Awesome store! Im glad that I found this place to repair Alto Saxophone. Travis did a great job and was able to repair while I waited. Very professional and resonably priced. Highly recommend!
My sons trumpet pinky ring broke off. I made an appointment online and showed up at my scheduled time. They were able to repair it while I waited (about 10 minutes) and charged a fair rate. Gave me a timeline for a deep cleaning and what to expect with the instrument. Would definitely recommend.
Excellent repair service. Travis repaired a leaky flute while we waited, then went the extra mile by adjusting the interior of the case so the flute would sit better in it. Highly recommend.
Amazing experience. They took care of a small repair moments before they close. We are thankful and grateful for their work and professionalism. Thank you!
My son is about to perform in the next couple of days. Suddenly, his clarinet is making some random squeakings. We asked the other facilities for a checkup which will require 3-5 business days. There is no technician onsite to have a quick look during the weekend neither. We called Better than new. The staff is super helpful and allows us to walk in and check up on the instrument right away. We got there. Within 15 mins the squeaking is gone! We are so pleased to find this place where providing such excellent services.
Warm, friendly, knowledgeable, just really really good at what they do. Went in with my first year clarinet son to have a bent key fixed, ended up with several keys tweeked within 10 min, and a couple of lessons on how to get better sound out of the instrument... at 0 cost! She didnt charge us... We are super impressed and will definitely bring any future repairs this way.Called to make an appointment, waited in the parking lot and called again. She came to the car, and was super quick and socially distanced.Superb experience!
These are some great folks doing great work. I brought my 1920s saxophone in for some repairs and a cleaning. They were right on target with their pricing, and the sax is in perfect working order and looking great. Ill definitely be going back to them when I have any needs for my wind instruments.
Fast repair service with unbeatable prices. Professional staff with care and concern.
I have used them for 2 different band students. They have always been honest, which has worked in my favor and saved me hundreds. Always friendly and know what they are talking about even when I dont, but they can break it down for me.
I always send my students here, but I was very anxious to bring my (extremely expensive) professional instrument here.I was having a lot of issues and had many projects coming up and recordings to do. Travis fixed my flute just as exceptionally as the person who I usually bring it to, was much cheaper, and explained everything that was happening in the process.I particularly appreciate him not making me feel guilty or bad for not bringing it in sooner, because Ive had that happen before. (It was hot mess and a LOT of things needed fixed)Thank you so much, it sounds great!!!
The place to go for band instrument repair in Austin. Good folks. They will do final adjustments on the spot. Always friendly, reasonably priced and reliable.
Very attentive customer service over the phone! And it was detail oriented; they answered all of my questions
Efficient, honest, fair, and I can speak to a real live technician about my instrument. Thanks!
My daughter had her flute go down days before competition. The folks at BTN got her up and running same day. I know they cant always do that, but it was perfect timing and grateful they were able to do so. They also do wonderful work! Check em out!
They fixed my Saxophone neck at a really good price and really quick.
We glad we have this business in my area. They serve customers in timely manner and no hidden charges. Weve used their service for almost 2 yrs. We depend on Better than before for my daughters saxophone maintenance. 👌🏽
Another five star review. I have been using this place at least seven years. They have overhauled three trumpets, a cornet and a french horn for me. All came back quickly at a reasonable price. When I got them, each one was truly Better Than New. In particular, my sixty year old cornet plays way better now than when I bought it Attention to detail is a hallmark of this shop. They noticed I was missing one of the stop nuts for the third valve slide and replaced it. These things are small and easily overlooked. My mouthpieces came back polished like new and that wasnt even part of the order. I cant recommend these folks too highly.
Fast service and reasonable prices. They do their very best for you! KAREN is the only person in the Austin that I trust with my gold Muramatsu!
Excellent work at reasonable prices.
I took my saxophone to them for repairs and they did a fantastic job! I also rented a saxophone for my daughter and they were very helpful getting the horn and all the supplies she needed quickly. Highly recommended!
This place has saved us after several saxophone drops on the floor. Theyre SO FAST, but do excellent work, and are inexpensive. Weve had a used saxophone for 3 years and have spent less than $100 in repairs in that time, despite my son dropping it at least 3 times! Dont know what wed do without Better than New band repair. Strait music wouldnt even get to us for 3 days, so we never went back there.
