Love Philz, and the coffee is usually good but its inconsistent based on who makes your drink. Sometimes its spot on and at worst its meh.My faves are iced Philtered Soul, Cafe Rosé, and Ecstatic iced. The Istabul Treat tea is great, too. Very herby. However, watch out! My most recent visit, Large iced drinks were served in new plastic cups that are the SAME SIZE as the Medium hot cups. Ive been going here since they opened south of SF (I believe the first non-SF spot is in Palo Alto)--did they think their long time loyal customers would not notice this unfortunate change?
Super friendly staff, great coffee at affordable prices. Best to use the Philz app to place your order for pickup (i do that all the time and it is such a huge time saver!)p.s. I wish Philz had a membership program like Starbucks!
Even before I got my coffee I was impressed. It smells wonderful. Staff was gracias and friendly. Coffee was perfect
Love how they always want your coffee to be perfect before you take it.
Love Philz! But maaan, This location is SLOOOOOOW!Takes somewhere 25-40 min to receive a coffee, WTH?!?!
This location was busy. The coffee and tea were good, but the service is slow and confusing. Baristas supposedly provide personalized service, but really they just take several orders at once and brew or steep your order while you wait. The food is all prepared on-premises. The selection is small, but the egg and avocado toast was fresh. The prices were high and portions small. If youre looking for over-priced small portions with inefficient service, then this is a good choice. Otherwise, keep walking.
Very convenient location in downtown redwood. The bathroom facility not super clean, out of paper.
Great place to relax. Great coffee!
Meh. Not as nice as they used to be. I was feeling as if my presence was an inconvenience. Remember folks, if they customer is not there, including ordering via the app, you have no purpose for work. Be appreciative that folks are interested in your products.
Great coffee, friendly staff with a great recommendation for an evening coffee. They also left the chairs and tables out even after they closed so that me and a friend could continue to chat, which allowed us to stay an additional half hour after their closing the doors before they finally asked us if they could remove the table and chairs, which was way beyond the call of duty. ☕💖 Thank You PHILZS
Great coffee. Long lines in the morning. Its better to order ahead.
Philz, oh Philz, how I miss thee when I am away. They’re doing fully take out only service. You can order pastries and drinks either on their app or with the counter person at a makeshift table.I’d recommend ordering in advance because it’s still fairly busy and, ya know, the coffees are hand crafted so take time. They have great markers spaced to keep customers away from each other.
Its a shame/ missed opportunity they stopped giving military and first responders a discount.
Great coffee, nice staff. Definitely better than SB
Quick, easy, and safe place to be. Baristas are nice and helpful. The coffee is always amazing.
Better than Peets when Peets was still a great private coffee chain. Phil and his son Jacob are really nice people who know how to make great coffee
Gotta love Philz. Whether you’re a fan of foo foo sweet drinks or you pretentiously stick to strictly black pour over, they’ll scratch your itch with tasty drinks that’ll leave you buzzing. It’s a little on the pricy side, so make sure to budget if you plan on making this your daily coffee fix. I like that this location is open early. Hilarious 90’s playlist playing as I write this.
Good place
A good and strong coffee, this is what I am looking early in the morning and this is way I go there. For breakfast you can find some good bagels and they a lot of different types. The people inside are really cool. There is no line because they are working really fast.
It takes a number of orders to tune what you want, but once youre there, its the best place to get brewed coffee.
I get coffee from here (either order ahead or in person) about 2-3 times a week. I enjoy supporting Philz around the bay. About half of the staff at this particular location is friendly and welcoming; I’m never sure who I’m going to get. Today I went in to buy a gift card, and they are were out of gift cards. Seems like pretty easy way to make business; I’m shocked they were out completely.
Girl with the blue hair is very rude. The rest of the employees seemed fine, but I wont be returning. There are lots of good options for coffee in the area.
Waited 20 min. Okay. Screwed up order. Still okay. Asked for nothing, but informed the woman on staff there was a mistake. She wanted to argue with me. Still doing so as I walked away.
Great coffee.
What can you say about Philz that hasnt been said. Probably nothing. Its a great, individualized cup of coffee. Pour over style gets robust smooth flavor. People are always endlessly nice Iced mint mojito is my go to here. Philz isnt cheap, but worth it for that one great cup.
The workers don’t know anything about customer service. Especially the girl with the blue colored hair has the worst attitude for no reason.
The Philz Coffee here is great, order there or in mobile app service is pretty quick. Place is clean, atmosphere of any Philz Coffee, a bit more quiet than Fremont Location. However, drink quality consistency varies as opposed to Fremont Location.
