Irish rose is one of my favorite local restaurants in Rockford. Ive been coming here since I was a kid and it never disappoints. The food is always delicious, filling and locally sourced. The drinks are perfectly balanced between delicious and alcoholic. The crew is a mix of genuine friendly people of all backgrounds and the whole place just has a generally cool vibe.
I absolutely love this place, I found it on Google and we were in Rockford from out of town. Im so glad we went here. First off the waitstaff was so friendly and welcoming. The food..omg the food was so fresh and tasted amazing. Everything is homemade and you can tell they take great pride in that,, I cant wait to take my dad. The owner came to our table and had a conversation with, what a sweet man. I would give it 10 stars. I also had a Bloody Mary Yum!!!
5 stars. Highly recommended. Great food, great drinks, and the food is organic. I had Lexi as a server, and she was amazing. She was kind, fast, and very helpful. She does her job with confidence, and thats hard to find. Much appreciation. Pictured is the Whiskey Smash which is Knob Creek Bourbon, Fresh Mint Syrup, Fresh Lemon Juice 🍋
Great find. Fresh ingredients, locally sourced, make for a delicious meal. Homemade soup, bangers made in house, chicken sandwich with homemade aiouli. Our server was outstanding, very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. Very cool vibe. We ate outside with our dog.
The food here is delicious and staff is really friendly. Our server went above and beyond! The ingredients are local and food and condiments are made from scratch. We ordered the zucchini slices (werent on menu but asked for them and they were able to make some for us), bruschetta which was all delicious. They had a couple vegetarian options (veggie burger and veggie flatbread). It is a nice cozy restaurant that is perfect for date nights. It is a little pricey but is certainly worth it because the food and service was amazing!Highland reccomend and will be coming again!
Very nice person that served us. I loved the lamb that was good. Wish they brought back the zucchini slices missed that but the menu had a good selection. Im impressed that they do not cook with salt they have the customers add their own salt to it .
Unfortunately lost my business segregating people that cannot wear masks. I enjoyed the service before but will not be returning since you turned us away. I hope more people wake up and open their eyes. Plenty of other places to eat that don’t discriminate. The way your employees from the bar and front started flailing their arms up to their faces was kinda funny though, but you shouldn’t just assume everyone can wear a mask. You are going to lose a lot more business from word of mouth I’ve already let all my friends who cannot wear masks know not to come here to eat anymore.
The atmosphere was old school and relaxing. The bartender was awesome he made everything just right. Food was great, and I cant wait to go back.
Great service great seafood daily specials. Really a fun place to eat. One of Rockfords best dining options. Outdoor seating available.
This gem was quite a surprise. We stopped by for drinks while we waited for a restaurant down the street to open. We settled on an appetizer to share (mushrooms) and were so impressed, we stayed for dinner! Excellent service, excellent food, and priced far below what it was worth! If you’re just passing through or lucky enough to live near Rockford, check this place out!
This was our first visit to The Irish Rose Saloon and it most certainly wont be our last! Im anxious when it comes to walking into new places, especially in larger towns Im not used to and I know not one thing about Rockford. However, we were greeted warmly by the bartender and he had a friendly air about him that really helped chill me out. I ordered the Irish Lady cocktail, I highly recommend it if youre a fan of Tullamore Dew! My fiancée ordered the Irish Buck cocktail...another Tullamore drink that is nice and refreshing. For dinner we ordered the Full Irish Breakfast and my goodness they arent kidding! Started with a bowl of DELICIOUS chicken/veggie/rice soup and a plate of Irish bread and butter. The breakfast was bacon, banger, mash, roasted tomatoes, hearty toast, three of the most delicious eggs Ive ever eaten(seriously I didnt even put seasoning on them they were THAT good!)and two pork patties. So very filling and all was incredibly tasty. The chef even came out to say hello and ask how things were. The owner was there and struck up conversation. He personally goes to Chicago and gets fresh ingredients for the menu twice a week! All food there is no preservatives and they also have vegan and GF options. The atmosphere is lovely, the decor is warm and inviting and I LOVE the antique lamps on either side of the bar. As I said, we will be making The Irish Rose Saloon a regular stop whenever were in that area!
