We were in NJ for a small gathering and my husband was looking for a coffee place to get a cappuccino before it started! Staff was very friendly and accommodating! The cappuccino was exactly what my husband wanted and the coffee I had was very tasty. We also grabbed a croissant right out of the oven which hit the spot!

I love Ara, their coffee is great, fresh, and made exactly how you like it. The couple who owns the shop are super nice and you can tell they take pride in what they do. A bonus is they also have adorable & cheap earrings that they sell which I end up buying while waiting for my coffee! Would definitely recommend.

This is the best coffee Ive ever had on the road. They roast in house. The espresso is rich and full, no weird bitterness, no windy taste, thick black and with crema. Ill defs be buying beans to take home.

Cozy spot with excellent coffee and people. Right from walking in you know youre in a cozy area but you wont feel cramped. There is a huge wooden table with bench-style seating that covers most of the customer area where youll feel invited to make your order and relax and chat with your friends over coffee. Great spot right off of Park Avenue and reasonably priced too.

Great pour over, excellent service. This is a very calming and relaxing environment. Always return here. Shots are either slightly over roasted or over extracted, a little on the harsh bitter side. I haven’t tried the pastries, but they look and smell incredible. Always service with a smile.

Nice location right near the rotary in the middle of Rutherford. Small space, but they have some long tables in the middle of the shop and some bar top style seating against the windows. One of the coolest things I noticed about this place is that their roaster is RIGHT BEHIND THE COUNTER! I’ve never seen a setup quite like this. It’s pretty cool. Don’t worry though it looks like it’s been setup with some special walls and ventilation. I have to say my experience was a little strange. I’m from out of town, but I’m often in the NY/NJ area for work and I like to just do some quick Google searches for specialty coffee shops in the area. Ara Coffee has some good reviews and seemed like they would be a great choice. I walked in, was gruffly greeted by the lady behind the counter. I asked if they were doing pour overs today and she looked at me like I had 8 heads. “What’s that?” I crudely tried to explain that it’s like a drip but made for a single serving. She said “Ohhh hand drip.” Yes! That was definitely what I was looking for, but just hadn’t heard anyone refer to it as a hand drip before and not know what a pour over was (I hate sounding snobby, but they DO pour overs here - It’s not like I was trying to quiz a Dunkin’ Donuts worker on specialty brewing methods.) She mentioned a couple of the bean options so I asked what she recommended and for me the fruitier and sweeter the better. Again, blank stare. I just went with the Ethiopian. The coffee was very good. It was well brewed over a V60 and had a very nice spicy, fruity flavor to it. I would definitely go here again, but for those seeking a more interactive experience this may not be the place for you. I love having a conversation with the roaster about what they have, what makes them different, and what gets them excited about the coffee. Aside from the coffee itself, that’s my favorite part of visiting a roaster and ordering a fresh pour over. This wasn’t a bad experience by any means, but it would have been nice to have a pleasant greeting and to learn a bit about what these folks are doing, especially since they clearly have a very interesting roast operation right here on-site.

I am surprised that I did not notice this coffee shop over the last 3 years.Its not crowded, well lit, an assortment of cakes, and baked goods, and the drinks are made and served by, what appears to be, the Owner/Manager.

Everything feels like an import, but the coffee is good and the people are friendly.

Had to use the bathroom, no bathroom!!! Walked to Dunkin Donuts and used their bathroom. But found out that the town didn’t permit them to have a bathroom. Other than that always a pleasure.

Coffee is top notch 5 stars. In house roasting makes for a great tasting brew. Seeing the roaster in the cafe makes for a cool vibe (I havent seen active roasting of the beans, but that would be a very cool day to go). Pastries are tasty, theres a nice section of croissants (regular, almond, and I think chocolate) and rugalah. Only hesitation is that the service, while super friendly, is usually only one barista so it can get slow when theres a few people in front. Otherwise, perfect coffee spot.

Truly delicious coffee. The owner buys high grade beans, roasts them daily in store making smooth not-an-ounce-of-bitter espresso. Big chains like dunkin and starbucks dont even come close to how good this is.

Its a small place but has a nice feel to it. Doesnt have too many coffee options. The cookies were good but the individual cake slices were expensive. Also, the Tiramisu we got didnt taste like tiramisu.

I started coming to this place because the coffee is pretty good until I realized that they were making up their own prices and overcharging me. I used to get a double shot of expression over ice and paid close to $4 for it. Never thought about it until I saw the sign outside that said $2.50 for a double shot. So I asked why am I being charged $4 when the sign says $2.50.... they said because i wanted expresso over ice so it’s an Americano.... what 😳.... and when I added cream the owner was like...oh now that’s a macchiato.... I’m clearly done with this place 👎🏼

I was visiting a friend in NJ and came across this café. I usually do not post reviews, but the owner of the café was so friendly that I wanted to give him a shout out. Lovely atmosphere and great coffee. I had a latte and my husband had an Americano, which we both loved and gave us the boost of caffeine we needed after a long drive.
