As the name states, this is primarily a sewing machine shop, but they have a nice array of various fabrics and notions as well.We had visited in the past, but this time we were participating in another Quilt fabric shop hop. My wife did find some specific fabric color/pattern she had been looking for here. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Good store with lots of thread, fabric and machines. I just bought a serger, and Tessa was so helpful and got me feeling very comfortable with my new machine. Ive got my eye on a cover stitch machine, and this is where I will go when Im ready. My only wish is that they would extend their hours maybe one night a week. Other than that, everyone is friendly and the selection is good!
Love the shop, great fabrics, patterns, classes, all types of machines, great service, always friendly. A one stop shop. Good location.
I went to this store today to buy a small sewing machine to use for travel. I had every intention of purchasing, and figured Id probably spend around $500. While I was looking at the models and checking the specifications on my phone, a woman walked up to be and told me if Im looking at the stores online prices, those are not the store prices. I told her I wasnt, but thanks. She said online is map prices. I had to ask her what that means. Apparently it stands for manufacturer adjusted price. And they dont honor it at the store. They also will only honor the competitors price match that they say on the website, if I drive to another dealer, have them hand write the price, and drive that handwritten note back to the store. I told her if Im at another sewing machine dealer and they have a better price, Ill just buy it there They didnt get my business, needless to say.In reply to the owner-- that is absolutely NOT what she was saying to me. She was telling me that your store does not sell as low as the price online, and that I absolutely would need a written piece of paper from another dealer hand carried to your store. I dont know why, but for whatever reason, she did not want my business. Congratulations, it worked.
I love this shop. It is large with lots of room between displays and shelves. They have carts to hold choices while you shop. A great selection of fabrics in all styles. Everyone is helpful and friendly! Lots of display quilts, patterns and tools. My favorite local quilt shop
Wonderful experience. In and out in record time for me. Usually takes me forever to choose fabric for the border and backing of a quilt. Amanda helped me and I was out of there quickly. Thank you so much.
A most unique store/business in this world today. They are honest and very knowledgeable of the sewing business. Anything regarding sewing, enbroidery, serger, quilting machines or long-arm machines; quilting, patterns, material selection.and accu-quilt info, patterns, as well as sewing supplies needed to make beautiful quilts, sewing projects, etc. Would recommend this business (and have recommended) to anyone looking for a good quilt/sewing store.
Wonderful, as expected since my sewing machine came from there. Big selection of pretty fabrics. Wear a mask.
Great customer service from everyone. I drove a long way to buy a new machine and found the store closed when I got there due to an unexpected water issue. They set up the machines I wanted to look at and gave me a great demo. Will definitely return. Thanks 😊
Took my sewing machine in for repair for issues with the tensioner. It ended up there twice and still wasnt fixed when I picked it up two months later. I have been sewing for 27 years and using this machine for 13 years and was told I just wasnt threading the machine properly and I should come in and have someone show me how to thread the machine. I ended up taking it someplace else and paying again to have it fixed, come to find out something was inside the machine keeping the tensioner from catching properly. It had nothing to do with me not knowing how to thread my sewing machine. I will never use the repair services here again and wouldnt recommend them to anyone else.
Great customer service!!They are very friendly and helpful. They are receiving customers for shopping by appointment only and have curbside pickup. While I was waiting for my appointment the car next to me called and asked for something the associate got what she wanted and brought it out to her!!! All staff were wearing masks and they require customers wear a mask also and if fabric shopping they will provide gloves. Thank you all!!
I was in and out. Lots of pretty fabrics. I wish I would have had more time to look. I was looking for material for masks, found what I needed and then some. I paid more than at Hobby Lobby or Joanns but wanted to help a local business...stay in business. They have better quality material, WAY better quality. Try them out, you wont be dissappointed.
My sewing machine needed a tune up and dropped it off at Austin Sewing Machine. Having never been in the store, I walked around and discovered such beautiful fabric. The quality and selection is fabulous. The staff is very nice. After returning to pick up my machine, I decided to take a sewing class from them and it was great. It seemed a little pricey but it was worth it. I learned a lot.
Watch out for the natzi control mask police this employee disregards personally health problems i have Asthma shortness of breath inwhich i get light headed and have passed out from covering my complete face, noise and mouth i was asked to cover my complete face. i did no argue but I felt like a fish out of water not being able to breath thank you for putting my life at risk of dieing
Ive been sewing for over 50 years, embroidering over 30, etc. Austin Sewing offers the best customer customer service I have ever experienced. They carry a great selection of machines, fabrics, threads, notions, etc. And best of all, their repair department doesnt seem to overprice the repairs and still offer the best turn around service I have ever experienced. It took me many years to find a sewing machine shop that treats their customers like an old friend and always welcomes and answers questions, anyone has.
