I ordered 6 slip covers for my kitchen chairs on February 6, 2021. I had purchased the slipcover fabric that was available at the store that day. I paid the total invoice as required. As of today, May 12, 202, I am still looking at another three weeks before they’re actually delivered in early June. I have struggled to have anyone call me back from this vendor explaining the delay. The excuse is always “Covid”. I would stay far away from this vendor no matter what the savings.I am amending this negative review due to the owner, Michael, quickly resolving the issue of delayed delivery of my slip covers. He personally drove to the technicians home and picked up the completed covers. They were promptly delivered within several days and I’m very pleased with the excellent craftsmanship. Good for you Michael and G St for fixing the problem!
Great place to get fabric and stitching material. The staff will help you with any questions, and covid masking practices are still in order for all who enter.
We can always find what we need here. The staff are so great at giving advice and making suggestions.
Wonderful variety of fabrics, and customer service is excellent. One of the few stores that sells silk in the area.
Wow, just wow!! I haven’t been to g street in years since they closed their locations in nova. I finally made the trek to get some zippers I couldn’t find anywhere else. What a beautiful and beautifully maintained store. Unlimited fabric selections, great prices, and top quality merchandise. I can’t imagine buying at a chain fabric store again, even though there are several in my neighborhood. Employees at g street are helpful and unlike at the chain stores, I don’t have to walk through a maze of impulse buy junk to check out. Or game a coupon system to make sure I’m always getting the best deal. Everything at g street is clean and organized. A great shopping experience. Appreciate g street for keeping the doors open. Shopping at the local fabric chain is a soul killing experience because you can tell their primary goal is to squeeze as much money from you as possible while overworking skeleton staffs. At g street, the goal seems to be to provide the customer with a experience in an environment where employees are respected.
Great choices and knowledgeable staff. I want to take sewing classes here now
Excellent service people were friendly
Helpful staff. Huge selection.
Helpful, nice, great selection
Just had chair and ottoman recovered there. Very nice work.
Extremely helpful staff. Was able to make a decision on upholstery material, have it cut, and pay within 30 minutes.
I brought 4 family heirloom chairs in to be reupholstered. Desiree was fantastic in helping me choose the right fabric. The store practices strict covid protocols and Desiree more than accommodated my request to not spend much time in the store. She has a keen eye and many years of experience with fabrics, and pre-selected fabrics that complimented the style of the chairs, the wearability and my budget. The workmanship was outstanding, the customer service superior, the fabric is beautiful and we love our new chairs!
I remember going to G street in prior incarnations, and Ive never been disappointed. I was able to go in and find the exact right material for my wedding shawl, at the best price, and the people were great.
Thank you to Joel and everyone at G St. fabrics. Clearly the best place we could’ve gone for our bench, chairs and sofa. Would highly recommend them to anyone
They had a roll of 5 wide plastic that I wanted to cover a beautiful flowered print cloth on my dining table. Such an extensive and tempting selection of fabrics! Lots of sale remnants. Friendly service. Ample parking in lot.
Very friendly and knowledge staff. They helped me design my project and choose the fabric and notions to make it happen. Great!
Yesterday I just swung by in hopes that they would have 1/4 elastic. While the store is closed to walk in business (due to COVID-19) the very nice salesperson helped me on the phone, got me the elastic, thread and some remnant fabric to make masks, all with a smile in her voice. They do need to update their website to reflect they are open for phone or web orders with curbside pickup. It was confusing to see the store lights on and folks moving about (staff) inside. Yet the door was locked, there was no signage about calling in an order (which I luck into).
I had not been to G Street Fabrics in more than 10 years and never in its current location, but my visit today was like welcoming an old friend. I could have spent hours pouring over the fabulous collection of fabrics and motions, but I fell in love with a combination of fabrics almost immediately. Linda was knowledgeable and friendly, and I loved every minute of my experience.
They were very helpful. Found what I needed--zippers (and matched the colors perfectly), thread, fasteners. And told me where I could get the things I needed that they dont carry. I look forward to going back for buttons.
Always great to go and see whats new and create something special.
My mother is a seam-tress and she loves this place. She has been going here for about 20 years (before they moved) and has still been getting the same great service as usual. The staff is very acknowledgeable and will help you very efficiently and will do their best to help match your needs. While the store is very spacious and the fabrics, cloths, and materials are scattered around the store for a very calming look. I wish that G Street Fabrics would have an email listing or they would send weekly ads about the current deals or if they could have some deals. Overall, the experience we had was wonderful and we would highly recommend this place.
