August is so unbelievably kind. He called me and gave me all the details I needed, we set up a meeting time to tour the facility and when I showed up, he was actually there! It wasn’t someone else giving me the tour, I walked in and he knew who I was as soon as I said I was here for an 11 o clock. Extremely professional, extremely helpful. Great service!!

Compass storage is climate controlled and clean! Everyone is so helpful and the have packing supplies and a few uhaul rental vehicles. Very convenient!

Review for 1/18/21 5.05pm. The lady at the front desk was very impolite!. I understand the take a customer at a time, however, this lady directed to place a call and then told me, just so you know, Im attending to someone and will not be picking up the phone. I was willing to wait but that attitude needs to be addressed. I hope the owner sees this and train this lady appropriately otherwise she has a bad attitude that wont sustain any good business!

1/7/21 Update-At it once again. Yet another rate hike. When I inquired about it, I was given alternate sizes for less money. Funny thing about that was I was emailed that 10 x 5’s were between $64-102 and 10 x10’s were between $129-142, even though they are advertised on their site for $49 and $114, respectively, so I guess they now give a rate hike before you actually rent the unit as well.UPDATE...Since I cant reply to managements response...Thank you for the condescending explanation. I understand basic supply and demand. That being said, there have been three new indoor/climate-controlled storage facilities added within a five-mile radius to the area in the past three years. In addition, if the supply was tight, you would not be advertising the exact same unit for 50% less every month. I have zero problem with increasing rates to cover normal business expenses and to even increase profitability a percent or two. What I have a problem with is a blanket policy which automatically increases roughly 10% every six months, or 20% annually, in an increasing supply environment.RENTER BEWARE...I have experienced many price increases since renting a storage unit here. To date, my price has gone from 67.50 to $142 (up 210%), and that is with complaining and having them adjust it a few times. While the storage units are nice, the uncertainty of what the bill will be next month is not worth it. Instead of compromising, I had to switch units (exact same size) just to get the advertised price on their website when I probably would’ve been satisfied to just keep it the same as it was (before the last increase) and keep the same unit. With the supply of other indoor/climate-controlled units coming into the area, don’t be surprised when people start leaving because of their customer service.

Compass is clean, the price is right, and the staff was super helpful! For a medium (about 1 1/2 bedroom apt) unit its right around $70.00 a mo. The whole place is climate controlled and accessible. The security gives you peace of mind that you can comfortably store your things without any doubt that they are safe and secure. If you are looking for a place to store your things you should give Compass a try!

Visited the location today for my old antiques that I have been holding onto for the past years. Have heard a lot of good things about Compass Storage, very clean and very safe I will definitely be getting a storage unit for my belongings. The staff was excellent! Shelly helped me, she was very kind and on point with every question that I asked her. She went above and beyond to make sure that I was taken care of. She sure does know her stuff and knows how to interact very well.

You have to try them.If you are looking for a climate controlled storage facility, this is the place to get your unit, easy access all the time, if you have small items, you can bring them in their side access or if you have larger bulkier things in the back of your pickup and need to unload closer, you can drive to the back and unload in one of two covered unloading parking spots.Their cargo elevators are very spacious and have wall lines to prevent damaging your furniture.With the controlled access, you have nothing to worry about as far as security.

My experience was great. I came in to look at a unit, and Jackie showed me around, I also was shown the locks and some of the supplies I might need. I also asked a question about moving company and Shelly gave me a good company to call. Im going to rent in early March. No need to look any further for a storage company, the management sold me on Compass. See you guys in March!!!

I went into the Compass Self Storage on Avon Road in Rochester Hills and was greeted by Audrey. She made my visit and my selection of a storage unit easy.

