Mostly a good shopping experience. A good range of pricing. Its a large very busy place this time of year (Dec. 2020), but most (not all) of the sales staff helped me find (or went to find) what I was searching for.

Got my third guitar here today and the service was exceptional! thank you Justin for helping me pick a good guitar and offering assistance when needed!

Let me start by saying this is a GREAT guitar center. For starters, the employees are genuinely helpful and have had my back and helped me several times when I’ve had issues with guitar center’s online returns/insurance policies which is honestly my favorite thing about this location when comparing it to others. Oh and they ~usually~ have a better selection of instruments than other locations and have always been happy to set up a room for me to try guitars/pedals/amps in which might can be considerably more difficult to do at other locations even though it shouldn’t be. I wish I could give them a 6/5 because this should be the gold standard for guitars centers in my opinion. Plus it’s right next to Sam Ash so it’s essentially a one stop shop for your music needs.

Ive always had good service when i go there. Also i highly recommend their guitar tech Jake. Hes a master at his craft and kept me up to date on his progress. I gave him a nearly broken guitar and he made it llook good as new.o

Not The best guitar center experience compared to others I’ve been to. The Sam ash next door was able to help me with an issue with my guitar and explain some issues I was having and also had a better selection and friendlier staff. I’d go there again before this guitar center

2 Amazing guitar stores directly next to one another is something Ive never heard of before. Employees here were awesome and helpful, lots of variety with the guitars here from Fender to ESP to Gibson to PRS, they have it all, as well as pedals, strings, amps, ect.Again, amazing store, would almost certainly return :)

The customer service manager is VERY helpful. I ordered a guitar online which was poorly packaged. It got damaged in shipping. I returned it to the Richmond Virginia location. Matt the customer service manager was very helpful in locating another one.He is the only bright spot in my dealings with Guitar Center. For the most part they have horrible customer service. Not helpful. Rude online agents.

Lousy selection. Unfriendly staff. Store was in awful condition. These employees dont care. Electronic drum area was a joke. Couldnt really try anything. I bought from Sweetwater instead.

Very poor communication and customer service. Drove here yesterday after placing 2 orders online. One was for a guitar, the other was for things to go with that guitar. I checked “pickup in store,” on both of these orders, and I MADE SURE THAT ALL THE ITEMS WERE IN STOCK AT THIS SPECIFIC LOCATION. However, when we arrived to the store, we couldn’t find their “contactless parking” as described in the email until we walked in. When we were being helped by one of the people there, he could not comprehend what we were there for, despite me explicitly telling him the make and model of the guitar, the fact that I received an email stating it was ready for pickup. He handed me the guitar and I again needed to remind him about the second order for a gig bag, stand, and some strings, (the gig bag being the most important so I could transport the guitar safely home.) After searching through the system a few times, he stated that they didn’t have the items, (which again THE WEBSITE SAID WERE IN STOCK AT THIS LOCATION.) I asked him if we could cancel the order, and I could just buy the stuff there. Again, I felt like I needed to convince him of what I was trying to do. He eventually told me they couldn’t do a return for 24 hours, and “that’s why he tells people to pick up those things when they come in,” (again ordered online, and the website SAID THEY WERE IN STOCK AT THIS SPECIFIC LOCATION!!!!) so not sure how we were going to have that conversation prior to me coming in. I ended up spending twice what I would have, because they didn’t have the correct gig bag in stock. I asked if we could call the next day, (since we live about an hour’s drive,) to do the return and he said yes. I woke up to an email this morning that said the order, (which I definitely checked pickup in store on, as I checked my original confirmation email,) had now “shipped.” I have no interest in trying to communicate in whatever language these idiots speak anymore, and realize that it’s less difficult to just have the extra items, than deal with the sheer stupidity and piss poor customer service.

Staff is nice and they have a good standard of as selection of gear. The place itself looks like its never been revamped since it opened. But it works

I like it! Looking at the pictures and instruments your dreams develop wings. Friendly staff, they give you space to check out things out and I appreciate that! Prices are reasonable and theyre happy to order anything that may be out of stock

Great selection of instruments and accessories. Didnt see a thing or two like a desk rest for a guitar. Other than that, this is a good spot. Place was a bit empty cuz of a high customer rate so that should tell you how many people go to this shop.