Ive bought 2 machines from Austin Sewing. The staff is excellent, knowledgeable and very helpful. The store is clean, has latest selection of fabrics, etc. and has great events and classes to promote your craft while learning constantly with a side of fun. A well rounded shop that will make you feel at home. Highly recommend Austin Sewing Machines and Staff!
This store is so much fun. I love the fabric selection that is available there. The staff is so helpful. And the classes and clubs are amazing. I am always excited to learn new techniques. Austin Sewing is the BOMB and I highly recommend them.
I researched a long time trying to find a beginning sewing class that would include everything I wanted to learn and decided on Sewing with Tessa at Austin Sewing Machines. This class was extremely thorough. It included everything a beginner needs to know from the parts of the sewing machine, threading a machine, thread and bobbin tension (and how to distinguish which is giving you problems) to installing a zipper. We then put that zipper knowledge to use by making a lined dopp kit (complete with a padded bottom of fusible fleece) and handles. We also learned how to read patterns, how to properly measure ourselves and how to cut patterns for a specific size. We then used that knowledge to make pajama pants. The instructor, Tessa, was very knowledgeable, patient and forthcoming - no question went unanswered and she seemed to address the concerns and questions we all had before we could voice them. I was so impressed that I am considering enrolling my grandsons for the class. I also showed some of the class notes to my adult daughter who is a working stylist with a Fashion Design degree and she was very impressed with the detail of instruction and mentioned that she could have used some of that information when she was in college. I absolutely loved this class and I HIGHLY recommend it. The only problem some of us had, which has nothing to do with the class, was that, for some unknown reason, a GPS seems to have trouble taking you to this address and may send you in circles - so make sure you look at the actual location on a map before you drive to the store (which is actually in Round Rock and not Austin).
Austin Sewing Machines if a wonderful sewing store. They carry many of the top brands of sewing machines and have a huge selection of quilting fabrics and quilting supplies. Im one of their happy customers.
Super cute store and associates are always friendly. Smaller fabric selection but I always expect that as locally owned. Their machine selection is fantastic and they carry Juki, Brother, and others. I love that they have Tula Pink fabrics and Kaffe Cassette fabrics as well as precuts and loads of patters, notions, and rulers, etc. I love coming here.
Very experienced and helpful personnel. Will shop there again.
I had an industrial sewing machine assembled at this store. Everyone there, Robyn, Mike and David were nice and very helpful! Every item that I needed for my new sewing room they had in stock. Great shop. 😊
Went in to look at embroidery machines. Their service technician walked me through the machine I was looking at and answered all my questions. He was very knowledgeable and was able to tell me the differences between machines so I was sure of the specific one I wanted. The store is very clean and welcoming. The staff seems very friendly. The trip made me excited to go there to buy the machine when I have the budget for the one I want.
Clean, professional, cant wait untill classes restart.
Anytime I have a problem with a project, I can count on them to help me out whether I bought the item’s fabric there or not. They have a number of clubs to support a variety of interests as well as hosting various all day education by various vendors such as Anita Goodesign which are excellent. There’s a monthly Saturday discount to save money. In addition they carry several brands of sewing machines and can fit one’s ability to the appropriate machine PLUS give lessons on those machines. Between the fantastic collection of fabrics, threads, patterns and accessories their repair sevices are top notch.
Just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to Austin Sewing!! I was in a bind for a part for my Brother machine, and they were the ONLY shop in the area that had it in stock! You guys rule! You’ve made me a loyal customer for sure!
Awesome.. Great selection of fabric. Customer service great. Classes to learn.. taking you the next level from beginner to where ever you want travel. Machines, education, and great experiences. I would highly recommend Austin Sewing.
Very nice shop. Very good collection. Wonderful staff.
This is an awesome quilt shop! Tons of selection and lots of sewing machine brands. I have a huskavarna viking and not only do they service them but they sell them as well. The staff has been so helpful and nice each time I visit.I originally went because they are the only accuquilt retailer in Austin. My hubby and I showed up just 10 min before they closed and the employee was still sweet and showed us how it worked. Then she helped me sign up for a class just a day later to get me more information. It was wonderful.
Thank you so much for the Brother Scan n Cut! The instructions were very useful. I love it.
They service my sewing machines and I wouldnt trust anyone elseThey can answer your questions about your machines and their needs. Great people who are knowledgeable about what they do..
Great place. Friendly, helpful. Took their time with me. Highly recommend.
Great place to go for fabric and supplies. Sales staff is extremely helpful and they have great classes.
It was inspiring
Great folks here. Stopped in for a foot for my wifes Brother, these folks know what ya need and if they dont have it they can get it!!
