Ive been here a few times since moving to Rockford. the staff/owner(s) really care about their customers. I cannot remember the name of the guy who helped me out (sorry!), but he hooked me up with some great JBL speakers! I also needed help with a solution for storing records so I asked him for some help and he had a great solution for me, he ended up selling me a really sturdy shelf that I think he made himself? not sure on those details... but yeah, I had a great experience and you bet Ill be back! love this place, 5 stars all day everyday.

Great selection of New/Used Rock, Blues, Jazz, and more. Reasonable prices on used stock. Needed another 5 hours to go through entire stock. I will likely return if in the area again. Thank you for a great experience.

Books, comics, magazines, rpgs - and some classic collectible stuff, they have a lot more than you think. Also, hardware for the true music lovers. If you have even a passing interest in anything listed, you owe it to yourself to visit. The staff is always very nice and helpful, extremely knowledgeable.

Very cool place. They have just about anything you could be looking for and if its not in stock theyll order it for you. The staff is so nice and will help you find whatever youre looking for.

Huge selection of books, movies, and records! They dont have everything inventoried, so if youre looking for a specific book you may have to search a while, but still has great vibes, and shelves you can flip through for hours. I came in looking for one particular book, and left with 4 different books and a record!

Friendly staff, an insane amount of product and a great environment, just do yourself a favor and give yourself time to go through it all.

Amazing selection of some new and countless used vinyl at good to reasonable prices (for most). I could spend days here flipping through albums. They also have a nice selection of used component audio equipment, often high end in quality condition. An audiophiles and record bin diving paradise.

I love this place! The staff is friendly and helpful. They have a ton of really cool old and new books. A huge variety of records and music. Also a massive collection of comic books with a lot of rare and older ones for sale. A strongly recommend stopping in if you are in the area!

When it comes to music, they have literally Everything. All listening preferences, every artist, on vinyl records, 8 track, cassettes, Id bet they even have reel to reel. You could spend a week in there and still probably only hit the basement. Everything is very well organized, priced, marked and theres no digging thru boxes for stuff like a garage sale. A+ score!!

They fix my record players AND sell me discs to listen to. I love this place! Well lit, clean, and super helpful staff. Ask them for help finding a particular cut and theyll point you in the right direction! Always fair, and always polite. Thanks again, TH!

This is a one of a kind store now a days. You can grab a old album, cassette or anything in between as far as equipment. The staff is more than helpful and they also have discs for disc golf. This is a chill spot to listen to good music and hangout. They also have more collectables that I know nothing about but you should go check it out.

Has always been a good store for music. The staff are rather well informed, and stock never suffers. Old and new vinyl alike is what you can find in here, along with a great atmosphere and staff. Unfortunately not very wheelchair friendly due to the age of the building

One of my favorite record stores. If youre willing to dig you can find some gems. They also have tons of refurbished stereo equipment and stacks and stacks of books.

I grew up here so I drove in from Madison to see what they had to offer since I finally got a turn table. pros....staff is very friendly and huge selection, to me that ended there.Their organization was ridiculous. Im going alphabetically and not seeing the bands and their response was its in the other rum up front. Why is it not where it should be? I dont care how popular a band is, Im not going back and forth when everything should be in order.Prices? Highest Ive seen anywhere in Madison and Rockford. They had a semi rare Metal Church album, great! Pulled the record out and it was scuffed scratched to hell, figured Id get it since it should be cheap considering the condition right? They wanted 20 bucks for it! Cool I love listening to scratched records!Everything they had I wanted I put back because after state tax, I could get everything cheaper anywhere else.Check out Culture Shock and CD Source instead, not as big a collection but youre not going to pay ridiculous prices.

I am very glad that Toad Hall has re-opened. They have a large selection of vinyl records. They also have a large selection of used books. They have dungeons and dragons books first edition. The prices are moderate. Its a great place to visit the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.

Amazing place! There was so much stuff there from vinyls to CDs to books and much more. I spent over three hours there just looking through the stuff they offer. Amazing prices and the people that worked there were amazingly friendly. Prices were fantastic too and I recommend everyone to go there and see what they have to offer. Would go there again!

Super big selection for us old vinyl heads! Best selection Ive ever seen in the Mid West. Prices are ok/reasonable for the most part. They obviously are well educated on what the market is and also are aware of condition. Staff is super helpful and nice. Much more organized and clean than it used to be with the previous owners. Always an enjoyable adventure!

Loved it. Took my daughter there today for the first time. Staff was helpful, friendly and very accommodating about me bringing my toddler in. Very impressed with the selection of new and used stuff. Dont always have exactly what I want, but searching the bins is part of the fun for me. Prices are reasonable and on par with ebay, plus you dont have to pay for shipping and get it right that day. Cant wait to go back.

They bought some of the old records I had lying around and I found some books I had been looking for. If you are looking for something specific be prepared to look- every nook and cranny is filled here. This is a great store and I recommend it to anyone.

The first time I ever went to Toad Hall was as a teenager back in the 70s. I started collecting comic books and records. Over the years I would stop in and go thru the comics. I had a great time spending hours there looking over everything. It was a sad day when it closed. I was petty excited when Larry reopened. He is doing an excellent job keeping up the tradition started all those years ago. Hats off to Larry !!!!

Amazing place for crate digging. This store is packed from floor to ceiling, and even has a basement crammed with goodies. The records are in relatively good order, but there is SO MUCH to see here. Its practically impossible to walk out without something. They have a TON of records of course, and a large variety of magazines, books, old school audio devices, dvds, etc...The record collection here is truly amazing though. There are step stools and ladders around so you can reach the higher shelves, and records are crammed in anywhere they will fit. You can sell records here too of course, but youre normally going to get a buck per record. Unless its something really amazing. And theyre relatively choosy, well... they have to be considering they have little room for additional stock and so much already.Hours are somewhat limited, but its easily the best record store in a 75 mile radius that Ive been to.

I ordered a very expensive record online and paid using PayPal. The record came in the mail in perfect condition, wrapped in many layers of bubble wrap and had fragile stickers on the box, and arrived before expected. In the box came a confirmation with a hand-written thank you. Great experience, would definitely order from them again!

He gave me five dollars for two DVD players. Then he gave me 4 dollars for a handful of cds.. He wanted to buy my Life of Pi DVD for a dollar. I said no. He said he would sell the DVD for two dollars. Worse than a pawn shop. I’ll never go back.

Ive gone to Toad Hall, and I always love my visits. I love that I am able to buy so many things from one place! On the main floor theres comic books, record players and other stereo equipment, books, CDs, cool music merch and other collectibles, and of course records (new and used). On the bottom floor, theres more records (I always go here, theres musicals and classical music which Im super into), posters, books, and some sheet music (and as a musician, this is a really nice find! Theres always some cool solo pieces for various instruments, you just gotta dig!) And the top floor is mostly books, but the rooms are sorted and its really interesting to walk through and see some of the different books.As a collector, I love this place and no matter who you bring, theyll find something to dig through. And even if theyre not into books or music, the building itself is really nice to see. Its really a nice way of seeing Rockford in one place.But whenever I come back, theres always something I find unexpected. And I never leave empty handed (but its always worth it!😅).
