It was cool! Jessica Jones was good
Jcpenney salon is nothing but a money making scam. The store manager sets the tone of the salon. And I was not impressed by her attitude nor performance!! The services offered are not the best!!! You may have long wait times or stylist who leave you in the care of other stylist. Prices quoted on the phone magically change once youre in the styling chair. And lets not forget all of the added charges theyll mention once theyre ringing you up. Please do yourself a favor....and find a stylist who cares about you and your hair!!! Im so thankful that I did.
In June 2020, I went to JCPenney hair salon to have a wave nouveau system applied to my thick, healthy, natural hair by Tasha Shavers, who did a great job. On September 27, 2020, I returned with 3 of new growth and in need of a touch up. During this visit, Stephanie Boone-Owens, the hair salon manager, styled my hair because Tasha was not available.Boone-Owens ruined my hair by failing to follow instructions. She should have applied the product exclusively to the virgin growth; rather, she applied it to all my hair. When I left the salon the hair was curly but the next morning it became stringy, limp, and straight. I made a follow up appointment with Boone-Owens that she did not keep, and I have not heard from her since. So, I contacted the salon and reached Tasha, who attempted to restore the curls. She concluded that Boone-Owens had over processed my hair, and that I would have to wait 3 months before the product could be reapplied. After waiting 3 months and wearing baseball caps, I returned to the salon only to learn that Boone-Owens had forbidden Tasha from styling my hair, because she feared I was going to sue the store.I have since learned from Softsheen/Carson, the manufacturer of wave nouveau system, that my hair was irreparably damaged and would need to be cut off, which I did in December 2020. JCPenneys management never acknowledged the damage done to my hair. Boone-Owens has no business managing anything or styling hair. Mr. Links, the JCP supervisor, informed me that JCPenney has received several complaints regarding Boone-Owens from other customers. The salon is managed and staffed with incompetent, lying people who have no business serving the public.I have filed a complaint with the Mississippi State Board of Cosmetology.
My appointment was for 3:00 p.m. I did not get in the chair until 4:00. My natural hair is thick with tight curls. The stylist complained the whole time about how tired she was and that she had been working with clients with thick hair all day. She also left me in the hands of another stylist while she went to her car to grab money for lunch. She had to borrow another stylist flat iron and edge control.I felt like the entire process was rushed and I looked like a frizzy poodle when leaving. I will never get my hair done at this place again.
After working for JCPENNEY they have pros and cons. Ive witnessed alot but most of all. The Gm has to lead by exampleThen all of the staff under will fall in place. Its all about numbers and not the care of the employees. You need employees to cater to your customers. They have an extreme turnover rate. Customers are overcharged and asked to tip on top of the high price services but poorly delivered quality work in salon. Reviews speak for itself and they only had 2 before I posted. Again the mgr. did the reviews and not the customers. Reviews tell everything. As well as Google the business history. Ive been gone almost 2 years and havent heard anything positive since my departure to move on. I hope this enlightens some of you. This was being honest and nice. It can be worse but Ill leave that part out.