The mobile app is great. Staff is always great.
Nice place with a comfy environment. Perfect place to study, hang out, or play a game. The toast was amazing too.
If you want a coffee like product you go to Starbucks. When you want to get a real coffee with a variety of roasts and different beans you go to Philz. Im partial to light roasts, but Ive heard from dark roast lovers that they are just as satisfactory as the amazingly soul soothing Ambrosia light roast blend that I like. It is totally worth a try.
Nice selection
Fantastic Coffee. Perfectly brewed. Avocado toast missing egg. Urgh. Still nice place. Thanks
Very upscale establishment when compared to its humble origins on 24th and Folsom.
Nice coffee shop with ample seating. There are 20 or so coffees to choose from, and all are prepared fresh, pour over style. Cream and sugar can also be added on request, although I find the standard amounts to be overwhelming and I prefer my coffee black anyway. Very popular in the morning, so its not unusual to have to wait in line. Probably not a good stop if youre in a rush, as on top of the line the coffee takes at least 5min to be prepared.
Coffee and tea carefully and masterly brewed. A whole palette of subtle styles.
Tesora coffee was really good. Also had the avocado toast and it was very peppery. I happen to like pepper so I enjoyed it. The way you order coffee is a little different than say Starbucks. As a smaller chain of coffee shops I feel its more personal and friendly.
Excellent service great customer service
Friendly service. Good location. Good coffee. The line can be long sometimes so not really convenient if you want to get coffee and get out the door during lunch break.
Just meeting someone who was working via computer... Nice big open space for you to find your own space 🧘♂️🤖😉
It takes forever to get a coffee
I love this place! A great selection of delicious coffee, helpful staff, good service times, nice ambiance, and a variety of options on their menu. Not a super great place to pop in and quick grab coffee as every cup is individually brewed, but you can order ahead! I like my coffee black, but their cream is magical.
A higher class of coffee experience. Visitors have requested Philz for Xmas ever after. Treat yourself and understand what coffee can be.
Love this coffee!!! Service is great and the app is user friendly!
The Jacob Wonderland is a great coffee. They have lots of great coffee. Even Vegetarian Donuts if your into that.
I come here before my night shifts at work sometimes, and having them remain open surprisingly late (9:30 PM) on weekends is a boon for me. Service and coffee quality are excellent like at other Philz locations, and I do appreciate the respectful and simple signage for their all-gender restrooms.
Philz is the best. I love the avocado toast as well but you can make it at home!
Philz coffee has changed my coffee drinking experience!!! The many fresh flavors to choose from make coffee here far from your average cup. The staff here at Philz are fast, friendly and knowledgeable. I recommend seeing for your self. Step away from the average cup and taste the difference.Thank you Philz!!!!
Most of the Philz locations Ive been to have always been pleasant experiences. Must be the Philz culture. Shines through in all they do!
Usually busy since the coffee is good. If youre looking for a change of pace from other corporate coffee shops, Philz is a welcome change.
My husband and son love this place. Theyre huge coffee enthusiasts so if they say its good, its good. They will go out of their way to get coffee at this particular location. I have only had the tea here, but can tell you that it is awesome! Very flavorful and fresh tasting, not weak.Philz is in a busy location and parking can be a little tricky sometimes, but its a great atmosphere to sit and sip a cup of coffee before you head off to the nearby theater or just to do some shopping. Its pretty roomy inside, clean, and has a friendly staff. There are two or three tables outside, as well. Overall, a great place to hang out while youre enjoying a really good cup of coffee.
Philz is hands-down my favorite Bay Area cafe. I am an iced mojito addict. I used to order it sweet and creamy and that shiz is amazing but I recently switched to either oat milk or soy milk and there is not an iota lost in quality. Taste it and let me know how it is before you pay. Perfect as always. Tip your baristas, folks! ♡The space itself is super chill too, fast WiFi, comfortable workspaces, friendly staff and patrons.
Great place for working with laptops or hangout with your friendsThe ambience is so good
Great and consistent coffee! It can get crowded during certain times of the day or if theres an event happening in downtown Redwood City. However, we always make the trek just got the coffee.
A different take from what Im used to but was pretty good. I bought a coffee with mint and it was okay
Great coffee that is worth the wait (pour over takes a few minutes), decent snacks, a restroom, tables with outlets, and outdoor seating. $10 for coffee and snack seems excessive, yet I keep coming back each Sunday when i need to clean my inbox. :)
Great if you like sugary drinks - not if youre a lover of good coffee. Am I the only one who thinks coffee tastes bad here? Or is everyone in the Bay all about the cream and sugar, and not about the actual bean? I like the atmosphere and baked goods of this place, staff is nice, but there is NO espresso machine so FORGET getting a latte. $5 drip coffee (that tastes terrible on its own) and flavoring is all you get.