OMG AMAZING AND SO CHEAP THEY ARE THE GOAT
Lives up to the name! Friendly, fast and reasonably priced.
This place is the place to go for instrument repairs in the Austin area.I brought in a clarinet for a broken spring repair after being told by others in the area that it’d be 7 business days before even looking at my instrument.I came in on a Saturday and the repair was completed same day (even replaced and upgraded a pad) and price was very reasonable. They had people very knowledgeable on woodwinds and clarinets so was pleasantly surprised at that. They were also very interested in making sure I was happy with the repair.Despite me living in South Austin, I’d make the drive in a heartbeat and will bring instruments there again for service and overhauls.
Twala and the staff are great! I brought a clarinet in for a rebuild at the busiest part of the year. Got it back in a reasonable time. Also brought my wifes flute in for a quick adjustment. The work was perfect! Super definitely highly recommend!
They did an amazing refurbishing job on my 1922 Martin 🎷
Ive had fantastic repair services on my daughters flute with Better Than New Band Repair over the years, as well as finding a great deal on a used piccolo.
Great repair shop that offers personal service at great prices. I had a vintage saxophone that needed a number of repairs to get it back in playable condition. They took the time to explain everything and an estimated cost after a quick look at the sax. You can tell just by talking to their employees that they really know what they are talking about.I was happy to find it was almost half of the highest total estimated cost. The instrument is now in great shape and plays beautifully.Ive used the larger local and national music shop chains in the past for string instrument repairs, and had a far better experience with Better Than New. Ill go to Better Than New for any future repairs.
They are to do repair on Alto saxophones rapidly an at a fair price. This beats the turn around time of other well known music stores by days an weeks. Best shop in the Austin, Round Rock and central Texas areas.
This place is great! The staff is so friendly and do great work. They’ll do quick repairs on site, I needed a quick soldering and they were able to do when I walked in. I even had my horn chem cleaned, dents removed and my bell threads fixed. They are fast and awesome. I highly recommend this place.
Did good work on my bass clarinet.
Took the kids trumpet to resolder the water key. Quick service and everyone was super nice. Very reasonable price on the repair. Highly recommended,!
They are very thorough. They sometimes have loaner instruments if the repair will take a long time. Most of the time I have gotten my instrument back the same day. They do excellent work
These folks always do great work on my horns, and theyre all very nice people, too.
My son was referred here for a trumpet valve that was jammed. Staff worked quickly to get us in and out and were able to fix our issue on the spot without an appointment. They seemed very experienced and knowledgeable with instrument repairs and their prices were very reasonable.
My oboe had several little issues including a broken key and a crack. When we went in to pick it up Karen had helped us a lot. She was kind, understanding, friendly, and gave us a detailed description of the issues and fixes.I tried it out and she allowed me to play until I was happy with the oboe. The issues had been fixed and the crack, which didnt create an issue in my tone, had been fixed. Karen went above and beyond the expected service and made my oboe better than before. Not to mention it was very reasonably priced and cost a fraction of the previously thought amount.I am looking forward to playing it again with all the great quality work that has been done!I highly recommend that you go here for your instrument maintnence and repair needs, big and small.
Love this instrument repair shop. Not only do they repair but you can also get deals on used items that the chains charge way more for. It is not surprise that all the schools use them for their repairs!
I had a wonderful experience here today! They fixed my young sons trumpet (he is not very easy on it) while I waited, and for an extremely reasonable cost. I will definitely be coming here again! Thank you for the great service!
At last weeks football game the bleachers were very wet from all the earlier rain. My son slipped and his trombone was damaged. He had a band competition that Saturday and Better Than New was able to get him in Friday just before closing to fix it!They are all very good at what they do and know the instruments inside and out (literally)!
Karen, Twyla, and Lacy were all lovely. Karen did excellent work on my alto saxophone, at a very reasonable price. Ill be going there the next time I need repairs. Thanks yall!
This business is incredible! I took my very beat up F french horn to get it rounded where is was flattened by years of love. The young man, Travis, fixed it while I waited which was wonderful as I do not live nearby. The result was amazing. As he said, a lot more air will go through the horn now.
Great place
Awesome friendly help. Fair priced and repairs are a great turn around. The knowledge is awesome!
