This location has my favourite seafood department. The shrimp really rallies my spirit after a long day. Good quality and clearly well maintained by the engaged staff behind the counter. If they sold tents and fishing equipment id never go to another store.

I ca!me in here on an early Saturday afternoon to do some light grocery shopping. I only needed a few items to carry me through the week. The first thing that caught my eye was the produce section. It was quite expansive, and had several rows of wonderful fruits and vegetables. The apples and bananas looked so fresh, that I picked up some and added them to my cart. At the outside entrance there is a sign that indicates that there is something called the Signature Cafe. I looked around everywhere but could not find a Cafe. Im thinking that perhaps the enhanced deli is what they are calling the Cafe now. Here they offer hot food as well as, deli meats of all types. The prices here were somewhat higher than competing grocery stores in the area, and Im sure that it is due to the increased quality of food that they offer here.

I had an awful situation this afternoon with a creepy guy at the cashiers. He a is chubby dark hair and was staring at me super creepy and following me around. I confronted the guy and he got a little scared and then he did it again! I have complained twice about this with the manager. His name is Khalid H. Nobody should get approached in harassing way as this guy does.

While it is, technically, a serviceable grocery store with a passable deli and pharmacy, I get contact depression bring in here. Loud music, dingy floors, and harsh lighting make me want to leave as soon as I can. I know this isnt meant to be a hangout spot, but its actively a little painful to spend time here.So, average mid-range Safeway experience. I havent been here before, but Ive been here before many times.

Sales are always in accurately labeled, pretty much required you sit down and have a conversation with somebody at the point of sale to ensure they make good on their prices. Really not worth your time, lotte mart is a valid alternative in the local area.

I went to the self check out this evening, and one of my product did not have a bar code. I asked the young guy that was helping, to assist me. I was shocked by his arrogant response. He then went over to help someone else, and his whole demeanor was completely different. I asked to speak to the Manager on call. He response was not very satisfying. I was appalled

This safeway allows unmasked shoppers. When asked if they were going to deny service to them I was told they werent allowed to. I refuse to shop at a place that will risk my life and the life of their employees in order to earn a few dollars. How can management justify this? Ill be going to Trader Joes where the company isnt willing to kill their employees for profits.

This has got to be all around worst Safeway ever. The store is filthy. The worst customer service with the worst pharmacy. The pharmacist is incredibly rude, probably because she is the only person working the pharmacy. The most painful shots I have ever received. Ill make an appointment with Wegmans next time.

Fully stocked with everything, including paper goods! First time since early March. Taking precautions and everyone... Customers and staff, were wearing masks. Still need to have more/ better beer and hard cider options in stock as well as keep Fever Tree Ginger Beer on the shelves... Clearly the lake crowd loves their Moscow Mules! 🤣

Employees were distracted, playing games and horsing around, clearly no management oversize. Order was incorrectly tabulated as they randomly priced produced vs. Weighing. Final straw... My items were not all given to me, I had to drive back to store and ask if they had items not given to me.. Of course the answer was oh ya, we forgot to put those in your cart.... Terrible store experience. Sorry Safeway. You may I suggest you invest in a mystery shopper.... You will be sadly disappointed and amazed.

While this isnt my neighborhood grocery store, I have found myself picking up some odds and ends when I am in the area. The store is very clean and well stocked. Not sure if it has been a coincidence, but at the checkout I always seem to be cheerfully greeted and helped by one of the great team members named Lynn. Thank you Lynn for making my shopping experience so warm and delightful through your kindness, attentiveness and overall great customer service!

While I enjoy the convenience of this Safeway and they have a decent selection of items, I was dismayed to find today that a good half of the employees were not wearing masks. I counted 4 employees without masks, 1 with a mask around their neck, and one wearing it essentially as a chin strap. Currently there is a legal requirement to wear a face covering in public.I asked for the manager to inquire about this, and the manager herself was not wearing a mask. Her reason was that some employees had medical conditions which exempted them from wearing a mask. While that is a valid reason when true, I find it hard to believe that half of their workforce has such a medical condition.