Now these are real baristas working here. They make your drinks perfect to your taste and will remake if you dont like it. Great customer service!
Coffee here is great, and I also love the avocado toast and ice black tea. Nice service, the couch is super comfortable! Park in nearby garage for $0.25/hour during work days before 6pm.
The barista was helpful, concise, and made us delicious coffee. The cashier was sweet and kind. I got the light roast because I despise the regular coffee shop acrid high-acid brews, and it was dreamy and smooth. Highly recommend this!
Best pour over coffee. Just wish they had gluten free desserts.
You can find pretty huge lines here in the morning. I believe they have an app that you can use to order too. But I don’t like their chai. It’s not my taste. But they were kind enough to refund my money when I left s feedback
Nice place, good pastries but no expresso drinks! And the non expresso drinks they serve takes waaaaaaay toooooo long. And those who make and serve the non expresso beverages are a little to special for such a simple task for my tastes. But hey, if you like snowflakes with your politically correct coffee and dont mind paying hi prices so you can fit in with the crowd and feel special then go for it.
Good, friendly service but leave yourself some extra time if you get a burrito. They are worth the wait. Love the Palo Alto Firefighter pepper sauce.
The service at Philz is great as are their beverages. Their hot chocolate is the best Ive ever had. Im pleasantly surprised by how good it is every time.
The decaf mocha was good. I was expecting espresso rather than drip, but it was still good, but a bit slow and a bit pricey... hence 4 stars and not 5
Im so happy Philz opened a location in Redwood City! I know Philz is famous for their coffee, but I love their herbal mint tea. The cardamom they put in there is perfection!
The coffe men, the coffe,That starplace has nothing on this guys, The combination of beans and the flavor and aromas are heavenly.Hopefully they come to Las Vegas.
Pretty good coffee place. I go here quite often, one of the four coffee shops that was part of my morning rotation. Ive only tried their mint drinks. A friend recommended me the mint mojito iced coffee and I just kind of stuck to that.
This Phil is often busy because its so close to lots of startups but they do a good job of getting through the line. There is also a good number of seats inside and a few outside; the seats are often full during peak times but theres always the option to take your coffee to go and drink it in the square not too far away.
The sweet black tea wasnt anything special. I prefer Starbucks for their loyalty program and I feel they have better tea.
A beautiful and cozy place where you can work or just hang out with friends. A friend recommended this place and it is definitely worth a visit! The baristas are really friendly
The drinks are made well and the employees are helpful and friendly. The music can be a bit loud and at times too cold inside. However I love the use of the room as there are enough spots inside and out
The coffee is really good, however this is not the place to get a quick cup of coffee. Each cup is made individually pour over style and the line is always fairly long, so there is no popping in and out.
Best coffee ever. No mixed coffee drinks or lattes. Just good cops of coffee poured over one cup at a time. If you dont like it they will make you another one.
I dont always go to Redwood City but when I do, I often hit up Philz here. Located right in heart of downtown area next to theatre and dt square. This spot is very popular, and it serves Philz quickly. Has decent lightning, exposure to outside, great music, okay interior.
Great place to have a business meeting and grab a cup of coffee! The only downside is that you are paying almost $5 for a cup of coffee, not even a specialty drink! The Mint Mojito coffee is the best on the menu in my opinion!
Mint mohito (iced sweet and creamy) and code33 (hot: medium medium) are my two favorites at Philz. This is probably one of the best coffee experience anywhere in the US.
Philz has non-espresso drinks only, and baristas will help you choose of many coffee roasts to make your cup, one cup at a time for you. You wait on benches until your order comes up. I think most of the time their coffee is excellent, but out of my last maybe 5 orders, especially for their version of a mocha, the mocha tesora, the consistency has been really bad. Sometimes it’s a dream drink, and sometimes - especially iced - it’s a chalky, protein shake-like mess. I’m not sure what’s causing it. The shop whole clean is usually pretty full, and the music is very loud which makes it hard to have conversations or meetings there. If you’re someone who likes to listen to music on blast while you work, you’ll love it. Otherwise, make sure to order a standard hot coffee drink, not their ginger or mocha, and then take your coffee for a walk around town.
Good coffee, not too many seats inside if youre looking to do work though
Honestly, I didnt find the experience special. For a non-busy time of day, I waited a long time to get my coffee. The coffee was just ok to me. Maybe I need to try something different next time.
