This is a huge big space for everything cool about coffee shops and the stuff that goes with it: beans, treats, cakes, and plenty of room to sip, talk, and work. The actual space is a former Chevy dealership with a balcony and different kinds of relaxation nooks. The staff are friendly and it seems peopled with diverse locals. The iced coffee did the job, the kid had a big apple juice, and we split a rice-crispy bar. Be sure to stop by and chill when you’re in the neighborhood.
Spot coffee used to be awesome about 10 years ago... sadly this cafe has changed. Coffee is still good but they def have a limited choice of cakes and sweets. They used to have many choices available but now just a few remain. Staff working the counter used to be fun and friendly but not so much any more. Tables are not clean because they seem to have limited staff and bathroom were gross with over flowing garbage and urine on the floor. Also found out they no longer have live music :( what a shame! Disappointed with my experience!
This place was nice, not crowed at all. Social distancing practiced. Very nice atmosphere, quiet. The lemon bars are amazing as was the cookies and cream cheese cake. Yumm
The coffee here is pretty good, but I especially love their smoothies and salads! Unexpected to be a great salad spot but I havent had one that I dont like so far!
Spot Coffee is a great little independent coffee shop. Clean. Very good Lattes and pastries. Check it out if you are downtown. If I am close, I always drop in.
A neighborhood staple offering made to order items with a plethora of drink choices, and a few dessert options. You can enjoy your meal from inside or outside. Lines do form quickly, but the cashiers are able to keep up. Bring your appetite, the portions are big. Their omelettes are amazing!!!!
Great place for a cup of coffee and relax. I love coming here and catching up with freinds, also high celing is a bonus :).
This time I purposely stopped in for lunch in between meetings downtown, so I could order one of their salads. I chose the mesclun salad with tuna. It was delicious and a generous portion. The tuna salad had interesting and unexpected flavors that went well with the other salad ingredients.
Spent a few hours here tonight while my son did some homework. Staff is average, not exactly friendly but they took our order and it was correct so Im happy. The space is large with great available mixed seating. It was a bit loud and chilly!!! but Ill just bring an extra jacket next time. We really enjoyed our margarita pizza which they actually make fresh! My pumpkin mocha shake was also tasty as was his chai latte. The carrot cake was just eh especially for over 5 bucks a slice. All in all this is definitely a spot well come back to!
Mikes bfast sandwiche was AMAZING as well as the London Fog earl Grey tea. Definitely will be back
I love this place. Great view, great food... Great Spot!
Good breakfast place...full meals and pastries. Good place to have a cup of coffee and work for a change of scenery.
3 stars because of price and wait time. I come here usually on the weekends during the brunch rush and every time there is one poor girl taking orders AND making drinks for everyone. Last time I ordered just a simple breakfast sandwich with egg and cheese, no meat, and total was around $8 which is very steep. It took about 20 min just to get my sandwich. I don’t understand why they don’t hire more staff for the weekend rush times. If you do come here on the weekend, my advise is not to order anything other than a coffee or baked good, otherwise plan to wait at least 15 min.
Far too much incompetence here for the experience to be enjoyable.
Awesome food . great location . me and my husband have date lunches there 3 to 4 times a week
The food fare here is just as good as the coffee (and the coffee is really good). And the staff is very nice.
Nice selection of food, beverages and dessert.
Ive been here a few times and every time I visit the customer service has been terrible, the food inconsistent, and coffee has been very bland. Today, after ordering breakfast, one of their delivery trucks blocked me in! After letting the barista on call know to tell the driver to pull the truck closer to the curb, he told me the he knew the driver and he wouldnt do -- basically wait! The rudest staff for a basic coffee shop. Wouldnt give them a star if I could.
Me and my family tried this coffee shop last week for the first time, we have went to 7 other coffee shops and we cant find the service we get at the spot. Best service and great environment always feel happy when I go there. Nice people and the chiefs know how to make the food, drinks are made fantastic. We will continue to go there. I recommend the everything bagel with veggies and added salmon!
Had to wIt a few to order my coffee, other then that it was great..
Pretty good, not enough vegan options to satisfy me. Im a tough critic. I bought an overpriced salad that was pretty good, I just wished there was some more vegan options. I like the atmosphere though and I did work for an hour while waiting for my friend. Staff was also frinedly :0
Coffee wide variety of food what else could you ask for?!I love checking out new coffee places this was one of the places I happened to be checking out and wow!!! Location, coffee, food, atmosphere, seating, they have it all!! Totally recommend this place you should check it out!! I do know there are parking lots near here there is street parking with paid meters just a little FYI
I loved this place! Try one of the cereal bars, the mango smoothie tea and the Quesadilla with chicken
Spacious, lots of tables for small groups, plenty of electric outlets, reliable wifi.
Good casual dining in a historic refurbished car dealership! Good coffee, good sandwiches. Plenty of room indoors and out. I eat here about once a month and am always satisfied.
Nice vibe, great smoothie
Nice usual coffee shop.