Just visited this afternoon 3/11/21 from about 12:50pm to 2 pm. Was outnumbered 3-1 by their employees. Almost no customers save for me. I played 8-9 different pianos and waited for help. Not one single employee approached to help me. They were all buzzing around unpacking and restocking but seemingly had no use for me. Sorry I interrupted their work. Clearly they have better things to do than ask patrons if they need assistance. Avoid at all costs.

Everyone was super helpful even though I was that guy that came in less than an hour to close wanting to ask a bunch of questions and try multiple instruments. I received nothing but great answers and great customer service. Im a happy owner of a new bass.

Terrible customer service. I waited for a week for something a guitar to ship to guitar center. Called on estimated delivery date and the man i spoke with said it was delivered and they were getting it ready for me. Deove 3 hours to the store to pick it up and no guitar was ever delivered. Guitar center is terrible. Shop elsewhere.

Had a great Experience of this guitar center the associate I worked with whose name is Tim hes very knowledgeable with Drum equipment and guitars.I couldnt find a PRS Hollowbody 2 piezo anywhere but he found one at a store in Nashville had it shipped free of charge just so I could play it! My wife picked it up for me since i was out of town but he played it for me on facetime. Awesome experience!

Inventory very low. Very paranoid about the virus. Still all we got.

We were just shopping for our daughter’s ukulele (on Santa’s behalf) and had Chelsea assisting us. She spent a lot of time with us from the beginning to the end, made great suggestions based on her expertise and was extremely patient and understanding! Most importantly, she was personable and polite and truly tried to keep our best interest in mind. It was an overall great experience and we would strongly encourage last minute Santa shoppers to use the store.

Not a bad place to grab music gear, but this Guitar Center isnt as well staffed or kept up as others. They offer both new and used instruments and equipment. The rooms are well organized by music type, for instance the acoustic guitars are enclosed in a room where you can hear yourself. The drummers have a room. The DJ and lighting gear was very impressive. Guitar Center is well known for variety and useful items both for professional and aspiring musicians.

I have only had great experiences from this GC. Special shout out to Jake for his professional work on my little git-box. Quality people here with a great attitude. You will like shopping here!

Kinda blank. I went in and wanted to look at headphones and they had a few. Might as well just go to best buy. Everything else was pretty stocked though.

Ive always liked the folks at the Guitar Center. Years back Richmond Youth Jazz Guild organized a fundraiser, a concert. We brought Trombone Shorty up from New Orleans to do a master class and then perform that evening. We needed a back line or most of the heavier instruments to try and keep costs down for the band. The manager Guitar Center stepped right up and without hesitation allowed us to bring percussion, amplifiers,and a number of other needed equipment for the concert to be a success. Just want to say thank you to Guitar Center for being so generous and helpful!

I had a warranty issue with an amp I bought back in January 2018. My girlfriend and I dealt with Justin and Nick (Store Manager). They were both very helpful and wanting to make sure we had a resolution in store before we left. They made EVERYTHING as painless as possible and I will be doing business with them again soon.

Just okay. Big box music store. Decent prices but you can find most online for half the cost. Dont even think about selling your gear to them. They barely give 30% of retail value. Better off touring your local biz.

I went in looking for my first guitar and armed only with opinions I had found online. The employee I worked with listened to me, answered my questions and helped me find a great instrument. The friend who is helping me learn to play is very impressed and I was happy with the service I received and the price.

I go into guitar center with my guitar in hand. I just need to know where the strings are to replace a string. I stand at customer service, No one comes. There are 3 employees right next to me who say nothing to me. I walk past the cashier, nothing. Finally I stand in line at the repair shop, he’s talking to a customer, but no one speaks to me the entire time. Finally I leave the store and as I leave someone says have a good day.

Extremely knowledgeable, patient and helpful staff. My niece was looking for her first electric guitar. Chelsea and Trey explained all features and offered advice without being overbearing. Staff is very friendly and helpful in my experience. The bass section is somewhat smaller compared to Sam Ash next door but the quality is good. They have Markbass amps and other smaller rigs which seem to be the trend now over dragging the 8x10 fridge around. Theyre also willing to order in products from online.