I utilized a lot of product from Compass last summer when I moved to Florida from Michigan. In fact I spent over $1000 on that product which overall served me well. One of the products was stretch wrap which was required by the company that loaded my furniture. When I got to Florida and unloaded I found that they had not used any of it. I went back to Compass to return it where I was told I could not return it anywhere except the store where I originally bought it. So I put it back until my recent trip and loaded it in my suitcase so I could take it back to that store. It did put me over weight limits so that I had to pay more for my baggage. Then when I got back to Michigan, I took it back to the original store where I was told that they accept no returns! There’s no communication of that up front so I was/am very upset about the way this went down. Their product is very good but very highly priced so a no-return policy is a double whammy. To spend over $60 on two rolls of stretch wrap and not be able to return it is ridiculous! Then to get the run-around and pay an extra $15 airline baggage expense only to find out there are no returns is even more ridiculous! I’ll never do business with them again and recommend you follow suit!

This storage facility and their customer service reps are REALLY wonderful! My husband and I have been managing our daughter’s space for a few years now while she’s serving in the military. She’s currently deployed in Afghanistan. At the time we booked this facility, we were still living in Michigan. However, we moved to Florida last year, making it a little more challenging to manage. Audrey, one of the onsite managers, has bent over backwards over the past year to notify us when the prices have changed and our daughter’s automatic payment arrives a little “short” (sometimes we miss their price update emails!) We’re so grateful for their attention to detail, saving us from the occasional late fee! The other onsite manager, Shelly, at the Avon facility was super helpful to us yesterday when my husband and I were having trouble with the lock on our daughter’s space. Let me also mention, that both managers always have a smile on their face while working to address any issues. I would highly recommend this storage facility if you’re looking for great customer service and a personal touch! In addition, it’s a very clean and well-kept operation!

Based on my experiences, as someone that has rented several units for many years here, I would not recommend this particular facility to anyone. I highly suggest finding a storage unit somewhere else if you have any option to do so whatsoever. I have had multiple units here for 5+ years now. I was happy with the place when I first got them but lately I have found myself irritated, frustrated & dissatisfied. Once I went there at night (I pay for 24 hour access) only to discover that even though my account was paid up as always with direct debit, they had mistakenly locked me out of my unit when they meant to put the lock on the one next to me. I contacted the 24 hour hotline and was told that the manager would come up in the next 30 minutes to remove the lock that was incorrectly put on my unit. After an hour had passed with no sign of a manager, I called back and the lady said that she talked to the manager and that they lived 30 minutes away and I quote didnt feel like driving all the way out there tonight, but would take care of it in the morning, in spite of my having waited for nearly an hour at that point. Needless to say, that was infuriating. Admittedly, its possible that my review might be a bit overly negative due to the impact of this particular situation though, because it left me especially angry and otherwise, its actually a nice facility. I believe there is new management from when this happened as well. Should this be the case, I will update my review after I have had a chance to actually experience things under the new management for a while.

I just rented my unit with Compass Self Storage. Right from the beginning, Ryan and Jen conducted themselves professionally and were very personable. Ryan showed me all the security measures they have and I feel so confident that my belongings are safely stored away, but accessible to me anytime I need them. After going to many other places, I can say with confidence that this is the one storage facility where I felt I was getting a great deal for a great service. They made sure I was getting the best price they could offer, even considering I was renting the last available unit of the most popular size! Not to mention, this was the only place we looked at that didnt make me nervous about fitting my massive couch through the door and into my storage unit. :)

Dont use!! I dont see any current reviews so maybe the previous comments were from previous owners! We have used Compass storage since our office moved in December...In June of this year I received a rate increase, when I called to question the increase I was told they would look into it and get back to me. When I did not get a call back I phoned them again, this time to be told the now I was to pay a late few! Late free?? I was waiting for a call back from your staff! After paying the bill, and late fee I was informed that this company does a rate increase every 6-12months...No increase of benefits or services just an increase in the monthly fee! They state that you dont have to sign up for a 12 month contact put unless you pay 12months in advance they have a right to increase your fee twice a year! Not a company I will ever deal with again!!!!!