I have always loved Spot! They have a vast drink/food menu, which is much appreciated from a picky eaters POV. Very grand and spacious inside, used to be a longtime Chevrolet dealership named Hallman’s Chevrolet. It was the last dealership to remain downtown, and at one point, one of the top Chevy dealerships in the country. I wonder if COVID will take Spot away from us, but I hope not. I miss it terribly!
Good coffee and fare but worth the price?
Take out in a diner. Coffee was OK.Not sure why anyone would go there to eat.
Great coffee!! Easy parking at 800am
Very open and bright set up with creative beverage choices.
I dont usually make time to write a review. However, this is very necessary. Our Spot Coffee in downtown Rochester is fantastic in their kind and quick customer service. We went in on a day where this one girl Hannah was at the counter alone. IT WAS SWAMPED with people! She took every order accurately as well as quickly got the orders done with politeness and a big smile. 😃With all thats going on in our world, the manager ⭐ Nick goes WAY ABOVE TO MAKE SURE..that every table and counter space is being constantly disinfected. ⭐The food, coffee and customer service ALWAYS hits The Spot FOR SURE!!!🥰👍💛
Absolutely love this place for coffee, socialization, and atmosphere. People here are usually in a good mood and friendly. It is a very open floor plan with plenty of room to breath and absorb your surroundings. If you are in a hurry they have an app to shorten your wait in line with.
Just another place to get coffee. Lots of menu selections for breakfast or lunch but I was just there for a good cuppa and it was okay. It was not quite as hot as I would have liked and didnt seem flavorful so my guess was that it had been sitting for a while.I can see why theres a bit of nostalgic feel to the place but its nothing special to me. Try it if you must but dont make a special trip, its just not worth it. Oh and the counter staff couldnt get much more disinterested in the job, not friendly at all
The gentleman taking orders was very pleasant!
Coffee is a matter of taste. The house blend was neither bright nor dark/rich. It wasn’t my favorite. I generally like light roast and African single origin, so the house blend was not in my “wheel house”. They do have single origin available which may be better and offers an alternative to the blend. Aside from the coffee, the space was great. The staff was friendly and the food looked good. Definitely a nice place to spend some time.
Good food and coffee. Our wait times for a few items were unnecessarily long (over 30 minutes for some oatmeal with fruit). The staff are funny and friendly. This place is much better than some generic chain.
I work for a public school in a special ed program. Once in a while despite the plauge we need to physically meet with other school staff outside of our building. The spot has good wifi and very good coffee and food. It has plenty of seating for covid safe meetings and the wifi allows us to do online virtual school work. There is noise but its expected and ok.

Barista was super helpful
Spacious and beautiful. Food and coffee was delicious!
Just got americanos and pumpkin coffee at the saratoga springs location. One barista seemed so frazzled he dropped my coffee on the counter sloshing a good bit of it out but otherwise the service was good, as well as the coffee.
This place has a beautiful interior which is incredibly large and well decorated. The coffee options are very good, and their food is very impressive. As with any coffee shop, the food they serve is pricey for what it is. However, the quality is excellent.
Great Chai and good customer service!
Very nice cafe. Very spacious. Tasty food and drink. Fast service, even when crowded. If you want cozy, the upper balcony is good for that.
One of the longer running local coffee location in Rochester. Coffee is good, food good and staff are fun. I enjoy the upstairs seating.
Not so sure why, but I didnt get the best vibes entering this place. The coffee was good, it was clean, and the service was fine. I just for whatever reason that I cant seem to explain or understand - didnt enjoy this coffee shop. Maybe I should give it another chance and get back to you. Until then, not my favorite.
Good ambience and reasonably priced food.
Great coffee. Much preferred to Starbucks. Service does tend to be a bit slow. Was in on a Saturday morning., place had no one in line and no one waiting., yet still had to wait nearly 15 minutes for my beverage.
Good coffee and deserts mediocre sandwiches.
I used to go here many years ago when I lived here. I came back to Rochester to visit a friend and wanted to Come back for a cup of coffee. Coffee was good, service was decent selection was good. It took about 20 min to get my coffee but it was well worth waiting for the fresh brewed latte.
Nice staff. Though, from my experience, I wasnt greeted right away. I had to wait until they had a chance to get back to the register for someone to speak to me. That took a minute or so. You have to pay attention to the code in order to get into the restroom. Aside from that, loved the mango Power Protein shake. There was was seating all over. Food smelled good.
Spacious area with lots of sun, a perfect place to study. I had the Mike sandwich on a bagel and it was sooo good. The clientele is a good mix of students and other folks living their lives.
Just had a coffee. Staff was nice and space is open. Free wifi if you need to do some work. Coffee was a little to bright for me.
Nice place to grab a cup of coffee or coffee shake and snack. They also do breakfast, lunch and all kinds of sandwiches. Stop by and try this great place out.
