I love the coffee the food and the workers are so sweet and fun. All the coffee drinks are amazing and the food is awesome and the quality and quantity of the food is worth the cost. If you havent tried it yet then you have no idea what you are missing out on!!!

Great coffee and a hip vibe. Art inside for sale and an arcade game to interest you in the short amount of time to get your brew. Ample seating with adequate amounts of outlets. The breakfast burrito was delicious. I would have liked the eggs to be a little less done, but the chipotle flavors and large portion was perfect. Best coffee shop in Rockford in my opinion.

My boyfriend and I went recently to velvet robot to get lunch because its our favorite downtown place. The coffee is always amazing and they deal with my picky ingredients. Well this time our food took a little longer which we didnt even notice and we were provided a gift card. The cook also personally came out and apologized and was very friendly with us. The vibe of the coffee lab is always a good one and the food and drinks never disappoint. They even have a berry smoothie kind of thing for our 8 year old so she can feel included as well. The political vibes are also my favorite. Highly recommend!

Tasty treats with a unique flair. A great place to start your day downtown. Serving both coffee concoctions and some meals this place will give you the feels. The staff is fun and engaging. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area.

The atmosphere is small, nice and eclectic. I went on a Monday before noon and they already had loud live musicians playing. Made it hard to relax because it was quite loud.The food is overpriced and bland for what I can make at home better.The coffee was very burnt and I had to throw it out. Usually I can drink through burnt coffee or espresso, but this just was not good.The cafe also does not social distance what so ever and it’s very tight with few tablesOne of the workers wondered around without a mask on before putting it on as he got to behind the counter..the female red head was amazing for customer service and very nice! Seemed to be the only one really working though.Edit in response:When we walked in people just looked like they were cleaning up the area not getting ready to play. They didn’t start playing until we already ordered our food. Since all of the tables were so close together we sat outside of the cafe in the common area. As for your real chef, they might be a real chef but they certainly aren’t real good. The food is bland. It is what it is. Just like you don’t do light roasts, you also don’t season your food well enough. Speaking of, you’re the coffee house and expert, your guests shouldn’t help you know how to do your job. But you missed the important part to respond to about your employees not wearing their mask when they came in and walking around without it. That was the most uncomfortable part of the entire interaction and that’s the main reason I won’t return.I actually enjoy very strong coffee, do not assume that is very rude. I even asked for an extra espresso shot. I know the difference between strong and burnt.As well as, glad you’re standing up for your employees, though me and my party said it based on the price this was our reaction.The music was good, Just not at the very loud volume at the time of day.

Good bagel egg sandwich but they were weirdly playing Christian praise music which is kind of a vibe killer if youre not Christian. I mean its cool, just not for me, i guess.

Its definitely a cool environment. But you can see in my photo of the menu that I also accidentally captured an employee with no mask on at all. He was also going up to tables and asking how they were doing without it. I mention covid practices in many of my posts so Im for sure way more sensitive to it than I think many people are. This is because I am myself recovered from covid. If you are worried about safe practices I would and will go somewhere else. I have to say though that the outdoor seating is fun and there was live music on Saturday. I sat there for a while enjoying my time.

Third day in a row and very happy with the service and friendly atmosphere. They make you feel very welcome. Also the food art is fun and abstract. They worked with my new found allergy as well and I had a matcha and oat milk since I can’t have cow. Definitely recommend trying them out, they also have a couple other shops near by for a perfect date setup, a little restaurant, and ice cream shop is in the same shop! First time I got a Carmel iceberg and asked for it to be blended twice and it came out super smooth, second one tasted good as well which was matcha over ice with oat milk to accommodate my new allergy. Look forward to them being a staple in the community :) boyfriend thinks so too lol

Love everything about this place. From the sign out front, to the coffee (every blended coffee I’ve ever ordered is heaven on earth) and the food! Oh my God. The food. 😍 The tommy boy is where it’s at, let me tell you.Can’t wait for the Velvet Robot 2 to open up this summer!

