Red Giant has one of the best lattes in Redwood City, as well as a wonderful, kind, and knowledgeable staff. Its an absolute gem of a cafe, and Im happy its finding a way to survive despite COVID difficulties. Erik, youre doing a great job holding down the fort!I also highly recommend their coffee beans. They offer a wonderful little variety of freshly roasted beans, which they sell both on-site and online. I use their coffee bean subscription now that Im WFH full time. Its been really convenient to have beans delivered to my home.I miss your muffins, guys! I hope they come back once the cafe can be operated fully!
Since the pandemic I feel like their quality has gone down. No longer do you interact with a barista like litterally every other coffee shop. Chat, get to know you. You know customer service. Nope. Instead, order on the tablet and stand outside. OK fine pandemic issues I can get past that. The past few times Ive been however the shots seem bitter and the drink orders arent correct. Drip tastes burned. They used be be a favorite of mine so its disheartening to see where theyve gone. Id rather walk down the road now to Philz or coffee bar.
This understated local gem genuinely has the consistently best coffee in the greater bay area. I love Sightglass, Ritual, Four Barrel, Chromatic, and Voyager, but honestly, none of them are on Red Giants level. Eric does *such* a good job with roasting and qc, that their beans are a cut above everywhere else. Jimmy cares so much about giving people a good experience. Ive been here well over 1000 times since they opened in ~2015, and I can count on one hand the number of times Ive had a bad drink. If youre looking for good coffee in the bay area, I think this is genuinely #1 on the ranking.
Great coffee! Liked the contactless experience. But pretty pricey for size.
Love their Cardamom Rose Latte!
The perfect flat white! Not frothy, the right texture, good flavors in their roasted coffee. Very talented baristas!
I love their lavender lattes. And just about anything cappuccino. Very friendly staff and great outdoor sit space for people watching.
Wow! Super nice service. I had to get a last minute print for work and I found this gem downtown.I also ordered a Chai. I can’t express enough the kind and great service here.
Bliss has become a morning ritual of mine since moving to Redwood City from Chicago. This cafe has a growing partnership with Red Giant as an option for fantastic quality beans. The Yirga Cheffe is seriously one of the best pour overs I’ve ever had and exemplifies how sweet an Ethiopian can be given proper technique. There’s also a really decent strictly hard bean Guatemala as well. All of this is useless without good baristas and Bliss has no shortage of proper technique!
The best cappuccino in Redwood City, plus other great house roasted coffee. Local pastries (their potato Pirozhki and quiche 👌). Service is great, and they use environmentally friendly containers.
Friendly people, tasty drinks, what more could you want?
Really great coffee and yummy pastries. I usually go for the quiche. Service is always very friendly. This is my go-to coffee place in Redwood City.
Contactless ordering, a large and comfortable outdoor area, and great coffee.
Loved it! Good coffee ❤
Nutella latte is a killer. Honestly. Don’t even try it.
By far the best coffee in Redwood City, with experienced baristas and a great blend. Also fantastic if you can get in early for their baked goods!
Best Cappuccino and Gibraltar. Often they serve Ethiopian (more on acidic side) which I love.
Excellent coffee, not your run-of-the-mill flavors. Employees were super helpful when I told them I was trying the place for the first time. More coffee and food choices would be nice, but there were enough items to make a pretty good breakfast. Will definitely go again.
Good, not great. Nice barista.
Update: (22 Dec 2019) Hot chocolate and a mocha were just what was needed on a chilly day. My wife was very impressed with the hot chocolate.👍Small store, pretty easy to miss. However, it was packed, indicating something must be appealing.I had a medium roast coffee, which was quite good.Service was polite and fast.Check it out.
Simple, comfortable cafe with a short menu of choice coffee, espresso, and tea drinks. Hot and iced. They have almond and soy milks. My go to is the lavender latte with almond milk. There is indoor and outdoor seating. They also have some pastries.
Really great coffee from verve and their own great roastery. Its clear that they love and care about making coffee. They also have pretty good pastries, although it is a small selection, but it is a small cafe. Choice of indoor or outdoor seating.