Best Crew & Iced Vanilla Lattes! Cool Environment. I Patronize About 5 Times-Week During Different Hours & Enjoy The Space, Vibe & Location. Ive Traveled All Over & THE SPOT Is Top Of My List! Just Tried The SPECIAL DARK ROAST -BRAZILIAN -TRUTH IS BEST COFFEE IVE EVER HAD- Normally Only Drink Lattes & Caps! WOW! Manager Is Also VERY Knowledgeable About Coffee -Impressive!
Still a nice spot for a casual business meeting. Good coffee/non coffee drinks and treats.
I was here several times when the business was new and liked it here a lot. Went here recently and received very poor service by a cranky server. The manager was helping out and was even ruder. Plus the coffee was luke-warm. I wont bother going back.
Unwelcoming atmosphere as well as lethargic staff. Overly price for food. Sandwich was good. Bread was dry. Salad was minamal. A shame it is almost 11 dollars for that sandwich. Not very clean. Seems that it is lacking of regular cleaning. Oh and ordered a medium tea that was 3 dollars. Unfortunately is was a powder mix.
Great place for a coffee, a pastry, breakfast or lunch. They roast the beans here, foods made fresh to order and many choices. Its a pleasant place with a good atmosphere kind staff and great food and drink.
Spot Coffee is one of my favorite downtown coffee places, its fun to watch people walking by through the big glass windows and they have a nice variety of sandwiches, pastries, coffee and tea. Even when its busy, I always find a free table to sit!
I come here regularly and always have amazing service! Nick is always so great and even went out of his way to make me something not on the menu today because I really wanted a Cinco Shake but warm. Coffee is great, food is amazing, great environment! Highly recommend Spot Coffee for anyone looking for a cute place to sit down and work, or simply enjoy a delicious lunch.
Spot is one of the best coffee spots in all of Rochester! Excellent staff and good accommodations for our committee meetings. Thank you Spot owners and employees ✌️
Very good hot cocoa and milkshakes! great cafe atmosphere and nice location too :)
The spot was very nice very relaxing I was able to rest and listen to my music with their free wifi, drink my coffee and enjoy a few hours of the afternoon. So kudos to The Spot.
If youre going to visit a chain, come here. Every Spot has a completely different vibe. Coffee is very good, deserts are delicious and the pizza is great. Good food menu selection, very friendly
Spots-a-hoppi’n...very cool gathering place in Rochester’s hippest downtown location. Never a dull moment there. Unpretentious attitude within a terrific former Art Deco building. Go there! 👍
Loved it, hadnt been there in over 10 years ! Had a spicy tuna pannini sandwich, it was yummy . The place is beautifully done, nice crowd of young professionals, fast service. Would definitely recommend it !!
The consistency of their service and the quality of their food has remained to the utmost for over a decade. An amazing spot for amazing coffee and great conversations. I highly recommend Spot coffee.
Where do I start with Spot Coffee? Spot Coffee used to be the spot in my college and well into my adult life but something happened. It may have been a combination of having to pay for parking during the day, the remodeling that was done, and growing fond of new places popping up. What Spot continues to boast is a nice upstairs seating to look out at the rest of the coffee shop.
Comfy coffee shop, very hipster menu to go with its location close to the Eastman School of Music. Good chai lattes. Nice place to do work or chill.
The Staff were friendly, the food and beverage selections were good, and there were quiet and busy sections.I would have given it 4 stars, except that most parking around Spot is metered on-street parking or a pay-to-park lot nearby.
Service is absolutely wonderful! Morgan is awesome!. Coffee/ Lattes are incredible... cozy and can read a good book with minimal interruption... LOVE SPOT COFFEE
I went to Spot Coffee this afternoon with my friend Rich Maxwell.
Got a $5 dollar Belgian waffle for their special. So good! Was very loud in there though, even though it has an inviting atmosphere and cozy seats, I wouldnt recommend staying too long unless you like a migraine. Could use a variety of teas.
Nice place. Good quality coffee & snacks, good staff. Large corner store with lots of room and plenty of seating options, including upholstered chairs & love seats as well as large tables and wooden chairs. Had a breakfast wrap that was very good and big enough to share. Decor is nice. Theres even a balcony upstairs if you want privacy. Apparently, the place was a former in-town car dealership.
Had an spinach feta omelette with 8grain bagel and some tea. Both good. Sat upstairs for the first time. It was really nice and cozy.
Great food; Wonderful Space; Nice Welcoming employees/staff; Lovely view of downtown
Spot has been a mainstay of my life in and near Rochester since 2006. I will always love coming here for great drinks and food, to enjoy a comfortable atmosphere, and tune out the world for a while
One of my favorite lunch spots, and they make a mean grilled cheese. The balcony is usually a quiet and tucked away spot to sit, although the rest of the space isnt terribly loud either - usually students studying or work lunches. Parking can be a bit annoying as I believe its only street/metered. Worth checking out for the atmosphere (its in an old art deco Chevrolet showroom!) and their varied food/coffee options (lots of healthy choices).