These guys are extremely knowledgable about repairing band instruments. They have been able.to fix my sons bari sax every single time in minutes
Best place to have the repairs done. People there are professionals who know in and out of these delicate and expensive instruments and their review and estimation of the cost is almost always correct. Very curious and friendly people.
The reviews posted here led me to stop by the shop to have a stuck first-valve slide and a few dents repaired. Karen did a great job repairing the horn (while I waited) and the entire staff was kind and more than helpful in answering the questions I asked. Im relieved to have found this place and if I could I would give the shop 6/5 stars.
The staff works quickly and make quality repairs, I am very satisfied with the quality of work done here. I have brought my oboe and saxophone in here several time for repairs and I am very satisfied. 11/10
Absolutely love this place! Staff in knowledgeable and helpful. I have been taking marching band instruments to them for 5 yrs now. They are always upfront about pricing and estimated time for repair. They even have a loaner program so my kiddos dont have have to be without.
Owner stayed open late for my daughter to fix her trumpet for regionals. He did a great job and very good prices. Would highly recommend!!
We live in Hutto and this is where we come for any and all of our band needs. My daughter plays 2 instruments and so we make a lot of visits to this place. The people who work there are fantastic, they go above and beyond every time and have a true love & passion for music and the work they do is the best. They also have the lowest price on repairs, supplies and anything else you need.
Really amazing place. Great people! Kind service with a smile. We will be sure to come back. Happy! They fixed my son’s sax in a jiffy. Warm. Friendly place.
I have taken my Trombone here after denting my slide now twice and they have fixed it very fast. I recommend to anyone who needs instrument repair.
While its nice to buy a brand new band instrument for your student (or yourself,) the majority of us choose to buy/play a previously owned instrument for financial and/or practical reasons. Fortunately in the Austin area, we have options to choose from in our local music stores, Craigslist, AND a fantastic resource called Better Than New Band Repair. While the music stores offer instrument repair services, they may or may not be doing the work in-house, and the person doing the work isnt likely to be who you talk to when you bring the instrument in OR when you pick it up after the work is completed. For those of us who value feedback from the technician, this lack of interaction is bothersome. But at BTNBR, you can and most likely WILL speak to the technician at the time of drop-off, and can very easily get details of the performed repair AND any pending need for further work from the technician at the time the instrument is picked up. Better still, certain repairs can be done while you wait, saving you a return trip to the store. For those of us who dont live or work nearby, this is amazing. . . .Not only do they offer quality repairs and reasonable pricing, they have a pretty good variety if reeds to suit your woodwind players needs, along with other accessories and parts. And if they dont have it on hand, theyre happy to order it in for you.So your horn isnt broken, or so you think. . . . If your student seems to be frustrated or his/her performance isnt quite what it could be, its possible that the instrument needs a minor adjustment. Subtle issues can create noticeable results, and a few minutes in the hands of an expert technician can totally transform the performance of the instrument as well as the satisfaction of the person playing it for a very modest cost. I think bringing your instrument in (especially student instrument) every few months is time and money well spent to protect your investment in the horn as well as keeping the student happy and motivated. You change the oil in your vehicle to protect your investment, the same logic applies to servicing your instrument. Finally, I cant say enough good things about the character and personality of the folks at BTNBR. Just as its important to have a good doctor, dentist, mechanic, plumber, etc. . . . its also important to have an honest and reliable resource for the care of your musical instruments. The delicate workings of an expensive horn is no place to test our DIY skills, and its easy for a well meaning amateur to make costly mistakes trying to fix a faulty horn. These folks will take good care of you, and youll quickly see why I enthusiastically recommend them to anyone I meet who either owns band instruments or is likely to own them in the future. Love this place.
Best shop around. Most minor repairs done while you wait, or the same day. Friendly staff, and very knowledgeable. We dont go anywhere else. My kids play bassoon and clarinet. We get all of our reeds and accessories at Better Than New.
As a band parent, we have visited this place numerous times over the years. The service has always been excellent, the personal touch and the willingness to go the extra steps make them my first stop for any band/musical instrument repairs and supplies.
Very helpfull personal that give advise at time.when you need a good musical instrument. Love it.
They have nice workers, fast repairs, and a cheap price
This place is awesome. Sometimes they can fix your instrument the same day or same moment! :-) I love to go there and get my kids instruments fix. The dogs inside the shop are a plus!! :-)
What an AWESOME band repair shop with the most honest and friendly people. I highly recommend anyone in need of band instrument repair, please visit.