My boyfriend decided to take me out for corn beef and cabbage because I’d never had it before. First we asked for French dressing and both got ranch. The salad was literally lettuce and to wedges of tomato’s. The corn beef came out and there was barely any corn beef it was mostly potatoes and carrots. The flavor was good but the amount of meat was not acceptable. We had a hair Bobbie pin on our table from someone prior. We requested sugar for the tea 3 times before receiving it. Then we got the bill. Almost $53 for 2 people’s lunch that was probably only worth $9.00 each. The corn beef portion was probably 4 oz on my boyfriends plate and 6 oz on mine so I gave him half of mine. We will not ever return. This place really needs to make major changes to justify those kind of prices especially in Rockford!
The seafood is fresh. Specials change often. The atmosphere is perfect.
My husband & I (and our pup) stumbled upon this incredible restaurant today. Delicious food and welcoming servers. 10/10 experience.
The food is always great at the Rose. Today my burger while delicious was cooked well done even though I ordered or medium rare ( warm red center) the service was also very slow. But I know they were short staffed and kind of busy, so Im giving them 4 stars and a favorable review based on past experience.
My goodness, who was that poor pregnant woman who was let go?My experiences have been nothing but memorably wonderful. From food to service to interactions. Five stars feels generic.
Amazing food. Amazing service. Will definitely be back!
First time there for dinner and we wont be back. I ordered the steak medium and it came out raw. I returned it to to be cooked more and by the time it came out my girlfriend was done eating. Portions are small for the price. Trust the horrible reviews on the steaks, because they are true!
So I took my special lady friend here for a late lunch she ordered the barbecue bacon burger with homemade fries. I ordered the linguine with asparagus and pesto. The food was great, our waitress was very nice and on top of stuff, Ive drove by this place a hundred times, I should have stopped so long ago, I will be back again.
Super fun menu, beyond great food and customer service.
Good. Every single time! Fresh food
It was pleasant. Food was cooked just right, and the atophere was nice.
My family, three generations, had a nice dinner here. They serve elevated pub food with flair and style. Decor was very retro with art deco ceilings and local artists paintings. I was personally very impressed with my steak, and loved the grilled veggies that came with the sirloin. Three of my family members got the filet and all had the same criticism, that it was not at serving temperature. Food was sent back to rectify the problem, and they were told that the sauce had a tendency to cool the steak. Seems like an easily rectified problem..warm the sauce before using it. I tried their steaks and found the sauce to be pleasant, and the meat was tender, but all three also said that the filet was not as tender as theyd expected. I also noticed that all steaks seemed to be cooked to a slightly less than medium rare point, even though there were 3 different requests, I couldnt tell any difference in the doneness. The waitress was extremely friendly and seemed very excited about the food, but was either new at the job or fairly uninformed about what came with the entrees. I would expect a greater attention to the fine details at a place that wants to charge a premium price, and overall the food seemed a bit underseasoned. However, the scallops were downright amazing, probably the best Ive ever had. They threw down on their house sauces like the basil vinaigrette, sauvignon sauce for the filets, and house made steak sauce. Overall the atmosphere was cool, but not really sure this is a place to bring your 90-year old grandma. My fault on that one. Up your game just abit, chef, and you may just have something here. Youll have at least one more visit from me.
Relatives came through town and need cool casual with a deep menu rather than cold corporate.
Soup wasnt hot, entree was delicious, bread and butter hard and cold, new waitress was very figity and had little knowledge of menu
Zack was an amazing bar tender its these types of people who get customers coming back, very energetic and able to pull something not typically order often, and made it better than how my job makes it, so if I could give more stars I would, cant wait to come back for more. Another thing is that the food was absolutely authentic, inhouse made buns for the burger I had, fresh ground beef patty, and they had their own style fries, which always makes the meal better, keep up the wonderful job and cant wait to see yall again *mic drop*
Great food. Nicer restuarant
Nice place. They were not happy about making us Pina Coladas, and they tasted that way.
