My car was having trouble starting and also made a strange sound. They were able to diagnose the problem quickly and fixed it with a quick turnaround. This was months ago and my car is still running smoothly. I’ve also started going to them for the usual tune up and oil change. I’m really happy with the service and highly recommend them!

The person that I think is the owner is very nice. I thought I was going to be there for an hour or 2 but it was more like 15 minutes or so. His price was better then other people in the gaithersburg/surrounding areas.

Absolutely...Hands down....One of the VERY BEST experiences I have ever had at any mechanic in the last 10 years. Professional, very reasonable in the charges and very accommodating on scheduling my appointment. I am normally very skeptical when it comes to mechanics. BE AWARE YOUR INSPECTION WILL DEFINITELY FAIL!!!!!I went for my Toyota Corolla 2017 inspection thinking this is cheaper Maryland inspection in market for $59.99, but it failed. The person there sent me a report of failure say cars calliper is stuck and doesnt work. Fender is out and brake pads are worn out. He sent me an estimated expense to fix of $423.00. I was suspicious of the report since it had already passed VA inspection a couple of months back. A sticking calliper is not acceptable to any state.So then the next day I got it evaluated by another Auto Company here in Rockville and guess what, it passed!!!!!He clearly said Calliper was okay, there was no issue with it. Fender was okay too. He only replaced the break pads which of course were not $423.00.So folks, dont go for cheap cost, its a pit fall. Thats how they will entice you to spend money on fixing things that do not need a fix!!!!I did spend another $88 for inspection and things were fine.

Fantastic service! I went to get the used car I bought MD inspected and it couldnt have been any easier. Will is super friendly and the office is clean with more than enough reading material to keep you busy while waiting. The work was also done in a very timely manner, I made an appointment during my lunch break and made it out within the hour!

First time here and they did a great job.

My experience here was great! The staff was friendly and worked quickly. Although I had to return with a wheel lock in order for them to complete my inspection they were very helpful and knowledgeable along the way. They even allowed me to wait with my dog since I had no where else for him to go at the time.I just moved to the area and I’m glad I came across an auto shop that I can trust in such short notice.

I called several places before here looking for a Maryland Safety inspection, and everyone else said I would have to drop my car off for the entire day. This is my first time to find an honest,reasonably priced & experienced auto shop!! I had a problem with the lights of my rav 4 not working due to a short circuit that no one diagnosed correctly till I came here, they charged a reasonable price or maybe even less, and it was all done within hours! Read their reviews about inspection.I took my car for inspection and they gave me a list with a bunch of things that I have to fix to pass the inspection. I asked for the estimate and it was close to 2k, by the way I had only 1 week before my plate expire.I fixed few things from the list and I spent a 1/4 of their estimate, yeap you read it right, a 1/4. I took my car to a different mechanic and my car pass the inspection with no issues.It is easy for a mechanic to say, buy this part, change this part, and this is what you pay, but it takes an effort to the mechanic let you know what you have to fix, because sometimes is not the whole part, it could be just something very small.

I have been a customer for over eight years. The team here at Ormsby has kept my twelve-year old Saturn Vue on the road. Theyve caught potential problems before they stranded me on the side of the road. Theyve picked me up from the side of the road when something different went wrong. The constant over all the years is I know they will figure out the problem and fix it. these are the kind of people you want to work on your car; honest and proactive.

Knowing so much about cars and the industry, I can say Ormsbys Auto is trustworthy. Not only was the entire staff friendly but they acted with professionalism and accuracy. With fair pricing and a true customer service first attitude, I will be going back and recommending others to do so as well.

I have been to Ormsby many times and they have gained my respect in the way they run their business. Originally I was looking for a good mechanic shop since I have an Audi Q5 and not all shops work on Audis and Ive compared many shops with reviews left by customers. Intrigued by how many compliments Ormsby have, I decided to give them a shot and they have us now as loyal customers. Not only do they do their job well and correctly but they are not like some places that wants to take as much money as they can get from you. Working with them have always been a pleasant experience and I really appreciate the fact there are still business that have good morals!