Very happy I found this location. They have a variety of different fabric! Excited to start taking sewing classes.
G street fabrics is where all the Gs on the street go buy fabrics and feel good at the same time. Were out here during the quarantine hitting the fabric store for stuff to make face masks, shirts or even capes with.We got to G street Fabrics to get it and G street fabrics are supporting the community.
Its been a long time since going to G Street so this is my first time in this location. Its a bit dark but, as always lots of choice of beautiful fabric! When you go, be sure to have plenty of time to see it all. They have A LOT of special occasion fabrics and home decor.
Huge, full-spectrum sewing supplies, including very extensive sewing notions (buttons and zippers!!!) & upholstery section. Remnant room can be source for VERY CHIC and inexpensive creations.
What an amazing store!!! Its like Aladdins cave of fabrics, notions, bits and pieces. The staff know where everything is and are really helpful.
I prefer their old location. This store can be difficult to find. The service is wonderful. Their selections can be a little slim depending on what your looking for, the parking is good. They do have wheelchair access.
Great service and great fabric. I needed fabric to reupholster chair seats. I was approached by a sales clerk who graciously and efficiently helped us sort through the many fabrics to locate a good choice for us on the clearance table --for $6.95 a yard. A great deal and an efficient shopping experience.
Mrs. Desiree is the bomb.com.... very helpful to my searching
I love this fabric store, it is wonderful. You can find what you need there although sometimes it can be a little pricey but of the best quality. They also have a discount room where everything in it is .$2.97 a yard. The employees are extremely helpful and courteous. They have plenty of parking, classes, machines for sale, specialty upholstery, quilting and apparel fabric. If you are making something special it probably has the supplies you need.
I have nothing but praise! I recently purchased a sewing machine and I visit weekly for fabric. My mom and I looked at machines many months ago but the timing wasnt quite right. When the time came to purchase a Bernina, I went directly to G Street. Esther remembered me from my previous visit. There was never pressure to purchase nor did anyone try to upsell me. I purchased exactly what I wanted! Their clearance fabric selection is worthy of mention, too. Everyone there is knowledgeable, passionate and helpful. Im eager to attend one of their classes because I know itll be top notch!Im so thankful to have such an incredible resource so close to my workplace!
Great selection of apparel fabrics. They also have tons of notions, threads, zippers, buttons and ribbons. I bought some rolls of pattern paper. Will definitely shop here again when Im in the area.
From the signs outside, you might think the shop is full of nothing but upholstery fabric. They have that, but also more, including an impressive wall of buttons. So, think of this as G Street Fabrics and Accessories, maybe? As for the staff, they seem quite knowledge and remain laser-focused on whomever theyre helping until finished.
I take my mother here often and she always finds what she needs for her sewing projects! This is a very humble business that is a great source for all kinds of projects! We havent personally taken any sewing classes, but they do have the latest and greatest techniques and machines. Ample parking and very happy and helpful staff.Prices vary depending on what you need, however hey are competitive for the area.
Only one location, well supplied, selections, quality, and great service! They offer professional upholstery and specials! Go visit and let others know their location.
High quality fabrics for home and designer clothing. Prices for remnants are incredibly low for the excellent quality. The regular priced fabrics are a bit steep but doable particularly if you are a designer or menswear bespoke tailor. Also any other items you need for your sewing room: thread, notions, closures, ribbon of all types and widths, buttons galore, sewroom tools, sewing machines, pattern paper, anything!
Love this store, good deals with price range your budget, great selection and more ideas.
I remember G Street Fabrics when it used to be in a cramped building downtown DC. The place in Rockville is really nice and has EVERYTHING and much easier to find; good prices also. Personnel is friendly and helpful.
I enjoyed visiting G Street Fabric’s relatively new location. Everyone was warm and welcoming. Even though I didn’t leave empty handed, I can’t wait until my next visit. I have my eyes on some many things there.
Helpful and kind stuff, great sale as well !
What a cool place!! Im all about craft stores, and this place feels very homey even though its in a huge warehouse. Some of the staff was a little cranky, but i chalk it up to a busy Saturday.
Excellent resource for business and personal fabric needs. They literally have everything and a huge variety at a reasonable rate. The staff is amazing.
G Street has the full range of fabric shopping experiences: organized tables of well labeled bolts and a mess of an alcove that will reward the fabric nerd with unpredictable rewards. Ive found DKNY knits, a silk/cotton blend that was labeled Ralph Lauren, and 12 yards of a champagne satin, all for $2.97 a yard - a price that hasnt changed since I started haunting G Street in the 90s as a teenager. This is where you come if you need $97.00 silk for a wedding dress, rayon lining, muslin, upholstery options, and a wide range of unique buttons. Id buy my patterns elsewhere - Joannes regularly has sales - but aside from that... My stash is already swollen to bursting with finds and treasures from here, so Im only allowed an annual visit.