VB Latte was good. They only have pastries. Not a bad thing, just an FYI to those looking for breakfast sandwiches as well😃
Great coffee, reasonable wait, free parking with attendant. Nice outdoor seating and a few tables and bar inside. Bathroom is always clean and the staff are friendly. What more could you ask for?
Have only been there once but the coffee was great. Its a small shop but located centrally in the market place and has good outdoor seating making for a nice place to just hang out or catch up with friends. Friendly staff and service with a smile really add to the taste making it a pleasant experience overall.
Really great little coffee shop right off the square in downtown Redwood City. There isnt much seating inside BUT theres lots of tables with umbrellas outside. Great selection of both tea and coffee options with gorgeous pastries to boot. Love it!
Fantastic coffee, the best I could find in Redwood City. Ive been there numerous time and staff is always friendly. Beautiful to sit outside on a sunny morning. They offer free WiFi, water as well as a printer for those who like to work. A special drink they offer is a Lavender Latte, give it a try. Prices are what youd expect for this quality.
Kind and courteous staff. They had stopped serving drip for the day and the shopkeeper offered to make a pour over for the same price. The coffee was so good, and the outdoor seating was beautiful. Would recommend to friends.
The coffee was good but the employees seemed much more interested interacting with each other than their customers. However the shady side street where the store is located is relaxing and quiet.
Tiny and cute coffee cafe almost catty corner to Starbucks Reserve. They roast their own beans every 5 days or so, and also serve up Verve, which I happened to have this time. My coffee mate had the Red Giant. Both were yum. The two baristas there knew their stuff about both roasts.
Fantastic coffee shop. The vanilla latte is great. Not overly sweet compared to other placed. Small seating inside but also has outdoor seating. Has a small community board and a Print With me station. Also has free WiFi.
Dont lecture me Obi WanI see though the lies of the JediI do not fear the dark roast like you do
Great local coffee shop. There is a small selection of seating inside with some outside seating available. The coffee is artfully prepared and the pastries are delightful. I especially enjoy the almond croissant. Bliss has the standard lattes, cappuccinos; but they also have a lavender latte, nutella, and vanilla bean latte which isnt too sweet but has good flavor.
Good coffee and tech workers on their laptops at the window make for an interesting place to relax with a latte. The service is young, friendly and hip. This place is not a full as other coffee shops in the area, but it is also not full of pretentious types either, so it is more comfortable in that respect. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Nice place, good coffee.
My very favorite coffee place, I go here almost every day. Occasionally a little hard to find a seat on Saturday mornings, which shows how popular they are. Very friendly people and a nice collection of pastries!
Quick service, great coffee! love the cold brew. havent had a pastry yet but the quiches look amazing
Best third wave coffee on the peninsula. Love the outdoor seating. Very local vibe. If you come frequently, you will notice how many people come daily. Says a lot about a place.
Love the simplistic, classic vibe of this coffee shop! Makes me feel right at home. They also have interesting latte flavors like Nutella latte and lavender latte. I wound up getting the lavender latter and I loved it! It was smooth, creamy, with just a subtle hint of lavender. There arent many tables inside the cafe, but theres also outside seating.
So I only had the americano, but it was a good smooth blend. The lattes looked very pretty. The patio is good, shaded and relaxing.
Really good lattes. They serve Verve coffee which is also really good
Completely delicious latte and cappuccino from Red Giant! Rich espresso with great depth of flavor and luscious microfoam. Will be coming back ASAP!
Great coffee and friendly people. Nice outside sitting good for sunny days and couple of small tables insides.
They have great coffee and very friendly staff. The co-owners of the place are often working behind the counter. Its a pleasant place to sit outside and read or work, as long as you dont mind street nose and the occasional train. NoNo there is a new name: red giant coffee
Best iced almond milk late around! Get the homemade vanilla or lavender syrup and you wont regret it! Only downside is a bit on the pricey side, but worth it for a local coffee shop!
Pour over was made with care, and turned out great. Definitely recommend trying this cafe. There can be a bit of a wait and there is very little seating inside, so be aware.