Nice guys. They are willing to work with you, helped me get a replacement windshield the same day so I could get my registration that weekend. Also, if you compare, one of the cheaper prices around for a state inspection.The email and online systems arent great for making appointments, but just call those guys up!

Will and Frank run the front office with customer service as their priority. Their mechanics team run the bays like true auto professionals. Their prices are competitive, rarely ever beatable. They make the automotive maintenance and repair experience not only tolerable but also a little fun.

Do not take your care for inspection if your car is older than 5 years and you are not white. The man failed my car before even looking at it. He assumed I had tints and asked me what I was doing in America. He made me and the other customers so uncomfortable that the other customer left and went out in the cold. I took my car to another place where they said the things he failed on my car contradicted the ones that he passed. He wanted $1500 to fix I paid $200 at the second place. Do not fall for the low price, you will be humiliated and scammed. Or maybe they just dont want to fix cars for minorities.

Great repair shop. I recently found Ormsby through a friends recommendation. I am very pleased with the service they gave me and the professional repair they did on my car. I recommend it very much. Ill be back.

Predatory mechanics. They will try to profit off of your ignorance. Went in to get the hard start on my car fixed, but they recommended I get a bunch of irrelevant things fixed (i.e. AC and cooling system - my car doesnt have overheating issues.). When I told them Im only interested in getting my car to start reliably, they kept rambling about how they are smart people and how they have PhDs and how Its going to take lots of money to fix your car. Basically, they expected me to blindly trust them and pay the $1.5k they were quoting. Turns out the only issue was that my battery cells were dead even though it was 100% charged. Went to Autozone to replace the battery and car works fine now. Another red flag was that they said that my car would have a hard time passing the MD inspection without even seeing my car. I will not be back here to get my car inspected because I suspect they will try to make their money on irrelevant repairs.

When my 2001 Taurus ( with over 160 K miles) failed to start I assumed I would have a major hassle being stranded in Maryland. I am very careful to maintain this car and it has been very reliable for many years. I choose to replace worn out parts and keep the care as long as possible.The professional and honest approach of these people was really impressive. They quickly identified a fuel pump failure, offered a complete solution and I was back in service within 24 hours. Now Im back home in Pennsylvania and the car performes flawlessly.

Long story short, my car got towed and damage. After being towed 20 miles away from home I had no idea who to go to. A little research and this is where i ended up. These guys took care of me! Ive never met so helpful and genuine guys as Wil and Frank. They showed me everything I need to know, showed me what needed to be replaced due to the damage, and even advice of going after the tow company. They were able to keep me calm and help me from the moment I got here. They are genuine guys who care about their customers, and it shows. Ive was there a full dayand customer after customer came in. All were returning, brought in with smiles and hugs for some. These are the mechanics for everyone. Great work, great service. Would travel this far again just for them if needed. Thanks Ormsby!

I went here last year to get an oil change. They told me my driver front shock needed to be replaced and that I needed new tires. It had been awhile since the car had some work on it so I wasnt surprised and I went through with it. After the new shock installment there was a constant grating sound at low speeds and squeaking sound at high speeds coming from the wheel well that the shock was installed in. I took it back to the shop and after fighting with them they told me it was my rotors and pads on both the driver and passenger front. How both sets of rotors and pads were now in worse condition than the first time they cased the car for problems, I have no idea. They priced it at another $300 - $500 to fix. I took it to another shop. They took a look at the shock and found out they hadnt lubed the part before they put it in. Fixed for $50, including labor. In the past year Ive had two of the brand new tires I bought at Ormsby go flat because, according to my new mechanic, they were not put onto the rim properly. One of those had to be replaced, so now Ive bought 5 new tires in the past year. Trying to even get the people at Ormsby to look at the car or recognize that I had an issue with it after they had initially installed the new shock was a fight. They were insistent they had nothing to do with it even though there was no problem before they touched it and a problem instantly after they did. I had to take the car back and leave it there several times before they even came up with their secondary and erroneous diagnosis, which was incredibly inconvenient. I will never go here again. I would strongly recommend against it.