Not the best grocery store in town. Evidently they have a very small old school style of frozen vegetables. I was surprised to not see streamable options. They have been resupplied everywhere so its not as a result of the coronavirus.... Its just a meager selection. I gave an extra star for how am pleasant the checkout girl was. She was fabulous, the store not so much.As an FYI a few of the guys that work there had their masks pulled off their face & sitting on the chin, also not my favorite

Kind staff, self check-out. Their produce section is typically well-stocked with a nice variety of herbs and a pretty good selection of juices.Where this location shines is the wine section (two full aisles) which does regular specials for clearing out inventory. Weve gotten away with some incredibly well priced bottles of Seven Deadly Zins and 8 Years in The Desert. Just be sure to purchase 6 bottles at a time for the best savings year-round.

PLEASE be careful when going here during COVID19. My sister (who has a newborn at home) and I went in for a few items...I felt like we had stepped into an alternate universe. Many Employees and shoppers did not have on masks, so clearly this mandatory mask rule in our state wasn’t enforced. My sister and I felt very uncomfortable through the whole experience, it was upsetting since she’s a new parent and is very nervous about this virus. The amount of elderly people shopping too around the careless individuals was very sad to see...clearly their health didn’t even matter to the employees who weren’t wearing masks/had them on incorrectlyIt was a complete joke.On top of that, there was an employee with a shirt labeled, “HEAD SANITATION” and was wiping stuff down...with his mask on incorrectly (under his nose)..I couldn’t believe my eyes.Just spend a little more time to go to Harris Teeter or Giant so you don’t risk getting this virus from Safeway!

The store itself is nothing unusual, sometimes the lines are long and they just reorganized it, but not in a good way. However, the pharmacy here is the best! Everyone who works there is pleasant and helpful. They always have time to talk with me and answer questions and they will help out whenever they can. Great group of people! At the pharmacy.

Great store at South Lakes Shopping Center, in Reston.,VA. Personnel are always helpful, knowledgeable and cheerful. The store itself is always well stocked with a great variety of foods. Every time I enter the store, its a disappointment. The lines are always ridiculously long, partially because of the lack of help and partially because the employees do not have a sense of urgency. I understand that you cant be on your A-game 100% of the time, but when you have long lines, pick up the damn pace! One of the cashiers is a very nice guy, but hes more focused on being a social butterfly than doing his job. There is one self-checkout area with 4 registers where it seems that one is always down. The convenience of this location does not make up for the hassle of going inside this store.

Checkout lines are always insanely long. 20+ minute wait times. Management is just awful.Updating and July of 2018 lines are still ridiculous. The other day as I was checking out in express lane,a family with two full carts rolled in behind me. The cashier pointed out it was the express lane, but they responded that no other line was open. Employee looked up, saw his now insanely long line and NO other open checkouts. Then said f*** real loud and complained about poor management. I agree sir!! Not his fault - he was doing his best.Always out of half and half and other basics (eggs, egg whites, bacon). Horrible store.

This store is a friendly place to shop and always has what I need. I personally like the South Lakes store more than the Hunter Woods store (I live between the two) largely due to the staff at the South Lakes one. The cashier named Bob is always helpful, friendly, kind to the kids, and is really helpful when you can get a better deal that you didnt realize were part of the adds. He takes the time to learn the adds for the week and then share them with the customers.Additionally Keira is always kind, professional and efficient. She is helpful and has pointed me in the right direction on more than one occassion.It is because of people like Bob and Keira that I like the staff in this store.

This store was already kind of a mess to begin with, but over the last year theyve started doing all kinds of dumb things to combat crime(there were shoplifting problems last year), not the least of which is completely removing the self checkout, which wouldnt be a problem if they actually had staff to make up for it, but they dont, so waits are awful(that being said, most of the staff are very nice people). They also lock down one of the doors after sundown and harass you if you bring a bag in.Overall, its really not worth going in anymore, it takes too long, and the CVS across the parking lot is generally better anyway.

