redlands. They offer a large variety of thoughtfully organized books for children of all ages. There is also a new side room offering a selection for adults as well. As a bonus, the bookstore occupies a gorgeous historic building with unique and beautiful architecture.Their selection is robust, diverse, and thoughtfully selected. They offer a teacher discount, and they will special order almost anything they might not have in a timely manner. They also hold community events like pajama storytime and author readings. A must visit for parents or educators!

I really love this adorable bookstore. I did have an experience with getting charged incorrectly, however the owner Erin reached out to me personally and took absolute pride in my experience in her store. I cant wait to take my 3 little ones there for our next adventure.

I went to this bookstore today for the first time after driving past a few times. I was so impressed, the guy working was very friendly and helpful. Not a HUGE selection of books, but I found just what I was looking for. Very cute and intimate layout. I will definitely be going back.

Whats not to love? The very name is inspired by an Emily Dickinson poem. While the inventory caters to younger readers (picture books through YA Fiction) there is surely something for everyone. Not only has the store escaped the Jabberwockian corporate model, but the displays are winsome and the collected works have been lovingly curated. Here an admirer will find quality titles that prove elusive finds elsewhere. There are hands-on experiences available for youngsters and, rumor has it, that authors and illustrators alike will make guest appearances and treat rapt audience members with a spot of reading.Well worth your visit and your patronage!

An adorable childrens book shop nestled in downtown Redlands amongst other great little shops and restaurants. The shop has a lovely selection of books, ranging from infants board books to young adult and a small upstairs space for stuffed animals and their accessories.

This place is seriously AMAZING. All the staff are the nicest people ever and so helpful.

Story time is awesome. They read a bunch of books and then provide home baked cookies. Book selection and layout is great.

This is an absolutely wonderful Childrens bookstore. The people who work here are well educated in all kinds of Childrens books and willing to work with you to find what you are in looking for. This store also puts on great story times on the weekends! They do a Wheres Waldo event in July that involves the whole community!

Completely impressed with this wonderful childrens bookstore! I was guided by the man working there to whimsical, age appropriate, award winning books for my gifts! He was able to give me direction to make my decision. As it ends up, I bought 3 books today! Ill be back!

This small business is a delightful place to bring young children to foster a wonder and love of reading. The merchandise is spot on to interest readers from preschool through middle school. Enchantingly decorated and staffed with knowledgeable, friendly people ready to help your child find just the right fit. I cannot recommend The Frugal Frigate enough.

Amazing book store, good selection for kids and young adult!!

Its absolutely adorable and good place for many kids and teens to find books. Its a little compacted but very cute nonetheless.

So the only reason I took off a star is because their name is deceiving. With a name like frugal, you expect things to do really cheap - as in, a used bookstore. I went in with that expectation...and it was a regular bookstore with regular book prices.The store is laid out very nicely and is very cute. Easy to find things based on age level. Upstairs theres a mini build-a-bear workshop.

Great local kids bookstore thats been around for almost 3 decades. They have story times, do birthday parties, and you can build your own stuffed animal (One Cool Friend). Kids can hang out under the stairs or up in the loft.

Their customer service and environment is phenomenal. Not to mention that they have all the kid books i use to read and love as a child.

This place is so great, it really has a great atmosphere and the staff has always been helpful and kind. They have a great play area for the small kids while the parents can look around.We come here at least once a month to support a great book store, the prices can be a bit higher than what you would find online but its a good feeling to support such a great local business.

I brought my neices to this bookstore and they loved it. As soon as we walked in they started exploring the different areas. There is a little play kitchen, upstates in the tree house loft is a build your own puppet shop, and in the back is a science section. They were very excited about all of the interesting books and related toys that this shop offers.

This is one of THE BEST childrens book store possibly in America. Im not kidding. The young woman who helped us was gifted in this field. Also I try to order my books through this book store instead of Amazon because its a small business owner.

A big book selection & they even had a cool little play area like a fort or clubhouse underneath the stairs for the kids.

Their story time at every Saturday 10:30 is soo good, its vivid, and lasting about 1hour. Best place to take the toddlers go.

An adorable little bookstore filled with childrens books, this is a hidden gem in Downtown Redlands. Ive been here twice and have mainly browsed around, but the cashier doesnt mind at all. They have a small and charming play area set for the kids and the architecture of the building really sections out nicely with shelves of books to go through with your children. Theres also a build-a-bearesque area upstairs where you can make your own little plush friend. I cant wait to be back. Its a delight for the senses, through words on pages and homely atmosphere.