It was a musicians paradise. Everyone was super nice and helpful. I was going to test out a cajon for the first time and I got to play all of them in the store with only 15 minutes left till they closed and no one tried to rush me out or even sell me anything. Im sure they would have suggested things if I asked but just being able to walk in and jam out was great. There was a kid ripping on a guitar with his mom watching and another guy that just jumped on a drum set and started playing too. Im not good at any instrument but am aspiring to learn at the age of 32 so if anyone is in my shoes or just want to check it out I would highly suggest guitar center for sure. Ill be back very soon

I took 2 little boys that life music to see if they could put their hands on some real instruments. Not only could they put their hands on the instruments they were encouraged to buy the employees. Sales rep was very helpful with in store items. Also on special orders. Knowledgeable on synthesizers and software. He went out of his way to locate specific items I was looking for.

Shopped online, went in to test what I was interested in and wound up buying at the store since the service was so good and they agreed to match the discount I found on their sister companys site - Musicians Friend. Better than Sam Ash (which is next door) in terms of NEW products. Sam Ash has better selection of used stuff on consignment. Just depends on what you are shopping for.

Evan is an awesome tech. Took my PRS 7 in for a setup and he nailed it. Fast turnaround too. He’s also a decent dude with relevant knowledge of modern music and gear. Will be going to him whenever I need work done.

I have nothing but good to say about this store. I have shopped here for the last 10 years and even though i will occasionally price check on higher ticket items with their next door neighbor, they always have the best price, and service with a smile. Sam Ash just seems to have employees that care more about making their comission than the musicians. Whether youre coming into Guitar Center for a new pedal, or a new guitar, they have experts such as Cole that will ask the right questions to get you the right gear for what youre looking for.

The lights came back on after 2 minutes but I was surprised they dont have a generator. Anyways, they offer music lessons but you have to schedule them on the instructors time frames. They have hundreds of guitars, instruments and equipment

A good place for most musicians to find what they need. Guitars, basses, both new and used. Keyboards, recording gear, dj, and live sound needs are all well represented. Music books and some recordings, digital and vinyl. The staff are nice, helpful, and not at all high pressure. Great store.

Jake Morley is the guitar tech at this location and let me tell you: he is genuinely one of the BEST. Hes done several setups, pickup swaps, and full guitar re-wirings for me.Typically Id be nervous about bringing my instruments to the big-box guitar stores but Jake knows what hes doing, keeps you in the loop, and seriously loves what he does. We need more techs like him in town, but honestly hes my go-to specialist.I knew him before he started at GC but his skills have only improved and it turns out they treat him right. Wicked.If your guitar is limping along or you just need to swap your Tele bridge pickup; whatever it is - call GC and request that Jake work on your axe.

Registration fee waived!($30) and a gift bag.I had an intro session for 15 min with an instructor who was so helpful. He showed me some things to practice and Im so ready to go back for my first official lesson. Ive always wanted to learn guitar! My Dads both played and 2 of my daughters play!! Ordered a brand new Jackson pro series soloist. The first one came in beat the hell up and missing parts. They were so embarrassed they got another one next day air. Its beautiful, the service was great and I will definitely be shopping here in the future.

Great talented staff who are knowledgeable with guitars, software, and equipment. Highly reccomend to those who are beginners looking to get their first shot, or veterans looking for a place to share/learn knowledge and purchase new strings, etc. They also have drums, midi stuff, acoustic/electric and practice material of all sorts.

Nice place. Good gear. Employees are a bit too eager. As soon as you touch anything a salesman jumps on you. Especially if its an instrument. They cant seem to understand that a musician has to have a connection with the instrument. I dont know if I connect if as soon as I touch it a person is bugging me. Trust me if there is a connection and I want to buy the instrument or I have some concern, I will contact them.

What can I say about a place that refuses to charge me for restringing an electric guitar for my nephew who was just diagnosed with cancer? The words music community have never been more true.