Am not a fan of third wave coffee, but my son is and I do respect his taste in coffee. Great service. And always tip the baristas as they struggle to make their rent each month
Some of the best coffee on the peninsula and a fantastic staff! I love that they now serve the Oatly Oat Milk and their Nutella Latte is divine. This is worth a visit without question.
Excellent! Fine coffee and yummy treats in a nice atmosphere. Thank you! Glad I found you!
Great little place, drip coffee was great! Limited indoor seating, but some good outdoor space with decent WiFi out there.
Tried organe spice latte. Very good.
July 2017 they just launched locally roasted beans called Red Giant. Good stuff!Best place for good third wave coffee on the peninsula!
Their lavender latte is always on point. Their coffee brings me absolute comfort.
If you really want a killer pour over, this is the spot. Small and off the beaten path, it’s cozy and welcoming while still offering and eclectic and rotating menu of beans from all over
Well prepared coffee drinks, mellow vibe, and nice outdoor patio in a tree lined stretch of Broadway.
Good espresso. Not enough seating. Long delays on drink delivery, which is not great when situated next to a train station. Better options for getting some work done or getting better service very nearby.
Love this spot, great coffee and some pastries. They also highlight some local art work.
I always come here when I feel like a nice, lighter roast on my coffee than what you get elsewhere in the neighborhood. The beans they use are excellent.
Wonderful lattes, great shots pulled with a lot of care and attention.
The atmosphere is not warm for a coffee cafe. My mocha was okay but not rich. Coffee flavor was a bit understated.
The Coffee is good, not bitter like a lot of places. 3 stars because the WiFi is mostly unusable. There were only a few people here and it was extremely slow. I had to use my phone for email, I would have just gone somewhere else if i knew that was the case.
The Best coffee in Redwood City! And the coziest outdoor seating in the downtown. The last missing start is due to 2 things:1. The lack of food: They only offer some pastries/sweets and usually run out of them during the morning2. Although each and every staff member is nice, I miss sometimes a little bit more of interaction with the customers. But this is a very personal thing and there may be others that prefer it the way it is right nowAnyway, and in summary, you have to give a try to the coffee here! And if its sunny, make sure you bring a book and sit outside.
Ive been going to Bliss since they opened and I love their coffee. The atmosphere is clean and modern and the baristas are friendly. Im not a fan of their pastries, but the coffee menu is excellent and the prices are decent.
Love the Gibraltar here.. my go to spot for any Expresso drink.
The perfect cafe if you love coffee. They serve top quality beans: Verve, Heart, Four Barrel and others and the baristas are skilled. They have awesome cold drinks for refreshing outside in the perfect patio to enjoy the ideal I Redwood City weatherBest coffee in RWC if you like single origin, light roasted, well made cups. Also tasty pastries.
Good third wave coffee, and tasty (though a bit sweet) pastries.
Didnt really enjoy the medium/light roast coffee. They have no dark roast on hand.. something to keep in mind. I guess it depends on your tastes
Multi roaster shop. Pour overs and espresso are well made. Despite the liquid candy, they do a good job at coffee.
Their barista looked like Scarlett Johansson, lol🤩But espresso wasn’t outstanding, a little sour to my taste. Not a bad place overall!
I really love thier cold brew coffee and travel out of my way to obtain said cold brew. Im a big fan of Blue bottle but I think Red Giants wind all dsy.
Great coffee, I tried the lavender latte. I normally wouldnt like something sweet and large, but it was delicious!
Look no further if youre looking for good coffee and Expresso drinks in redwood city. Best coffee downtown! Pretty great outdoor seating as well!
Solid espresso and also cappuccino! The coffee they chose for their espresso yields a chocolatey, smooth cup with lots of crema. Great location and seating area! Very nice and knowledgeable baristas!
Great atmosphere and vibe. The coffee was delicious and the presentation was nice. Felt European.
Best coffee downtown. Interior could be nicer but on a warm day the outside seating is great.
Cute coffee place in Redwood City, close to train station and other shops
Heard the coffee is good, I had tea though and seating was decent. Would probably bring a coffee lover here.
Coffee tastes great. Might ask for less milk next time as not strong enough for me.
Fantastic single-origin pour-over!