Excellent regional fish, great atmosphere, historic setting.
Antique building, restored but still keeps the same look. Staff is friendly and attentive. However, there was a couple who were obviously intoxicated. Could barely walks or talk. They sat and she started walking around. Coming to my table and being obnoxious. No body in the staff did anything about it. Our waitress only apologized briefly and kept on. The food was really good. No wait. Decent menu.
Exquisitely prepared, one-of-a-kind dishes coupled with a casual and inviting atmosphere... By far some of the best food youll find in Rockford!!!
Disgusting.Everyone’s food was cold and tasted absolutely horrible. So gross. And the service was horrible.
Brews were good. In for a late snack and liked the vibe.
Great service! Great food. Inventive!
Great atmosphere and friendly staff and the food has a high quality. They source fresh fish from a market in Chicago twice a week and make everything from scratch. The restaurant is one of 6 restaurants that do not use preservatives in their food! The dishes are maybe pricier than cheaper competitors but the quality you get is worth the small extra.
Every single item in this restaurant is homemade and it shows! Food is very good quality
Say hi to Tracy. She will welcome you with a smile
Everything made fresh to order...great staff and service. Food was excellent.
Delicious, always fresh, and the service is great. A real gem in Rockford.
They have really good food but cant seem to get my steak at med well.
Not worth the money.. mediocre at best.
Good food and friendly staff. We celebrate many special days in our family at the Irish Rose.
I love the Irish Rose. Food is always great!
Lots of unique dishes and good atmosphere.
Cool place, I liked the service and music but the lamb chops werent very good and the entrees are a bit pricey.
Great snacks and an attentive owner.
A place for foodies. Everything is choice picked from markets in Chicago, and local organic farms. Everything is made from scratch daily! (Even the ketchup) Ive eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner here. All meals are flavorfully prepared with purpose. I have included a picture of the fresh board. Meals are priced very fairly for what you get. Recommended.
Great food. Great service. Thank you 😊
Scallops were good. Food was kind of bland. My friend didnt like the steak and it was his first time there. Love this place, but just wish there was a little extra love put into the food.
Great food, even better service 10/10 recommend for date or with the family.
First Visit was Awesome!!! The food was cooked to perfection. Second visit.. sausage was under Cooked and had an order of HAIR with the APPETIZER...was asked did I want another Banger; I asked was going to be a New order waitress stated No we will re-cook the Banger ( cross-contamination) UM NO THANK YOU! #Health DepartmentNew Cooks I assume. Last Visit.
Relaxed hipster elegance. A perfect pub!
Really enjoyed the meal there.
Irish Rose has so many great food items but I was feeling like eating light tonight (new years resolution, right) so their Brunch All Day special just hit the spot. Nice omelette with toast and easy on the taters. Well done!
Great place to grab a Guinness. Food and service above par.
We went there New Years Eve for dinner with friends. First one of us got the wrong drink. Then dinner before salad, then no salad. Food was good, but for the price not much. Wasnt very busy so not sure what was the issue. This place could be outstanding with the right management. Wont go back!
Weve dined here off and on for decades. We quit eating here in the 90s because they kept the lighting so low it was hard to read the menus. We started back sporadically about fifteen years ago with generally good results.Last night however was an awful experience. the service was very slow. We never received our soups and salads, and my fish was over cooked and the sides were cold. The waitress brought a couple deserts, which we didnt want, but didnt reduce the bill. There are many great restaurants within a couple blocks. We will go there.
Absolutely fantastic. Best food in the city. Everything is fresh, everything (and I mean everything) is made from scratch. Dont expect a quick meal here; high quality takes time. Staff is amazing and they make a great Irish coffee. Will always poke in when Im able to.
Fun atmosphere, definitely nailed what I expected an Irish Pub to feel like. Knowledgeable, interesting staff, and a great menu with authentic (well, ostensibly so) dishes offered. Extensive drinks menu (essential), and I enjoyed my entree (Full Irish Breakfast). Good portions at good prices, most of us had leftovers. Great dessert (fabulous cherry cheesecake!)Worth your visit!
