A very cool selection, but the square footage is deceiving. Overall, on the small side as B&N stores. As of time of review, there is no longer an attached coffee shop.
Super friendly staff, encouraged discounts and coupons. Great layout to store.
Tons of good University of Rochester swag here! Also, they were very kind to replace a sweatshirt that accidentally didnt make it into our shopping bag yesterday while at the checkout.
The store manager helped finds books I was looking for as soon as possible. I could not buy them online because discrepancies in my syllabus. I also spent less money because I had the option to compare prices for between buying new books, used books, or renting them. Consequently, I was able to make the right decision for myself based on my budgets. The store manager was also respectful, professional, and provided me with great customer service. She answered all my questions clearly.
Great place to shop for your u of r school spirit supplies
This is a great place to buy a university t-shirt, but as a B&N book store it is disappointing. I found it very uninviting.
It is located at a very good place. The store offers a good variety of books. There is a coffee shop attached. The store is big, clean and well maintained. It is a franchise but they accept Barnes and Noble card and offer the same Barnes and Noble card discount as regular stores. Parking is at both at the front and back (more parking space available at the back) entrance. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
Friendly, helpful and professional staff. Carson helped me find the books that my 12 year needed, many books for everyone, and anyone for reading fun!
Got the books I wanted and ordered the ones they didnt have
It is not a regular book store but a university store, so the selection of book is limited
Horrible experience. The manager was rude and threw the book back at his cashier and said to her he can either take it or leave it, when he wouldnt honor a price match that their website specifically says theyll do. Even she appeared to be in shock. Ill be reaching out to professors to ensure that I have the required materials well in advance so that I can order off of Amazon for cheaper and never have to deal with this place again.
Selection isnt perfect for apparel but you get the essentials and theyre solid quality brands. Although, $20 for a Champion shirt is a little steep for me. It is clean and well organized. If you have a B&N membership they cant look up your phone number to get you points but theyll usually at least give you your member discount which is nice.
Really friendly staff and a nice location. Not a huge selection of books outside of the college class scope, but they have new releases and most big name books. Theyre always running deals too, was able to pick up The Institute by Stephen King for 30% off not long after its release.
We have our Mens Bible Study there once a month and its a great place not just for us, but for the College Students to study. The staff is Courteous and the bathrooms are emaculate. Just a great comfortable setting.
Not a bad little store, its definitely geared more for college kids
Love this store. The people here are so kind and helpful.
The Bookseller was a great helper and somewhat knowledgeable about the subject. We ended up ordering the book at Monroe B&N in which we put on hold. Thank you so much for that excellent. Customer service.
Went here with my crush and he bought a poetry book and some pens. he then proceeded to analyze poetry in my car for half an hour. i am in love. thank you barnes & noble
Even though it primarily serves as a campus bookstore for URochester students, it is easily accessible to the general public. We can easily bring out-of-town visitors there to get souvenirs for both the city & the University of Rochester as well as get the usual Barnes & Noble quality offerings.
Great selection. Very welcoming. Excellent customer service. Great place to relax and enjoy a good book.
Nice, friendly and respectful staff.
Prices are not the best, but thats probably to be expected from a store like Barnes and Noble. They do price match with Amazon (fulfilled by Amazon) and one other website I believe.
Very large selection and great service as well. There are a lot of places nearby to grab a bite to eat after picking out a new book. They also have U of R merchandise and a bike rack out front for those traveling by bike. Nothing better than grabbing a book and sitting in a cafe drinking some tea or coffee.
The selection is as expected, good recent titles with special editions of classics available. I did not purchase anything. I dont remember anyone offering to help but they had plenty of staff in view of I needed anyone.
Clean, quiet and classic barnes and noble. The cafe attached has a variety of coffee, drinks, and snacks available with plenty of seating. Its a two floor location with a wheelchair accessible elevator to access both floors. There are lots of college memorabilia and items for purchase. Book and periodical selection is limited. School supplies and textbooks are on second floor.
Always enjoy my trips to B & N. Unique things specific to the UR.
Nice Starbucks cafe.. I would liked if they were a bit more lit.
This store is pretty well- stocked but their hours are less than desired. They close exceptionally early!
Store is Beautiful and filled with all the neccessary books and items needed for the college students who live right next door. Great cafe serving starbucks and lots of shops close by for other needs. Prices are a little high.
Helpful staff but some required textbooks for courses have been out of stock for over a month now.