I love this place! They are competent and honest and if able, will fix on the spot, like they did today. Todays fix was so quick they didnt even charge me!
We have been using Better Than New store since late last year and everytime, we have left with a satisfied feeling that we have been taken care of. They are friendly and polite and do their best to help you out, to the best if their ability. This has been our experience and I have been a satisfied customer.
These guys are very customer service oriented. Ive never been disappointed with their work. They are fast and super nice.
Brought my sons instrument and was assisted immediately. A small part os worn 9ut which was quickly replaced. We were there for no more than 5 minutes. I will recommend this place to anyone who might need repairs as they were very pleasant, helpful and reasonably priced.
Quick and very adept repairs for my woodwind instruments. Prices are great, too!
This shop is great. They immediately took a look at my sons instrument, made the repair while I waited, and the repair price was super fair. Highly recommend.
Very helpful. Reasonable prices for repair!
They always go above and beyond. I will continue to stay a loyal customer and will refer others.
Wow, cant believe Im the first Google reviewer. As a dad with three brass instrument players (Round Rock ISD) I must have a reliable repair shop near by. The staff are super nice and knowledgeable. They take the time to listen to you and look at your instrument before booking it for repair. Sometimes the issue is so minor they repair it on-the-spot. One of the staff is an Eagle Scout, but I only found that out after he spot-welded and banged out a few dents in my sons Boy Scout Bugle and then handed it back to me and said no cost, Im an Eagle Scout :) Karen did a super nice valve re-lapping job on our oldest sons Euphonium (4 hours of labor for $75). I highly recommend Better Than New Band Repair!
Being new to the area and not knowing where the local instrument repair shops are located in the area, I found Better Than New Band Repair as an “instrument repair shop nest me”... highly rated, TOO.I had only knocked an amato water key off the third-valve slide of my Bach B-flat, so I decided to take the horn to them. When I arrived, I saw a no-nonsense repair shop with three technicians quite focused on their projects. Unlike most repair shops, though, these folks were quite receptive and personable. Karen greeted me and offered to solder my amato key back on while I waited. About 10 minutes later, I was on my way out the door with my repaired trumpet and a new business acquaintance.Thank you, Karen and BTN Band Repair!! Y’all are awesome. I’m sure I will be back, although, I never hope that I damage my horns. Things just happen.Jack Godwin
Always helpful and down-right friendly professionals. They explained to my granddaughter what they were doing and how she could do it also. They are excellent teachers when it comes to the mechanics of band instrument repair. Ive had 3 grand kiddos in band since 2003 and I would not use any other band instrument repair shop other than Better Than Brand New. They embody their shops title. You can trust them to always do better than brand new. Satsest JP PAN homme ordinaire mes enfants!
Once again, BTN did a perfect job. Nobody touches my antiques but them.
Very very VERY affordable repair, and it only took them a whopping five minutes where it would’ve taken up to two weeks in a north location.
Highly knowledgeable and they put their heart in working with every single customer !!! One should learn from them on how sincere we should be in whatever we choose to do.
If your a band parent this place rocks....their workmanship is above any others
Its a bit of a drive to Round Rock (esp during traffic), but they always provide great service for my daughters alto sax. I highly recommend them.
Awesome staff. Got my instrument back the day they said they would be done. I like the air freshener they put in my case too.
Love this place, the girls are always very nice and attentive. I highly recommend them to anyone needing work on their musical instruments.
Very cool staff who are more than helpful and highly knowledgeable. Will definitely be coming back.
They are amazing with instruments and seem to be able to fix anything.
Great service and great prices. Please support this business.
Nicest people, best customer service, excellent prices, above and beyond service. This place is a real gem.
Awesome! Took care of us very quickly. Thank you
After a gig in New Orleans with my band The Everymen, my alto was all messed up and unplayable. We pulled into Austin, TX for SXSW a few days later, expecting to find no one who would be able to fix my sax in time for our week of gigs. Not only did Travis get my alto back into beautiful playing shape in about 10 minutes, it was incredibly inexpensive. He also gave me valuable info on how to spot check my sax keys on how well theyre sealing or not. Great people and great service. Cant say enough about my brief experience with Better Than New Band Repair. I might just have to intentionally injure my bari just to have an excuse to bring it into them too! =)
