Very nice spot near Saint Louis with two floors of seating with great lighting where you can find some excellent coffee and some tasty lunch as well. I got the Cold Brew with salted caramel cold foam. The cold brew was smooth as one could expect but the flavor that you got from the salted caramel foam was very strong and made for quite an interesting taste. I personally would have preferred a little bit less salt or a little bit more sweetness to balance the saltiness to make for a more balanced flavor.Prices are a little high in my opinion, however this place is definitely worth a try!
I come here 2-3 times a week to do research and other academic work and more than the impressive opening hours for a coffee shop, comfortable upstairs seating and delicious food, the customer service is what impresses me the most. Seriously. I don’t know how the staff members are trained but all of them have gone above and beyond in anticipating my needs and just being kind.
Currently very much enjoy the pistachio milk offering.Overall I can count on the quality of the beans for reliable home brewing. The specialty drinks are good, though at times the quality has not been consistent, especially more recently.Order time accuracy has been off, I’ve been notified that my order was ready, only to arrive and it not have been started. May just need an adjustment in the online order system.
Awful awful service the one day we go here. We had a little baby with us and placed an order. Said it would be 20 mins for food no problem kept waiting and waiting no food asked them to check on our order. Kept telling someone to check on our order so 50 mins later food finally gets to us after everyone else that ordered after us got their food. We have never been here and just how they handled this is ridiculous no discount nothing how disappointing this place is. Will never be back this was on Sunday 10/17. Just horrible. We were so mad. We were about to just leave and let this place take our money without getting the food it took so long. I will say it again the service was horrible.
I’ve been on two occasions. The food has never disappointed me, but the coffee is meh. It leaves a strange aftertaste. If you go I’d definitely get the avocado toast with everything. So good!
I was sold with the Aroma when I walked in the door.. I knew what ever I had was going to be Amazing..Mission accomplished..Ill be back
The food is so amazing here! I have tried almost everything on the menu, no misses! The staff is friendly and fast as well! Thank you Coma 🙏
Coma flies under the radar as a place for a fantastic cup of coffee in St. Louis. They offer locally roasted beans and everything from pour over coffee to a strawberry cappuccino and lots of options in between. My go to is the vanilla latte. They also have great food options or pastries to enjoy in their light, bright and spacious cafe.
Good food and coffee flights. Limited seating especially when people are working or studying there
Love this place. The el salvador coffee is delish . So much so I keep buying bags of it to take home.they have great service. Servers and employers are super nice. Had a breakfast biscuit breakfast with egg, cheddar and bacon which was crumbly deliciousness.
I don’t usually write reviews but this experience was so awful that I wanted to share. If you want a great day to turn sour try Coma Coffee. Hands down worst customer service I’ve had in a long time. St. Louis has a lot of great coffee shops with better service..try those instead.
Pistachio latte was pretty good. The coffee flight was all bitter dark roast.
This coffee is some of the best I’ve ever had. Just incredible
Loved this coffee shop!! The way orders are handled, keeps things streamlined and efficient and prioritizes social distancing, ensuring that the health of customers & staff is not compromised. Their selection of coffee/lattes is extensive and creative in a way that makes you excited to visit sooner rather than later. I definitely plan to visit again in the near future to try another drink on their menu!
The people were friendly enough, but the coffee was very sourly acidic, as well as expensive. I would not recommend or go back myself.
Good cold Brew. They always seem busy but they are pretty quick with their service. Will be back!
Great atmosphere and a wide range of delicious food and coffee. Also the people were super friendly!
Love that they have Companion Bakery baked goods in their meals! Great crunch and flavor on the sourdough breakfast sandwich. Their signature lattes are great too!
I ordered the super yogurt bowl, I expected sweet vanilla greek yogurt but instead got plain that tastes like sour cream…. anyone who has ate greek yogurt knows plain and vanilla are completely different lol. Tried other things and it was good tho just not the yogurt bowl LOL.
The best (kale) chicken caesar wrap in St. Louis when they remember the croutons. Just phenomenal. 10/10.
After having a bad experience here in the past, I decided to give it another chance since their coffee and pastries were delicious! I was wrong. Walking in, I felt a weird vibe from the lady behind the counter. She was huffing and puffing and rolling her eyes the entire time myself and the other ladies in my group were ordering. She never made eye contact with me while I was at the register and continued to throw my change at me, resulting in it all rolling off the counter. Its a bummer I will not return, but this seems to be a trend here considering all the negative reviews due to bad customer service! Seems like the owner needs to reconsider who she hires.