Went in to look for new machine, they looked like they had a good selection. I told the sales lady my budget, she showed me a machine, I got very excited about it. I asked what the out the door price would be and she came back with a price that was DOUBLE my budget. She “miss quoted” the price of the machine. I was so irritated I left. I had $$$$ to spend. Now I’m heading over to check out the competition.
Love this store, staff very knowledgeable and helpful. Wonderful variety of fabric and all supplies for quilting or sewing. Great selection of sewing machines and classes.
Friendly and helpful staff. If you’re in need of anything they’ll go out of their way to help you find it.
Great shop. Mike is very knowledgeable about the machines. He led me in a different direction that I wouldnt have gone without talking to a pro. I will be buying my machine here from him. Even though you may find prices better online, you dont get the personal touch and help that you get from the shop. I dig it.
Great cozy place with friendly staff who enjoy what they do. The technician was awesome. Very helpful and I would suggest them to anyone searching around for fabric, sewing machines, vacuums and even repairs.Cant wait for a reason to go back

Huge store. I bought my Juki machine here and I love it!
Always have everything I need and offer very good quality classes!
Great staff, Great tutorial, I will be returning.
Great service, friendly, knowledgeable owners and staff. Favorite shop for Accuquilt machines, dies & accessories. Lovely selection of fabric, threads and patterns - anything you need for quilting and machine embroidery, including a new Pfaff, Janome, Brother or a used sewing and/or embroidery machine.
Good selection of fabric and sewing machines; very nice and spacious shop.
The staff was short and dismissive with me when I inquired about options to repair my old machine. They charge $90 to clean and oil a machine when I could buy a comparable machine new for $90. I realize their time is valuable but why would I pay them $90 for something I came home and did myself in five minutes? When I asked about other options or what that included the lady at the front desk essentially rolled her eyes and walked away. She could have tried to sell me a replacement maybe or given a little friendly advise, idk something?? I dont know if I caught them at a bad time but it wasnt the warm welcome I would like to have as a new customer especially at a local hobby shop.
Very nice and helpful staff. Had beautiful fabrics
Great people/staff and a great variety of product.
Im proud to see a local business with a variety of sewing machines, fabric, classes being held, recent sewing ideas, a quilt membership, they also have created items and if you look up and around youll see what you can do with fabric.
Austin Sewing Machines provided us with great service. Took in our Babylock EMP6 for repair and service. They kept us informed of the part order and 1 week from when we left it for repair it was ready for pickup. It is sewing great. Again thank you for your service and repair.Don StewardDigiThread Art.
People at the store are nice. However, their sewing machine repair is not the best. I took my machine there to be fixed. I paid $109 for the repair, took the machine home and tried to use it but it did not work. Took it back and was told it was the thread I was using.....it still did not work. Took it to a repair shop in Temple....found out the camstack was cracked and that is why the machine did not work right.
Great place for anything you need for sewing and more, including sewing machine services.
Great fabric, friendly helpful people to help you.
I have owned 6 Janome machines over the last 30 years. Since I travel frequently, I have had occasion to visit seven or eight Janome dealers for service, parts and tech support. Several of these dealers have been disappointing in service and knowledge about the machines. However, I am writing to commend and call your attention to Mr. Mike Smith, Manager of Austin Sew and Vac in Austin, Texas.I called Mike last month in hopes that he could help me interface a new Viking 6D embroidery program with my Janome Memory Craft 10,000 which I purchased in 2000.I was unaware that Windows 10 was incompatible with my machine’s hardware.Mike committed himself to exploring every possible avenue to solve this problem.Initially he spent over two hours on the phone with me analyzing the problem. Then, he called Janome tech support and spoke with them at length to find an interface between Windows 10 and my machine. He then spent another two hours on the phone with me trying to download programs and testing the results. This kind of help and support is time consuming and frustrating to all parties. Mr. Smith was incredibly patient, focused, and helpful in all aspects of this interaction. I am so appreciative of his interest in his customer and knowledge of the complicated Janome system. It is rare today, to find this kind of support and personal attention from dealers.Gail Zavelson
Service is amazing and Mike the sales rep is the man to work a daeal with
Great selection of sewing machines, surgers, accessories, material and thread and a knowable staff.
Very nice.. had what we need it
Bought my Brother Dream Machine 2 here. They have several classes you can attend.
Couldnt ask for more helpful people. Gave me time to look. Had answers for everything I asked
Great, if I need to I would go back
All the different machines! And fabric!
Everyone was very helpful.
I just went in to find a foot for my sewing machine. No one greeted me or asked if they could help nothing. I spent about 5 minutes in there and left. I bought a machine from them a year ago and have been totally unimpressed since. Im done.
Wonderful place with friendly workers!
Amazing, helpful employees.
