I come to Kelvin because I trust him to be honest with me. Other mechanics will take your money & tell you they can fix anything but they wont tell you when a car is a lost cause. Thanks to Kelvin I traded my old Malibu in for a Toyota and I couldnt be happier. The girl at the front desk is always friendly and polite. I wont be looking around for another mechanic for a long time.

I went here for my (super last minute) smog check, and they were amazing! They got me in and finished inside of 20 minutes, even though I didnt have an appointment, and sent the results electronically to the DMV.(I also had my dog with me, and was able to bring him in while I checked in and while I paid. We went for a walk while they were taking care of my car.)Pricing was pretty good, too (less than $60). I definitely recommend them for smog testing!

I took the smog test on June 18, 2020. Service is good. I paid using credit card at around 4:30pm. They took my credit card then gave it back to me. Its the only place someone had physical access to my card. The next day June 19, 2020. Someone used my credit card to purchase gas in Contra Loma at around 2:10 pm and ordered Taco Bell at around 3:50 pm. Be careful in using your credit card here.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: Kelvin does quality work for an honest price. He has done smog checks on my vehicles for about 10 yrs and he is now doing some minor repairs since I no longer have the time. I have considerable experience working on vehicles (engines, trans, suspensions, electrical, etc), so I am a pretty good judge of what is and what is not a fair estimate.

I have gone to these folks for years to get my SMOG check so I can register my vehicles - I have two Toyota Solaras and they always pass SMOG (one [2004] with 213K miles and one [2005] with 123K miles). Were considering giving the Solara with 213K miles to a friend who desperately needs a vehicle. The lovely folks at this company offered to remove the tires and check the brakes for FREE! I will bring my (new to me) 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe to this shop for my oil/repair needs. They are HONEST - BOOM!

Friendly and professional staff that placed temporary floor/seat protection before getting behind the wheel. Im very satisfied and would highly recommended Advance Smog Auto Care!!

Honestly this is one of the best shops I have ever dealt with. Ive tried using the dealers and large chain auto shops with a lots of disappointment and distrust. Advance smog and its owners were friendly, fast, efficient, and fixed my daughters car right the first time. They went out of there way to treat me right. Ive struggled a lot with finding the right mechanic and shop to repair my vehicles, Advance Smog made me feel comfortable using their services and did just what I asked without trying to sell me things I didnt need. The next time I need service I will for sure use them again.

They do much more than just smog, they have repaired several and done maintenance on several of my cars! Great work, service with a smile at a fair price!

I have been going here for my check engine light and smog tests for years. People say that a mechanic will over do charges and fix things they dont ask for, if you are a woman....NOT HERE, I even know that your check engine light will cause you to fail, fix that first then pay for a smog. When I told the tech my check engine light was on, he didnt do the smog, he suggested that be fixed first, and since I was getting my smog there after, gave me a discount for the sensor. Very good experiences every time Ive been there, they are reasonably priced too.

The shop was alright in terms of appearance and customer service, I will give them that much. However, it was clear to me that this shop exists to make money, period. That said the way they make money is by failing your car for anything they can (in my case, a dim service engine light on the dash!) Tell me what that has to do with the function of the car for smog purposes, but he failed me anyway!! $50 down the drain to this con shop. Needless to say I wont be back, hope this warning helps other avoid this money pit.I should also note, my car passed EVERYTHING else!

Daniel Forward needs to do some home work before giving people bad reviews.. Just because your out 50bucks really.. If you have a service engine light ON you need to get the problem fixed before getting a passing certificate.. from any smog shop, even if everything else passes. This shop has both passed my cars and failed my cars and in the case of a fail has given me reasonable explanations why and what to fix, they will work with you and try to figure out the problem, i have been going there for year and will continue to do so and would recommend them to anyone. I would recommend people like mr. Danny Forhead not to go back.

This guy Calvin is the most dishonest guy Ive ever done business with. Will never go again. He didnt fix the problem, charged me $670 and then when I called him to take it back for him to fix it, he said it would be another $89 for another diagnostic. DONT do business with this sleezy guy EVER!!

Called with question. I have no check engine light on and just replaced smog pump check valves and having hard time getting only 1 I/M ready to clear (evap) I asked if it would be an automatic fail if that was not cleared and he said Im not going to answer that question you can call the state if you want.Well I will not go there and will tell everyone I know not to go there that they cant even answer a question unless you pay them!!!!!

Took my car in, failed smog, got it fixed ($300+)...and then the check engine like came back on for the same reason it failed....tried charging me ANOTHER $120 for another Diagnostic when I had already paid them to get it right the first time! gave me bs excuses. I will not be coming in again and Im going to tell everyone I know to stay away!!