Wow! The Atmosphere is Awesome! The Cocktails To Die For! Can’t wait to try more of the menu! For Great Service Ask For Lee!
I have nothing negative to say regarding the coffee however I would not return here again because of the very poor customer service we received. It felt very much like the woman serving us was on a power trip. We initially did not wear our masks into the store bc of the new CDC guidelines. The employee asked us to put our masks on, which we did. The rest of the visit she obnoxiously focused on our masks, not allowing us to pay until our mask was high enough for her standards then with others in my group, she was visibly annoyed- rolling her eyes, roughly handling the items we ordered, and throwing the change onto the counter to another in our group. Through the entirety of our visit meanwhile, the other employee who was present clearly had his mask below his nose. Absolutely unimpressed by your service. Will not be returning.
The place was very busy from pick out orders, but the pour over I received and latte my wife ordered were both delicious and worth the wait.
Service was friendly and professional. However it was much slower than I was expecting for two breakfast burritos. Food is pretty good, but wasnt amazing. Cold brew was good but not great.
I go to coffee shops for good coffee but also for the atmosphere. My experience was very negative going to this coffee shop. The lady at the counter put me in a bad mood with her very negative attitude. She threw my brownie on the counter and did not apologize or offer a new one. Generally seemed like she was an unhappy person and it gave off a bad vibe.
The coffee and desserts I tried were very delicious but the reason I gave this a one star was for the customer service. Walking into the coffee shop, the lady working there told us all to put our masks over our nose. Meanwhile, the other employee only had his mask covering his mouth and left it like that the entirety of our visit. The employee was very disrespectful to all of the girls in our group and gave us dirty looks the whole time we were in the coffee shop. Not coming back again.
Odd experience. I came in Saturday morning early and ordered a latte and a scone. I received the scone immediately but after waiting 20 minutes I was seeing people that ordered much after me receive their drinks.I asked what was causing the delay for mine and was flatly told “we make drinks in the order received.” I asked again then why were they doing people who ordered well after me and was told she was making mine next.At this point I declined the drink without a refund as her attitude let me to believe she’d do something to my drink.
I had no idea this place existed but went and met a friend for an appetizer. Ended up ordering the steak salad (had to sub for blackened chicken bc they were out) and fried pickles. Delicious! The drink menu looked fantastic, I want to go back and try the espresso martini. My friend had the jalapeño Marg and said it was really good. Will definitely go back. Enjoyed the atmosphere, plus the menu is pretty extensive for what appears to be mostly a coffee and drinks place!
The place is nice and looks clean, bathrooms are clean and accessible, workers were very nice to us and helped us when needed.Food: coffee was warm but not hot, cakes were stale and cold and the breakfast sandwich was very basic (no seasoning)
Love Coma. Delicious coffee and food made from scratch!
Way better than Starbucks!
Great nitro cold brew!
Got an iced mocha (12oz!). VERY strong ESPRESSO flavor, more so than any other mocha i’ve ever had. it’s also VERY SWEET at the same time, like syrup sweet. it’s good but not a rich chocolate flavor at all. probs wouldn’t get again. very modern & plastic interior it looked life. staff is super friendly! next time will have to try something else
Best coffee shop in the STL. Their new space looks great and now that their selling alcohol I see myself coming backing multiple times a week.
Chef was really nice and courteous. Baristas seemed annoyed we walked in and felt awkward to converse with. They didn’t seem to appreciate questions being asked. It says they have “dine-in” however they will only take your order at the counter if you are to go, if you want to sit there you have to scan a QR code and order/pay from your phone. Not sure how that makes things any safer tbh. They are not offering their regular menu items. We really wanted to like this place as they seem to have great things and good marketing but they have lost their charm. I’m sure they were awesome before.