My wife and I absolutely love this place. They have a huge selection of drinks that change on the regular. The staff is always super friendly. I have not had a chance to try the food but it looks really good as well. I just wish I could go more

I stopped in on a whim cause the name of the coffee shop is awesome. I mean common how could an avid coffee lover not stop at a place called Velvet Robot Coffee Lab!?! I was greeted by Pete, he was so friendly and could tell I was a first timer, and made recommendations right away.I wish The nitro was up and running but I’m excited for next time to try that. BUT! the coconut mocha cold brew was awesome! Pete was very kind when I started asking questions about the other products they were selling at the counter. Most places get agitated, but when talking to him you can really tell how much he loves this place, and the products they sell. (Yes I had to get those too).I wish I had time to try the food. I will definitely be back.Thank you for the great experience!!!

I really like this place so far. I just moved to Rockford from Philly so you can say Ive been a bit spoiled having an artisan coffee shop practically on every block back home. I was a bit nervous what to expect moving to Rockford from a big city like Philly, but so far Im very impressed. Walking into Velvet Robot Coffee, I felt right at home with the trendy décor that screams hipster. Just like all the coffee shops in Philly! Now for the coffee... I was not expecting much but wow the coffee at Velvet Robot blew me away! I ordered a cold brew and it was perfect! Bold and tasty.. My girlfriend got a latte and she mentioned it was it near perfect as well. I think I found my go to coffee shop for the next 3 years and expect to be a frequent customer here!

I gave this local coffee shop two chances. But each time I ended up upset and not satisfied with my purchases. The inside atmosphere is very relaxing and comfortable. The customer service is fantastic as well but the coffee wasnt good for me. I tried the butter beer coffee and it was just plain old coffee. I also tried some seasonal Halloween drinks and once again was not satisfied. The prices are slightly above average for coffee but nothing to really complain about. I would recommend every Rockfordian to give it a shot.

Was downtown Monday morning, June 1st, 2020, and wanted to finally try Wired Cafe, but for some reason they were closed. The old adage every cloud has a silver lining takes place here. When I was walking back to my motor vehicle, I stumbled onto this place. With alacrity I entered the premises and was immediately greeted by a very courteous staff. While waiting for my Americano, I admired the décor of the place. I would have loved to enjoy my beverage here, however the pandemic currently precludes this option. The coffee was delicious, roasted to perfection, but not burnt like Starbucks coffee. I will definitely be a regular.

Service and staff was amazing and friendly.Food was beyond what i expected taste wise very delicious and presentation was great!Atmosphere was very calming and relacing definately recommend giving this placeyour time and money over starbucks. Hands down

The breakfast bagels are delicious, definitely try their lox. The caramel frappe has just the right amount of sweetness that isnt overwhelming like some other places. My wife ordered a matcha latte which she described as perfect. Will visit again.

This place is good and a great vibe. I only gave it 3 stars because they still have work to do to get that 4th star. They will get it though, they are working hard. Coffee is good but a notch below great. Needs just a little more robust-ness to the flavor. Staff gets 5 stars! Pay them a visit, its worth it.

Excellent service and very friendly staff. Id love to be a regular customer for this place, but their high prices are avoiding me from visiting again, I bought iced caramel coffee and it was almost $6 after tax.

Despite really wanting to try this place out, and signage indicating that masks were mandatory indoors, unfortunately upon walking in half the folks indoors and several of the staff werent wearing them/hastily scrambling to put them on upon my entering... We felt really uncomfortable because of that and immediately left.

I drove 2+ hours and all I got was an absolutely delicious horchata cold brew that will keep me coming back for more

The best coffee around- and this is coming from someone that lives in Beloit, WI. They offer the whole experience; great vibes, friendly baristas, delicious coffee, and, coming soon, I’m assuming the food will be amazing as well. The atmosphere surpasses any other coffee shop I’ve been in. It’s one of those places that you always feel welcome. Also, I’ve been expanding my horizons in the coffee world so, I’m no connoisseur or anything but my bestie, who is, also gave it extremely high praises.