Literally the first time Ive left a fabric store without regretting how much I spent. This was my first time visiting the store and did not expect the wide variety of fabric and trims. They had everything from buttons to wedding fabric to appliques. The store was very well organized. I was releaved I didnt have to climb over and dig through rolls of fabric, to find what I needed. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. I wish I had come earlier because you can literally spend hours here. G street had much better selection than other larger chains. I will definitely return.
Great selection, helpful staff.
My wife did not know the first thing about sewing and wanted to learn quilting. She bought her machine from G street and it came with a 4 weeks course on how to use the machine. Now she is making phenomenal quilts. Also they regularly have the free check-up, service and oiling of your sewing machine. They will even give you a free do it yourself session. It has been 8 years since we first did business with them and they still treat us like we are the most important customers. So if you need anything related to a sewing- or quilting machine. My advice is to go to G street fabrics.
Great, big selection of all different types of fabrics and a large inventory of zippers and beautiful buttons. Only criticism is that I was hoping to find a more varied selection of notions.
This is my go to place for fabrics. I recently went here to purchase fabric for a green screen to do videos with chroma key effects. I could spend hours here just browsing around. If you like AC Moore or Michaels arts and craft stores you really need to check this place out.
I am personally in love with this store and the super friendly staff. In order to gain an edge on the other fabric stores, I would like G Street to consider more frequent coupons and sales! Other than that, I love this place and their vast selections in particular!
Okay, this place is amazing! First time visiting and wow do they have tons of great fabrics. Why I never came here before is beyond me. The women at the checkout said they offer classes so that is my next mission.
A huge selection af fabric books and very knowledgeable staff who are very customer service oriented.
Great selection of fabrics and buttons. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. If you like sewing, or want to start to see, this is a great place to go.
My previous review of 1 star is a mistake. I never intentionally left a review, and don’t know how the error occurred. I did, however, visit this store in the late summer, and was pleased with the service and huge selection.
G St. Fabric was always the go to place, when you could not find what you were looking for at other fabric stores. I was sorry to see them in the warehouse does not do the store justice. The lighting is poor and staff was not as friendly as I remembered. I will give them another try just because its G St.
All the fabric you could want with onsite sewing machine repair
We went to G Street Fabrics on a federal holiday and enjoyed shopping in fabric wonderland! We are shopping for fabric for costumes for our wedding party and found lots and lots of great options on the $15/yard back wall in home decorating fabric. There is no shortage of textures, colors, weights and types of fabric at this place, apparel, speciality and as previously mentioned, home dec. There is an entire wall of buttons, trims, notions, thread, a small selection of patterns and plenty of helpful staff. Check out the website for coupons before you go.
G street fabrics has a lot of different types of fabrics. I used to count on the store to carry hard to find and luxury items. Lately, it still carry a lot of items and you can always count finding the right thing, but the taste has become regular and more basic.
Not like the same old g-street, smaller selection not very friendly staff I’m so sad
I like shopping at G streetHere they have variety of fabric options to choose from and even though they don’t have a coupon book or app for extra discounts every time I shop there almost everything is on sale which helpsThe staff who works there are very helpful and friendly and they know many things about sewing which helps lotMaybe one day they could get an app or a coupon bookAs much as I appreciate the fabric choices and options there is nothing like getting extra discounts with g street sometimes the price can add up
They have a huge selection of fabrics. They used to be in a more notorious shopping center and looking for this place online I found out they moved. The location is not the greatest, you kind of have to look for it since it is in a place where you cannot see of you are driving nearby. But once you get there, I am sure you will find what you were looking for.
Excellent source of fabrics, buttons, and other materials for sewing, upholstery, and other crafts. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Strangely set up at least 3 different entrances for different things and not well marked. Their fabric selection since moving has shrunk big time. Was very sad to see. I used to work near them but dont anymore. Was in the area in need of something and very disappointed in the selection. Employees were very helpful.
This store has moved around a bit in the last few years, but it is worth looking for. One of the few independent brik and mortar fabric stores still in existence, G Street is the go to place for interesting, quality fabric and notions. They also have a sewing machine studio (I remember they carry Bernina, maybe others) and offer classes in sewing and quilting.