Yikes is really all I can say. Visit on Saturday, May 15, around 3:30pm. Baristas clearly didnt have much training. They couldnt answer basic questions about menu/products (what kind of roast is the drip coffee today? was met with blank stares...). Coffee didnt have much flavor, was a little too sour, too watery. Even though I was dining in, I was given a to-go cup for my drip coffee - sorry, no 16 oz mugs... Not much of a condiment bar for beverages. Sugar was completely out so there was much scrambling to find packets of sugar in the raw. As far as dairy, the only option was little containers of Coffeemate. I asked for half & half but was told that they didnt have any. If I wanted to open up 10 little containers of Coffeemate, I could just go to Quik Trip and get a 20oz coffee for $2. Plenty of seating and fairly fast wi-fi enabled me to get some work done. Staff were making no effort to sanitize between guests. I had to clean off my own table before sitting down. In sum, St. Louis continues to suffer from a dearth of quality coffee shops. Pre-Covid, I always looked forward to my out-of-town trips to Chicago (Intelligentsia!), Portland, NYC, etc. Management/owners here seem a bit clueless about the overall customer experience. Greatness is in the details and the details at Coma need some work.
Recently had Coma delivered through Postmates. It was a hit and miss order to say the least. The pumpkin chai drink was the highlight, it was delicious. The coffee tasted odd and it was not very appealing. I had the buffalo chicken wrap which was delicious, but the side I ordered was missing. The real story was my girlfriend’s BLT, it was comically awful. It was missing the avocado addition and the bread was so huge and thick that you couldn’t even bite down. The side we ordered with that was also missing. Just a disappointing experience for two people who are normally easy to please.
So, I’ve been going to Coma since it’s inception. I pride myself in knowing quite a bit about coffee as it’s been a passion of mine for quite a long time. Coma pours THE BEST espresso I’ve ever had the pleasure to taste. The lattes are sublime and the baristas are top notch, friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about their craft. The owners and staff have worked very hard to make Coma a next level establishment. They’ve succeeded. In this uncertain time, they’ve also pivoted and made the necessary adjustments to continue bringing their quality product to their customers. My only challenge....I must move closer to be able to visit everyday.
Fun place to eat 😋
First time there bad service. We sat down got a to go coffee cup instead a ceramic up. I asked why, barista said it was a mistake and when she saw it coffee was already made and did not seem to care. I asked to make a new one in a ceramic cup and she gave me a ceramic cup to pour the one i got to go myself.
This place is amazing. Great coffee, food, and atmosphere
I have been going to COMA for a couple years now, so this review is long overdue. I mostly buy their whole roasted beans to brew at home, but I love having an excuse to buy their drinks and breakfast. In terms of quality roasted beans, they are one of my top two in all of St. Louis. The first thing I want to highlight is their great response to the Covid-19 pandemic. I have stopped going to some other restaurants after witnessing their weak attempts at re-opening in a safe way. COMA has almost become more convenient with their curbside pickup, all while nailing the safety aspect. Its also great to see how involved they are with the local community. Ive see them at the Maplewood coffee crawl, and have learned about multiple other small businesses in the area because of their collaborations. Finally, and maybe most importantly, the coffee is very, very good. They are definitely a third-wave coffee shop that cares about quality at every step, from their drip to their specialty espresso drinks!
I had the Toasted Marshmallow Latte with oatmilk and it was SO. DAMN. GOOD. Everything I wanted out of my morning latte. They had several unique and delicious sounding lattes, it was hard to choose. Will 100% be going back for more.
Delicious coffee with a modern industrial vibe.
The taste of the coffee was really great. I also liked the atmosphere -modern and spacious. The reason I took off the stars was because of this over-priced salad I got. It was $8 and in a plastic container even if I said I’d eat here. Everyone else’s meal was served with dishes. Glad I am on a diet but if I weren’t I couldn’t fill my stomach with this small portion of salad. The taste itself was good.
Great service and lattes!
Food was GREAT! a little pricy, in my opinion, but you really get what you pay for. Easy walk from the hotel.
Wonderful staff with amazing food and drinks. It is easy to tell they put the special in specialty coffee. Attention to detail in their offerings as well as customer service. Top runner for best STL coffee shop imo.
Excellent vanilla latte
Espresso was sour, not any crema. Coffee watery.
Good curbside. Decent coffee. Decent breakfast sandwich.
Good coffee but honestly very, very rude staff. I will choose to support other businesses next time.
Delicious coffee and friendly service. Any of their roasts are great, as well as their cold brew! Check out their Instagram page where they post some of their food and drink options
Im sitting in my car outside with greesy hands and a full belly. The biscuit sandwich had me dancing in my seat. I am considering going in for a doughnut for myself. I ordered an old fashioned blue berry doughnut for my husband and think an order of 4 more would serve us so well. BRAVO. So good.