My car got stock in Shady Grove Metro paking lot and didnt want to come on. I searched the web for a shop and found Ormsby Auto in a walking distance. The service was fantastic. They sent their guys to bring the car and gave me a ride home. As a woman, I felt safe and relieved. Next day the work was completed and got the car back. They estimated repairs to be $800 and they finished it the same. I cant say if the price was right or not, but I can say the service I received was invaluable. They even recommended a great body shop for dents on my BMW. Now my car looks as new.

Took my daughters car in for an oil change and they found a nail in the tire. When I told her she said Oh yes, the tires have been losing air. (Something she failed to tell me). Luckily Ormsby is thorough. Thank you. A nail in her tire could have stranded her anywhere.

Frank was very attentive and flexible with scheduling and they ended up fitting me in at 4:00 p.m. They were courteous and my belief is they are honest as they passed my vehicle with no issues....in other words they didnt try to sell me anything I didnt need! Will was great! Although I did not end up getting my car inspected, I was very pleased with the service provided. I had asked him whether my car would pass inspection because part of the front of my car was missing from a previous accident I did not have fixed. He came out to take a look at my car and told me that it would not pass inspection since it is large enough for someone to put their finger in, which I had already thought might be the case.He was completely honest with me about my options and, after discussing my situation, he suggested that I do what I had previously thought: I sell the car in NC where I came from where it will pass inspection rather than get it inspected in MD. I would most likely end up spending more than what the car is worth or around the same amount.I was so pleased with his excellent service and honesty that I wanted to write a review. I would highly suggest their auto service and, if I get another car, I will definitely be using them!

They are scammers, in the inspection of my car they lied to change parts because they said they were in poor condition, but I went to another mechanic and told me that the parts of my car are in good condition and that it does not need replacement.Be careful, they are good at lying.

I loved my auto repair experience at Ormsby Auto! We had a 2005 MDX that was in an accident and the insurance company decided to total it. We went to several auto body shop and they recommend us to just let the car go because the estimate of the repair cost was going to be more than the total reimbursement from the insurance company. Ormsby auto manager Will and Frank were very professional and they tried their best to help us lower the cost to repair. I would definely recommend Ormsby to my friends because the mangers Will and Frank will take care of your auto problem!

I went to get my car inspected for safety. The dealer failed my inspection and gave me list of things that I have to fix. Im professional mechanic and I disagreed with all of the issues besides the tint on my front windows. Next day I went to another service station and passed the test without any issues.I find this service station unprofessional and would not recommend to any car owner to go there and get their services. You might get scammed, like me.

I went to Ormbsy Auto to get my vehicle inspected, so this review will mostly be a glowing account of my experience regarding just the inspection process. Ormbsy Auto is a very professional group and take their business very seriously. I was in and out in less than an hour, and during my wait the staff/management was exceptionally hospitable. Pricing is the most reasonable I found and the service was well worth the 30-minute drive to get there. I would recommend Ormsby Auto to anyone looking for an inspection to be done, and if I do ever have another need for automotive care I will use Ormsby Auto for that as well.

For three years I have been taking my 2008 Chevy Avalanche to Ormsby for service. I beat the heck out of that truck but Wil and his staff do such a good job that I will probably run that thing over 200,000 miles. Not only do they do a great job but their prices are fair. I will not take my truck anywhere else!