As a former textile industry business owner involved in domestic and international trade, G-Street Fabrics is simply the finest fabric store located in the United States. They are known for their selection of finer fabrics, service, quality and just as important, knowledge of fabrics and embellishments. Everyone involved in the industry knows G-Street.....they are a class act.
My daughter loves this place and weve gotten some great Fabrics there
First time to visit G Street Fabrics, and was a bit overwhelmed with the variety of merchandise. I bought 3 different fabrics for current projects. l will definitely be returning when I move onto my next project!
Very knowledgeable sales people. Like the Home Depot of fabric crafts. I havent had a chance to try a class yet.
Tons of high quality fabrics! I always find what I need here :)
Very busy on the sale day that I went but everyone was very helpful and helped me find and cut what I needed for my project. Gorgeous selection of fabrics.
My favorite go to for high quality and broad selection of fabrics, trims and notions. Helpful and knowledgeable staff
GStreet is my go to place for garment fabric. They have a beautiful selection and their room of $3/yard factory bolt ends always has a gem or two hiding in it.
Huge selection of fabric. Knowledgeable and helpful staff. Great place to go if you have a project that needs any type of fabric.
Fantastic selection of quality fabrics. Nice little bargain section too. Lots of notions.
Love that place. The staff is very helpful and they always have what you want.
G Street Fabrics at its new location on Wilkins Avenue In Rockville is wonderful! Full of a wide variety of almost every kind of fabric you could want, including lots of matching and coordinating colors. The layout is much better organized and has space for much more fabric than the store they were in a couple of years ago. The staff members were also terrific at helping me find very specific kinds of fabrics and colors. The prices were more than fair, and I just came home and washed and dried all the pieces (I bought nine different cotton and cotton/poly fabrics for various projects). After washing and drying, each piece of fabric is as good as new. Definitely high quality fabrics, worth investing my sewing and design time in! I have bought fabrics at other stores in this area for less money, but after I washed them in some cases I was too disappointed in how they looked to spend time sewing with them.
If you see, this is the best place to go. A variety of fabrics, notions at low price, helpful and knowledgeable staff.
This is about as good as a fabric store can be.
Lew is a great Bernina technician.
Wonderful fabric and workers. I often over spend for this store has great deals
This is a nice fabric store. The staff is very helpful. The prices could be a little lower.
Prejudice old Caucasian lady working there in the department just after the ramp. She asked if I need help with anything; as I started telling her what I needed help with, she cut me off before I could even describe the kind of fabric I was looking for and directed me to the room with $2.97 fabric.Rude and definitely not customer service oriented. My assessment of the fabrics while there: generally outdated, yet some hidden gems for a price that can definitely be beat with some online sourcing.
I always find fabrics to buy.
No where near as nice as it was when it left dc and moved to Maryland
The best fabric store in the DMV!!!
The quick review: Shady business practices. Seek one of their many competitors. The longer story: I bought a few yards of what was supposed to be a cashmere wool blend and took the expensive fabric to an expert tailor with decades of experience. He immediately recognized that I was actually holding 95 percent or more viscose which is a substantially less costly synthetic material. I know its easy enough to make a labeling mistake so I brought the fabric back with the receipt to ask for an even exchange, expecting a quick and easy transaction.G Street Fabric would neither refund the purchase nor exchange the fabric for the real product.I can understand when a business experiences the kind of downsizing that G Street has experienced in the Maryland area it is easy to give in to the temptation to cut corners and squeeze out some extra cash, however it is experiences like mine that explain in part why G Street is doing so poorly in the first place and will likely continue to fail in the long term. I will not waste another moment dealing with such a deceitful business and I advise anyone who reads this review to skip G Street and try one of the many thriving fabric shops in Maryland.Edit: It seems my review is being censored. I hope this is published in time to prevent someone else from having a similar experience.
I wish G Street Fabrics was my neighborhood fabric store. The selection of material and notions is so rich and diversified.
I love this place. Went here and racked up on all sorts of fabrics for summer dresses. No other fabric store in DMV can match up.
Love this place! They are always getting in new stock, staff is always friendly and knowledgeable!
I love this place. Has everything I need.
This fabric store is amazing. All the quality fashion fabrics are available at reasonable prices.
Great fabrics, unique buttons, and crucial seeing supplies and notions here! Adore the $2.97 fabrics for wearable muslins!
Very helpful and friendly staff! A huge variety of everything!
The regions best fabric store. A Washington classic and a long standing family business.
One of my places to go for upscale fabric. The people are very helpful.
I was so pleased with the wide variety of fabrics and the great deals that I found in the clearance room. Staff was extremely helpful!