Very nice place, you can find UofR apparel. My kids both found books. The entire family enjoyed the experience.
I love Barnes and Noble, but the college versions arent as good as the regular standing stores. 2/3 of the store is dedicated to college merch, school supplies, and textbooks.
Everytime Ive gone the tip floor is closed and it is my least favorite of the barns and nobles. But I still love barns and Noble.
This review is specifically for the textbook rental service. I honestly dont think Ive given a bad review for something since about 2013 but this entire service is shady and the customer service was horrendous.Im not sure why I ever strayed from Amazon and would strongly recommend checking their selection first - save yourself the headache. I just *purchased* my books for spring semester there and paid less than half of what I paid to *rent* from B&N in the fall (for an almost identical order as far as workload/number of textbooks, etc. goes). You live and you learn!
Very clean and neat, I always find a good book to read in here. Many choices
Big store. Friendly and helpful employees in College/Town U of R
Nice store, only problem was the high prices on the University gear. Dont get me wrong, there is some very nice attire but prices seemed quite a bit higher than they should have been.
The University Bookstore has most of the books you will need but not all, and like any other university store is overpriced. However they will price match things on amazon. The shelves on the second floor where the textbooks are located may look somewhat sparse at times because of their fluctuating availability. Overall the bottom floor has improved a lot and now had a small cafe that comes off of it. There are some standing desks with outlets and chairs to do work on. The store sells a variety of clothing, stationary, cards, books, etc. as well. It also contains some med/nursing specific medical instruments on the second floor. It even sells university logo hot sauce? Overall a good place to grab something quick if youre in a jam, or want to get some school themed apparel.
All the tools you need for class, coupled with excellent service and a variety of options to get your materials.
Great place to just sit back and read a book you find interesting. Love this place!
Good place for essentials, some UofR merchandise, and a decent variety of books. Can find textbooks too, but they’re expensive. The place has few seating areas, but they’re not so good.
Relatively small selection of books and they close off top floor and stop selling text books mid semester.
Wish I had more time to spend in there. Book lovers dream.
Very quiet and relaxing. Shelves were very neat and easy to find what you are looking for.
It is a well stocked store with friendly and helpful staff. Cafe next door is excellent
Very nice store. Staff very friendly
Everyone very helpful. Store is organized. Great deals.
I like the idea besides buying a book that we need for school office our home we can sit in there and have a cup of coffee to relax. I do miss the days when you all would bring in Arthurs for book signing and advertise it to the public.
It was alright, the staff was nice but a little bit overprived.
Poor follow up.Left voicemail and n very received return phone call regarding merchandise I was looking for. Manager was less than helpful.
A very good place to hang out and read for bookworms!
Nice and quiet. I like the selection of books, games and college gear. Nice having a cafe adjoining the bookstore. WiFi is pretty bad though.
Good Hugh D.Fuller Carpet Man and refinishing or Nu-Floor
Not a huge normal book selection at this location. But if you are looking for U of R merch or college store books, this B&N location has it. They do have a cafe attached as well.
Great place to get kids excited about books
This is a very nice location. All Barnes & Noble Cafés are clean, but this one is just homey in a way that lots of coffee shops and cafés simply arent. Whether you want to get some work done, meet up with a friend, or just enjoy a coffee and a book, this is a great location to do that.
Decent. A solid bookstore with college-esque service (ie many students working what may be their first jobs. Speediness is sometimes lacking, but most everybody is very friendly)A solid choice for school supplies. Their upstairs is very well stocked with textbooks, art supplies, and much more.
A rather truncated Barnes and Noble. This is what would happen if the millenials were designing the rest of them. Heavy on graphic novels, small section of childrens books, a large coffe bar and Cafe given the scale, Small number of social issue and bestseller book, and a reprinted collections of classics. A kinfd of wading pool of books for the shallow .Upstairs filled with textbooks and medical supplies. There is also a hugelot of sports and team junk for their mothership the U of R,Overall a rather disappointing corner grocery store model of a real bookstore.
Very focused on merchandise of interest to UofR students. Not your typical B&N!
I always enjoy myself here.
Barnes and Noble is a large multi level bookstore. This store caters to students at the University of Rochester. There is a nice childrens area with books and crafts. Students can buy text books there a d there is also a coffee shop where you can eat and Wi Fi. If you like to do arts and crafts, the supplies for calligraphy, writing, coloring and painting are impressive. Clothing and other various assundry items are available for students and others.