Normally I dont have any problems here, but tonight (5th of March) I came up after getting off work, it was 11:52 and the doors were locked. Ive checked the hours and it says youre supposed to be open until 12:00. I work late so its hard for me to get there before 11:30, I only wanted a few items and easily would have been out by midnight with time to spare. I wouldnt complain about this except that it has happened several times before in the past, whats more, I went to check the side door and as I did someone walked out the front but when I got back the doors were still closed. I work in food service so I understand how hard it can be in customer service, but I have never worked anywhere where its ok to shut the doors early, even 8 minutes.

Yesterday, 03/18/2020 I went to buy water and other food and the cashier who attended me, did not know the promotions of the club card ... but the inconvenience was that he was upset when I told him that i am not carry certain products because it was not what said in their promotions newspaper and he called his boss ... But when he gave me the RECEIPT He COUGHT IT.. I was already late to pick up my son and there were several people from advanced age to pay because it took us a long time ... that is why I could not go to customer service ... but it has been a very bad experience especially due to the situation we are right now

This is the closest store to me, as I don’t have a car. Now that Bob has retired, it has no redeeming qualities. Selection on most items is extremely poor, and their self-checkout machines are outdated and don’t add convenience. I have also been given attitude by multiple staff on various occasions when asking benign questions.I’d rather spend the extra time and money taking the bus to the North Point Giant.

Poor store. Sale placards not removed in a timely manner when expired, so frustrating when checking out and finding out item is no longer on sale. This happens all the time or items dont ring up on sale. We have taken to using our phones to take pictures of the sale placards when we check out to have proof. This is a reflection of poor management IMHO. Additionally, they are out of certain popular items and never seem to restock. Have been many times and they have been out of the milk I like. I try to shop elsewhere, but this is convenient to my home so I will shop here when I have to. Not happy with this store at all.

Ever since they closed the self checkout lanes the lines are long (like they always used to be). Tonight I stood in a line for a few minutes, put my groceries back, and drove to Giant at Fox Mill. 3x further from my home but 10x faster because they still have self checkout. They wont put them back in unless they get lot of complaints and see their business fall off. Call 1877 SAFEWAY to complain.

This store is on par with all other Safeways now - not high end by any means, but clean and well stocked.Old post (no longer accurate):**The self-checkouts have been removed!!**Friendly staff at all of the counters, if not the fastest service. Max, Susan, and William are always professional and very helpful.So why dock two stars? Well if you were already irked by the long lines, youll be pleased to hear they just got longer. **The self-checkouts have been removed!!** and replaced with two regular registers. This wouldnt be an issue with proper staffing, except they cut four functioning registers and at most have four human registers open at any time. The wait time just quadrupled, even during off hours now its a while as they also have a stamp promo running.What a wonderful change just before the holidays. Thankfully other stores in the area have grocery pickup, so I only go to this safeway now if its an urgent or last-minute sundry item.

I was returning from downtown DC late at night and this Safeway was the closest grocery store to the Reston station. I shouldve looked a bit farther. My problems with this supermarket are selection is limited, most of the items are overpriced, and they were out of some rather basic items. In addition, this store seems to be pushing organic products everywhere, even to the exclusion of regular products, which is bad for someone like me who doesnt care for that overpriced stuff.

I dont usually write reviews and though this is mostly negative, I feel Safeway at South Lakes NEEDS to hear this. Check out lines are sooo long (like 20 minute lines), this store is understaffed all the time, self check-outs removed, post Albertsons buyout. The store is generally a mess, shelves are disorganized and obviously no one cares about stocking here, they are constantly out of the most popular items, this says no one is really paying atention to what sells the most. In addition the store on the overall is dirty if not filthy in places. From insects in the bakery trays to dirt and debris in the cold food shelves as well as random bad smells around the store (think rotten smells and dirty bathrooms). I dont think anyone cares about this store, it is obvious. I dont understand how other Safeways are nice, clean and organized and this one isnt, well yes I do, total MISMANAGEMENT. I would not shop here except out of pure convenience to my home.

And with the 5 stars they typically dont tell the SO CALLED GREAT experience because it doesnt exist. Aside from the horrible parking, YES the long lines are the biggest complaint, Ive complained to the store manager and his ghetto response was pretty vague and typical excuse of, my employee called in or they took out my self checkouts.
