I was in a car accident involving several deer which landed my car in a ditch. My son in law and daughter arrived on scene and was told by the Arkansas State Trooper that Cooks Towing was on the way to tow it and that we could gather the belongings or retrieve it there (that’s who the trooper chose to call). My son in law dropped my daughter off at the emergency room and was back to the scene in approx 42 minutes and the car was already gone. My daughter called around 2pm the same day to ask about the bill and see what it would be to have him deliver the vehicle back to my house and he said $500 would be the total bill cash only. Mind you tow companies add daily lot fees. He told my daughter he would hold that price till the close of next business day and that his daily lot fees for an individual is $35. My son in law and daughter arranged to meet him at my house at 3pm the next day with the $500 (what choice did I have but to pay because the bill would only get higher) he was rude to my son in law about needing the cash immediately when he pulled up and laughed about it. He wouldn’t even give them a receipt! For less than 10 miles of towing and a total 1 hour and 12 minutes of time (that’s being very generous with how much time he actually spent doing the job) charging $500! That’s extremely outrageous.

Told me I needed $1400 worth of work and that my vehicle wasnt driveable. Second opinion said that there was no problem with the vehicle. I went through each part he recommended replacing individually and only two of those items needed to be replaced which would have amounted to less than $200 according to his quote.My wifes van was driving a little rough on the interstate so I took it in to get it checked out. Id rather deal with something before its a problem than have to deal with it on the side of the road. I went to Performance because it was close to my house, but this was the first time I had ever been there. The guy kept it for an hour, then called to tell me that he had bad news. The rear calipers wouldnt engage and needed to be replaced along with the pads, rotors, and hoses. The front pads were down to metal on metal and had gotten so hot that the rotors had warped and damaged the calipers. The pads, rotors, calipers, and hoses would all need to be replaced on the front. I was looking at $1080 in repairs. I went to pick it up and he told me that he shouldnt let me leave because it was too dangerous to drive. He charged me $40 for looking at it and I left to get a second opinion. When I got home and looked at the quote he had printed me, I saw that he had raised the price to over $1400.I took it to another mechanic and didnt tell them anything that he had said. They took it for a drive, but didnt notice anything out of the ordinary. They put in on a lift and couldnt find any problems. They took it for another drive and looked at it again, but they still couldnt find an issue.I decided to buy all the parts and take my tires off one by one to check each thing the guy at Performance had said was wrong. I dont know enough to diagnose a problem, but I know enough to replace pads, calipers, and rotors. I checked each pad, rotor, and caliper. The only problem was uneven wear on the drivers rear rotor because of a defect in the pad. It wasnt obvious or dangerous, which is why the second mechanic didnt notice it. I replaced the defective pad and damaged rotor, then replaced all the other pads just because I already had the tires off.This guy clearly thought I was stupid enough to pay him $1400 to fix problems that didnt exist. I normally prefer a small, independent shop like this, but this was the worst experience I had ever had with a mechanic. I will never go back to Performance and you shouldnt go there either.

We were traveling from out of state when our pick up suddenly broke down on a Saturday evening. David arrived promptly and we were pleasantly surprised to find out that Cooks not only provides towing but they also have experienced mechanics, tools & technology to do the repairs. Knowing we were traveling, they ran diagnostics first thing Monday morning & quickly had our pickup ready for us. We were very grateful to Cooks for their honesty and consideration. Theese guys are honest, and they do good work. If it something they cant fix they will refer you to the best places around. If its not broke they wont fix it. :)

When other towing companies wouldn’t bother towing a 15-passenger van to our mechanic, Cook’s Towing did it within the hour! Very pleased with the great service.

Very disappointed in the service and prices. My 19 year old daughters car needed to be pulled out of a ditch...car was drivable, but my daughter didnt have $200 to pay the tow company so she called me. Tow company would not wait 15 mins. for me to arrive to pay or let me pay over the phone so my daughter could keep her car. He towed the car to his lot (10 miles away) and still wouldnt let us pick up the car until after 8am although I could have been at the tow lot to pay at the same time he arrived at the lot with the car. Thank goodness the police waited with my daughter until I arrived since the tow truck driver would have left her on the side of the road rather than wait just 15 mins. for me to arrive or give her a ride to his lot for me to pick her up there (and pay). I understand it was early in the morning, but odd hours are part of the job for a 24 hour towing service. When I went to the tow lot to pick up the car I noticed a sign that read......$60 fee for picking up vehicles outside the regular hours of 8am to 5pm. I wasnt given that option....I was told that there was NO WAY to get the car until after 8am. I would have paid the $60 to get the car after I picked up my daughter rather than take off work early and drive over an hour from work to pick up the car later in the day. I would not recommend this business to anyone based on their uncaring attitude towards my teenage daughter being stranded, their unwillingness to provide any type of customer service, their inflated prices, and their dishonesty.

What a con artist! If you seek repairs here, expect to ripped off, spoken rudely to and given an enormous bill without even told terms, labor rate or conditions. When trying to work out a compromise, expect to be hung up on & for him to dismantle your car if you have a question about the bill. Do yourself a favor & look elsewhere. I wouldnt even give him one star, but apparently this is as low as one can go! Also, he will take cash for jobs minus the taxes, so he will not have to report it to the IRS, isnt that illegal?