Great coffee and great atmosphere.
🤤
Now that Ive traveled to a good amount of craft coffee bars and shops I can honestly say this place is good. Not great, but far from bad. Their coffee is really good, nothing drastically different though. If you like a nice relaxed coffee shop youll like this place!
What a great find! Extremely well done espresso--deeply creamy with a complex milk chocolate and syrup nature similar to a well done stout. I loved the matcha latte with oatmilk--rich green matcha/seaweed flavor with no added sugar, just the rich creaminess imparted by the oat milk.
I had a drip coffee yesterday and taste was so good and also had breakfast. This place is cool as ever. Fast and reliable service. Had a good time there. Highly recommended if you need an instant coffee with taste.
I feel like Ive reviewed Coma before, but Ill do it again: this is the best roaster in St Louis Ive had. Theyre a phenomenal Third Wave roaster that produces consistently some of my favorite coffee in the country. Im never disappointed with the quality here. And if you happen to have time, their pastries are delicious as well.
Awesome coffee and food. Great staff!
You CAN get BEVERAGES including DRIP coffee. The food and staff are as wonderful as the coffee! Macy, the owner, is doing a wonderful job. She and her staff have created my favourite place for coffee in the Midwest!
Excellent coffee. The Americano was not at all bitter. Wide selection of fun drinks like cold brew and marshmallow latte. Fast service and friendly staff.
One of my favorite coffee spots in the city. They roast their own coffee and seem to love to do it which I think makes their coffee smell and taste fantastic. In all of their coffee drinks, the drink tastes like rich delicious coffee first, and whatever you add to it second. The place is great for studying or working because its typically quiet. Love the design work and the staff are all always really kind. Oh, and the blueberry donut, yall. Just do it. Try it with the iced latte and have a good day. 💛
We ordered a cappuccino and black coffee and both were incredibly smooth and flavorful. Their brunch offerings were great as well and complemented our coffee. Some of the best coffee Ive had in St Louis.
Good coffee and pastries. Cold brew is great. The environment is a nice, large area with outdoor seating available, too. A little pricey for what it is, but not much more than other high-end coffee shops. Its sometimes a bit chilly inside.
Beautiful coffee in a beautiful space.
The staff is really professional and friendly. The coffee is good and delicious. The service is excellent and I love the place because it is comfortable and relaxing.
I buy my coffee beans here and get a free cup of their drip coffee and it is good good bean juice. Beans are cheaper than Sump and its easy to get in and out in the morning before work
I really enjoyin my visit to Coma Coffee, the service was excellent. Cameron was genuine and very informative. I had a lot of questions in regards to coffee and making espresso, he answered all of them. He went above and beyond to show me the timing and different flavor profiles for espresso. I highly recommend going to Coma Coffee and learning from Cameron.
I am in love with this shop. The I Am So Zen and Dirty Chai lattes give me life! The people are always friendly and the location is so calming and cute. Never a bad cup of coffee here. And if you’re munchy, their food is legit too
Great black ice tea, super smooth. Place is decent size, a little sterile, but overall a good experience.
I highly recommend this for anyone who loves coffee or wants to learn more about it. Their oat milk chai latte is divine too! Recently they added food to their menu and its a welcome and delicious addition.
I got a mocha, espresso was nice but didnt taste any chocolate. My husband got the seasonal latte and that was fantastic. Ill have to try em again sometime, curious if the sad mocha was a fluke or if thats just how they make them.
Great third wave coffeeshop with creative offerings. I came in for the coffee flight and was not disappointed. Reasonable prices relative to other third wave shops. Ambiance is welcoming and modern.
I love Sump and Catalyst, but Coma is my favorite coffee in St Louis. Always smooth and never over-roasted. Straight espresso, latte, pour over, drip... all amazing. Even their treats are great. I travel a lot for work and Coma is in my top five favorite places in the country to get coffee (with Amethyst in Denver, Cartel in Scottsdale, Bow Truss in Chicago, and Render in Boston). If you havent gone and this convinced you too go, then youre welcome! If you wonder why I take the time to write all of this up, its because Im a coffee fanatic and I want to make sure they stay around for years.
COMA is great for a quick bite to eat and a delicious cup of coffee. I just recently bought their ground packaged coffee to make at home. It is just as good as it is in the store! I would highly reccomened go any coffee and/or pastry lovers! There is something for everyone!