Great food great service, friendly atmosphere
Always great food, friends, hospitality
Excellent food and service. Had dinner with a friend, ordered the filet sauvignon. Came with mashed potatoes and asparagus spears. Delicious. Loved everything.
Unique and delicious foods. They are one of the only places opened late on State Street. Plus, the wait staff is very friendly.
Best restaurant in Rockford! All preservative free menu. Amazing staff & service, best drinks & cocktails by a long shot. Do yourself a favor and stop in. You wont be disappointed.
Love this place ❤ ! The food and service is excellent! Must try. Thanks again Irish Rose 🌹
I ate there for the first time on December 28, 2019. I loved it. Food was excellent. Service was excellent. Definitely going back.
We loved the ambiance and the food was yummy too. Cool historical building downtown. Our bartender was super friendly too. definetly check this place out
My favorite Rockford hangout spot. Hands down.
Always nice there! My friend and I had a nice evening, everything was great!
This place has AMAZING food!! The pork chop sandwich is beyond divine! I cant wait to go back and try the Lamb Chops.
Came on a tuesday evening for Taco Tuesday. Busy place! Friendly staff! The pork tacos were tasty. Unfortunately, the rice was very soggy and no flavor at all. The wood grilled zucchini was good just wish it was grilled / seasoned little more.
Outstanding. Food was excellent and prompt! Owner was very nice and welcoming. Wait staff were very nice. Everything about the meals we had tasted delicious. And the coffee was also very good. Will be going back.
We came at 8:30 on Saturday and many of the items on the board were sold out. But we had the best service with a great waitress who was personable and fun making our evening great. We were glad to share this special night of our daughters boy friend asking us for our blessing to ask our daughter to marry him!! We will be back soon!
Decor is breathtaking and the staff are fantastic characters. The only place in town to get a proper Guinness poured. The food is hit or miss, mostly hit, though, if you ask for recommendations. The booths are a great place to spend a couple hours with close friends and on cold nights an Irish coffee is the only way to go. There is real character here.
Food is always fresh and delicious! I love that they strive to be as organic and local as possible. Staff is friendly and warm! We work downtown and frequent The Irish Rose for lunch.
The service was great and the food was delicious. The menu is fantastic...so many choices. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Hot tattooed male bartender
It was great food and drinks
Manager Karen withheld a workers pay. I came in overheard a interaction between some of the staff. The manager didn’t want to give a guy his check because he had been fired. Like really he worked that’s his money (Also illegal) and now with world as it is money is tight. Never coming back if that’s how they treat people.
After all these years they consistently deliver dishes that are incomparable in taste and freshness. Trust their recommendation on how some dishes are to be cooked to perfection because they know there craft. The atmosphere is from a friendly nostalgic time from the hardwood floors and the wood fires in the back that they cook over. I come here whenever I can, one of my favorite restaurants in Rockford. I love taking friends and family here to enjoy the beautiful non-chain atmosphere and food.
Went there for a lunch yesterday after visiting the childrens Discovery Center in Rockford. This place is a gem. We had the opportunity to talk with the owner who was just getting back from a drive to Chicago to get the fresh produce and other food for the week.Everything was homemade and fresh. I got the pork chop sandwich which was a nice cut of pork in between two pieces of fresh bread. Will be back next time we are in the area.
This was the 2nd time eating here. But the last. Our whole experience tonight was awful. My mashed potatoes were cold. My husband and I both ordered steaks. Medium. Both of them, bloody raw. Should get better service and food for 65 bucks
It was wonderful as always, The food was amazing & the service was excellent . I will be back again . Thank You Very Much Irish Rose .🌹
Food was ok but over priced
Fabulous food and service! Live music by Marques Morel cant be beat! Great venue@
One of my favorite places to eat. I love the menu and the food is delicious. Ive had great experiences with the staff, who are friendly and prompt. A bit on the pricey side, but for how delicious the food is and the fact they do not have any preservatives is definitely worth it.