The gentleman that was at the front desk was very nice to me. No doubt about that...However, being a Florida native, I had no idea I needed state inspections and all of that. Nor that I thought it would be a big deal to go to the same place for a reinspection.I failed my first inspection. I got all of the repairs done finally after the 30 days I was given to get a reinspection discount at the Exxon I had gone to. We bought parts and my boyfriend did all of the repairs to make my car safe for our children and I. Control arms, new tires, all new motor mounts to name a few.This morning (05/05/2017) I had an appointment at 8am at Ormsby. After my wait, the inspection was over and I was told I needed a new drive belt, that mine was old and cracking, and that I needed to place an expensive rack and pinion because it was leaking power steering fluid. The previous day, I had put more coolant and spilled it. My coolant resovior is right above my power steering. The inspector didnt bother to wipe and check to see if it was an actual power steering leak....... The part and repair they quoted me was $1000, but when I burst into tears, they dropped it down to $850........After a 2 hour cry, my boyfriend gave me money to go get my car inspected at the Exxon since he knew nothing was wrong with my car since he knew there was nothing left wrong with my car. At Exxon, I asked them to pay close attention to my drive belt and the rack and pinion ans even asked them to check the boot to see if my power steering was leaking, they found nothing wrong.I am quite angry because I paid $60 for a scam inspection on my car and I want a refund. Judging by the other reviewers, they will reply to this saying theyre sorry i had a bad experience, they like to run an honest business, and that they only suggest such and such that they feel is safest for their customer. Hog wash. I feel like I was scammed and they were trying to get me to pay for unnecessary repairs. I dont know of the man at the counter was joking, cute even suggested for me to apply for another credit card to pay for the repairs... unbelievable.I have cross posted this review, and have spoken to a few people already who have asked me the name of this establishment so that they could avoid it in the future...I want a refund because they failed me for invisible issues so they can charge me for unnecessary repairs, and for the emotional turmoil I had suffered this morning because of those unnecessary repairs I supposedly needed.Avoid this this place. Spend the extra money and go somewhere else. Somewhere you can trust.EDIT: 2 YRS LATER I STILL DO NOT HAVE POWER STEERING LEAKS OR ISSUES!!!

Wil and his team are spectacular. As a young woman entering a mechanics shop, Im always very hesitant because I have been swindled many times. Wil and his team were exactly the opposite. They welcome you like family as soon as you walk through the door. I was 30 minutes early for my safety inspection appointment and yet he processed my information immediately. I ended up getting my inspection results 30 min later. My car failed. Wil and his team were willing to work with me to find a solution that was affordable for me and then performed the repairs on the spot. He never tried to sell me something I didnt need but instead had me laughing my entire time there. Once my repairs were completed, he escorted me to my car so I could visually inspect the work done, I really appreciated that. You can tell that every one of his employees are happy to work with him. A truly amazing mechanic. Cannot recommend him enough. I will definitely be singing his praises to everyone in the area!

This repair shop advertises one of the lowest-cost MD inspection service, but their inspector applies very strict criteria, issuing a quote of high-cost repair. Most of us, living busy lives, do not have time shopping around. They take advantage of our situation. I had two cars inspected there, one with a quote of $1,300, which I paid for repair. But when I saw my second cars quote as high as $2,600, I declined their offer and went to someone else who was luckily very honest. He repaired the car for only $650 and issued a passed inspection certificate. That was about one and a half years ago, and under this good mechanics regular maintenance (e.g., oil change, brake service), I am still driving the car with absolutely no issues. I regret paying $1,300 for the first car. I would avoid Ormby auto repair.P.S. When you see any online reviews, do NOT take an average rating score as a reliable indicator. Always READ most of the negative reviews and some of the positive reviews. When reading them, judge yourself whether each of them sounds genuine. Of course, negative reviews are (in most cases) genuine, but not all positive reviews are. These days there are MAny ways for false positive opinions to be generated.

Ive been here three times now for the MD inspection, a problem with my air conditioner, and a problem with my partners engine, and every time people have been kind, helpful, and the service was less expensive than expected.

Ive dealt with this repair shop for years and they are always fair, and very pragmatic about their repairs. I have a car that is literally on its last legs, and I can go in and say I need this car to be safe, and pass an inspection and they wont throw unnecessary repairs at me.Id use them for any car thats outside of warranty service.

Vehicle inspection listed leaks and needed repair (expensive repairs) but took car for 2nd opinion and found no leaks. 2nd opinion identified 1 issues was wheel bearing. Replaced the wheel bearing actually fixed the noise issue and the car drives much better now. The 2 expensive repairs suggested by this shop was not needed.Tip: Avoid large repair shops for inspection because they will try to offer services when not needed in the name Safty Inspection. They tend to be very picky and will fail inspection for small things. Shop around and have a 2nd opinion when expensive repairs are recommended. Try smaller shops instead. Chances are they dont benefit for failing you because they dont offer those services.