Needed to return items and it was fast and easy, everyone was extremely helpful.
Good spot to grab Starbucks and study or read upstairs. Also includes a nice RIT gift shop for clothing and gear.
If you think this is a regular Barnes and Noble, you are wrong. This is for University of Rochester students. Still nice place, though. 4 out of 5.
COMFORTABLE RELAXING PLACE TO BROWSE BOOKS AND ELECTRONIC DEVICES.
Great collection of goods. Would have been better if they could provide more discount to students and employees.
It would be cool if there were more books and less sweatshop made U of R clothes here, but hey...cant win them all.
Great variety. Many items related to University of Rochester.
This is a great place to read books, relax in a chair and buy some great books and other things.
Love this place & the prices are fair. Its a home away from home
A great place for students of the University of Rochester. Textbooks, paraphernalia, and items for the students. As a Barnes and Nobles it has a smaller selection of books and novels than that of the R.I.T. B&N.
Very nice Barnes and Noble. Since it has a lot of U of R clothing, there isnt as many books.
One of the best bangs for your book-buck in town! . . . Compact U of R bookstore, with many changing sales & clearance items ;-)
Bad experience .was buying all my books there. Until I was treated like .......
Pretty weak service and selection. It provides the basics of some simple University of Rochester gear or a quick summer read but tends to feel fairly deserted.
Love the place. Great place to read on a nice day.
Got the help I needed and they were giving samples of delicious frappes!
Very cozy, friendly staff, atmosphere. Its close to my home, convenient.
Its a nice store. Pricing is high. No member discounts on text books ???!!!
A college bookstore with little to accommodate the public
The staff are helpful, but you should know that this a university bookstore and as such doesnt have the same selection of books as in a regular Barnes and Noble store.
Free parking. Staff was efficient and helpful.
Not the widest selection of books due to it being in part a college bookstore, but the inventory usually suffices and its always worth a browse. Friendly staff.
Clean. Well organized, quiet
The cafe attached is a good place to grab a quick cup of coffee while studying
The WORST customer service I have ever experienced. Got there right before they close at 9 and all the doors were already locked. From the outside of the store, I then watched another customer shop for 10 minutes. It is not right that the store gives special treatment to certain customers. When a sales associate had to unlock the door for the customer shopping inside, she was very rude to me. Dont ever shop here!! Taking my business elsewhere. So disappointed
Didnt really have the selection of UR apparel in which I was interested.
Nice place to read... Eat.. Here your heart beat..
Very clean and priced exactly how youd expect a university bookstore to be priced.
Huge store! Took the kids at Christmastime and they loved meeting Santa.
Very helpful and friendly. Super clean
Depends on what youre looking for. Recognize that its not a regular Barnes and Noble; its for U of R folks.
Good collection but overpriced
Smaller selection than most locations but they always have something good and a friendly staff
This place is really cool, its really big and super clean and modern
Great selection of UofR gear!
Worst customer service by miss alex, miss simone and miss susan. After being hung up on by miss alex who I asked to hang on a second whilst I spoke to my other child he RUDELY HUNG UP ON ME.After so many stores are closing in college town rochester ny An Intelligent persons would think that they (U of R Bookstore) would have much better representation in the class of bookstore employees to have some type of communication skills.. For instance alex has very poor communication skills if any atoll, I AM THE SUPERVISOR OF THE U OF R BOOKSTORE When asked for his superior he has none. I consider this like a cancer or perhaps a domino effect or Parroting therefore I say that you are effecting the many who do not practice such poor customer service skills and in comparison you are lacking, I then had to be subjected to the rhetoric saga of susan and miss simone who after being told I am a Parent calling in, assumed to presume to call me Miss. This was not conjecture as this is FACTUAL,would it be that the class of people working in the U OF R Bookstore really have a lot to learn because their Customer service skills are Nill and border line abusive. When finally getting in touch with a recorded general manager frank his voice mail said I will be out of the office until August 8, today is AUGUST 26th.This bookstore gouges the poor students that are forced to buy there. Remember the Customer is KING whether they be, a Mrs., Miss, MS.MR.or Master. The contempt that they harbor at the U OF R for Mrs.seriously will get them nothing. As Financially speaking stores in College Town are closing, there bridge is falling apart, I suggest that you herd in these children in and put them thru some type of training because you are a part of the problem,It is much better to be a part of the Solution which is clear.
Small selection of books. Overpriced textbooks. Good for UR clothes, though!
